I don’t completely disagree with one time events I do however think ANet needs to re-think a few things, firstly either get more servers (less lag) or start distributing the starting areas for these events (less people in an area to cause lag). Also perhaps think about making the events a bit longer, although I guess ANet has better stats than I do on this matter, but making it a few days longer would ensure that everyone has a chance to join, now I still think the bulk of the event could be set over the weekend but adding a day at the end for the late comers (like myself) and starting it a day or two earlier would solve a few problems.
The underlying idea seems simple enough if ANet implement a system by which you must have specific gear to do content then that means all other gear becomes useless. What you have is a gear grind. By implementing a system to ascend current gear you’re not rendering previous gear obsolete. The problem is not for this particular new dungeon but for the next one or the one after that if each requires you to get new gear.
Why can’t Anet cater to both crowds?
Jack of all trades master of none. The fear (or might I saw the eventuality) is that ANet will focus more on one or the other or not give enough attention to either.
Agreed, something like this would definitely help to ease my “gear grind”-fears
I don’t have a problem with agony, I have a problem with the incoming gear grind it represents.
This so much this. I don’t so much care for them introducing new dungeon mechanics and welcome it, but this is pretty much the first step to a gear grind. I think many of the reactions and comments are going overboard a bit, but it seems like ANet listens to that kind of thing so… I don’t know…
Also what’s with this us vs them mentality going on here? “Only you GW noobs that haven’t been playing since 1 are raging, so go away”, come on people I know we’re better than this.
Well what I am getting at is if my home server in a select zone has no one in it, then allow me the option to transfer to a different server of some sort (it can be another world server or an “underflow” server) where the zone is flourishing with people.
You can kind of do that with guesting, however presently there’s no way of knowing how many people are in that zone on another server.
And people have a right to come to these forums, and speak their minds about it, without being bullied by other people, who seem to think “OMG L2P” is the answer to all the questions of life, universe and everything.
What if what’s on my mind is that you should L2P (OMG optional)? Do I still have the right to speak my mind? Or am I only allowed to speak my mind when the content of my mind suits what you wish to hear? And in general does your right to speak your mind also include the right of forcing me to have to listen to what I have to say, or for that matter treat it with any type of respect or consideration?
not the first time I’ve seen this topic, in fact I think this is the third time I’ve seen this topic today…
Some bugs can be fixed by a reset some can’t. In an ideal word there would be little need to have resets because in this imaginary place there are no bugs. I’m just not sure if resets will be the fix (even temporarily) for some of the bugged events.
I think what the OP is getting at is that some puzzles require a very narrow margin of error. The collision mask’s are very narrow (small tree branches, narrow wall ledges, etc.) I would also say that some of the puzzles, even being narrow, have wider areas to land on. I would assume by fixing the ones that have such a small margin of error would help people with disabilities moreso than changing the puzzle itself.
I’ve noticed some iffy jumping puzzles myself, and I’m all for fixing them.
Overall however I’m not sure, I can’t think of a way of making things more inclusive without reducing the difficulty. Maybe someone wiser then me has an idea.
Not a lineage guy myself, and I’m perfectly fine with the current system. That said if this isn’t a major implementation nightmare I don’t see why not.
I’m torn, on the one hand I can see the ease and convenience, on the other hand I did play WoW and I can understand why ANet didn’t implement something like this because it does reduce things to a boring anti-social grind.
Well I’m always one for more options.
I agree in the sense that we don’t need to be alienating anyone.
That said, aside from one thread (most of which was informative, but it did start off with a l2p), our dev has been quiet, very quiet.
I’d the silent too, at least for the time being. Until more of the bugs are fixed I don’t see there being any decent discussion beyond calls for bug fixes (which honestly is stupid, unless you think ANet is just going to ignore the bugs). Once they sort that out and we actually start getting into how and why the class works then I hope we see more active dev discussion.
I agree kinda, I could take or leave it, would probably never purchase it if it costed gems, and all they’d need to do is add another tab under “collections” in the bank for “gear”, add an option when you right click gear that says “add to collection” it would add it to you collections at the cost of stripping the stats from it. It would no longer be used for anything but cosmetic use. but… reusable. you would just have to be at your bank when you transmute. it would be more or less a listed item now instead of something you can equip. and level req would still apply… dont need a bunch of lvl 10s running around looking like 80s.
