Race Change

CureForLiving.5360

Well I understand the technical issues, but playing my asura warrior I must say a race change would be useful (I though the greatswords would be comically oversized but then they ended up as large as a dagger on a norn and my asura seemed somewhat inadequate). Although I don’t think ANet should prioritise this, many other things that need to be added/fixed.

Cloaks, where are they?

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Official word form ANet is that in GW1 they were able to “hard-code” the cloaks, with GW2 and the various races, body sizes and body types it becomes impractical to use the same technique they used in GW1, so they need to develop a generic solution and that’s apparently difficult. Also not priority. In one of the videos they did note they were working on it.

'Reporting' for niceness

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

That’s still very subjective and in no way a system any administrator should take notice of.

If a large group of players, let’s say a guild, starts -1’ing a player because he just happens to be in the same spot as the guild is doing their missions, how representative would that be? The poor guy could be at -150 without ever doing anything wrong or mean.

I don’t trust the community with such power to be honest.

Seems like an interesting algorithm-ing challenges to me. Each +1 can’t be weighted the same, strangers have more input then people on your friends list and a flood of +1s in a relatively short period must be handled appropriately. However I doubt it would happen game-programmers and computer-scientists don’t really overlap.

CureForLiving.5360

I won’t say I completely hate living story, I do disagree with parts of it alot has been raised in the forums before you know the basics, the story could be better, more permanency or real impact (not simply for a week or two) etc etc. I don’t however hate it so much that it should completely end. I do have some hope that ANet will continue tweaking until they get it right.

Frustrated with the Lack of Communication

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

What frustrates me about this is that there has been 0 communication on why they made this change and the spin put on those patch notes to make it look like a bug.

Ok so most of your post was a bit complainy. But I will agree that ANet hasn’t been very communicative, well technically since the game launched. Anet could probably prevent a lot of posts like this with a weekly blog post. And not a marketing post either, simply one of the devs sitting down and telling us what they’re considering, why they did what they did etc.

I can’t believe in the livestream they actually said that Charr get less attention because we’re the least played race. Basically saying “yeah those clipping and other issues will be ignored because we gotta focus on humans being pretty since most people play those.”

Unreal.

CureForLiving.5360

There’s been many suggestions like this and I agree with all of them. Currently my bank is full of skins, skins I can’t use for fear of having to replace my current irreplaceable skin. Sure ANet had included that new gemstore item that can salvage the skin, but it just doesn’t fell like a fix more a temporary patch.

CureForLiving.5360

This is a game, games are designed to be fun.

Firstly your premise is wrong. Games are intended to provide entertainment, fun is a form of entertainment yes, but if fun was the only form of entertainment then we wouldn’t have any puzzle games, or horror games, or god games etc. All entertainment works like this, it’s why we have horror novels or 50 shades of grey, each invoking a different emotional response for the purpose of entertainment, not for fun.

Secondly assuming we forget the issue with your premise, why can’t gambling be fun?

Is there non grindy/boring content comming?

Pace of new content - TOO FAST

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

There was a suggestion in another post of having a break between content patched, maybe a week or two. That might help. We’ve definitely seen ANet extending the period of the events (allowing one event to flow into another), so it seems they’re experimenting at least seeing how to best extend the time without making it too long. Well for all the current problems at least it feel like they’re trying.

Repeatable Living World Events?

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Story-related Living Story achievements, like Secret of Southsun, Cutthroat Politics and Clockwork Chaos is unlikely to ever return, I’m afraid.

Festival content like Halloween and Wintersday are quite likely to return, although we don’t know for sure if past achievements for those will be completable again. We DO know that the Zephyr Sanctum, Crown Pavilion and the Queen’s Gauntlet will be returning, and that achievements for the Gauntlet at least will be completable when it does. Hopefully the Sanctum and Pavilion achievements will also be completable at those times.

Well if Super Adventure Box is any indication then you’re right. A bit sad though, maybe eventually ANet will implement something like this, or add semi-permanency to these events. However a big part of these events do require a a large group to actually be fun, it you have all of them available you’ll also got a saturation of players and then some of the fun might get lost. Having one living story event active at a time does allow ANet to focus the players attention on one thing at a time. So I’d say there are parts of these events that could be made semi-permanent.

