Legendary armor is not hard to get really. I don’t think it would be good idea to add it to pvp as a lot of pve’ers would come here and complain how hard it is to get because let’s face it winning matches vs decent players is harder than killing scripted bosses. I would prefer Anet to add different kind of carrots to pvp. Ascended shards weren’t so bad imo, what really ruined is the fact that you could get those by afking in matches – they should have made them available only through wins.
On side note: legendary armor is really ugly, i only got it for stats change feature.

Crafting ascended armor is the most unwise thing to do in GW2.
How else are you supposed to acquire it now short of just getting absurdly lucky and getting an ascended armor box from T1/2 fractals?
Raiding. You can buy armor for shards. Yes, it is time gated but at least you won’t need to blow 29048203840832048230482 gold for the set.
Crafting is not worth it atm, period.
And to support poster above me, main reason why crated legendary weapons, backpiece and armor is because of ability to stat change. The skins are not THAT good (maybe beside few weapons) that i personally would be willing to invest so much. The stat change on other hand offers flexibility and free bag space.

The 1900s-1800s don’t play as much because currently chance of getting lopsided match is nearly 90% due to all issues i started above. Fix the system and people would be more willing to play.
Also, once the system stops putting 1900s vs silvers (making 3 hours queues), thoese players will also stop queuing at 5 am for easy wins and will be forced to play during prime time if they actually want to get any matches (min. matches played per week requirement still exists).
Once again, the point of LB is not to make players to play as less as possible however the MM/rank gain/loss system force players in such behavior since the risks are disproportionally high.
So called “casuals” messed ratings in s5 not because of their skills or lack of it but because they chose to afk at spawn all together every match since they would still get rewards. It is completely different issue which could have been easily solved if ascended shards could be only gained with wins and not amount of matches played.
You know, the reason why players complain here is because they still want to play GW2 and wish it to change for better. If they really wanted to play something else, they wouldn’t be here.

You are not considering match quality in your argument.
Winning 10 matches at 1900 rating is different than winning 10 matches at 1500 rating.
Person that won 10 matches at 1900 rating can also win them at 1500 with ease. Person that won 10 matches at 1500 rating will most likely lose majority of matches at 1900 rating. I would dare to say that average silver player (no offense) would never win vs top 5 players despite having same amount of games played in the season.
Where did i say that one shouldn’t lose rating for being in match where they have lower chances to win? Please show me.
My point is,
1. MM should not have such kind of matches happen on first place otherwise it doesn’t serves its purpose
2. if such match does happen, the rank gain/loss system should not consider it a fair match because it is not, but atm it treats such matches as they were fair. The rank gains/losses should be adjusted accordingly based on avg MMR of both teams and not just personal MMR.
Funny that you mention LoL. There, diamonds would never face silver players and rank gains/losses are actually based on team ratings…

Add an option to keep stowed look at all time, even in combat.
I don’t like the active look of medium at all, it is probably the ugliest trenchcoat in game atm but i do like the stowed look on sylvari female and would love to rock it.
On other note, i really don’t understand how so much time was put into making this armor, the armor is even race-specific but the boots/leg issue for sylvari was not addressed with this armor (the bug causes boots/calves look like huge male norn calves were attached to small plant girl).
Generally not fan of medium design, too bulky for leather wearers. It is kind of sad that legendary set looks so bad that you want to xmute it right away :/ I find leystone armor looks more legendary at this point.
Female sylvari medium chest is sick…. when stowed. The trenchcoat is soooooooooo bad though – it makes my character look like she is pregnant with an elephant.
The fun part is, female sylvari always suffered from fat leg boots syndrome hence why most boots were not wearable. 1.5 years for the set, race specific and they didn’t even bother addressing the issue – legendary boots on sylvari look like you have huge male norn calves attached to small plant girl.
Generally set is bit too bulky. Pants are ok.
Then again, i made the armor for stats swap so i don’t have to carry multiple sets. I knew that set will be probably horrendous looking and have plenty of xmute charges from pvp <3
Condi Thief is actually very strong right now and has an interesting rotation – try that maybe? :-)
@Cynz – no idea who you are raiding with but most groups (at least the ones I raided with) would never kick you for missing 1-2k dps :P hugging the floor all the time is another matter :-) – dead dps = 0 dps :-)
One word: pugs. People became so crazed with dps meters, they don’t care that you actually have job of eating mushrooms for example or kill cannons…. or was rezzing someone. I have my legendary armor now so i don’t REALLY need to raid but since Anet blessed dps meters i have less and less interest in raiding – too much drama on ts and too much elitism for my taste.
^^this all happens because they changed MM to fast queues instead of quality matches so it just throws whatever it finds within minute in the same match.
^-^ and this happens because YOUR MACHT PLAYED effect you Leaderboard rating .
You can have 200-300 less rating team8s in your team , but both YOU and HIM have played 60 games in a period of 2 motnhs .

