That is nowhere near a true gyro build.
Not all gyros on the skillbar and no final salvo. Not even close. Try again.
Alpine border.
That is all.
We have gliders now so it is more likely that we can traverse the terrain when Arena Net decide to go to it.
I doubt it will be till an expansion, fingers crossed it will be the next one.
What does gliders have to do with the Tengu? They cant fly and their “Dominion of Winds” is just regular old island behind the wall. It has nothing to do with flying.
If EoTM is “stealing WvW players”, by that same logic EB is stealing players from the borders (120+ queue on EB, none on borders on reset). Remove EB and WvW population balance is magically fixed! Or something like that.
Gyro…is a gyro…with all his problems. Might seen some usage if the heal wasn’t that subpar
Healing is a little less over 20s cooldown (I havent counted exactly, about 1000-1500hp less or so assuming blasted turret vs superspeed healing) but people that say it makes it healing “subpar” are missing the most obvious thing – the toolbelt skill. That’s about 5 seconds of AoE protection on a 25s cooldown that’s also a mobile waterfield. Reconstruction field is a literal lifesaver in many situations, especially vs bursting. Regenerating mists isnt even remotely close.
And this is ignoring its use as cc/damage when you pop it. Can you activate turrets while doing something else like stomping? I cant remember, it was so long ago since I used the HT lol. Gyros does not interrupt what you are doing, so stomp and heal at the same time.
Continue getting cele or change it to a tanky build? In PvE? Wait wat… Just slap on zerker armor and change trinkets as you please.
I suspect people will be yammering on about WvW being dead in this forum next year. People have been saying WvW is dead for years. It certainly is on the decline but it will likely take a very long time to die.
WvW died when they changed the culling! Everyone knows this!
I am not familiar with the path, but you still have an event going top right. So the game doesnt think you are finished.
Well they are revamping Shatterer so they could revive one of the most epic event GW2 has had – the Shatterer flyby invasion of Ashford. It was fun PvP in a PvE zone. Broken, but fun. Preferably without Rytlock instakilling corrupted players.
Only time the Lord are at the right spot is at reset. Rest of the week you find him pretty much everywhere. Very often he is outside on the keep/tower and we can farm champ bags all day long due to that. Other times he is at the gate were he can be killed whilst taking the gate down. The worst spot i seen was last week when we found him on top of the supply depot inside of a tower, i mean how the hell did he even get there?
Spider lord!
Spider lord!
Does whatever a spider lord does!
Can he swing from a web?
No he can’t
He’s a lord
Lookout!
He is the spider lord!!
Helseth about scrapper… 100% truth.
Yes because its entirely impossible that he met a very good scrapper on a build that’s perfectly countering an OP chronomancer in a situation where AoE tanky melee on point will actually hurt soft ranged that rely on stealth and evasion, ending in a stalemate – stay on point and loose it/die or run away and use tactics to take it from him.
Bleh, I dont play sPvP at so kitten it, I know nothing.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Dont feel too bad, you’ll probably get a pity infraction for this pointless topic.
These maps are not as bad as people claim once you get used to them and some of the boons you get from a keep if you control the shrines are just fun
Once you get used to them its not so bad, once you truly get to know them you realize that the core flaws is still a major hindrance to gameplay. Theres no way around that.
I remember the good old days when I first saw the engie reveal video. Its what got me interested in GW2 in the first place, putting down mines and turrets. But as per above, they nerfed turrets to the ground. No more fun with them.
While I still have many thousands of normal badges, I have noticed the same type of drain when buying superior siege. You dont get enough normal badges to cover the heroics. Guess this is Anets way of doing a badge sink and kitten us off at the same time by restricting bag space for WvW (but not to worry, by more for gems!).
Actually if you put your eye to your monitor and look really really really close you will notice that subsquads already have a slightly brighter shade of the same blue. Your name is also market by a border.
Whoever did the design of that made a spectacular failure and apparently never play the game or tested it in practice. Players noticed it in seconds (where is my squad, we’re all just blue!).
Read before you start defend “underpowered” Scrapper again:
- invul below 25%
- stealth for year every 20 seconds
- evade on hammer “3”
- block on hammer “4”
- stun on hammer “5”
- insane combo field/finishers for CC or DMG
- OP healing turret + leap finisher
- perma retaliation
- perma condi clears
- stability
- SLICKY SHOES which are sick on point fights and every duel
Which is why the nerf to the sneak gyro is going to be hilarious. If Anet is supposed to tweak Scrapper “survivability”, the sneak gyro nerf does almost nothing. They will have to nerf the Scrapper again. And again. And again. And again. Oh the joy for scrappers. Arent you all glad the sneak gyro is going to be nerfed?!
