In short: it’s about genetically modified warriors, whose creators used demons’ flesh and blood to create half-human half-demon fighters. They can release a bit of this demonic power to increase their abilities, yet at a cost: they might turn into demons, Awakened Beings, themselves.
Only watched the anime but from what I picked up in the wikia it’s not really demon flesh, rather the flesh of the Asarakam (Dragon Kin) is used to produce a parasite which infects human to create a Yoma whose flesh is then placed into a human to produce a claymore. But yeah I get where you’re coming from.
Dragon magic corrupts, twisting the minds of those affected. “Attuning” to a dragon would do nothing but make the user a dragon minion. Only means known to counter it is the Altar of Glaust and a specific ritual that must be used there. Such a profession would make zero sense in the personal storyline; a new profession should make sense in the personal storyline (and hopefully, a new race too, ideally – otherwise it’d need an entirely unique personal storyline – whereas if it is to use the old PS, it only needs unique PS for chapters 1-3, with some new voice overs and dialogue text rewrites throughout, especially if it’s an exotic race).
Well the Inquest had some mild success in utilizing Dragon Energy so it’s not completely impossible.
The biggest problem for me in regards to the PS change was simply the lack of proper in-game communication regarding that it’s now locked. Otherwise it’s not really what I’d call a massive game breaking change.
What I don’t get is how people can be confused with “kitten , I failed that mission, maybe if I gained one or two levels I would be able to pass it…”
Now they have to be told “Nah, you’re too weak and unskilled to be able to continue. Gain 10 levels and you’ll be able to continue”…
Actually I think the change more had to do with creating a single cohesive narrative chapter that could be played right through where previously the story would be broken up by you having to firstly gain another level or two.
Why is Dark-souls a popular RPG franchise? Because its story is told through the environment, the game, the game play of the world, not through the story and dialogue and exposition of a singular cast of characters whose involvement is the only thing we ever get indulged with.
Well some popularity is also attributable (I’d wager to a far larger degree) to the ‘hardcore’ title it carries around and partially also to the popularity itself… although I doubt I’d be able to adequately explain that last point.
They could add them kinda like fractals. The letter you got about fractals says: “Fractals of the Mists! Re-live the greatest and most exciting moments from Tyria’s past as you test your strength, speed, and skill against some of the most formidable opponents from the annals of history.”
Doesn’t S1 fit there too?
No need I think. Simply by adding it to the story journal and clearly stating that it takes place after Personal Story and before Season 2 should be enough. I think adding it to the fractals is simply adding an unnecessary meta-narrative.
Well I’ll agree on plot-threads and pacing, although I’m not sure how changing how they introduce there stories can address these things.
Well this certainly isn’t a new idea (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/A-Polling-System/ <- 2 years old although given that the forums don’t show years…), although I’m glad to see it getting some ANet attention.
They should be adding permanent content to the game, not taking it away.
Wait what? When was this posted? I’m confused… What temporary content are you referring to?
My theory, the Eye was built by the Elder Dragons, and every cycle the Elder Dragons use the Eye as a portal to allow all the Elder Dragons sleeping in the mist to travel into Tyria and eat all the magic before going back to the Mists. No wait that’s Mass Effect again…
I’ve always found those pirates strange. How is it that in 25 years, hundreds of animated plants casually found their way into pirate-society? It just seems so improbable…
On the other hand, why would hundreds of asura want to join a gang of pirates where they have little chance of pursuing their intellectual goals?
They’re pirates, as long as you can swing a sword and shoot a pistol they’ll allow anyone… even quaggan. Not skritt though (as far as I know), oddly enough. Probably afraid they’d steal all the shinies.
Better yet, combine 2012 content with 2013 content.
+1, come on ANet we want it all!
Bonus points if you give us 2012 + 2013 + a couple of new things (even if they’re just things like pumpkin carving).
Why doesn't the search work on these forums?

Specifically this thread?

Pfft. That thread is only a year old. That’s hardly enough time to have given it proper attention.
Why, yes, that was sarcasm. ;-)
The search hasn’t worked since launch :P
Oh man I can not wait for Guild Halls. I still log into our guild’s guild hall in GW1, just for the nostalgia.
Isle of the Dead. Ascolonian Pre-Searing catacombs theme.
The feels man, the feels.
