7 Day trial with heavy limitations (but not so heavy that it scares away players or heavily cripples the gameplay), I can get behind. Better yet give players the ability to send out invites, ideally this would create a quasi-responsibility-relationship so that might limit some botting and spamming.

My Feedback for GW2 - What could be improved

You could bury your head in the sand and reply asking for proof, you could deny all you want

Oh that’s a wonderful sentiment to start any conversation with (sarcasm). Essentially what you’re saying here is that you’re not looking for any sort of meaningful discussion you’re just looking to moan, to complain, to be a little girl (of course maybe you are a little girl, in which case replace girl with boy). Oh look your feelings got hurt and now unlike how a man deal with his problems (alcohol) you’ve decided to use the classic finger-in-ears-nananana-I-can’t-hear-you form of catharsis.

I know what I’m talking about

Practice makes perfect, but no matter how much I flap my wings I won’t be able to fly. By the same merit simply playing the game a lot doesn’t make you a expert on the game.

Whether or not you guys choose to agree with me or not, it doesn’t matter now

Yes because as we’ve already established you’re not listening.

I think the problem here is simple, balancing the game on a PvP point of view – Screw the balance, it is time to separate the mechanics. Have PvE skillsets and PvP skillsets so each are balanced independently of each other.

Technically the skills are separate, at this point they simply haven’t started fine tuning the balance yet so the PvE and PvP skills are still pretty homogeneous, but the ground work is there when they finally start tweaking. Several skills are already noticeable different.

lol only a few troll replies?

So those that disagree with you are trolls? I know the ego needs to defend itself but still…

It is quite possible to list many other areas, issues and areas of complaints. But in all honesty, with the array of new MMos coming out this year

I do believe another member of the forum said it best:

I’m sorry you don’t like the game. I hope you enjoy your next game more.

And probably said more amicably then I could.

Our characters forced to act immature, narrow

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

The problem is rather that we as players create our own image of our characters in our minds, since the game allows us a lot of non-story-supervised-play-time we reaffirm this image since our character barely reacts or interacts during hearts or dynamic events (so we fill in our own responses or reasons). The story then presents us with ANets idea of our heroes and these two are in conflict with each other.

que griefing for supposed “free” trades and offering someone something with a ridiculous fee. oh, ya, I’ll give you those consumables if you can pay 500g. thanks for clearing up the space in my inventory, sucker!

But apparently that’s what people want. They want direct trading so they can skip the trading post and thus not have to compete in the open market, ideally screwing over other players in order to make some gold. The scamming is this price everyone else will have to pay.

The LFG tool debate.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

gw2lfg is a very suitable alternative if ANet doesn’t have the resources to focus on an lfg tool at the moment.

I don’t think that’s ever been officially stated, currently there are 2 (in my mind) options A ) they really really don’t want to (community reason and what not) and B ) they don’t have the resources. ANet obviously has never come out and said: “We don’t have the resources” for the obvious reasons. You see a statement like that would be heavily loaded, one could easily deduce a number of things (correctly or incorrectly) from it.

So yeah, we don’t really know. I like to think it’s because they believe it wouldn’t be beneficial to the game experience, although I think that says more about me than anything else.

Well ignoring your somewhat displeased disposition, you do bring up a good point, there isn’t really a good way in game (well their is the launcher but yeah) for ANet to communicate with the players. Sure they can send system wide messages but some sort of permanent billboard / message-thing in game would be useful so we can check any important events like a server restart or something.

Necromancers are at the bottom? Well I guess I don’t actually go to the necromancer section anymore to many people complaining. But since I play a Necro as my main I’m not to sure if I fully agree with you.
I do agree with you on one thing, more weapon profession combos. There doesn’t logically seem to be much reason why only specific weapons belong to specific profession. I understand that ANet couldn’t implement everything in one go since it’s a lot of work to think up interesting variations and balance it out, but still it feel like the sort of thing they can slowly start to introduce.

Likelihood of new professions?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Usually new professions is something left for expansion packs, since GW2 is B2P I’m expecting some expansion packs down the line and thus for any new races or professions to be bundled with them.

Personal vs. Living Stories

+1 Personal story should be personal, should allow me to play a character and explore and interact with the world. At present a lot of lore and world building is being left out in order to shove us towards the big nasty. The living world has a lot of potential, slowly changing the world because of our actions, having real tangible affects.

Insight on the Game

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

GW2’s downfall is that it’s narrative is weak. The lore it’s built upon is rich and there’s little interesting tidbits of information strewn about, but the delivery is totally unstructured, almost schizophrenic.

As overall fun as the dynamic event system is I have to agree that the dynamic event system does fall short in being able to deliver a complex narrative, beyond A is attack B because A doesn’t like B alot.
However I don’t necessarily think that implementing classic quests is a must to convey narrative.

