You do realize how unhelpful this suggestion is? You basically just said to fix lag and had no actual suggestions on how to do it.

Hey, Anet! Fix bugs in your game!

Am I suggestion foruming right?

I’m guessing there’s not a lot of native English speakers (or people that have English as a first, second or third language) and as such people seem to think suggestion means the same as complain.

I was trying to find it after release but no area fits its surroundings: big deep uncorrupted ocean.

Why are you even on the forums? You seem to very much not like GW2…

Anyway back on topic, youtubing GW2 Manifesto turned up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35BPhT-KI1E but I don’t see any Liviathan.

Culling is not really something you can fix, unless you’re computer runs on plutonium it’s going to suffer in a WvW zerg or doing a meta-event with a full map. Culling itself was a fix, which they’ve tuned a bit for WvW but it’s still necessary.

True ANet should spend 2 years of getting rid of every single bug and glitch before making and implementing new content

If that happened, more people would quit. I see less “I’m quitting because ____ class is still broken” than “I’m quitting because there’s nothing to do” or “I’m quitting coz of ascended stuff” threads in the forum.

CureForLiving.5360

Is this the most casual AAA MMO ever? I know some of you will get offended by this statement thinking I’m attacking the game, but clearly, it was a design decision that Anet went for. Just curious if there has been another with more casual elements?

Seeing as how the title reads: “Legitimate Question”, while you clearly self identify it as a statement. I’m significantly more offended by the fact that you feel the need to lie to get people to read your comments.

Well at the least what I’d expect is: new races and/or new professions, definitely now areas / maps. Secondary expectations would be some new gameplay mechanic or gimmick, but usually these are more difficult to make compared to just turning out new quests / areas.

CureForLiving.5360

Watch my videos and there wont be any more of these soo called “issues”.
lol Gosh I swear… You people all just complain than learn on forums sometimes.

You explain even the most basic skills in this video like it was some great secret, while completely failing to actually display any depth at all. I mean you kited an npc for about a minute while repeatedly applying cripple, wow, that’s grand. Oh the depth of it…

Seriously, that’s not what depth is. An evolving, reactive meta game could be considered depth, build diversity could be considered depth, truely customizable skill bars, the secondary profession system or something like the strategic impact of hexes, counter hexes and various interactions of skills that gw1 had certainly where depth; but what you show here is only amateurish beating (fast cast ground targetting off for gs/rifle?) on an almost unreactive ai.

Not being the best orator I’ve learned how to find good examples of things and then point to them, it also saves me the hassle of having to explain things myself.
Anyway on the topic of depth, this: http://extra-credits.net/episodes/depth-vs-complexity/

GW2 revolves around grind and time tables..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Once upon a time, ANet designed a game where the only things people might choose to do that required time commitment were gaining a dungeon set, or a legendary weapon. Everything else in the game, and there was a lot of it, was for fun. ANet envisioned gamers choosing to do whatever they wanted because it was whatever they wanted.

Then their vision met reality, in the form of a horde of players who wanted the results as quickly and easily as possible. Said horde clamored for more, for progression, for something new to do, for more and better stuff. And so ANet realized what other MMO developers have known all along. A large percentage of players play for rewards.

You know, all that fun stuff they designed in the first place, the stuff that was supposed to be done for fun? It’s still out there. The only thing keeping people from doing it is their own choices.

This, oh god so much this! GW2 is a example of the developers having lofty ideals and unrealistic expectations of a playerbase. A playerbase which I can only say has been skinner-boxed into oblivion, a playerbase unable to actually fun. No grinding is not fun, in the same way that heroine is not fun, but it feel good and your brain tells you it’s good so you keep doing it (like rats pulling levers, over and over and over hoping for cheese, for that singular moment of payoff which apparently has to excuse an entire play session of tedium and monotony).
So a lot of developer time is spent adding more grindable content and not adding more fun things to do, because MMO players.

