(snip)…it can also be interpreted – especially the third line above – that humans became important to her, her learning things from them, in a latter time.
This was indeed the intended interpretation.
Thanks, Konig.
Ok then for clarity. Forgotten freed Glint from Kalky’s control (not sure if this is before the Elder Dragons entered hibernation or after) but since http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Altar_of_Glaust seems to indicate it predates the human gods (and thus possibly the arrival of humans) we can assume that she was freed some time around the last rise. From http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Forgotten it appears that the survival plan for the old races were 2 fold, first hide their magic in the blood stones (possibly speeding up when the EDs entered hibernation) and then getting Glint (now free) to help hide them from the EDs.
At this point she wasn’t a very nice dragon, but based on the fact that both the Forgotten and the Brotherhood of the Dragon they might have traded servitude for safety.
Only later after the humans arrived, she started to learn about language, humans, and love and became a nice dragon.
Am I missing anything? Get anything wrong?
Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?
I think primarily what people want are the narrative elements of S1, and since a lot of the current living story is instanced based, there’s no reason why you could remove a lot of the open world elements from S1 put them into an instance and allow players to experience it. A lot of new player complain that they feel lost.
A lot of the open world elements can be modified to fit into instances I believe. The marionette can be scaled back in difficulty, you put all the biconics and yourself into 1 lane, you include the 3 phased boss fights and boom you’ve got a marionette instance. Battle for LA, you make that slightly more linear, you fight a number of small skirmishes (and giant clockworks) until you reach the giant floating drill, and then the next instance is a scaled version of the Scarlet hologram fight, followed by the Scarlet Stomp. You can basically do the same with flame and frost (although it might end up being a lot like the current fractal so maybe it would need a bit of a twist) and with Southsun, Tower of Nightmare etc. A lot of the LW content can for the most part be placed in an instanced allowing players to experience the story. Doing so will also offer opportunity to improve on some narrative elements you felt were lacking or unclear.
Which is why it’s likely not on top priority. Reworking old content for the story journal is likely not on anyone’s top priority list. Especially with players screaming that they want new content.
But it does feel as though it could be planned out. Place holder entries can be added to the story journal and then as time goes by pieces (not necessarily in a sequential) order can be added, based on the difficulty of converting it. It’s not ideal but it would provide a sense of progress.
With that in mind, it would be easy for a lot of LS1 instances to be rebranded with an NPC standing outside saying, “Man, I remember being here when we had that huge assault on the Tower of Nightmares. Hundreds of brave adventurers charging in, and almost as many bodies being carted out again. It was, to put it bluntly, nightmarish.”
This would be the… easy I guess. But do we need a NPC talking about the past? Currently in the personal story (as others have noted) simply having a green star floating around is fine. Unless ANet considered proper phasing mechanics (and by proper I don’t means WoW or ESOs practically instanced phasing).
Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?
as (instanced) raid content perhaps? as some people asked for similar content when it comes to large group coordination.
Although from a narrative perspective, do we want to cut off access to a part of the story? Maybe do both solo instance and group raid, but tweaks were needed.
I know I’d hate it if important story and narrative elements were cut off to me because I couldn’t find X-number of component people to do it with me…
with raids, absolutely.
The only way it could logically work is to have instanced raid conent.
So many people wanting raids… I don’t disagree with raids, but isn’t it going to be just as much work to turn it into a raid as it would be to turn it into a solo, or small group instance?
My personal preference, is to make the living story season 1 into narrative episodes, rather than just recreating the events. So like, you learn about the fight against the marionette, rather than fight her. This is probably less than what people are hoping, but I think it would be easier to do then scaling down everything for 1-5 people.
But why? Why not scale back the difficult of some of the marionette mobs and then close the other lanes and have you and the bi-conics fighting in one lane? Why’s everyone jumping between two extremes? (that is raids, or not at all). How about we have a small scaled back instance of Marionnete (for story purposes) and then we can have the big 30 man or whatever raid, with more difficult mechanics and needing more coordination.
Like everyone else I love the library.
Although I don’t know about the technical side, I suspect that the library is a easy and relatively cheap way of delivering lore (since it’s only text). Personally I would prefer longer pieces of text, although this leads to another comment.
It is kind of nice in the Elder Scrolls games how you open a book and there’s a book with pages you can turn on your screen. Even the MMO does this
pic for comparison to our UI for books.