Well as the CDI inherently a discussion among players and developers and in no way a commitment on the side of the developers to do any work… Well unless guild halls have been in development for a while now I’d say we won’t see anything for at least 6 months (very optimistically) if at all. Although that being said, I’m rather excited at the prospect myself
It was suppose to be a minor change with a minor impact on drop rates.
BETA, by definition, means it is in the second stage of testing. After 2 years of the game, and 1 year of this BETA, it should not be BETA anymore.
Wasn’t GMail in beta for a lot longer than that?
So I logged back into my GW1 account yesterday, just to have a potter about for old times sake.
Did a few “solo” runs including some of the old stuff that I developed for the Ranger’s Beacon in The Jade Sea and The Deep.
Grabbed henchies and heroes and had a few bashes at dropping a froggy sceptre.
Took some folks on a guided tour of the Fissure
Went and capped a Black Widow solo – just because I could.
and then something stopped me in my tracks. I realised that I cared about my toons, felt connected to them. They had a personality and playing the game was FUN!
More than that, I could play GW1 in various styles and no part of the game world was “off limits” or restricted.
And that’s where GW2 has failed. Sure it looks pretty, but there simply isn’t the connection, my toons have no personality and the game is an un-ending grind for cosmetic skins, short term FPS “shoot and scoot” mentality and Anet wasting effort on trivial “improvements” rather than letting players PLAY in a style that suits them.
Sad that after such a short time GW2 has become a pale imitation of its predecessor.
Unfortunately ANet can’t do anything about how you feel about things or the narratives you generate for your characters. I guess they could include henchmen to address you’re other complaint.
Please A-Net i beg you…….
Bring back
-Multiple skills to choose from
-Bring back death penalty
-Bring back Monster Necros who raise stuff from our bodys
-Take away reviving from everyone but Guardian and Necro
- Bring back Cantha and Elona
None of these have anything to do with OPs comment and most of them are actually a step backwards…
If GW2 is not working then why has it out lasted 2 major mmorpg that play a lot like it?
I’d say OP was using hyperbole but hyperbole is purposeful overstatements not intended to be taken seriously (no one expects it to take a literal millions years or for the place to be a literal million miles away). So if it’s not hyperbole…
But for the most part I think OP is confusing his point of view with well reality. GW2 is not working for him, so he assumes that he’s perspective is flawless and universal and thus is a representation of reality i.e. because GW2 isn’t working for him obviously it’s not working at all.
GW1 induces feelings, GW2 is just becoming a flat, bore-fest.
Well it’s clearly inducing a feeling of dislike in you :P
GW2 is not an MMORPG. It is, maybe a MMOFPS. There is no RPG in GW2 because there is no freedom to create anything other than cookie cutter toons. And at that there is a desire to make all classes the same. Take away the holy-trinity and every toon just becomes same old same old.
GW1 had WAY more RPG to it, way more Co-op and WAY more community.
I think you’re confusing the genre of RPGs with the mechanics usually associated with RPGs. Essentially by your definitions something like Final Fantasy VII is not an RPG because it has neither trait-lines or holy trinity… So I have disagree by stating your definition of RPG is somewhat limited to a purely mechanical (and a very small pool of mechanics at that) view.
What 2 major MMO’s? And GW1 is still the #1 game that’s 10X better than GW2 even if it’s NOT an MMO.
Number one in what regard? I think you’re confusing your opinion for fact.
Missed my first 2 days of GW2 since release of AA ready for my 3rd day and having a blast. Type at ya later.
Glad you’re having fun. Not exactly sure what you’re saying (are you currently playing AA or GW2? What do mean missed? As in ‘longed for’ or as in ‘missed out’) but glad you’re happy.
You just can’t do that in an MMO.
Well not in a open world MMO… well not without heavy phasing and restrictions on where you can go and when.
I liked GW1, but GW2 is a much better game than GW1 ever was.
At least mechanically, man I’m not sure when I’ll ever motivate myself to finish my HoM…
Personally I blame the Black Lion Trading Co.’s questionable procurement of quaggan backpack materials (i.e. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Quaggan_Backpack.jpg) for the decline in their numbers myself.
Funny how ANet hasn’t fixed the farm yet, looking at how quickly the fixes plinx.
Most severs get up to T4 so during the sandstorm you get about 10 per event.
During the sandstorm do: mites, haze, devourer queen, mites, haze, twister, skritt queen (depending on the speed at which you do twister). If you’re lucky you might even get Skritt Burglar. So that’s about 70-80 geodes for 20 minutes or so.