No GW2 Expansions or Sequels (Anytime Soon)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Well on the one hand yay, I guess. On the other, how much money is ANet pulling in from the gem store? Usually those box sales recoup the cost of content production so I’m afraid that the amount of money to make new content might not be there and we’ll keep seeing small content patches which in total don’t match what we would have gotten from an expansion, and a fixed expansion also puts pressure on the developers to do something new or interesting.

Overflow Wars 2

CureForLiving.5360

There seems to be a misconception that I have seen in map chat of [Group] Event ‘Overflow’ maps. Some people are under the impression that if they are in overflow they won’t have the event spawn. I can personally validate that this is NOT true.
I did both Behemoth and Maw event yesterday on overflow and got my chest just fine. Just wanted to make sure people were not under the impression Overflow means no event/chest. That is just not true, at least in my case.

Yeah my thinking as well, judging by how people are going on it seems like the overflows don’t have word events or rewards or something.

what if meta events varied every time

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Well variety requires more time and effort. For game developers it’s a bit of a hard sell, as contents requires a lot of time to produce you’d also want to maximise the exposure of that content i.e. you’d want a lot of players be able to experience it. Also one can argue that the more variety they attempt to put in it to more buggy and unpolished the overall experience will be.

But in principle I do agree with you, and would like nothing more than ANet to be able to produce more and varied content.

Show as "Offline" when not repping a guild

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

Technically this would be dishonest, you want to be able to lie to your guild and you want the game mechanics to allow you to do so.
However I do feel some sympathy for your stated problem, although your problem is not so much a game-centric-problem but more a human-centric-problem. Now I’m not saying that a 100% problem is right or wrong, but this seems like the sort of thing you either accept or reject, if the guild wants 100% commitment and you can’t do it then, well that sucks.
I use to be in a casual-ish raiding guild in WoW, the guild had raiders and I was one of them and to be a raider I had to raid. A simple enough agreement. I think what you might be trying to do here is have your cake and eat it, i.e. you’re trying to cheat on your end of the deal with your guild (the whole 100% commitment thing). Maybe the guild isn’t for you?

EDIT: lol stupid spell checking and eloquent speeches and Jrunyon.3012 basically beats me to it :P

Well I’ll be argumentative and say it’s fully possible to have a MMORPG that also happens to use FPS-mechanics, because a genre should not be defined by it’s mechanics (but then again I’ve probably been drinking from the cool-aid, http://extra-credits.net/episodes/aesthetics-of-play/).
However I have to note that this will essentially require a redesign of GW2 fundamental combat mechanic.

Public surveys for new content

in Suggestions

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

The only problem with that is how will ANet illicit these responses? After all few will argue that these forums represent a majority of the playerbase. ANet says that they’re checking our chat logs (creepy) and they have people going through these forums and some other GW-related forums but still even then I’m not sure how good the data is (or is that are?) they’re getting.

I’ve previously suggested they introduce some sort of in-game, completely optional, polling system to get more direct feedback from a potentially larger portion of the playerbase. Player logs in, sees a flakittenhing in the corner clicks on it, can choice any one of 3-4 options (or none at all), makes a selection and keeps on playing.

CureForLiving.5360

Have you tried recreational drugs? I hear from a friend that they tend to help the tedium of boredom. As for the game, I’m afraid because of the way it was implemented (not too many skinner-box / reward grinding elements) you’re brain simply isn’t getting the release of feel good hormones usually associated with achievement and discovery since you’ve probably done most of the grindy things already. I could advise you to take a break, and hopefully one of the future content patches can give you something to do. With GW2 being B2P there’s no subscription so you can easily take breaks and come back when and if you feel like it. Perhaps the context patch tomorrow will give you a few more ours of gameplay, and perhaps next months patch will do the same.

My opinion of home instance.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: CureForLiving.5360

CureForLiving.5360

I must say if my googling is any indication ANet was always rather mute on the importance of home instances, what little I found was technically accurate and appears in game, but I think the big problem was more a matter of the playerbase over hyping them and ANet not calming said hype. But that said I really don’t like the implementation of the hope instance, it doesn’t feel particularly home-y, or more accurately I don’t feel it accurately reflects my character. Probably because I don’t have much direct capacity to affect how it looks and feels.