Very much this. I’m not sure how difficult it would be to implement, but I do feel that it could only improve the experience.
Of course if you really wanted to make me happy I’d love it if ANet could implement a lore journal. Something similar to Mass Effects codecs. An in game source of lore that can be accessed anywhere. The ability to explore the world and unlock entries I think has a lot of potential. The issue with the library of course is that at present it’s only available via the living story. People who want to reference the lore might not feel like going through the effort each time (although I still think having to unlock it somehow would add a gameplay element).
I loved that that NPC actually acknowledge that I exists (in the pack camp… YEAH I’m hard as nail XD ). Referring to Elder Scrolls again, one of the things I liked was the NPC dialog and how it changed as you progressed through the game.
Dialog was also much improved. Previously the dialog required a lot of next, next, next if you weren’t particularly interested in said dialog. This time you could either end the dialog or if you wanted go through the dialog option. A example I can think of is the Zepherites in the pack camp, right off the bat you could choose to either end the dialog or you could ask them about more about the zepherites (but oh I wish I could have asked them even more!). I also loved that we got more dialog option (would be nice if you could introduce the old personality system again), which although they didn’t have much impact was still nice (previously we only had 1 dialog option and it didn’t always match the player attitudes or feelings regarding current events… the Phlunt and Tiami incident comes to mind).
I personally like a lot of the new season 2 writing. What I’d like to see less of however is the re-writing of established GW1 lore to fit the new story direction. I’m not saying everything that has already been established has to be set in stone, but I’d like to see a little more reverence shown to the world many of us know and love. Even new lore gets a rewrite too easily (sylvari firstborn, secondborn and Scarlett).
Retconning will eventually happen however. Since ANet couldn’t possibly have planned out more than a decades worth of lore when they started developing GW1 it seems only natural that as they go into new directions with the game things will be rewritten.
The only issue I have is with the communication (i.e. please Anet give us a lore journal ;D )
I loved that they’re providing us with more dialogue options (even if they don’t really do anything, having the option is always nice). I think we’re still being a bit passive aggressive with Canach (although I personally think we’re being too passive in our aggression :P ) but other players apparently like him.
New map is awesome, new meta is awesome (I think there’s a lot of potential in this, the only issue is that there isn’t enough progression i.e. more defense levels, more varying tactics and enemy mobs). I guess what I’m trying to say is, give me even more
I think the map lacks a bit of the vertical-ity we saw in Dry Top although I guess removing the need to zypherite crystals was probably a right choice given the player responses. Still I’m hoping ANet continues experimenting, I’m kinda hoping that if we ever get to see more of the Tengu they include some verticality… they’re bird people after all). Do love that we got a bit of a larger map this time around (if ANet uses these maps as a measure of the bare minimum size, we can actually get to see even more of Tyria! Some interesting map stuff data mined here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK0SWR0ksD4)
Story was great, loved the library / archive, although I’d love to see it available outside of the living story, if only because I can see a lot of potential if the lore team keeps expanding and adding more things to read (although maybe ANet could also look at creating a better reading interface? The current dialogue interface is ok, but I can’t help but feel that it limits the amount of text and readability a bit. Maybe a book-like UI?). At the very least I do feel that adding more books is a relatively easy way (no need to do voice overs and what no) to add more lore to the game. Now if only we could have a lore journal (possibly we can unlock these books?) and/or bestiary accessible from the UI
The puzzle bosses was a lot of fun, I think we need more of these. Although I’m unsure how many people prefer these sort of bosses over the more ‘classical’ MMO style bosses such as the Shadow of the Dragon. I do think however that some of the appeal is lost once you’ve figures out the ‘how’ of the puzzle (after all the fun in the puzzle is figuring it out, and once you have the challenge is somewhat lost).
Well it would be sad if they didn’t reuse the map, at least as a fractal. Maybe expand it a bit as a new map, but I’m not sure how that would fit in. Would it only be accessible via the Priory? Doing it that way might obscure it a bit for new players who might not know that if they go to the Priory do action A, B and C they can access a new map.
Cantha would be hard either way since Anet is terrified of china…
Welp, I’m done with the forum. See you guys in two years.
Don’t worry it’s never been proven to be the reason.