How about something like a vista but for lore, you go to the specific area or speak to a NPC and you get a few minute long audio / video giving you the history of an area or some insight into the locals. Alternatively mobs can drop lore related items, books/scrolls etc. that convey some plot and narrative. I know there was once a suggestion that GW2 could copy something Rift (I think, never played it) does for it’s area lore.

Furthermore some mechanism that are already in the game can be improved to convey narrative, for example NPC dialogue in town can be very useful in giving you some idea of what’s going on (presently the dialogue is nice but I feel under utilised). The personal story instead of heavily focussing on some giant looming threat can be more focused on a smaller more detailed scale and be used to flesh out the lore of the world. Mind you this might go against the “I’m the hero” mentality usually associated with RPG-single-player-stories.

Of course we still haven’t seen what ANet is going to do with the living stories yet, so hopefully it would be used to convey narrative while the dynamic events can remain as a fun gameplay mechanic.

Does anyone else agree by the way? Why or why not?

Yes I agree, but I need to qualify my agreement. Your suggestion is rather vague, no one will disagree that making something better is wrong (so frankly I think everyone agrees with you). Your exact wording is:

I think that it’d be an awesome if Anet could improve the Guild Page/Tab. Make Managing Guilds easier and update the page.

And yes making something better is always good, but it’s hard for people to agree or disagree explicitly because at this point you don’t have so much a suggestion as a sentiment.

Too little too late.
They need to listen to the community and produce what the community wants.

Yes because the community speaks with a clear and consistent single voice, always remembering to keep in mind that ANet only has so much time and money to throw at every request and fully keeping in mind the technical complexity that some of these requests will entail.

Animations and combat aren't fun

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

CureForLiving.5360

You are comparing this game to Dragon Age 2? This is an online game. Dragon Age 2 is game that barely sold half of what the first game sold. I’m following development on DA3 and they are dropping those animations because the majority hated them.

You really should compared another online game to skills and not a single player RPG.

In all fairness I think DA2’s issues were well beyond simple animations. Also I’m not sure why GW2 being an online game automatically excludes comparing its animations or graphics to single player games. But with that all said I really don’t have any issues with the animations.

Yeah town cloths are a nice feature but with the limited variety it’s a little used feature. I think there’s been a few discussion on this topic previously, including the ability to auto-switch to town-cloths when not in combat, or use combat armour as town cloths etc. Not sure what ANets stance is on town-cloths, or how important it is overall. I’m guessing not too important, which is understandable I guess, either they spent time on town-cloths or they make new content. New content tends to win out.

Achievements are disappointing

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Again with the misleading titles, you meant to say achievement rewards are disappointing, as clearly you don’t care either way about the achievement themselves but more about what you get for achieving the achievements.
But ignoring my somewhat glum attitude, no I fully agree. Having a tangible reward would motivate a lot of players to go out and get themselves some more achievements.
Of course this seems to be the natural evolution of any in-game achievement system, so I really wouldn’t be shocked to see this coming in any case.
I would however like to see some variety in the achievement rewards, it doesn’t all have to be grand minis or skins smaller rewards for the easier achievements would also be nice.

wait.. you could play with americans in GW1.. thats a 10 year old game.. so technical issues… so are we not getting the same service as we did on GW1?.. have they downgraded some stuff?.. are we getting a lesser game?

I think you’re rushing to a unsubstantiated conclusion, or more accurately I think you’re making leaps in your statements disguised as questions. But to be pedantic, no. GW2 is a new game, they didn’t take GW1 and build onto it to create GW2. So because the two games are separate things you cannot attribute a upgrade / downgrade relationships between then. Also what you define as “lesser” seems noticeably vague.

I have no idea why people are getting so very upset about this. I know it should be technically possible to do, and a lot of people seem to want it and other people having it does not take away from my enjoyment of the game (although I’d probably never use it). But since ANet doesn’t want to there isn’t a lot we can do. I’m sure ANet would much rather focus on other content, or perhaps their database is one of those things that’s kept together only by the grace of god and they don’t want to do too many necessary things to it.

Overall however arguing the finer points seem meaningless.

Gifting Gems

CureForLiving.5360

I think there should be an option to GIFT Gems to other players or have an option to send Gems to other players. ( if there is this option, some one tell me now ha ha )
I want this option because I want to get a friend transferred to the same server as I am on and some people don’t have the money to purchase 1800 Gems or have enough gold to exchange over. So its an opinion/suggestion heehee

So that I can get gold spam and gem spam. I don’t know this seems like a easy way for players to by-pass ANet’s gem store (and for those of you who don’t know, that’s how ANet makes the money to keep the game going).
It’s a nice idea I guess, but it’s also one that massively open for abuse.