Although it would be very nice of you to help get the server up to T4 by completing out of the way events.
So, the main excuse for not bring back sab was that it don’t fits on the LS narrative, but says this to me anet : We all made a supah important summit with all leaders, got attacked by a furious dragon and pale tree is almost dying.
OK, lets just go collect some treasures around for 3 months while we decide what to do next. Does this fits in your narrative Anet?
I highly doubt development schedules are reflected in lore, much less any delays in content delivery. So I guess you’re argument is fallacious?
NO Blude, this is just me, talking that they sense of “Narrative” into a non- living mmo is very, very wrong. I could talk about any other thinsgs, such wxw that is really far from fit into the narrative of a living world. Neither does we take months between a drastical attack to then start making some steps to retail. And the worse of all : A couple bunch of ppl returning to a destroyed city, and just being stationary there. Not rebuild, not fix anything, not even clear the place. Just dispose their goodies for sale.
They excuse of “Such thing don’t fits in narrative” is nothing more than a mere excuse, and this is what I’m showing on here.
I’m with Blude here, your argument is foundationless, you’re arguing from a narrative or lore perspective (i.e. what makes and does not make sense lore wise) in order to comment on development schedules.
I very rarely see the community saying good things about Anet. It’s always just the bad stuff.
A bad sample there. Some nice comments get made but unfortunately unhappy people are a lot more motivated to get themselves heard, and more willing to go through the effort of stoking the flames. A happy person won’t start 10 threads on the same topic or spam the same comment wherever they can.
I didn’t think 2013 was bad, but yeah didn’t like that we didn’t get the 2012 dungeon back or some of the activities. I don’t mind them adding a new story instance or two, but I don’t like them removing content. I guess it’s possible to have too much content (although at the rate that some player go through content I’m not exactly sure if that’s the case), but at least include Ascent of the Mad King (I need to get me some of those skins :P ).
New caves, hidden areas, old ruins, jumping puzzles etc. would always be welcomes. No reason some Asura can’t blow himself up and reveal a new once long thought hidden area.
As a veteran EQ/EQ2 player accustomed to the wealth of vanity items available in the station store, I found the gem store… disappointing, at best. I say EXPAND IT!!!
There’s a few items that could be in the gem store but ANet prefers to use them for temporary sales or specials. But yeah the more content the better.
Now I’m not dismissing the possible connection between the Sylvari and Mordy (we simply don’t know at this point).
In the fight at Concordia a lone Nightmare Hound (“Thorn Wolf” technically 2 of them but they each come in different waves) was one of the enemies you had to defeat alongside the Mordrem wolves.
That seals it as a connection between the Nightmare Court and Mordremoth for me.
if Mordy can corrupt Sylvari why not Nightmare Hounds, they’re kinda the same species, actually technically speaking since both are born from the Pale Tree…
So each Mawdrey can be used each day to consume blood stone dust? (or else I don’t see any point in having multiples) I mean if you have 2 Mawdreys you can consume twice as many blood stone dusts and get twice as many loot bags?
I want to get me some of those 2012 skins as well, they’re kinda expensive on the TP right now…
i think this was 1/3 or 1/4 look at s1 and if you look at frst 4 ep you can see a lot clifhangers to fill other 3 parts like rydlock in the mists(i think this can be made intro in expansion not LS)what was in zeppeline whay it was burnd out,end cinematic of ep2 , master of peace quest , final cutseen (,,Big Spoiler,, dont know a lot of it but it is something to do to scarlet original plan (b4 she was crazy)to make 2 dragons fight each others) so ther you go if they dont rush tru it they got a lot of things to do
Well it would be wonderful if we could have these numerous story lines playing out in unison, since they’re relatively varied so we don’t get tied down necessarily with the same people and same places. The reality of course is that content is time consuming to make, I guess ANet could restructure themselves a bit and create a number of small teams to work on these various plot lines with their own release schedules but it seems like ANet is focused on the main Living Story.
You know this forum isn’t your personal blog, you don’t have to start a new thread for every story step you’ve completed.
A bit harsh, this is the lore and story forum and the post is about the story so although not particularly the norm around here (usually most people come here to complain about a story step) I don’t see any problem with it.
As an Engineering Manager, IMHO, I would promote this team, and take one of each to lead the other teams… For some strange reason, they seem to be the only team that does things right and keeps their schedule commitments.