Those should be permanent. I wouldn’t worry about it. Recently all content they release is permanent content.
I know, my fear of course is that 1 year from now all the players would have moved on to new content, and if they implement systems like Dry Tops it might be very difficult if not impossible to solo to a high enough tier to buy items or get access to items.
But you’d be doing the same thing at 100 as you would be doing now. It adds nothing.
I fact it only takes away. Takes away all the time and effort I put into getting the few pieces of ascended gear my generally casual play allowed. Inherently raising the cap is synonymous with the gear treadmill… which I do not agree with. More abilities, more armor skins, more maps, more profession-weapon combinations etc. are all valid ways of providing the sense of progress without invalidating previous progress.
level cap
10 posts below yours..
reading and being aware of one’s own surroundings is a wonderful thing…
The later at least hasn’t been important since we stopped living in the jungle under the constant threat of lions and tigers and stuff in the underbrush :P
oki… alot of you made a great point, which is we dont want the gear grinding to come to this game, which is a good point
but there is still a good idea up there for the general PvE maps, which make it change with the living world, like adding new factions and new tasks for those non dungeon runners, or those that are leveling new chracters, I think that would be something great to the general PvE
and instead of new armor rarity with new required level, add new skins as @Beldin.5498 said.btw, why not adding a legendary Armor, what do you guys think ?
Well I’ll always agree with more PvE maps, new factions (do we have any current factions though? Mechanically speaking of course) and tasks. Not so sure about legendary armor though, well make them stat wise equal to ascended and I’ll be game.
This needs to be merged with the other thread.
Hopefully a mod will get around to that, they’re only human after all.
Would be nice if ANet at least hyped it a bit more… or maybe not. Don’t feel like wading though an ocean of ‘ANet hypes everything too much’ threads.
I’m not that concerned with grind, as long as there’s no cut off time or punishment for not grinding as quickly as possible (like I’m sure will be the case with geodes… and might be again for bandit chests…).
Better rewards? I’m all in! As long of course as ANet also retroactively rewards said better rewards… Granted I’m only at 12k, but judging from the leaderboards (https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/achievements) there’s a lot of people a lot higher than me and I’m sure none of them would be pleased to essentially be punished for having played the game.
at least one person in there has opened a million bags.
I think for all that time, money or effort the guy probably deserves a skin :O
There are people that gathered several thousands of those tinfoils, by the way (look at the Gwynefyrdd thread).
Always nice to have access to an exploit.
Not sure if this is an exploit though, since ANet developed this to very much to allow for multiple entries.
I don’t understand how opening more ToT bags than other people is an exploit.
Because you have cash for it.
You can afford something others can’t.I think they should be called hackers too.
Ban them all. Forever. Ever. Kthx.
This sounds like real life politics… You have too much money, you need to redistribute it to make things, “fair”.
Just because I spent several hundred gold on ToT bags, doesn’t make it an exploit… What about the people who bought foil wrappers on the gem store? Is that an exploit?
Nope that is pay to win which is acceptable in the context of this game.
Wanted to argue against the ‘pay to win’ part, however since it is a raffle, and there are clear distinctions between winning and losing (i.e. getting a skin or not) I guess pay to win is actually being used accurately for once… if we ignore the randomness… I guess pay to stand-a-better-change-of-winning doesn’t sound as nice. Ok I’m confused, let’s just call it pay to win, simple and clean.
‘Would disappear without notification’
That’s a very american way of thinking.
‘I wonder if santa clause is gonna go away when christmas ends’
‘Will the easter bunny stay after easter?’get it?
wait, what does that have to do with being an American? Anyone can think stupid like that.
I take it you’re American :P
But other than the opportunity for some mild joshing, I guess I do agree…
Oh really? Seems rather international to me, with origins in Scandinavia. And hey, the North Pole isn’t located in the U.S.
Santa is a very American incarnation of dear old Saint Nic though. Although no Black Peters (ah accidental racism…) or Krampus so that’s a nice change.
Could I suggest that a solution going forward, would be to have the vendors themselves announcing their departure in game? A few lines of spoken dialogue activated a few days before they depart, informing players that they will be moving on soon would not only add an element of immersion but negate the need for out of game announcements and the inevitable spate of ‘Is vendor X staying/going’ posts that occur near the end of every event.
