I like the toolbelt skill and it would be much nicer if it was a stunbreaker too. As for your suggested changes, I think it was balanced to give off a really big heal, so it’ll stay at 40 seconds. However, I think that if no lethal damage was taken, the cooldown should be reduced in half.

Look like the old Mesmer armors. I’m sure some players will find them appealing. =)

Absolutely, the old Mesmer armors had some of the most amazing artwork back then. It’s only a shame that out of all the old armor artwork of GW1, it had to be the necromancer’s Krytan/profane armor set that got brought back as a classic armor set. The mesmer’s rogue’s armor would have been much better for both genders.

As for how it affects PvE/WvW, I can’t say anything for WvW, but I can say that turrets were never popular in PvE so their “viability” in that situation remains about the same. Though, I think I’m going to run turrets when the changes are out to see how it fairs.

Pls increase ele base HP

in Elementalist

DanteZero.9736

More HP would be nice, but I doubt Anet would have eles with 15k base HP. While it makes tons of sense and would definitely get me out of water magic, the dev(s) most likely looked at it internally and probably found that it was too much or didn’t match the “feel” or goals of the profession. However, 15k base HP is always nice, and I certainly wouldn’t need much if any points at all in water magic with that much HP.

Also, OP, how is 5k more HP more fun for everyone (not including eles)? What would players who don’t play eles and hate facing them in PvP say?

I think OP meant all the events occurring in the map instance you are in should appear on the world map instead of flashing the “nearest” event to the player.

Please fix this

in Thief

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

I have been playing as a thief (dagger main hand, pistol offhand), and have noticed a seriously unfair way of killing high level enemies.

By using the 5th skill, “black powder”, you can make a group of enemies miss all of their attacks for 4 seconds, since the enemies make no attempt to get out of the AOE. During this time, you can land 2 full rounds of auto attacks, and then use heartseeker to go invisible (this happens when you combo heartseeker with the black powder AOE). Then backstab, and repeat.

You can literally do this indefinitely with the “infusion of shadow” trait, since you gain the same initiative back over the 4 seconds as you used. You receive close to no damage from the monsters you are killing because they spend the whole time being blind, hence you are able to kill things way above your level by adopting this very repetitive play style.

I am getting SO BORED doing it because everything is so easy to kill. At the same time, I can’t resist the temptation of using it to level up quickly. Please fix this so there is no longer any temptation! I am making myself get so bored of this game!

Not an exploit. Besides, it used to be that the blinding effect would pulse once per second with a one second duration. Now it pulses once per two seconds with a two second duration because it was deemed too good in its original state.

As for growing bored, you brought this onto yourself by playing that style. You can bring yourself out of it by playing another style.

Why Guild Wars 2 is the most 'Square' world

US states borders are almost all squares too, so what is the issue?

EU borders aren’t. So what?

Just to clarify a few things (not trying to sound antagonistic here). EU borders aren’t square because they all are almost entirely developed along natural landmarks and geographical areas/obstacles (I’m forgetting the correct terms here).

If you look at the US map, you’ll see the eastern states have an almost organic appearance because of mountains and rivers acting as natural obstacles. Once you look at the western side of the US map, you’ll notice the borders begin to look more like straight lines and more block/rectangular in shape.

Anyone here throw out Ascended Armor boxes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Ascended armor boxes are technically valued as the total cost of all the materials needed to craft it. However, its actual worth is based on the player and the build(s) the player has equipped. In the rare situations that I get an ascended armor or weapon box with a stat that I have utterly no use for (Magi items, I’m glaring at you), I tend to unlock the item skin so that it counts for the collection and then I toss it out. It’s a shame the items can’t be salvaged for materials for crafting other stat combos.

RMT Purchases - Expect them to be Removed

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Hey all,

We have been fairly relaxed since launch on players purchasing wealth from “Real Money Traders”, but that stops now. We will be taking a very active stance against RMT buyers from here on out.