For example there’s no reason why the Flame and Frost dungeon or world events couldn’t have stuck around, or the Aetherblade dungeon.

So, revamping Tequatl sounds okay but seriously, what about revamping Zhaitan?? That one needs much more work.

Who here is playing because of living story?

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Well the living story gives me something to do, so I guess I play because of it. Mind you a bit of permanency would be nice, especially since real life need to take priority over GW2 and some events I completely miss out on.

Living Story Lore vehicle needed.

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

The current phase off events is just plain ridiculous. I understand the suspension of disbelief but the whole Queen event disappearing in a matter of minute is ridiculous.

What I am talking about is a slow phase out of living story environment and items ie the ballons towers…who dismantled them? why didn t it take a day or two for those to be removed?

What about the gauntlet? Who dismantled it and why weren t there workers moving crates etc…see what I mean? The content spawns and despawns in a flash when it could be used to greatly improve the living story by making the world actually feel like it is changing.

The vendors for sprokets items could have moved to outside of the gauntlet and the gauntlet could have been closed due to work being done on it (being dismantled). This is what really annoys me with mmos and GW2 is particular. Massive content are added and removed in a flash instead of slowly phasing them in and out.

Well they did have something similar after Holloween where they rebuilt the fountain, but yeah it doesn’t feel very living when things magically appear and disappear out of nowhere.

Tyria needs its newspaper.

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Well it will definitely be a good way to get tell a better story. And it doesn’t necessarily have to only be about the living story, it might just be some flavour pieces. They could even use to to hint-at / build-up to new content.

Very good idea. Playing GW2 requires way too much googling, that’s silly.

On an unrelated side note, I’m still not sure why the game is actually called “Guild Wars”. Where are the wars between guilds here?!?

So a newspaper and a journal / encyclopaedia / bestiary / etc. Maybe something like Mass-Effect has, where they give bios, or entries about places and races etc.

Btw. Guild Wars refers to the lore. Long ago there was guilds and they warred.

Aetherblade farming during invasions

in Living World

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Really people got 40-60 boxes? Are you sure that’s accurate, it sounds a little extreme. If the player mob was large enough you’d probably get 2 camps at a time, you’d only probably get 6 champs before the captain showed up and then probably another 4-6. Usually the farming was so intense you’d only be able to farm 1 or 2 aether groups before the aethers were picked clean.

“I base those last two stats on what I got personally and what farmers often bragged about getting”

Well here might be your problem both seem like very unreliable sources, the former is clearly biased and the later is clearly looking to troll / stroke-ego.

Unless I missed something, and I was farming pretty hard around the end there. So maybe my farm – skills isn’t as good as I image it to be.

Why Skin Wardrobe should be a high-priority

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Ok 6 pages is too long for me to read, but I agree with the wardrobe, pesonally I’d like to see a re-usable skin wardrobe in stead of the PvP wardrobe (which is just basically a bank of items). Once you get a nice item you “salvage it” for the skin and throw that into the wardrobe, and then when you want to transmute some item of your you use a “transmute stone” (so that ANet can get their cut) and bam your item is transmuted but the skin still remains in the wardrobe.

Ok so all the expensive recipes I purchases on the TP will be save. Ok I’m fine with this then.

Personally I was a big fan of flame and frost as well. The only issue of course is how long will it take for ANet to produce sufficient content to constitute a F&F that we want here. Flame and frost started out slow for a reason (I believe) and that’s because they (ANet) spent most of their time preparing the later phases’ content. If would be nice if we could get larger epic stories with real villains, new maps and dungeons (ideally both being permanent) but the issue does become producing the content (remember ANet tries to aim for 1 content patch per month).
What I really want to see however from Living Story is a real impact on the world (not a deductive impact mind you) I want to see new areas, new dungeons new world mobs etc. Going back to F&F why couldn’t the molten alliance stick around?

If we have class specific weapons then these weapons become iconic and representative to that class, and who gets to decide if for example Necro’s weapon has to be melee or range? I guess this could be solved by with both melee and range weapons.

Anyway the word filter is a simple thing ANet put in place to save themselves a lot of headaches.