Or a very clear, capitalized and bold-ed message on the launcher might work. But no solution is particularly fool proof.
Well it’s an interesting meta-event. I don’t see why other zones couldn’t get something similar (i.e. giving players more things to do in them). Well other than time and effort required to implement it. Still hoping to see a snow-storm in Shiverpeaks or a… crystal storm in the brand? Ok there’s not a lot of storm options but still zone wide meta-events that introduce new rewards and visual changes would be nice (as long as it doesn’t mean removing any present content… hate it when new means less).
Not a single ’I’m mad’ poster has given me even a copper of their stuff. They say they love the game, why don’t they give to the people that still play it.
C’mon, Guzzi. I could use some Ectoplasm, to Salvage into Dust.
Because your suppose to catch them prior to them quitting the game not afterward. Why would you reinstall and relog back into a game you no longer enjoy? It doesn’t really matter if he makes random people who still play the game happy or not if he isn’t gonna play the game anymore.
On a side note though if you give him a reason “worth” his time to relog in pretty sure youll be able to get that stuff
Good point. New suggestion: But a donate button on the forums, so when someone makes a leaving-thread they can donate their stuff to some random lucky forumite. Granted giving away your stuff would make it very difficult to come back… which is very often the case.
When I clicked on the title I was hoping for a lighthearted discussion about how much Asura suck… and how adorable Quaggans are…
We’ll hopefully be seeing it in game today.
Loki was a trickster who was playing a bit of a balancing act between acting how he wanted (trickster, known to do dirty deeds) and trying to get in better view of his father and half-brother (Odin and Thorn respectively).
When he orchestrated Baldur’s murder (and then subsequently prevented his resurrection), then went on to a party where he bragged about it and subsequently insulted the entire pantheon… well I don’t think trickster is a good word to describe him, of course I also suspect that vikings might have had a slightly darker sense of humor.
They should create separate instances for PS
Word (for PS and LS).
Not exactly sure what’s being referred to here since all (well I can think of like one exception, but all still seems the fitting word) personal story does take place in instances and a lot of living story as well. I’d imagine you’re referring to different instances of the pve world depending on the players progression in terms of PS and LS (sort of like what happened in GW1). ANer however doesn’t like the idea of needlessly separating players, which such a system would involve. Some mild phasing maybe.
I like it, players have been suggesting similar things in the past since just shy of release. It never really got much traction, or at least ANet never really seemed interested in it. But hey maybe!
I guess ANet probably doesn’t see the value in enriching game play experience when compared to crafting new experiences via new content.
Prometheus simply could not put up a fight against Zeus and the rest of the gods, and he was imprisoned in Tartarus (analog to GW’s Realm of Torment) where he was tortured for the rest of eternity.
Well he was eventually freed by Hercules and you know apparently he and Zeus got over their differences. Abaddon however was unquestionably evil at the end. I’d much rather liken him to Loki… although Loki was unquestionably evil from the start. Further similarities include Nightfall being the product of Abaddon trying to escape and Ragnarok somewhat tied to Loki’s escape (although it’s highly likely that the story of Loki was influenced by that of Prometheus given that most Norse legends were only captured in the 12th century well into the Christianisation of Europe).
Well the new trailer might hint at us possibly learning a bit more about any possible link between the EDs and the gods. So I’m excited.
Only problem I can see for changes in low level areas is the possibility of LS spoilers.
Or we could call it foreshadowing
I just noticed that Zhaitan and Mordremoth are switched between the cinematic and the ceiling design.
M is where the black orb is; Z is where the green orb is.
In other words it was Zhaitan that merged with the central orb(supposed to be the Pale Tree).
Zhaitan is dead and considering how Faolain turned Nightmare in Orr….
Could she be the new Dragon of Death/Undeath? Could we have just handed the Nightmare Court the power of Zhaitan on a golden platter!?!
Or maybe the Pale Tree absorbed Zhaitan’s power… maybe she’s using us to kill all the dragons… I’m getting Shadow of the Colossus flashbacks here… coming soon The Tree Dragon :P
Then the Inquest also got it wrong, as in the Infinity Coil Reactor, while the placements don’t line up with the vision, the colors do. And Black = Risen (aka Zhaitan). While Green = plants (including husks) aka Mordremoth.
