How do you remove blinds with reckless dodge :o ?

Strength traitline makes it so the dodge does unblockable 2-3k damage on dodges.
Use that to dodge on your enemies and remove the blind if you have it on.

So Reckless Dodge can cleanse condi now ? Sins when ?

It procs damage that cleans the blind.

Wow i didnt knew, I thought reckless dodge only do unblockable damage after you dodged. I never knew about the blind cleansing.

Are there more condis that can be cleansed by reckless dodge? Or only blinds?

i dont get why so many of you feel like saying blind is an obstacle. Zerker stance when you burst and that problem is fixed 70% of the time. And stabillity can be played around unless you’re fighting a rev traited for it or another warrior. And Cygnus the only two things from the list of classes you named that can actually counter hammer are Revenant and DH. The rest can easilly be played around. especially tempest , Chrono , and Scrapper just by swapping traits around.

How long does Zerker Stance last? WvW is a big place, and warrior is an easily kited class. When your stance runs out, your hammer becomes useless against a foe with blinds.

Sure you can play around stability on classes that aren’t War/Rev. But most classes have a lot of it, and then they still have blinds, blocks, invulnerabilities, stuns of their own to counter yours, and when all else fails, they port away or stealth up to reset their cooldowns. Especially Tempest, Chrono and Scrapper.

And yes, the roaming footage is a little old. You may notice some things are slightly different from what I’m explaining that I use now. Fact is, this vid has been ready to be released for a while, but I experienced some serious issues with my set-up (fawlty power source for one), that didn’t allow me to post it sooner. When things were back up and running, I rendered this as soon as possible. All problems should come to an end when I install the 1070 in a few months.

Nice vid. Still I prefer obindo’s roaming build though.

That’s entirely logical! Mine is quite quirky I guess, and Obindo is such a magician. He could make anything work.

For the food, have you considered the plate of mushels Gnashblade?

I’ve been recently playing a bit of WvW, with my old guild. I didn’t know about the meta, so asked my guild leader what he wanted me to run. I think you’d love his answer: full zerk with runes of durability, GS/Hammer, boon duration food and sigil of absorption on the hammer.

Very nice to hear!

I guess for GvG, hammer still has it’s uses. Rune of Durability also gives protection to your mates, so if all of you run it, that’s pretty much permanent protection. Boon duration Warrior is a known spec I think, and you can easily get 40% of it in WvW.

About the food, I don’t like it at all. Not because it isn’t strong, but because it is WAY TOO strong. Like seriously. 10% flat dmg reduction equals to like 300+ toughness? 15% boon duration is how much concentration? I think the food is completely ridiculous and will warrant a serious nerf in the future (something like 10% boon duration and 5% dmg reduction would still give you an unbalanced amount of stats compared to regular foods), so I will not be using it.
Honestly, this food is a clear piece of evidence how little Anet either understands balance in or gives a rats behind about WvW. At least prior nerfs to condi duration foods give me hope that this will be adressed in the future.

Nonetheless, if you’re looking for the most powerful food out there, this is certainly the way to go!

Perma Stealth Condi Thief

Let me get this strait, you think that a thief is OP because of stealth, when it is literally the only trully defensive abuility that a thief has. Let me remind you that without that stealth you would have killed him in maybe two or three hits because he has 11000-12000 hp, and almost not toughness, no stability, very little healing power. Also, let me remind you that because he is strictly condi, his Stealth attacks, do nearly nothing against you, and by chance if he was running a hybrid build and they DID do anything to you, he has to land it every time or else he will pretty much be stunned for 1 second. If he cannot kill you the most you can say about his build is that he was annoying. you know what thieves find annoying? Everything. Because everything is stronger than them right now.

This reply must be one of the worst replies I’ve read around here.

You think this build has 11kHP? Like they don’t run Full Dire? For the pancies that run this build, they will make sure that if anything ever manages to reveal them, they still have the toughness and vitality to run. Try two-shotting something with 21kHP and 3k toughness. Little healing power? Hello Shadow Arts. You can’t even AoE the kitten out of him while he is in stealth because of the 50% dmg reduction in stealth.