The purchasing of wealth from these “Real Money Traders” violates our Rules of Conduct. These traders are often a cause for fraud, hacking, and identity theft.

Repercussions from purchasing wealth can result in removal of wealth and continued purchasing could result in action against your account including temporary suspension or permanent ban from the game.

I’m confused here. You guys handle gold spammers swiftly, but why weren’t you guys handling RMT customers in the listed manner swiftly from the outset? What was the overall mindset behind the initial (and I know it’s a bad analogy but I can’t think of a better one), “slap on the wrist” approach?

An Approach to Fishing!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

One problem I see with fishing is that mining, logging, and harvesting can be done on any map—fishing technically can’t be done on every map. Fishing requires a source of water— and maps without sources of water typically mean adding sources of water and populating with underwater creatures, structures, etc. On existing maps with little water, that would mean the fishing nodes would be effectively limited to possibly small areas. I’m pretty sure that conflicts with the overall goal of making gathering spread out throughout a map.

It would make more sense to channel Rurik since his spirit is in the mists and his corpse is probably near the same location where he was last seen— the Ring of Fire Islands. Also, Rytlock is wielding Sohothin, Rurik’s sword, compared to Magdaer, which is supposedly in Eir or her blacksmith friend’s possession.

no under water content in hot?

Underwater combat is probably being looked at or will be looked at. As for the lack of underwater content, there needs to be improvements over the current system for new content to be made.

For the moment, I would say pretend that the verticality of the HoT maps are what we can expect if there were more underwater zones.

I suspect that the sheer amount of verticality in the HoT maps are actually part of the base game maps by default. Specifically, maps such as Frostgorge Sound with its crazy deep underwater trench-like areas prove that the artists can create some really deep maps.

Confusion dmg increased by 33%

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

It benefits monsters way more than it benefits players. Confusion is still useless thanks for it’s scarcity in applying them, yet monsters often stack confusion like crazy (5 stacks per hit, easily build up to 25).

This so called “buff” just doesn’t make sense, and make monsters with insane confusion stacking ability to be overpowered.

To be fair, players can also cleanse conditions more easily than monsters. However, I do agree with your point that applications of confusion are scarce and I would also add that durations for confusion on most skills and traits are also short. Most of the skills and traits that apply confusion last about 4 seconds without duration condition modifiers. Considering the slow attack speeds, that’s about 1-2 attacks. Sadly, this renders confusion very lackluster.

While I do agree that the break-bar sounds more like a small patch-up to a large problem, I do think that we should give it a chance and see how it works in a live environment first.

Sure, the usage of the break-bar means that CC is now reduced to numbers and makes them feel less special, but perhaps it’ll work really well live?

Right now, all we have is what it will do on paper, some small scale previews of it working in a controlled (new)environment, and not much else to it. I would really like to see these changes first hand in a live environment coughPublicBetacough.

GW2 needs ability to modify UI

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

Wouldn’t mind something like a “toolbelt” for consumables, or even for a spot where you can keep track of that one material you’re trying to farm.
3-5 Keybindable slots where you can just drag and drop stuff from the inventory wouldn’t really kill the game, and would be a good QoL improvement for using foods/tonics, and simply just keeping track of how many of a certain item you have on you.

In terms of having keybinds specifically for consumables, I’m pretty sure a dev once said that having the option would make players feel like they are forced to always have consumables since the very option is there. While it is certainly a good QoL improvement, I don’t think we’re going to be seeing bindable consumable buttons.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DanteZero.9736

DanteZero.9736

This has to be said.

I haven’t played GW2 for about a year, maybe a bit more. I reached end-game back then, played around and after a while gave up because I got bored and lag was pretty bad back then (this was also around the time the trading shop was down for a few days for Mac users only). Then ESO was announced and I was like: suck it ArenaNet, Bethesda is going to take all your players.

Believing in pre-release hype is bad. Really bad. You got suckered in by the hype from a studio you had very little knowledge of.