I thought it was a the mainsteam Asuran believe that the Inquest aren’t very smart.
So if the crashing orb is Zhaitan rather than Mordremoth, it could represent Zhaitan’s death and the release of Zhaitan’s magic into Tyria.
Or the Pale Tree’s nefarious plot to absorb all the magic for herself :P
Or, somewhat more disturbingly, the liquid form of life as opposed to the solid form? (But which is which?)
Isn’t that the mists? Although the mists aren’t liquid… judging purely by it’s name.
Well WoodenPotato has a video on the new video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvoOF8xqOPU
Meh.. I can tell you right now the entirety of what Ababbon’s influence will be on the story:
We research him & what he did to help find new ways to fight the dragons. Done.
I’m thinking this as well. Although knowing ANet we’d probably also get at least 10 new potential plot threads that will be left hanging… in other words a lot of new material to discuss over on Lore and Story.
We’re probably going to an old Abaddon temple, seeing as how he was the god of secrets I’m sure he knew a thing or two about the Elder Dragons.
Well it’s a nice idea, and a lot of games are playing around with the idea (I’m thinking of Everquest Next, although I guess the Foundry is also an example).
At the very least ANet would have to provide tools with which we players can produce content and although I’m sure they have in-house tools those tend to be horribly slap together and not user friendly. It might take months for ANet to steamline and polish their in-house tools to allow players to use it (a badly design tool would serve only turn players away and that’s not what you want in the player generated content).
The second problem of course is that GW2 isn’t really setup to allow for a player content system. Assuming the tools are there and you can let say produce a fractal, how will it be submitted? Will it be reviewed? How will players gain access to it? What if someone tries to create a fractal that requires 0 skill but drop loot like crazy?
Then we get to the biggest impediment of all, ANet’s company culture. Is there enough buy in? Is ANet willing to allow users to upload content which could be of an offensive or poor quality? Are management and developers ok with losing some control over the user experience?
But that aside, I do like the idea of player generated content, who wouldn’t? Ideally it’s a win win situation for players and developer.
I think the easiest way that this could occur is as follows: ANet produces the tools and opens it up to the community. Regularly ANet creates competitions where players can produce content using the tool and then submit it to ANet for review and possible inclusion into the game (in return for gems or in game items or something). This way ANet doesn’t have to worry about the quality or content that’s being produced as they’d review it. They’d also be able to further refine submitted content, or combine it with other submission. So ANet still has control over their game.
The old races (dwarves, mursaat, seers, forgotten, and the fifth) were around BEFORE the gods came to Tyria. I’m not sure if they had command over magic back then, though.
Jotun (the fifth race) oral tradition (as reliable as that might be) does also seem to indicate that they were a extremely magically gifted people at one point, before the human gods took magic from them.
Well it’s really all a matter of definitions. If we define the Soundless as being a philosophical movement then OP is mostly correct, however if we define Soundless as those not connected to the dream (and thus no longer hear the dream i.e. are soundless) and thus define it as a state of being then Scarlet was a Soundless.
I’d love this, but it’s probably not that big of a deal breakers since they do still release conventional armors. But still, would be nice.
Got my one 2 years ago (store both in the bank so no need to unlock any more skins)… still nice that others will also be able to get it. Now ANet just needs to allow me to upgrade it to ascended… or at least exotic.
Fractals and playing dress up isnt end game content.
This is subjective. It’s more than possibly for it to be end game, just no for you.
I love crafting in any mmo, I usually horde mats and such. GW2 theres no reason to, why waste my time when all crafting is for is the nicest gear, but there is no reason to have it unless you want to run a 5-man fractal (5 MAN!?, might as well call it an expert dungeon)
Are you asking for a gear treadmill? No.
There are too many games out there that have everything gw2 has and much more.
Such as?
End game does not necessarily equate to instanced raids for all people.
My sentiment exactly, I think the mindset of raids = endgame is potentially hazardous as games with end game raiding tend to only focus on end game raiding…
As long as Agony Resistance is the way you progress, I’m okay with it. I don’t want to be able to come back to Arah in Tier 76 gear and one shot all the enemies. IMO Agony Resistance is a good balance between grinding for stats and a lack of stat grind.
I know it’s only 1s and 0s but any system that will invalidate all the effort I’ve put into my gear is not one I want to be part of.