Thief only has 1 truly defensive ability? What about ports? An incredible amount of dodges? Blinds? More evades on weapon skills? Obviously, real thieves have to rely on their reflexes a lot more then other classes to stay alive, because core thief is glassy. This cancer is not, though.

His stealth attacks do nothing to you? How did you stay alive this long IRL? The whole idea of this cancerous build is to never leave stealth.

Literally the only somewhat true thing you’ve stated here is that thieves are having a hard time right now. But in WvW, a lot of thieves do quite well in any situation.

This Perma-stealth thing is not just annoying, it is made solely for trolling and will in fact work on you if you somehow don’t have supernatural awareness of your surroundings (because how do you see something that can stealth from a mile away and walk up to you?) and weren’t packing enough condi removal. Even if it only catches the less-skilled, a build like this, which pretty much has no real counter (other then not dying to it, which can’t seriously be thought of as a counter), should be removed from the game. Entirely. Condi thief without this insane cheese is strong enough as is.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this build is not OP, not even powerful. I also do not know how to fix it. It is just a sad realisation that it exists.

When Anet is handing out stability + spammable blocks and blinds like candy, a slow but hard hitting weapon like Hammer becomes obsolete. And that’s what happened.

Saying a good Warrior can make Hammer work is dumb. Because a less then mediocre Revenant, Dragon kitten, Thief, Chronomancer, Tempest, Scrapper and Druid will wipe the floor with it. Hell, even a half decent Necromancer laughs at hammer now, where they used to be weak to CC.

I’m full Berserker right now, but I was doing some comparisons few days ago and I think I’ll switch to Demolisher if it will be enabled in PVE: with minor adjustments, you get much more toughness sacrificing very little damage; I think Marauder is a good alternative to Berserker, but I prefer to reduce damage taken instead of just increasing vitality (unless you raise healing power too, but then things become complicated)

This. I will stick to Berserk unless they give us Demolisher in PvE. Vitality is a more or less wasted stat on warrior IMO, because our base HP is so high already.

Other then that, 4-stat gear does obviously give you more stats per piece, so yeah, it could be worth it. I just like toughness a lot better on warrior then vitality.

Even more so when you increase healing power btw. Toughness’ usefulness is increased by better healing, vitality’s usefulness isn’t really.

ive seen other condi users use rifle in the past. worked for them.
Its gunflame, rifle 2 4 5 that are useful. Engage with rifle, throws them off with what ur running…..when they get close switch and lay in the pain. When they run switch to rifle and gunflame them.

I am convinced that the ones that made it work don’t run Dire. They run Sinister or Vipers so you get benefits from both the hard hitting attack and the burn.

Longbow blows in WvW, as enemies will just move out of your fire fields. Still, probably better then rifle if you are deadset on full Dire.

Your element of surprise won’t compensate for the fact that you don’t have enough cover condi’s to make the burn work well.

Mace seems to be the #1 weapon when it comes to condi warrior right now.

It’s bad. Rifle sucks if you go full condi. Like, there is no way to make it work, the only skill you want to use on it is the Berserk burst. You basically have 1 weapon set if you go for this.

First time I’ve liked a Charrs appearance, you got style.

That first fight I felt so bad for the Condi warrior, he just didn’t do anything to you poor guy

Mace has a visceral feel to it that Axe doesn’t imho. It definitely has a condi theme to it with the current HoT iteration but boy, feels rewarding to crack skulls with it as a power warrior. Quite addictive :P

Well one of the reasons I was interested in boon duration is that I read it was strong (in this thread specifically (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Power-Class-for-Roaming-1v1s-2s-2v4s/first#post6283127). Clipped the quote below:

Warrior, Druid are both mobile and good in skirmish. Boon Duration Stance Warriors are flat out OP right now.

Scrapper, Tempest are great in skirmish but trade in the long range mobility. Bunker Tempests are insanely hard to kill and almost pure group support.

Mesmer is a great skirmish class with plenty of group synergy. They have solid in combat mobility and have decent long range escape but don’t move over the map very quickly.