I do think the complexity of the content being output doesn’t really compare well to other areas of the game (although the guys making skins could probably show the other areas a thing or two :P ), and I’m unsure if they’re meeting any schedule or just releasing whatever’s done at that time.
And, BTW, the freebies (however small they will be) should be advertised by an e-mail at least. Again, JMHO.
Seeing as how if it wasn’t for this posts I wouldn’t even have known… sure I check the updates but mostly just scan through the names.
Three and a half million threads (approximately) with upwards of twelve billion posts about the recent update, mass hysteria, big foot sightings, cats and dogs living together….and the gem store is the only thing being updated ?
Did you not see the game update notes?
I was commenting on the ridiculousness of the OP’s claim that it seems only the gemstore is being updated when these forums have been buzzing with response to a very recent major update.
It’s called, starting drama… And it is done quite a bit on these forums with varying degrees of success.
How true, how true
We already have an unacceptable, monsterous and vile race that only exists to be hated and, Lyssa willing, eventually destroyed – the Charr.
:P
Actually that’s what I like about the Charr.
I very much doubt the mortals would ever ally themselves to an Elder Dragons or their minions is any major way.
Unless they happen to be Glint (although I guess she wasn’t particularly forward about her Elder Dragon ties so I guess it’s excusable).
….. Korians? Really? Are we also gonna bump into the reviled ‘Chynise’ and the detestable ‘Rushians’ later on?
Actually I didn’t see that. +1
I don’t mind the idea of a less likeable race being added to the game
Wasn’t that the role of the Charr? Villains of the first game, turned allies against a greater threat.
Eh the Charr are pretty much still Charr. They just have slightly different view on religion and gender equality. if they weren’t fighting flame legion, foefire ghosts and branded they’d probably be raiding ebonhawk right now. What you think a militant warrior race is just going to sit around all day?
I believe during an interview about the break someone said mid-season break doesnt mean middle of the season. We could have a few mid-season breaks within the season.
My thoughts as well, although I’d always assumed mid was derived from middle.
they will drag this out for a year with 4-8 week breaks in there for random wvw mini seasons which take 20 mins to complete the meta total wvw time.
That’s actually by design. You see the problem with the previous wvw seasons was that players would spend all their time doing wvw achievements to the detriment of the wvw. You see you need people working together in wvw not running about killing dolyaks. So by adding a simple achievement (which I assume is used to determine whether you get tickets or not) focus can be kept on the wvw.
It requires a slight change in your thinking, as you seem to think of content as being achievement based or at least achievement focused. Granted a lot of ANet’s content has been structured that way, but the wvw tournament is not focused on achievement it’s focused on wvw.
Once ArcheAge comes out (Friday woo) this game is dead to me
That’s cool, hope you have fun. I’m not really into the whole PvP thing myself and the combat seems a bit meh but some of the standbox elements seem extremely interesting.
But please please please just don’t become one of those non-players who still hang out in the forums and complain about a game they no longer play and have no interesting in play.
It is still F2P after purchase so maybe things pick up soon. Who knows maybe we get an expansion some day.
At this point expansion will probably be one of those things they pull out when things aren’t going so well.
I believe that Arenanet has done fairly well for itself this year so far.
Various events
GW2 is realeased in China
Four seasons..or winds (or something) festival with Chinese version of Fear Not This Night
Season 1 of living world was this year I think….or part of it at least
Stuff before season 2 begins
Season 2 begins
50% off the purchase of the game, the only real moment that you absolutely have to spend money to be able to play the game
September pack thingy
WvW Fall tournament
Halloween event
Season 2 continues
Probably other stuff in store for us during 2014 (maybe another pack?)
Christmas event
etc
There will always be someone who will find something to complain about. The problem is with ANet attempting to appeal to a wide range of players. One thing I’ll say for Archage (well in addition to finding those sandbox elements interesting) is that it is a very limited title, which is not a bad thing. The strong focus on PvP and hardcore content means that it’s very much targeting a very specific audience. So in the case of GW2 there’s no way ANet can produce content to satisfy the casual or hardcore pve-ers, the pvp-ers and the wvw-ers at the same time so someone will always find something to complain about.
What that list is so stupid.
The only things that were ‘NEW content’ for us were:End of Season 1
April Feature Pack
Start of Season 2
September Feature PackChina? They could release the game in any part of the world, it doesn’t change anything for us.
“Festival of the four winds” was just “Bazaar of the four winds” with some changes.