So wait, you claim that legends play vs silvers because they both played 60 matches? Are you serious lol?
I think you really don’t understand the problem. Say 3 players of MMR around 1900 are queuing for match. MM is trying to build a team for them, but since no other 1900 queue, it grabs next 1800s. So we have team with average of 1860.
Now MM attempts to build enemy team for the match but since no more 1900s queue at time, it keeps looking for about a min. Since it can’t find the players with similar rating anymore, it removes the limitation and takes whatever it can find, e.g. 1800, 1400, 1400, 1500, 1500 which is more likely since generally mid/low tier have more players queuing at any time. So we have team of 1520 facing 1860. The MM doesn’t care that this is probably not a fair match, for the system it is a set match, players accepted the queue so it is a valid match. When match is over it will calculate ratings based on personal MMR vs avg MMR of enemy team which results
1. in absolute blow out for the 1520 team
2. absurd rank loss for the 1800 on the losing team
3. guaranteed loss for anyone on 1520 team (which will be repeated over and over again since no other higher ranked players queue at time)
4. the members of the 1860 team gaining almost nothing (up to 0 rating per win).
Bottom line, this system is not fair nor fun to anyone. Lower ranked get farmed by high ranked over and over again. The high ranked that ended up filling the spot on low ranked team gets punished heavily. High ranked players have absolutely boring matches with literary non-existent rank gains and the risk of losing ranks worth of 50 wins.
Why should any of those players bother pvp anymore? Among all other things (lack of carrots, class balance) this is one of the reason why people quit. I personally went from pvp’ing every day to not logging in for weeks. I do not enjoy sitting in matches, watching my team getting spawn camped by players 2 divisions above my teammates and then lose points worth of 2 wins. This is absolutely depressing.
As far as exploiting and cheating goes, this is not the system issue, this is customer support issue not doing anything about it (i am not claiming anything, look at NA LB and check games of top players… it even gets streamed but we would rather ignore elephant in the room -_-). In any other game i played companies were pretty harsh about such things, it is just in GW2 you can do whatever you want apparently.

I hate playing other classes, i find them extremely boring (just my personal taste, not trying to offend anyone). I do play them because i have to (e.g. we have 3 thieves on team; no way i am getting in raid group as a thief so i have to roll as mes, ele etc.).
warrior: too safe, too straight forward, ihulk ismash
engi: core = piano, just spam whatever has fire icon on it; scrapper = see warrior
ele: piano……….for more comfort put towel on keyboard before facerolling
mes: i would say generally it is relatively hard class to play and there are some interesting aspects to it, but it lacks the flow that thief has – idk how to express it better. The reliance on AI just bothers me too much.
necro: too slow
ranger: let my AI do the work while i pretend i am contributing!!! weeee!!! Honestly i don’t feel like playing pokemon simulator.
guard: never was fan of paladins, once again too boring, too many fail safes, too slow for my taste
rev: i am still too salty from the fact that this class was made to replace thieves. I miss the dynamic gameplay of thief and stealth when i play rev.
Bottom line, if i really really had to chose to have an alt, it would be probably a mesmer (and i do play my mes a lot in raids at least).

2. all i do is pvp and raiding, so all i get them from is… pvp~
3. see point 1. I don’t remember tbh, been a while. Overall i would say they were relatively easy to get.

Things i wish for s7:
- MM should get 10 players of similar rating (even if they would have to wait longer) and then spread them evenly across the teams (if possible). If MM can’t find teammates in the certain range (e.g. only 1 legend queuing and couple silvers) then sry bro, go queue during prime time and not at 5am.
- rank gain/loss should be based on avg team MMR vs avg enemy team MMR
- to prevent abuse of the above points, player cannot duoq with someone way below their rating (e.g. legend with gold).
I know some players who were ranked high in the charts. But because of the minimum game requirement to stay in the top, some were forced to play extra games. That allowed low skill players to be placed on the team, and created losses.
It can’t be helped. Having a minimum game requirement is good because you can’t sit on one lucky streak, and then take a break for the rest of season. But because matchmaking allows lowlowlow skilled players to fight top players, it turns a fun and competitive game mode into what feel like a grindfest gauntlet of “will I get bad players on my team next match?”. Each game you start to meet the minimum game requirement, you never know if matchmaking will make it fun, or pure kitten.
^^this all happens because they changed MM to fast queues instead of quality matches so it just throws whatever it finds within minute in the same match.
DHs wouldn’t be much of an issue if class stacking didn’t exist.
The problem with coins and with leather, as with any other kind of such items – i will hoard it as much as i can because i know i will need A LOT of it at some point and will go poor if i tried to buy it off tp. It is just not worth it. The price keeps going up over years and you would be a fool to sell those items.
Raid groups take thieves? That is new.
Be happy you have simple rotation in raids, you fall off by 1-2k dps due to messing up complex rotation on other build → you get instantly kicked.