If I’m pretty much exclusively duo roaming with a thief (currently playing staff thief but he’s coming back from a long break and has been swapping between staff and d/p) would I be better off with a more conventional build and just ignore boon duration? Either way thank you so much for answering!

Edit: I also have a level 80 power rev that I have been enjoying playing and I started thinking that the rev might just be the better roaming partner for the thief? It’s so hard to decide what to commit to lol

Boon duration is good, obviously. You can get a lot of it in WvW with just foods, if you add the runeset to it 50% is easy.

Warrior is not the number one class for this, whichever way you slice it. Rev, Tempest, DH, they all provide superior boons without breaking a sweat.

That does not mean warrior can not fit this role very well. When compared to Rev or DH, warrior has superior mobility, something that’s very important (especially in outnumbered roaming). Revenant is very weak to condi’s, whereas warrior is much more self-sustainable. And warrior can provide immunity stomping (with stability and Endure Pain/resistance, only countered by specific boon removal), which pairs very well with a thief.

Keep in mind that for boon sharing, the thief needs to be close to you, whereas in outnumbered fighting, you will often want to keep some distance between you as to not receive high amounts of AoE damage accidentally.

I think you should do just fine.

Where I do think Gabe’s suggestion can be decent in a small group, if you are to roam solo or duo, it seems underwhelming and quite frankly outclassed in every way by Dragon Hunter and Revenant.

I would try a more offensive approach with a different runeset if you are bound on using boon duration;

You still get 50% boon duration, which should be more then enough.
This set-up allows for 21 seconds of back to back quickness, absolutely batkitten crazy if you ask me. It focusses on dealing very fast and high sustained damage through Heightened Focus, Frenzy and Fatal Frenzy. You have to take a weapon that can abuse the fast attack speed, Axe is the obvious choice here, although Mace would also fit the role nicely (and you still have Headbutt to set up your burst).
Rune of Durability is slightly more selfish, although the 4,5 second protection for your squad will be amazing. This rune alone makes you very durable, both solo and in a group setting.
IMO, Commander gear is usable for just that, commanding. Stick with Berserker for roaming on warrior.
Also, Fried Golden Dumpling is the superior food to use, here.

I tried a similar build with boon duration to be somewhat invulnerable to any conditions that aren’t backed up by boon removal. The amount of resistance you get is mindboggling. It was my attempt to revive hammer which is very prone to conditions. But, sadly, hammer is completely unusable in every game mode with perma stability being handed out like candy to multiple classes (warrior being one of them, in fact).

The skill ceiling is lower IMO, and I main war with thief second. That does not mean the skill ceiling is low, though.

I find that a truly mastered thief will beat the same on warrior every time. Thief has some incredibly powerful tools in Steal and Stealth, plentiful evades and interrupts.

What makes a good warrior great are many things. You have to know the class inside and out in order for you to surprise your opponent. Warrior is probably the most telegraphed class in the game, so switching your playstyle from defensive to offensive and being able to land your big hits is crucial.

Obviously, because warrior is bulky, you can afford a few mistakes. Thieves can make mistakes too but are sooner forced to reset (which is easy for them, so not a big problem I guess). And unlike thief, warrior has to be sure that the fight he is picking is one he can win, because the mobility, while good, is not good enough to outrun anything (unlike thief, or any class with access to stealth).

I believe he is referring to just the ebg queue, not all maps. If you are with a server that is highly populated already then, yes, all maps may be queued and you will have to wait.
BUT, if only ebg is queued, some people will happily go to alpine bl to play all night vs going to dbl just to waste time waiting for the ebg queue to end. Get it?

1 – EB had queues before HoT too.
2 – BL maps are full of people already playing all night

To me it sounds like he was just complaining because he likes to complain, it was bad earlier and it is bad now too. Get it?

Right dude, I don’t know what the situation on your server is, but he was exactly right in explaining what I meant.