Who cares about 50% off? We already have the game.
Also the WvW tournaments changes nothing of the content = No new content. The only hope for us is that we see something before Halloween (SAB, SAB, SAB!) or some new stuff for Halloween.
This is a good example of what I’m talking about.
My guess is the Halloween patch starts at the end of the WvW series, and after Halloween the living story resumes.
So glad they separate the story in game with halloween… the two together would’ve been so confusing… like dragons and pumpkins… oh my god, I wouldn’t know what to do!
What, you haven’t heard of Pumpkiragon? He is the almighty Lord of Suffering, the terrible King of Terror, Prince of Agony, he is the Pumpkin Dragon! The unholy spawn of The Mad King and Zhaitan, he has usurped the magic that was lost in the death of Zhaitan, and now hungers for the bloodmagic of Mordremoth, Jormag, and Primordus!
Actually I’m kinda liking the idea of the Pumpkin Dragon…
Sadly this probably won’t happen. Awhile back they announced they disbanded their dungeon team and had no plans to do new dungeons or continue to update the existing ones currently.
I don’t seem to remember them saying this, and I’m pretty sure there would have been a significant uproar if ANet had actually said this. Any link perhaps?
Dry Top has been ok to good but the zones and their events are awful but some people like them.
Dry top events are very simple and straight forward (no quest chains or random timers etc.) meaning they’re grind-friendly… so yeah bit niche appeal.
it seems odd to me, given all the technology of the asura, and the architectural marvels that are the race’s cities, that no rebuilding attempt has been made.
From a lore point of view LA is an independent city, or more accurately a city-state. Having foreign powers come in to rebuild things is kinda odd.
In the festival of the four winds I think they rebuilt it slightly and I have the feeling it will slowly be rebuilt over time because I do agree leaving the most important city destroyed wouldn’t really make much sense.
Yeah they added some of the vendors and stuff again. Actually the festival was intended to gain resources to help the reconstruction effort in earnest. Although I guess since the zypherites got blown up in Season 1…
A city isn’t rebuilt in a day. It will be slowly rebuilt with time.
True, although i think most people have issue with the fact that we’re not seeing any changes big or small.
1) I agree completely
2) We already have local weather effects at [&BCgAAAA=]
3) Would be a minor improvement, but hard to implement, so it wont happen any time soon.
A minor improvement, but I’m unsure how hard it would be to implement. Simply adding rain wouldn’t be too difficult, all you’d need is to change the sky map, adding some ambient-particle-rain-effects and turn down the light a bit. I think snow storms would be similar. Basically it wouldn’t be too different from what they did in dry top with the sand storm, simply add a new particle effect.
Doing it properly would be more difficult i.e. having we, dry and snow covered textures etc.
And lets not forget…
they all ready have day and night cycles but the creature remain the same.
No way players would be happy with just some minor visual changes. First comes the rain and snow then come the players asking for rain twisters and snow mites :P
This would be pretty badas. I cant see why it could not be done. Maybe seasons ? The snow could expand in some new teritories. The weather does not need to have special mechanics just as an effect. They did not need to code it on the servers just localy no one need the rain drops to be in synch on multiple clients.
And even more complexity :P
Yes ideally, we’d have realistic weather (rain, snow, cloudy etc.) which visually alters the terrain and textures (wet, snow covered etc.) and entire zones would show seasonal change etc.
Anet said they don’t want to go into expansions with GW2 like they did in GW1, one of the reasons being they feel they are “culturally insensitive” (Cantha=Asia Elona=African)
It’s all Kitten
Oh this again… there is literally no evidence of this! If there is please provide a link.
So…Asia and Africa are specific cultural themes, while Europe/Murica is universal? What kind of EGO is that?
As someone who lives in Africa I’m more bothered by the implication that Africa has a theme at all. It’s a continent people, big place lot of variety.
Also as I’ve previously said, this is not a fact this is people making stuff up.
Culturally insensitive?
Does anyone really give a kitten ? “NOPE MAP LOOKS LIKE JAPAN I’M OUT!”
Seriously… >_>
Again, this is part of the conspiracy theory revolving around ANet being controlled by those evil evil NCSoft people who are apparently extremely ashamed for their Asian origins.
Which is complete crap
My opinion as well, also… no kitten?
Has there ever been any direct evidence about NCSoft forbidding returning to Cantha or Elona other than hearsay over the fate of the Canthan District in Divinity’s Reach? I have a feeling we’re witnessing something akin to apotheosis…
None that I’ve seen. People just assume that’s the reason because… reasons.