A tip – always put at least one invisible bag last in your inventory, then store all your stock stuff there (extra weapons, food, items, shovels, keys, obligatory quaggan potion, etc).
(you can put it first too, but IMO its easier to have the constantly shifting loot/salvage bags first).
Just one example of how they fail to see the potential of their own game mechanics: Combo Fields
Combo Fields are the root of cooperative gameplay in this game, they are THE only reason this MMO is better than others when it comes to large group fight.
The irony being that comboing your own fields has always been one of the prime reasons for class imbalances and OP mechanics in WvW (Thief able to blast/leap through his own smoke fields being the perfect example).
Even the Hammer Bolt auto-attack can land for 5k on a crit.
My Guardian has 2500 toughness (yes, for the lols). Hammer bolt can still do 2K damage on me, I had to check logs just to be sure. Of course he was probably full zerker, but regardless thats absolutely insane for an extreme range autoattack that go through walls.
EOTM is the new fight meta. Sad but it’s true. Last night all three sides must have been capped because the blob v blobs were like 80+ v 80+ and the fights lasted for the first 2 hours straight of the match. Haven’t seen fights of that scale in a long time. EOTM has been great for fights in general for the last maybe 5 – 6 months or so but it’s getting to the point that so many people are going there for it that it’s reminding me of when WvW was younger, healthy and active.
The fights are extremely fun and nostalgic but at the same time, a lot of uplevels and people completely new to the game are in Edge that don’t know how to listen to a tag. It makes it really frustrating when you’re the one commanding because sometimes you get a good zerg other times people just don’t want to listen. That and the majority of PUGs quit after only a few wipes which means these large scale fights only last until one or two of the three sides gets tired of being wiped which only usually takes between 1 and 2 hours.
I’ve been going to EOTM to vacation from real WvW at least a couple times a week since it was released and I’ve seen how it’s evolved from pure ktrain and fight avoidance to nothing but blood thirsty fightmanders hunting each other and running people down. If you want fights, albeit hit and miss in quality, go to EOTM. I’d much prefer it if people would stay in EBG or the borderlands to fight where there are more 80’s and co-ordination but my word won’t change everyone’s mind so I’m just letting you know where the action is if you want it.
You know you got lucky with the instance lottery, right?
EoTM has the same population and balance issues as WvW, its just going at a much faster pace with the reshuffling of instances every 3h. I have been on plenty of EoTM maps where 1 or more server has given up and the strongest is karma farming the remains.
Everytime someone brings up something like this another month is added to fixing WvW.
If it takes them a month to change the spelling in the table, then GW2 programming is so badly arranged that WVW will never be fixed anyway. Unless you’re thinking these changes work something like this.
… WvW changes clearly do. Still waiting for the 5th patch that fixes walls (its probably not going to fix them).
TL;DR
PvE doing decent
sPvP went full kitten esports mode (it still sucks)
WvW is broken beyond belief
Everytime someone brings up something like this another month is added to fixing WvW.
The melee->ranged shift wasnt really that bad. A strong melee core with guardians is still pretty much standard in all zergs I have seen. But that doesnt change the fact the current stab system has always been impossible to balance.
I rather like the idea of 1s icd on dropping 1 stab. Sounds like a simple solution that should buff it alot in large scale and group combat while keeping it similar small scale.
Steve.
Bob is probably easier to pronounce under water.
There is no simple fix. What you suggest is a bandaid on a cut off limb. Ultimately, its the positioning and design of camps/towers/keeps and overall layout of all the canyons that make people shun away.
There are lots of different meta builds, check out metabattle per standard operating procedure. Many people opt for a little toughness in order to take the initial force of zerker gankers. Unlike sPvP, your enemy rarely approach from the front in an orderly manner. GG trying to survive 2 zerker thieves ambushing you if you are a zerker yourself, it has little to with “surviving in a zerg” unless you build for frontline melee. Alot of people also go toughness/condi.
Either way just join WvW and try it out. You never know what works for you unless you do. Different enemy servers have different ratios of meta roamers – some which zerker is bad against, some which it is good.