On my server, DBL’s are empty save for the regular zergs. EB has a 40 man queue that does not dissolve quickly (half an hour++) as soon as 12:00 in the afternoon if your unlucky. At prime time, don’t log in if you want to go EB (2 hour+).

Alpine will fix this.

Man, all these people that get on the ’don’t complain or quit’ hype train are exhausting. The game got worse, a lot worse, off course I complain. Especially if the solution can be so simple.

I was very disappointed to see this poll without anything being said about alpine. Honestly, they should do NOTHING for wvw but bring back alpine, before doing anything else. If it would be back tomorrow then that’s half a year too late.

This topic is so ridiculous.

If you want to duel in eb, nobody can tell you not to. It is very obvious why people duel; its challenging and to many way more FUN then zerging. It is also very obvious why you go to EB for this; there currently are no other wvw maps. An empty map is not a wvw map, it is just a digital environment.

God, these zerglings and their problems.

Seems like pretty standard SwordGS to me? Nothing wrong with it. All your questions boil down to if you want more DPS or more survivability. For instance, Hoelbrak or Strength depend solely on wether or not you need the condi reduction, or the 5% dmg increase.

About being on the fence when it comes to full zerk, I guess you should take the amount of physical survivability you need in order for your reaction time to be sufficient to escape ganks and such. IMO, if you master warrior enough not to need anything else then zerk, you will be more powerful, though.

As a side note, I also found I am consistently winning all my duels against every class except Necromancers (duh). The reason behind this is not that warrior got that much better, though (in my opinion). It’s that WvW is dying, and people are moving on to other games. Skilled opponents are probably amongst the first to migrate.

Hmm, I don’t think it was Blood Reckoning. Like I said, My HP got down from about 18k to downed state in an instant. With Blood Reckoning, there is some casttime at least.

Anyway, I guess if I am the only one noticing this, then it might have been some freak occurence or just a misinterpretation of what happened by myself.

Gunflame hitting twice

Alright, so I know when gunflame just got introduced there was a bug that allowed warriors to double hit with gunflame, dishing out absolutely obscene amounts of damage.

Yesterday, while dueling on EB, a zerg passed by us and I was attacked by a few of them. I was almost right off the bat hit by something by surprise, this something took out my entire HP bar instantly. Checking the combat log I found I was hit by gunflame twice, both hits dealing 9817 damage (I think that was the number), both hits delivered by a Platinum Soldier. I’d say the chance of that being two different Gunflame users hitting me at the exact same time for the exact same damage that also both are similar WvW rank is quite slim.

So is anybody else noticing new occurences of Double-Gunflames?

I like almost everything about it, even that it’s considered UP. Challenge, right?

I also like that condition warrior is probably the weakest of all classes in GW2.

GW2 as a whole is just very disappointing since HoT.

I think if they truly want to steer away from the idea that Fast Hands is mandatory on every warrior build, auto attacks do need to be more useful, yes. Either for damage, or for utility. If you want to stick to one weapon set an entire 5 seconds longer (minimum), then you need something to do after you used up your #2-5. Currently, all warrior auto attacks seem to underperform. Some are just masked to be better then they truly are because of blanket skills like Gunflame or Eviscerate.

Hi all!

Since the drop in t6 material prices, I’ve been hoarding my Chests of Loyalty. I have 470 laurels which I intend to spend on t6 some day (hopes of ever getting a legendary).

Should I still pick laurels from the chests? Or are Ascended Crafting Mats the way to go now? Simply looking for the highest profit I guess…

Looking out from the walls of Stonemist Castle right now, all I see is thieves. Something is wrong here.

Is that because you prefer mesmers to OHKO you? They can still do that better then thieves by the way.

Warrior's Sprint

I think warrior’s sprint is palced perfectly fine as is IMO. Strength does need better Adept traits, but that’s another story.

Discipline is a utility traitline, Warrior’s Sprint is utility.

Well, Reapers can trait for additional boon corruption. I have fought some very good ones and can honestly say my experience now is the opposite. I prefer the old Zerk stance.

The reason being is I would use healing signet after baiting their condi bomb and as soon as it was corrupted weapons swap (brawlers) – then zerk stance.