There are one-handed axes, maces and swords. There are also two-handed maces and swords but there aren’t any two-handed axes.
There are 2 handed maces? I though they only had hammers, in fact do you even get a 2 handed mace? Is a big mace a hammer? I’m confused now…
There are 2 handed maces? (err… you mean hammers?)
My question exactly!
Been asking for Greataxes and Halberds for 2 years now.
So would you categorize a greataxe the under the same category as a halberd? The biggest problem with these discussion is always that minor variations to the weapons themselves have large practical implications.
Two handed axes have my vote, but only if necro can use it.
I’d rather hold out for a war-scythe (or just plain scythe) myself, but I won’t say no to a greataxe.
Sure, I’ll support this. We need a new weapon. Well, we need a lot of new things, but yeah, we need a new weapon.
But do we want ‘new weapons’ or new ‘weapon x class combos’ more? I’d say the changes of getting new combos is higher than completely new weapons.
In this sense, I think it would just be a better move to rename “Greatsword” weapon type to “Greatblade”, and include a variety of Greataxe skins in the current Greatsword skin line-up. Less work for Anet, and would probably increase your chances of seeing two-handed axes in game.
Good idea, although ANet is already stretching some of their definitions a bit (I’m thinking of the scythe staff).
So much yes. Dunno why this hasn’t been suggested before xD
Granted new weapons aren’t as prevalent as mounts but they do popup every now and then.
I would like to say that if the content was the challenge and not the drop rate, it wouldn’t be a grind more than a skill issue. What they did with Tequatl was OK not the best…but IMHO it should be harder with a guaranteed drop upon completion.
Except that everyone was QQ’ing about how Tequatl was way too hard.
They QQ when it’s too hard, they QQ when it’s too soft, they QQ when the sun comes up :P
The big problem is that console manufacturers place restrictions on how often games can be updated and want to inspect and approve each one before it goes out. Apparently they also charge developers for each update.
The only practical solution to that I’ve seen is to keep console and PC players completely separate and create a two tier system where updates come out first on the PC version and then later on consoles, maybe bundled together into 1 update per month.
Which in some ways might be better because it would mean patches would go out with all the bug fixes that usually come later, but I imagine it would also frustrate a lot of people that they’re having to wait longer for everything.
Seems like a good enough fix.
I’m sure if they start coding now it’ll be out by the time the PS6 and XBox Three hits market.
First it’s not a trivial port.
Second each of those eight cores are extremely low performing and a current top end i7 has problems at stock clocks. Imagine one with 20-30% the CPU power.
Only chance would be to port the game to a 3rd party engine with PS4/XBone/PC support already. And that would also take a large amount of time, even if you can move the art/animation/sound assets over for free (in terms of manpower).
Don’t think we want ANet to do the porting (I’d rather them work on content). So the first thing they’d need to do is find a partner to help with the port. I’d thing Sony would be a good bet because of SOE, so at least from a technical perspective some of the issues could be mitigated.
Me wanna target the necro:
Tab
> minion
Tab
> more minions
Tab
> turret (omg.. what)
Tab
> turret 2
Tab
> turret 3
Tab
> thief suddenly in your face (wow it did worked but i want the necro)
Tab
>God
Tab
>Mom
Tab
>Random rangers pet
Tab
>NECROOOOOOOOOO!! oh wait nvm i am already dead.Prior something like this:
ALWAYS PLAYERS before pets/minions/all other crap..
And start with the nearest..
How hard can that be..
I’ve had this experience, but with a necro, a mesmer and a hunter. I eventually had to try mouse clicking on them (of course it was 3 against 1 so I think it was a fools errant to begin with :P ).
Or standing in front of a champion GIANT I press tab and get a risen bull. Than a chicken. Than a grub.
Actually they’ve fixes that… Champions have priority… you probably already tabbed through the Champion though. So not a targetting system problem.
Cultural armor is Rare and isn’t really used for stats. If anything, changing it into a bunch of skins with no stats would make life easier, so you could apply it to exotics.
Actually I use the cultural armor for leveling my alts, so that at least at level 35, 60 and 80 I don’t have to worry about my equipment too much (granted I don’t buy duplicates but I also only have 1 character for each armor type per race).
You seem to be pretty vague about which collections you are referring to.