Yup. 50% of the leaderboard is thieves and guards, there are 0 mesmer players in the top 25, the number of rangers this season has gone down significantly, the number of revs in the top 100 has drastically increased (I don’t mind this), and I’m the only warrior main in top 25.
Wat? Have you checked EU LB recently? Do you know Misha is mes main and he and Sind take top two spots? Funny enough EU LB is full of warriors (Vaans alone with all his alts took few spots). Not so many thieves.
How do i check on EU leaderboard when i am on NA? also how do i know which class they play most/main class is?
Same way as all these people claiming that there is 0 mesmers on LB.

If you are ranked high enough, you queue vs those players and know what they mainly play – no rocket science.

I’m pretty sure resistance was a just a interesting mechanic for revs, that was later applied to warriors as a fix for their issues.

Resistance has been added to the game.
Resistance was added with the trait changes in June 15, not with HoT. But if it was supposed to be THE answer to the condi buffs, they would have given more classes access to it.
And they did. Wars, mes, teef, guard, engi, necro got it to certain extend.
Actually i take improvisation on my thief for that very reason: it gives me double plasma = extra resistance vs condi mes.

Highly skilled player will not be able to carry a match when he faces players of same skills while his teammates are way below his skill. High skilled player can carry in lower ranks but not closer to their actual rank.
There is also issues: why should high skilled player be forced to carry lower ranks?
Why should lower ranked players get a free ride? The problem is, the high skilled player has a dilemma: either he hardcarries lower ranks to divisions they don’t belong and increases chances of having same lower ranked player on his team again OR he loses match, loses ranks but at least low ranked teammate stays where they belong. I mean the choice is very obvious. Which results in huge skill gaps within same ratings and once again really broken and unfun matches.
At the end i think most players just want fun and fair matches. Matches where 1 player is forced to hardcarry not so skilled teammates are not fun. Matches where you watch your team getting spawn camped are not fun. Matches where you basically spawncamp enemy team are not fun. But this is direct result of what you are defending and leads to players leaving the game.
A higly skilled player can carry in soloque

Please show me where i posted this very statement. I wanted soloq back because full-premade with vc had very obvious advantage over full soloq team. It also didn’t help that such premades carried single players to divisions where they don’t belong. There is also issue that current pvp population simply can’t support team queue.
I do welcome soloq, i am glad they brought it back. I do not agree how current MM and rank gain/loss system are implemented.

You do realize that the entire point to the change made with S5 is that you could still progress towards rewards even if you lost the game, right? Because I honestly don’t think you understand that when you make suggestions like this.
I actually understand it very well hence why i made suggestion like this. The design of the system motivated players to grind (afk) through matches instead of playing them.
I don’t agree that player should be rewarded for losing match. It is the same as if players would get LI for wiping on the boss instead of killing it.
And yet S5 had the highest population of any season, except maybe S1 when it was still being hyped up.
And right now thats what PvP needs most, more population.
The population is low atm due to many issues not just shards. You do realize people stopped pvping when they realized they still have to do same the same steps in pvp as in pve, namely crafting tokens and grinding absurd amount of gold. Pvp stopped being alternative to crafting – which was really bad change imo, hence why we want it reverted. However at the same time rewarding players for losing is wrong and needs to be changed.

I think bottom line, the problem remains that in current state the players that picked medium armor classes and need armor of certain stats (hello raid/dungeon/wvw groups that want you to run certain build or you are not welcome) that can’t be simply bought are in huge disadvantage compared to other. This is plain and unnecessary class discrimination.
I am veteran player myself, i mainly pvp and raid so i don’t exactly have huge gold income like pve’ers or zerglings from wvw do. I just avoid crafting like fire when i gear new characters as it is the most (and extremely) costy and worst way to get gear atm. For me (as mainly thief player) crafting is obsolete atm thanks to the prices.
I don’t even want to think how bad it is for new players that still have to lv up crafting and get gear for their first characters with proper stats so they actually get accepted in parties (sup raid groups blindly following meta) and able to participate in group events/activities (which is MMORPG is all about).