OMG bro this is like me typing yes dress up game is no end game and yes this is AMASSING game and can be much better then it is now it got so much potential raids are first step into going there
I don’t mind raids, I honestly don’t. I just don’t want a WoW clone, I left WoW because I got tired of raiding 4 hours a night 3 nights a week (i.e. being a casual player) and having all that effort become meaningless just because a new raid was released.
this game does have end game its called WvW a well geared player can have way way too much fun there
End game does differ for different people. My fear as I’ve stated is that raids might become the only focus of ANet.
2: whilst I am very much looking forward to the raid discussion and chatting with you all about it I do want to make it clear that this last CDI has been excellent, with maturity and collaboration throughout. So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.
Well you’re not going to get load of drunken frat boys at the black and white foreign film festival… I think given the nature of the next discussion (raiding) we’ll probably see a lot of difference opinions and not all of them mature or constructive… Raiding is simply topic that draw the interest or revulsion of a a lot of people.
I am sure alot of the true gamer already meet the requirement.
So someone that plays differently than you do is not a “true” gamer?
Welcome to video gaming, the land of the TRUE Scotsmen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zzSqL--d_I
Sometimes the community makes me want to leave… of course then I’m reminded that most of the forum-ites aren’t even players…
I was honestly thinking of enlisting the help of other frequent forum members to put together a large, updating road map based on player input, but then I remembered that I’m lazy.
This wouldn’t be a roadmap it would be a wish list, and most likely a completely unrealistic and generally dumb one at that.
Well I think there might be a bit of nostalgia creeping in regarding marionette… but it does feel like it’s something ANet should and could easily re-implement if only to give us something new-ish to do.
I’m hoping that you don’t actually get to defeat Mordremoth at the end of the season. I think it’s still too early to be taking down another elder dragon. What would be nice is a climactic battle with one of Mordremoth’s champions. It could even be the Shadow of a Dragon again except with new and interesting mechanics.
I like this idea.
Or a fight against Mordremoth that actually results in a failure! (due to some unforeseen event or whatever)
I like this idea even better!
I agree. It would become rather lame and predictable if ArenaNet have us routinely and successfully knocking off an elder dragon one after another each season until they’re all gone.
You can’t kill an elder dragon, just like you can’t kill magic.
cough Abaddon cough Zaitan cough
Time to put my lore nerd cap on. Abaddon was surely killed but his magic still remained, and had to be transferred to Komir. Zaitan was killed but there some (fan theories) that his magic was transferred to Tequatl. This it would be more accurate to say that although the individual in which the power resides can be killed the power that defined them (in the case of an ED the power that made them a ED) does not die with them.
Must not… provide a sarcastic answer… to the title question… must resists…
But anyway I like the new interface, it’s nice and informative and although I do think having the ability to select specific amount would have been ideal in addition to what they did I don’t take it as any sort of personal insult, mostly because I’m a fairly self confident type of guy and thus don’t take every little things all that seriously or personally.
Well to be honest its a matter of tradition. GW1 didn’t have any mounts so GW2 doesn’t either. I think to a certain extent it also help to make GW2 a bit different from the other MMOs out there. Flying mounts specifically however introduce a bit of a challenge (as we saw in WoW Cata when they introduced flying mounts in the old world and had to remodel a lot of areas to make them flying mount compatible). In GW2 where areas are big instances flying mounts would also pose a challenge (since you could flying over natural barriers such as mountains).
Halloween 2012 was amazing, then came the crash of Halloween 2013, and now a rehash of 2013 again. Disappointing and feels kinda boring.
2013 wasn’t objectively bad, it was just relatively horrible.
I am sorry you feel this way. But there is limitations to how Armor works and how Outfits work, they have already said they can’t make outfits into armor. Its a technical limitation.
You realize that doesn’t make any sense right? It’s the matter of minutes to cut the texture/mesh into separate pieces to make it a regular armor set.
But it’s a matter of hours to ensure no clipping issues with every single other piece of armor that’s available in the game. I think ANet just doesn’t feel like having to listen to even more armor clipping issues complaints…
The same Halloween story from last year is still there for this year. Was there no intention to continue the story of the bloody prince? I don’t like it. ArenaNet seem very lazy and not very passionate. I doubt you want it to look like that.