As this is a passive aggressive complaint thread of course it’s vague. I imagine OP immediately jumped onto the forum and went about detailing his grievances while still in a fairly unpleasant mood and as such things such as proper communication wasn’t a priory when compared to his personal need to inform us all of his feelings.
The idea behind the collections is awesome but it’s a feature where I hoped that they would put more effort in it, or released it at a later state. Because right now the rewards we got for really high end stuff set the tone for upcoming collection achievements. A complete set of corrupted weapons? Here you get a generic exotic, that’s lame. Why not a cool corrupted themed backpack or a piece of armor?
I also think that there should be a collector achievement for every set in the game, like kitten cultural weapons, etc. These collections are easier to get and may encourage newtimers to collect them aswell.
True enough, some of the rewards could be better. However I like to think that at least the current system is fairly scale-able. Hopefully ANet will actually go about adding more collection as time goes on. For now I think most of their effort probably went into the crafting backpack.
Now explain me something : how can you get, for exemple, all black lion collections without farming like a pure no life (and don’t do anything else) or using real money ?
I think you’re thinking incorrectly. You’re assuming the completionist mindset i.e. if it’s there I have to do it, I should be able to do it and I must do it. Not all content has to be accessible to all players and not all content has to be accessible immediately or achievable through grind.
Seriously people, the game is meant to be played, not bought. You’re complaining because you cant cheaply BUY your way to content that you can also PLAY to get?
Pardon me while I wipe this tear away….
Fairness is an odd concept, some people think it’s unfair that they can’t do everything easily.
Thank Kormir you don’t need to complete the collections
Unless you’re one of those completionist types… they don’t seem to be able to understand that need and want aren’t the same thing.
You know what’s funny? I’ve had over half those exotic items at one point or another, sold most of them. Or salvaged them if they werent selling for more. Imagine how I feel now lol
Oh I know the feeling :P
But meh it’s a game, I’m playing it to have fun so I try not to stress the little things.
A lot of people fall for Anet’s illusion of content patches. That’s why they keep doing it.
Exactly! And how dare they call these content-less patches feature patches!
I hadn’t even a thought that we must fill these new collections immediately by buying items or just complete it right now. xX This point of view has surprised me. It doesn’t matter for me whether or not these collections exist. It’s nice to play and receive some achievements for this but why should achievements be a goal and not just gaming and spending time with friends? oO
Western Society has become surprisingly instant-gratification oriented so it’s not that surprising. What surprises me is that no one seems to have any idea that this is the case.
Welcome to the post-XBox age, when achievement collecting became important parts of games. Even if the “achievements” are little more than “turn on the game” “finish chapter 1” “your first fight”.
Actually I blame McDonnalds… but yeah I guess xbox achievements didn’t help.
Although ANet has dabbled a bit in skin drops and low drop rate items implementing this on a large scale would simple promote mindless grind which although appealing to some players isn’t really conducive to fun. Honestly I prefer the token system they currently have for dungeon items, it gives a clear indication of what you should do and how many times you have to do it.
Although like I said some players like low drop rates, and ANet has done similar things before so maybe…
As for linear quests, I think that’s pretty much what they’re doing with the Living Story. Although granted Living Story has 2 primary issues: content output rate is low and secondly it lacks some variety (you’re always with DE2.0, there’s a single overarching story etc.). I’d like to see more diverse stories with a more diverse cast (although ideally we’d still have the Living Story and these additional stories would be parallel or more or less self contained exploring other parts of the world . However as we’ve seen from Living Story outputting proper narrative content is time consuming (by that I mean voice overs and stuff) so the likelihood of ANet working on multiple stories at the same time is unlikely.
Anyway, we can have a group of superstitious seafaring folks, who worship Zhaitan and make offerings (hmmmm… quaggan firstborns?) for safe passage when they are sailing around Orrian waters. My 2 coppers
Well if Glint (a former champion) can have a cult why not a ED.
Jennah isn’t 23434 years old, I’m sure she has plenty of time to have children if she wants/chooses to have children
If Jennah was 23434 years old I’d wager she’d be some sort of inhuman creature and all speculations regarding her reproductive period would be somewhat baseless :P
I believe that, no matter who the heir is, the treaty would be lost because it was Jennah herself who initiated the truce, in part because she returned the Claw of Khan-Ur. If Jennah died, the charr might not be as willing to deal with the replacement.
Charr always came off more as a meritocracy, never felt like they cared much for the authority granted purely by who you happened to be born to.