So then you died from the condibomb?

Brawler’s only recovers 1 condi, resistance recovers none, so you would enter Zerk Stance with the entire condi bomb minus 1 condi on you…

Well melee warriors had a fighting chance against necro with the old berserker stance in their build. And we could traverse in group/zerg fights with it. ‘Now’ it’s insta death. I think it important we recognize the difference. I’ll gladly take “hard” over “impossible”. And what other necro are there in wvsw if not chill/power/condition? Tank? lol…

I honestly have trouble syncing this up with my own experience, which has been the opposite, for the most part.

The old Berserker’s Stance bought you 8-10s at most… if you were lucky, they’d use all their condi burst while the stance was up. If you were unlucky, they’d know to wait, or you’d use it when they weren’t about to bomb you anyway.

The new Berserker’s Stance allows you to wait until you’ve actually been bombed, and lasts 12-15s (or up to 18s if you have boon food on and aren’t in EBG). Resistance is less obvious on a boon bar than the old stance icon but, even if they see it, there’s little for the necro to do but try to corrupt the boon. But corruption is random, so the necro has to get lucky to actually corrupt the resistance (vs your other boons), and it’ll reapply in 3s or less anyway.

And it’s not as though every skill corrupts. Plus they’ll be busy kiting like hell while your resistance is up.

Honestly, while necros/reapers were the only thing that had me a bit hesitant about the stance change, the experience hasn’t really born out the concern.

Before the patch, the only Necro’s you could beat with melee warrior were terribads. Seriously. They counter us as hard as Dragon Hunter counters thieves.

Honestly, with the pulsing resistance I think we are way better off against necro’s.

I actually see a lot of potential for this in WvW.

Chill necro’s, power or condi, kill any melee warrior, but that’s the same as before the patch. The comment about Hammer or Mace warriors being good vs necro’s made me giggle.

Definitely like the first build. Tinkered around with this idea, and it seemed trollish. But who cares, it’s fun.

Was wondering, why the sigil of accuracy? If you take Smoldering you get the burning duration without having to slot King of Fires.

Thanks to Cygnus and his great build. I have a lot of fun with it. I used to play berserker rifle, but it is too mainstream and boring.
It’s nice that with incoming balance patch, things will get pretty much only better

Glad you liking the build m8! Exactly the reason I tried to make MaceGS work again. There is nothing mainstream about skullcrack right now lol, hardly anybody uses it in WvW.

Determine if you will be playing the DPS role or the Might-Support role in PvE more often. If you will be supporting, put Strength on another set and keep pack as your WvW set. Don’t overwrite a set with good runes that aren’t cheap. A complete set of exo’s costs like 6 gold in WvW with badges (which are otherwise useless).
If you will be the (condi) DPS, get Viper/Sinister and save your runes.

As a sidenote, Strength is a very good rune for WvW.

Henry already makes a fair point. The might duration can be very good, especially with traits like Forceful GS. And the 5% dmg increase is pretty much permanent on warrior, where flat modifiers are very good for DPS in general.

However, Pack is a very good alternative IMO. If you are looking for Fury uptime, general higher crit chance or a way to boost swiftness uptime, Pack has it all. One of the best runes for flat stat boosts, and you get close to 50% uptime on Fury and Swiftness from the rune alone (in battle).

A disadvantage Strength has vs Pack is that Strength is kind of a one trick pony; you have to play a build that’s might oriented, or a lot of the rune is wasted. Warrior does have a lot of might gain, but if you forgo these in favor of other choices, Strength may become less optimal for roaming.

That being said, if you wan’t to be optimal in PvE, Strength is the rune to go (unless going condi, obviously). Thus, Strength remains very versatile.

Alright, still I’m torn between getting another zerker set for the Strenght runes or getting a condi set for PvE and saving the Strength runes for another character…

Well, Legendary armor will be out one of these days. Sooooo save up mats and start grinding everything you can for that day?

I don’t like all of it. Fast Hands just forces us into Discipline, whereas your setup will force you into specific traitlines, every time.