We were basically informed of this a while ago. It’s a bit sad they couldn’t copy paste 2012 content (even though I do believe a lot of players asked for it), but yeah.
It’s a programming error. Instead of “function load_halloween_2014()”, they did “function load_halloween_2013()”. An easy to make mistake, but it’s too late to fix it now. The 2014 content will be next year
What?
Its a joke :P
We can stick to the possibilities we know. Based on Majory’s description, “E” is a human male with no necromatic power. Therefore, there are 3 possibilities:
E is a human male.
E is a mesmer who disguises himself as a human male, or has the help of one.
E is a group of people that includes a human male.I’m partial to the last one, but that there is a true E, and others go out to say they are E.
Also, the more I think about it, the more I am getting a DeathNote vibe here…
An organisation dealing in secrets… that might be a bit redundant given the existence of the Order of Whispers. Unless E is to the Order of Whispers as the Consortium is to the Black Lion Company.
Also, the more I think about it, the more I am getting a DeathNote vibe here…
That the player character is going to die mysteriously? :P
Actually that was foreshadowed in the first episode. Honestly I was more sad about the fact that Misa killed herself (well it’s only eluded to in the anime). But I guess we’ve already had our minor character death…
if e was faren it’d be because he was thinking of (E)nigma and that it sounded cool or something stupid like that
Or maybe it’s all been an act! Maybe Faren has been pretending to be a completely incompetent idiot in order to go unnoticed!
My only complain: we need even more of it!
Keep up the good work.
I´m more or less new player
Well then more or less welcome!
Anyway Xiahou Mao.9701 is right, you can’t skip any steps.

We know that there is a connection with sylvari and the Mordremoth, but as far as I know, the Nightmare Court is only interested in causing misery, strife and conversions of their siblings. They might not have any solid dedication to this dragon. They cannot convert more followers if they are dead.
Specifically it’s an ideological difference. The nightmare court consider nightmare to be the natural state of the sylvari and that ventari’s tablet is the corruption. The pain and misery is their way of ‘putting things right’.
If Mordy is the source of the nightmare then it’s possibly that the nightmare court could side with him. Although I think doing so would be a waste of the concept of the dream and of nightmare.
Well likely see a mixup nightmare court/mordrem like the sons of svanir and the minions of jormag.
Sons however know they’re siding with Jormah though. I’m not sure given the general ‘nightmare = freedom’ mindset of the nightmare court would go so well with becoming slaves of mordy. However that doesn’t mean mordy couldn’t just straight up corrupt them. Maybe we and Faolin can team up together!
Have they severed themselves from the Dream? Isn’t the Nightmare part of the Dream? The Nightmare Court doesn’t reject the Pale Tree, but wants to “free” her from Ventari’s influence. That may be enough for the Pale Tree to shield them from takeover by Mordremoth, even if the Nightmare is a reflection of his thoughts.
That’s the other side of the argument. We really know little about the dream or nightmare to be fair so anythings possible.
Because scarlet briar = lvl 1 character with bad willpower check
Because player = lvl 80 character with great willpower checkits a simple mather of ‘’because im to powerfull for the machine to have an effect on me’’
rolled 20 on willpower check so not to change alignment from neutral good to chaotic evil on turning into a demon kitten
It was actually stated that the machine was altered and modified since Scarlet had her go. Most likely increasing the general safety of the experience. There’s also a question around if we got our own vision or if we simply got a replay of Scarlet’s vision.
Being a Guildwars 1 playing, I am trying to piece all the LS events together in some way that makes sense to me:
1.) The Brotherhood of the Dragon was an ancient order of dwarves in Service of Glint, who betrayed Kraklatorrik and was killed in the final battle of Destiny’s Edge. Before Glint’s end, we know she had offspring. There were many eggs in her chamber.
2.) The Brotherhood of the Dragon dwarves undertake the Great Dwarf’s blessing, turning to stone to chase the destroyers into the earth. The leadership of the Brotherhood of the Dragon transitions to the Zephyrites.
Maybe… I don’t know zephyrite never interested me so I never followed up on their lore much.
3.) Ventari plants the Pale Tree, which is somehow connected to Mordremoth (the true nature of this relationship is unknown). We know there are other pale trees. We know that the awakening of Mordremoth has some sort of controlling effect on Sylvari NOT protected by the Pale Tree (i.e. Soundless). This is also evidenced by what happened to Scarlet.