In any case, fast forward almost a year and despite seeing tons of new and exciting GW2 news I decide to buy ESO Online now that it’s finally B2P. This thing costs 60$, and there’s no refund – but I think: hey, how bad can it be – it’s from the guys that made Skyrim.

No, it’s not by the same guys who made Skyrim. That’s a very common mistake and I think ZeniMax was hoping people would associate ESO with the single player elder scrolls games. It was made by a studio that is part of ZeniMax, the parent publisher, but it is by no means made entirely by the same team that made the the single player elder scrolls games. I’m pretty sure Todd Howard, the brains behind Skyrim, wasn’t personally overseeing anything about ESO but I could be wrong on that part.

ESO is so darn uninspired it made me upset! I’ve logged 25 hours in the game, around 13 of those are install hours o_O

Battle is a drag, the in-game world is boring to explore and the skills are not adding to the battle at all yet. Lore is great though, I’ll give them that. But really, there’s no strategy and hitboxes are deplorably bad. After about three days of frustration and boredom I can no longer force myself to play it, and am downloading GW2 as I type this.

Maybe because I’m older or have just played more games, but I look back on my time with GW2 and I remember excitement, mystery and great, challenging combat. Glad to be back, let’s hope the magic hasn’t faded (…. and that they didn’t stop working on the Mac client!!!!)

Anyone else come here from ESO?

I did not come from ESO, but I will say that when I found out about the reveal of ESO, I personally found it generic from the beginning—especially when prerelease, it was revealed it would all be in third person but due to fan demand, first person mode was added in.

That and having played Oblivion and Skyrim, I could tell that while the universe was deep, the setting felt pretty generic. An MMO relies pretty heavily on the setting and another high fantasy, swords/sorcery with relatively low level technology MMO wasn’t something that I think was necessary.

Oh, and don’t forget that there are plenty of reviews. I generally check out a few reviews not to see the final scores, but to see what parts were disliked by the reviewer and consider if I would dislike it.

I was so disappointed back in GW: Factions that the daggers/sword wasn’t exactly like the one seen in the trailer/wallpaper.

I have so many taking up space that it’s driving me crazy. I would love to have an option to stack them all up into one big kit that is similar to the mystic salvage kits and their 250 uses. Or maybe being able to mystic forge them into 100 use kits and then mystic forging those 100 use kits into 400 use kits. I need that space!

You are sitting on a gold mine there buddy..use them to salvage 80 exotics for insignia’s (as said earlier by someone) or ecto’s to obtain Crystalline dust (the ratio of getting Crystalline dust by BLSK is quite rewarding is my experience). Also obtain some luck on the side

Am I? Because it can only be a gold mine if there were enough exotic drops (not dungeon token weapons) to actually use them on. That’s also assuming we’re talking about exotic armor pieces with high value runes.

My guess, given that the different legends being supported by the different trait lines..

Shiro: Power and Condition Duration
Mallyx: Precision and Condition Damage
Jalis: Toughness and Healing Power
Ventari: Vitality and Boon Duration
Glint: Class Mechanic and Ferocity

I can easily see Ventari being the support legend. Time will only tell if we’re going to be able to spam boons with his trait line though.

The stat combos make the most sense given that the many existing classes have similar if not the exact same stat combos across their trait lines (or all of their trait lines). Of course, Anet could pull a fast one and switch things up a bit, but we’ll have to wait until we get closer to the beta I guess.

It’s too easy to be immobilized and you move really slow. Also, the damage pulse from tornado happens once per three seconds (not talking about the whirl+lighting field effect and the three tornado skills).

Tornado needs a bit more than just the stability change imo. Perhaps adding pulsing resistance in addition to possibly pulsing stability. As for the pitiful damage/CC pulse times, well, if it’s reduced to 1 damage pulse per second with 1 CC pulse per 3 seconds, it might be something nice.