It’s not that simple when you have very little control over your party composition especially when terribads that only play 1 class will refuse to swap and MMR is all over the plce. My problem is definitely not self improvement lol none of t his would be an issue if I could just take a full team of friends into pvp who actually know how to play.
The current system is not competitive AT ALL. Duo queue is a complete joke, who the kittenhought of that lol people asked for solo q and team q to be separate, not this garbage.

Nobody argues about that but it doesn’t even attempt to balance out teams. It just throws all legends on one team and all golds on other and treats it as fair match based on rank point gains/loss.

Forgot those two? Tourneys organized once in ages won’t sustain population, simple as it is. The game mode needs to offer more than that to keep players interested. Same applies to anything really. Imagine pve would be only about killing couple NPCs in open world and that is. No quests, no LS, no dungeons, no raids, no skin collections – people would get bored and quit. This is what happened to pvp – there wasn’t much to do at begin besides doing couple matches for few dyes.
I am not even going to start on things like build template, terrible tutorials etc.

What really should have happened: they should have given the thief druid spec so the thief would actually get different role.

2) All MMR gained/lost from a match is calculated based off of average TEAM MMR, and not personal MMR.
I’m going to presume this is true since it’s consistent with anecdotal evidence, and if it’s true it is 100% a mistake. Like, your model is inconsistent and you fail your statistics exam kind of mistake.
It means your matchmaking is using a fallacious basis and your leaderboards don’t sort properly.
It would be good to get a confirmation to the contrary, because if the above is true GW2 isn’t using Glicko or Glicko-2 or anything of the sort, it’s using its own custom MMR that’s basically just wrong.
This is not anecdotical evidence. You should try to duoq with someone who is 100 or so ranks below you. Ask them how many ranks they gain/loss for every match with you. I promise you, it will be something like: you gain 10, they gain 20, you lose 20, they lose 15. The system currently does base rank gains/loss on personal MMR vs avg MMR of the enemy team. It does not take into account your teammates at all and given wonky MM that creates matches like plat/gold/gold/gold/gold vs legend/legend/plat/plat/plat on constant basis it becomes really punishing for no good reason.

- abysmally bad class balance, got really bad with HoT (as expected). No separation between pvp and pve never worked out, in any game. The whole power creep for the sake of sales is just……. i don’t have a single good word i could leave to comment this…decision.
- lack of tourneys to keep people interested in team play/improving thus playing more games etc. as well as pvp specific skill based shinies (at the end we all want to be best ever and only way to prove it is to win tourneys or have something meaningful to show off with)
- too much fiddling with pvp system that didn’t bring any good results even after so many years (e.g. current system still heavily punishes higher rated players by forcing them to carry low ranks for huge rank loss or abysmal rank gains. I am actually motivated by the system NOT to pvp). For some reason they still attempt to re-invent the wheel. On that note, i do want to say thank you to whoever was working on system last 2 seasons – it is still biggest improvement so far and best system we had in comparison to everything else but the issues are still too big and force players to quit. Couple tweaks (change MM to quality instead of quantity (get 10 ppl of similar MMR, then build teams instead of 2,2,2,4,5 vs 8,8,8,5), i would rather sit in 1 hour queue for one good match than waste that same hour on really bad and imbalanced matches; rank gains should be based on avg MMR of both teams and not personal MMR) and it would be nearly perfect.
I disagree that conquest is much of issue. I actually love this mode and i feel it enforces teamplay more than anything. That being said we really need (or needed, now it is sinking ship) to be able to duel other players anywhere in Tyria (see wow example) and we need 3v3 deathmatch mode on clean map.

Biggest mistake Anet ever did to GW2 pvp? Introducing the thief class.
They would lose a rather big chunk of potential customers if they didn’t.
@Killthehealersffs.8940: except matches are not balanced, never were, you have silvers playing vs legend on constant basis. That is on top of absolutely broken rank gains/loss. Sorry, but this does not create “skill based” ladder, this just forces players to quit game because those silvers etc. will be sitting in 30+ lost games due to bad MM that forces them into losing games. This is not what MM is for. Might as well delete it all together since it is no better than HJ.
And why do you think it is ok for single plat to be forced to carry 4 golds vs 4 legend/1 plat teams. The legend players do not have to do it – they have easy games (this applies to basically all divisions). Even in sports you don’t have top professional soccer teams playing vs 11 year old kids competitively. And those kids have their pocket money taken from them for losing games vs prof team basically. You find this actually fair? Because this is what current pvp system is. What a joke. No wonder people are leaving gw2 pvp.