Agreed, a system like that would be convenient and appeal to my inner collector.
It seems more to me like it’s simply stating that the shard itself is dead. As in, the thousands of Shards of Zhaitan that are currently stored in peoples’ banks aren’t going to come to life and reform Zhaitan right in the middle of Lion’s Arch.
Somehow Zhaitan coming back to life in the middle of LA is an appealing concept…
I’ve hit 80, had enough gold to trade for gems and to buy myself 3 more character slots and a bank slot. Could have had more if I didn’t use so much on crafting (and by extension sold all of my mats and didn’t salvage so many items).
It’s dangerous in Orr, don’t go alone
Best MMO I’ve ever played.
Pretty sure that’s the idea, Orr is not a place to go in all willy-nilly and think you’ll be mowing your way through the enemies. I can see how someone who doesn’t grasp this can come to hate Orr.
ArenaNet really should work on this, put some rules in place for how they prioritise tab targeting.
No.
Also, it’s simply not true that in most MMOs you used more than a handful of skills. You just didn’t. this is no different.
Agreed. Most people just don’t see to really get it. Sure in games like wow you can fill a rather large portion of your screen with skills and abilities but how many do you actually use? For every class in those MMOs there is an optimal rotation and it doesn’t involve 20 abilities. Sure you have a appearance of choice but stray away from said optimal rotation and you’re just making a mess of things.
+1
guess not enough ranger.
Oh I’m sure they’re all just ingame, actually now that I’ve hit 80 on my necro the next class I’ll be working on is a ranger.
I guess ANet could include a player rating system but that will most likely just be abused.
Traits – be able to unlock additional trait loadouts at certain levels/for certain amounts of gold so you can have up to 3 (no less than 2)
trait loadouts instead of having to pay/respec several times a day….ie one for casual pve/dungeon/pvp play.
Agreed, some traits are very situational and having to respec takes time. Having the ability to predefine specs and swap would be a nice addition.
Traveling/armor repair expenses – its an obvious goldsink, but its just overkill…please adjust it.
I guess I’m just awesome because I don’t have and problems with either.
Legitimate trade window for player to player…i dont see how the game was released without a feature like this.
This has been discusses before (although discusses might actually imply civility and intelligence). Basically there is nothing you can do with a trade windows that you cannot already do in game, except scam and cheap people.
Dungeon group finder tool…let players be able to pick which classes they are looking for, etc.
I kinda would like this as well but I can see why ANet isn’t including it, you’ll end up with WoW style dungeon pugs and then the next thing the suggestion forum would be filled with people complaining about dungeon difficulty (more so than present).
Dragon Bosses/map champions – make loot factor by time spent at event/dmg done. More time invested = better rewards.
A bit of a nightmare there. Ok so you have 40 people spamming the big dragon, how do you distribute loot? Ok so if you do x-damage you get y-class items. But what if there is a hundred? Clearly you’re overall damage will be lower because there’s more people pew pew-ing. Do you then get worse quality items? What about the guy you did large amounts of damage but kept dying because dogging is for little girls and had to constantly be revived and in effect got a bunch of kind hearted players killed who tried to revive him? Does he get the nice items?
Be able to search for certain armor values/stats in Trading post (light/medium/heavy armors…certain stats, etc)
Agreed. I can be tricking to find good items on the AH and thus it gets a bit discouraging for potential seller to but their items on the AH because who knows if someone will buy it.
Dyeable weapons
Agree completely. My weapons too often class with the rest of my outfit.
Make magic find numbers not so misleading.
I think the word you meant to use was obscure or cryptic. But yes I agree.
exclusive dyes (neon/glowing, sparkling, multi hue, pretty stuff)
It would be nice.
Skin Dyes
Hair/etc redo tokens
Sex change tokens
name change tokens
Funny how we currently don’t have this. I see this as being a potential money maker.
I wonder if it would be better to give people the ability to play notes or sort tones? On the one hand a player can then craft their own song, on the other hand not everyone is very good with music… You could expand this concept with having world events or a quasi-crafting system for learning new tunes.
I honestly don’t have any money problems, mind you I don’t have money but that’s just because I tend to swap all my gold for gems. Mind you I don’t use waypoints (well except the mist→lionsarch shortcut) and I mostly use karma and dropped items and I rarely ever buy materials form the auction house. Also for a while I was making some decent coin on mining mats, remember mining doesn’t have a DR on it.