@Rognik: Wade Samuelsson is of the Ascalonian royal line. He doesn’t make much of it, but it’s mentioned in the Vigil story arc.
Step 1: Get Rytlock back (or at least he’s sword, or finish fixing the other one).
Step 2: Find Wade
Step 3: ????
Step 4: No more Foefire.
Former Sylvari PS lvl 10, when you are summoned to the Pale Tree and meet the luminary of your cycle for the first time.
If you talk to the Firstborn and ask about Zhaitan, the luminary definitely calls him /an/ undead Elder Dragon.
Not the elder dragon of the undead like mostly everywhere else, but specifically an undead elder dragon. It stood out for me when I redid the PS on an alt thus I still remember it clearly.Depends on the capitalization of ‘undead’, can’t find anything on the wiki. Either I’m looking in the wrong place or it hasn’t been captured.
Prolly hasn’t been captured. The wiki lacks a lot of optional conversations that occur during objectives or at the end of missions
Anyways, here’s the screenshot. Sorry it took so long, I’ve been at my laptop and momentarily I can only access my computer on weekends.
Based on the dialog in the screenshot I’d say him being an undead elder dragon instead of the Undead Elder Dragon is kinda looking more likely. At the very least it’s clear that he’s body is a composition of undead flesh (if it wasn’t clear just by looking at him).
The asura, as far as we know, never touched Primordus, just siphoned off the magic he was radiating in his sleep. I don’t think Elder Dragons turn to rock when they sleep, but that Primordus in particular has a rocky appearance.
Well the two cases we know of is Primordius (who is a rock dragon) and Kralkatorrik (who is a crystal dragon) kinda aren’t very good examples of what EDs look like when they sleep since both are rock / crystal whether they’re awake or asleep.
Is a complex and long name
Perhaps we can call him Krally. Mmm doesn’t feel like good shorthand… Kralka? Torry?… ok I’ll think of something later maybe I’ll have something by the time the living story finally gets to him.
The change does nothing to be affected by or to affect the NPE.
As these changes are mostly in the later part of the personal story I’d question the new-ness of players by that point. Maybe it’s part of the Intermediary Player Experience?
Too many spoiler tag :P
What are the 3 top QOL features you think Guild Halls could provide that maybe couldn’t exist otherwise? Try not to list features that are beyond QOL, but I won’t hold it against you because its hard to do.
Which in essence excludes crafting stations, bank access, mystic forge ect since all those are available from multiple location and exist very well without the need for a guild hall.
Although in terms of QOL… well that’s a difficult one since would things like hall customization, displaying trophies etc. be considered QOL? That’s usually what people want from a guild hall, a meeting place (for some reason, I guess physical presence is something guild chat doesn’t offer) and the ability to brag (i.e. show off achievements, trophies, style etc.) and I’m not seeing how that would increase my day to day play (i.e. the quality of life).
I’m not sure this is the right point to get into Guild Halls, simply because there’s no existing system allowing targeted QoL suggestions for improvement. I myself have many ideas on what would make personal and guild housing truly fun. However I don’t see a way to suggest good embellishments yet. It’s like asking what color ribbons to put in one’s hair before one knows what else one will be wearing or if ribbons will even be an option.

Pretty much this. Before discussing QOL of guild halls we’d firstly have to establish what we (and ANet) mean by guild halls which I don’t think we’d be able to do given that at this points it’s all hypothetical (i.e. I don’t expect ANet to tell us there’s thoughts or ideas regarding Guild Halls, which would provide a basis for discussion of QOL changes that can be added).
^That is the thing would the Elder Dragons wake up or just just be mined until they were nothing? And they could have tried this on the weakest one whoever that is they just put enough bombs on them that could level a mountain and trigger them.
Well the Asura did use Primordius to power their way point network, so maybe. The rules around what wakes them up is a bit unclear.
I’ll presume you’re posting in anger, and as such you’re slightly incoherent. I seem to be having some issue as well, although I’m unsure if we’re having the same issue in regards to competing in the tournament. For clarity’s sake, what exactly is wrong?
The human gods almost definitely knew of the elder dragons
The latest LS implied as much, but we lack definite evidence. The most notable piece we have is:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prosperity%27s_Mystery
Namely the line that reads:
“Ancient documents, found now in the Durmand Priory’s collection, reveal accounts passed down by other races such as the powerful Seers and even the human gods themselves.”