I am not so bothered by community (have seen worse) but the system itself is just extremely discouraging, especially the higher you get in ranks. It is basically: you work 40 hours a week for 5k €/month, but then you get promotion and supposed to work 60 hours a week for 800 €/month. This is current pvp system for me. The system literary screams at me: do NOT PLAY THIS GAME!!!
Oh i see …so in the previous system where you didnt loose PiP if you scored enought points compered to the MMR on the enemy team MMR , you where crying that the Leaderboards has no prestige and they should stop reinventing the wheels and just coppy systems from other games ..
While now when you get higher >you loose more and gain less…you are not playing ?
Can you tell , why the devs should listen any1 in the community …if the community itself gonna use ‘’Change Of Hearts’’ 8 months ?
edit: since you changed your post, difference between divisions is more than 10 games or so due to abysmal rank gains that hit when you play more and more games. I started in low gold this season for w/e odd reasons, i did climb back to plat but i would gain 8 ranks….. per win and lose 15-22. It took more than 12-15 match to get out of one division.
I think you really don’t understand the actual issue. I am fine with rank system as it is. I am not fine the way MM and rank gains/losses work.
1. They threw any kind of MM out of window for the sake of short queue. You literary just get silver/gold vs legends. I am not joking, ask Sind. Also matches like plat/gold/gold/gold/gold vs legend/legend/plat/plat/gold are really common.
2. The rank gain/loss is based on personal mmr vs avg enemy team mmr. It does not take into account that you have to carry gold players vs legend players and since point 1 happens a lot it results in negative rank gain overall since you lose for matches more than you gain.
All i am asking is for balanced matches (which is not the case) and fair rank gains/losses (which is again not the case). It really blows my mind that you actually defend players being punished like this.

It’s not that simple when you have very little control over your party composition especially when terribads that only play 1 class will refuse to swap and MMR is all over the plce. My problem is definitely not self improvement lol none of t his would be an issue if I could just take a full team of friends into pvp who actually know how to play.
The current system is not competitive AT ALL. Duo queue is a complete joke, who the kittenhought of that lol people asked for solo q and team q to be separate, not this garbage.

I am not so bothered by community (have seen worse) but the system itself is just extremely discouraging, especially the higher you get in ranks. It is basically: you work 40 hours a week for 5k €/month, but then you get promotion and supposed to work 60 hours a week for 800 €/month. This is current pvp system for me. The system literary screams at me: do NOT PLAY THIS GAME!!!
Best way to play this game: not to play it at all. I spent more time playing offline games and OW this season than pvping in gw2. The system is designed around making you feel like crap.

I prefer waiting 20 minutes or longer for a match over having to carry silver or “not yet ranked people” in gold 2 in 2/3 of my matches.

All of which wouldn’t matter and wouldn’t happen if
1) Matchmaking had hard limits on its search ranges. Specifically search for players to play with/against ONLY in your division. Nothing higher, nothing lower.
OR
2) All MMR gained/lost from a match is calculated based off of average TEAM MMR, and not personal MMR.
Been preaching it for 2 seasons now. The game punishes you not only with teammates that are divisions below you but also huge rank losses because it sees only your personal MMR vs average enemy MMR and doesn’t take into account that you had way lower ranked team overall. You literary just play in negative (unless you queue with top players at 5 am and farm low ranks) – if you win, you gain little because enemy team was lower ranked, if you lose you lose a lot because system doesn’t care that your team sometimes hundreds of ranks below enemy team.
Queuing solo is absolute nightmare if you care even tiny bit about game. And if you don’t care you end up quiting… like i did.

You should get in my matches: losing 15+ ranks for 80-500 matches, getting 10 for close matches…. -_- Literary playing in negative.
… yeah thieves are so “OP” and yet nobody wants more than one on team.
Somehow people also have no issue with how much dmg DHs or wars pull out (which is far more than thief does) while being extremely tanky.
I still don’t understand why they changed Khylo besides making it easier for bunkers and harder for roamers.
I like the idea of ranked but it still needs tweaking and class balance introduced with HoT or rather lack of it is what ruined pvp imo.
GW2 could be potentially best MMORPG for pvp out there but they missed the chance by neglecting it for so long in first years. There is also still huge issue with carrots.