What we do know as a fact is that a soldier known as Ronan found a seed in a cave guarded by plant monsters (the seed was one of many). He took a seed and when he returned home his family had been killed. He planted the seed on their grave and later joined Ventari (who’s tablet would later become the philosophy of the Sylvari).
So it was Ronan that planted the seed not ventari, but the rest seems correct.
4.) Pact defeats Zhaitan, the dragon is destroyed but its power goes elsewhere. Tequatl almost obtains Zhaitan’s power and attempts to rise as the next elder dragon but is defeated by the Hylek/Pact alliance.
Fan theory. We don’t know but I’m personally disposed towards this theory myself.
5.) Mordremoth wakes up, wrecks two forts, and makes targeted strike on the the Zephyrites using a soundless. The Master of Peace suddenly disappears and embarks on some secret mission.
Correct.
6.) In Omadd’s machine we where shown the balancing powers of Tyria with each Elder Dragon being represented by an orb. Like the Gods, I believe that Draconic power cannot be destroyed but can possibly be transferred when one dies. Omadd’s Machine shows Pale Tree at the center of balance and the green orb expanding to consume everything. I believe this indicates that Mordremeth knows of Zhaitan’s defeat and is attempting to claim the power left behind. This would throw off the balance of the world.
Again fan theory. The vision was shown but never really explained. It’s possible that the reason the Pale Tree was on the middle was because the machine showed us Scarlet’s vision and from Scarlet’s vision and with her being a Sylvari her perspective would have placed the Pale Tree in the center of the world.
7.) Mordremoth makes a targeted strike on the Pale Tree through one of its champions. After this battle, the Pale Tree shows the players a vision that will tie everything together.
No idea if it will tie everything together…
My speculation is that the artifact is one of Glint’s eggs and Zhaitan’s power is being inherited by that unborn child.
That would tie things together nicely.
before you go ‘piecing things together’ i want you to consider how the big mysterious revelation of season 1 was corrupted sylvari warlord amasses an attack against {insert location here} tadah lion’s arch… all i’m saying is don’t knock yourself out ^^
That wasn’t actually a mystery, we were being given very not so subtle hints the for some time before the actual attack that there was an attack. There was actually a lot of discussion around the incompetence of the captains council and the lionguard (Evon for president!) because of this. The big mystery was the awakening of an elder dragon.
I believe the general thrust of CDI commentary has been to find ways to make the guild hall system inclusive, an enhancement to game play, and broadly accessible.
My overall impressions on this CDI :
– We want to play the sims with our GH
– We want Anet to allow guilds of all sizes to enjoy the basic functionnalities of the GH
– guild should have beacon mecanics.
– GvG is highly desired, whether inside the GH itself or not. (Some would like their GH to be a customisable GvG map)
– Guild upgrades should be reworked
– Influence and merits have problems, but we did not find a consensual solution in the CDI
– there should be multiple ways to acquire GH
– if the GH are developped, they will be mostly instanced (sorry for you fans of airships. The idea is cool, but the devs are more on the side of instance)
– alliances have been mentionned. Several good ideas about alliance GH but we need a good solution to manage divorces in alliances
– there is a demand for more guild content in WvW, the game mode where guilds are the most relevant and most militarisedNothing is this list will be developped for sure by Anet. A CDI is a suggestion box, not an official statement.
So is this a decent summary? Seems decent enough list of things… wished we could discuss the beacon mechanics a bit more… although I’m probably one of those people who wanted a combo open world / instanced guild halls so I’ll just assume it’s a bad idea given merit only by my own personal biases.
Do hope ANet do something similar to wild star where our instances have an outside and an inside (this way we can get an airship theme i.e the outside has a very cloudy sky box).
My final suggestion is : Anet, do not forget to polish the content that already exist in the game (dungeons, fractals, world bosses, UW combat etc…) before commiting your team to create a new feature. Otherwise people will be frustrated to no end.
Always good advice.
I think they’re going to muck it up and do something stupid with the LS ending.
That’s the spirit!

I must say I’m extremely impressed at how well you take all this non-stop and nonconstructive criticism… I’d say sorry for the players… but I can only speak for myself… I think you’re doing a good job though if that helps.