I agree with introducing trials, but right now I’m sure ArenaNet has a rather long list of bugs and fixes they need to implement first.
Well the end game in GW is no different then the end game in most other MMOs, but instead of grinding raids (because GWs doesn’t have ones) you can grind dungeons, grind world events or grind PvP.
I’ve found that a lot of enemies are fairly easy to kite around while taking minimal damage and with the amount of stuns and ccs you can fairly easily get away without a tank. However what is problematic is the lack of ability to get mobs focused on you and not someone else.
Haha bragging about bad rewards? Learn to use Magic find, newcomer.
I heard magic find was tested by people having very high magic find and it was found to be almost useless.
Apparently the DR system is a bit buggy, also I’m pretty sure the game doesn’t give you any hard numbers for magic find so estimating if you have high magic find can be difficult.
Yeah I see what OP means but I’m not sure how they could introduce something like this without making it feel forced.
I honestly can’t see the link between DR and adding new content. Could you explain it a bit more explicitly?
The thing is being a DSP is easy, its the default role basically. But that doesn’t mean it’s the only role just that you need to but a bit of effort into skill-ing and spec-ing yourself out to fill the other roles.
Some events are actually like that, where winning and losing fire off different events. It’s more apparent in the high level areas, low level areas are more introductory so making them too hard or having harsh consequences for failure might be off putting to new players.
Well I agree, but it would be difficult to implement by sure merit of the volume of these threads that exists.
Firstly you usually get keys for achievement rewards. Secondly you can also buy keys with gems (which is actually the intended usage).
I’d prefer more profession/weapon combos myself. Not sure about adding more skills to current weapons, that feels like slippery slope because you know someone else is just going to ask for even more down the line.
Well discussing housing I though of the idea of having in-world guild halls or barracks. A fixed number dotted across the world. Guild can then compete against each other to own one of these halls/barracks. It gives a bit of incentive.
Otherwise a server ranking system could be put into place, so that guilds can compete for top place.

So I skipped some of this because it was getting repetitive.
But from what I can tell the only reason people want player-to-player trading is to sell stuff. The idea then being to bypass the TP and attempt to get more money out of players when not competing in a open and levelled environment. So the basic idea that underlies this is, I want to get some sucker to pay me more money than I would get otherwise on the TP when I have to complete with other people selling the same or inequivalent items.
Oh ok no problem then, but why then make up all those other excuses and reason and use all this double-talk if all you guys want to do is make a bit of extra coin?
Well it does get a bit disheartening when you’re hit into downed state and being savaged by a couple of mobs with no real hope at all of being saved (no one around, no way your regen button can out pace the mobs damage etc.), so you just lie there whimpering while they beat the last few sparks of life out of you, slowly, painfully…
So yes a button that allows me to skip that part would be fine by me.
The real issue with looking is that the F-key does more than just loot, and if given the option to loot or converse/revive/pick up random stuff/etc. the F-key will always do everything except looting.
So either proximity looting (stuff gets looted by just being near it) or give the option to bind a button specifically for looting.
My fellow necros makes me feel sad (or is that ashamed) about being a necro…
I haven’t re-rolled in fact if I didn’t read the forums and see the massive amount of moaning I would have happily continued on not even knowing some people were having issues.
WE NEED RAIDING !!
I hope you’re trolling…
Visual difference between day and night, agreed. Some areas can be pitch black (requiring torches), while other not much different from the present.
However what I like most is having mechanical difference between day and night, different mobs or at least more night-time-esque mobs (zombies and stuff) and less fluffy bunny rabbits.
How is tapping the dodge button right as you hit the ground “a lot of trouble”?
I mean a lot of trouble to implement. I’d rather see something significant instead.
Can’t say how difficult it is either way, it all depends on the game’s architecture.
Most people who eat meat wouldn’t really have the stomach to know how the cow goes from moo to patty. I think necromancy is the same, as long as it doesn’t look human/charr/sylvar/etc. or activity do evil things people can ignore the whole Frankenstein-ish origin.
I’m not sure if this is suppose to be a suggestion or a complaint.
Well with GW2 buy to play model I’d imagine most new content additions would come in the form of expansions. It would be nice if they gave us a few freebies like (realistically) looking for more event chains in existing areas and (slightly unrealistically) more profession weapon combos.