And, yes, I’m extremely salty about BnS using GG because I really enjoyed what I did get to see. Oh well, Kingdom Under Fire 2 will be using a different third party anti-cheat program (Xigncode), which also happens to be the same anti-cheat that BDO will be using. Hopefully it’s not as useless.
Quick search show Xigncode is just as easy to bypass and an even more intrusive rootkit computer activity logger than GameGuard. So yeah… Good luck with that.
To me, it kinda boils down to location. If people are dueling off in the corner of a map, who cares? Let them have their fun.
So what do you think about the areas around SM? Just curious, as its by far the most popular dueling spots (more often than not, the only spot) and it can sometimes cause SM to be contested.
Personally I dont care for dueling or GvG. I just walk past what I consider to be a fair fight where my allies determine whether they live or die. If they die because I didnt “help”… so be it. A good fight is what gets the heart pumping.
Eithet way 1v2 (or more) is the ultimate test of your combat skills, hugging that dueling safety blanket does not impress me.
Lords were made somewhat tougher but now that we know how to fight them its seems other then Hills and Bay they are easier, hell in Garri one person can just tank Gimpy the Golem.
Hills is a bit annoying, but bay is dead simple, lol. Instead of blindly zerging straight in, you can pull her to either side or front edge – the knockdown mechanic break on the stairs (ie you cant get knockdowned) and you cant be feared anywhere dangerous.
I find that the stupid teleporting/stealthing/stunning ogre is faaaaaaaar harder to bring down than than bay lord with a small man crew and thats just a lousy tower. Seriously, you get stunned and interrupted every 2 seconds. Theres been instances where I havent even been able to use any skill at all for like 10-15s.
they mixed your idea and mine together lol I actually took blame for it about a day ago :P
Since we on the pvp topic in wvw forum, why not add hammers to each keep that can shoot lasers at players attacking any of our towers… haha just kidding.. don’t do it anet
and we got the Oasis event in the new BL’s.. Sorry guys but I will take full blame for that event due to my sarcastic remark. I didn’t think they’d actually do it
I also recall someone asking for a dragon to spawn in EBG to wipe zergs and we got airship strikes now.
I… uh… hm…. possibly remember suggesting actual airships in WvW.
But theres no need to search the forums or anything, I am probably mistaken.
Yep great stats and something Anet should show during their morning meetings.
But we all know how that would end.
Anet dev: “Look at this chart people. Its not that we failed, of course we didnt fail. Sorry to say, we didnt anticipate just how much into PvE the WvW community really is. We’re making a new border map with 4 terrain levels, more events, more mobs and completely revamped point system that is based on raid boss kills in keeps. That will surely improve the popularity of borders. Get working on it right away! Oh and do tell the community that we’ve been working on it for a year now, that’ll shut them up for a few months.”
Would be fair to improve the gyro a bit if it gets a much higher cd.
Or give the other gyros something in return. For example, put purge on 15s cooldown. Even better, make the final salvo trait reduce cd on all gyros by 20%. Then I’d be perfectly happy with 40s base cd on sneak.
But just as is, its a completely pointless nerf. The sneak gyro is not what give a meta scrapper its survivability while dealing damage. Anet will probably realize this eventually but they will of course never admit they are wrong and lower the cd again. That’s the sad part. Sneaky is sacrificed because reasons and you’ll see the scrapper nerfed again.
Yes. Hang your head in shame. Be afraid to even talk to Anet.
Rocket Chg CD going from 10s to 12s
Stealth Gyro CD going from 20s to 40s
Stealth Gyro CD increase I can accept.
Although to 40s seems pretty big increase.Rocket charge cd increase doesnt feel like a good nor fair change.
They said defensive nerfs.
This is also an offensive nerf and mobility nerf.
Are they gonna bring the dmg and mobility back in some way by buffing other spells?
That make absolutely no sense since the sneak gyro can also be used offensively and is a massive boon for combat mobility (especially in WvW), yet you find that nerf perfectly acceptable while a measly 20% cd increase on a single skill on a pretty strong melee weapon an “unfair” change.
That… is absolutely ridiculous.
If the gold is taken out of circulation, then the seller should obviously get the slivers back and what they cost to put on the TP, while the buyer should get the slivers removed. Seller would loose nothing, while the buyer lost his bought gold and get nothing.
- Diamond Skin: nerfed to be a 1 condi removed on 1s internal cooldown, but only active as long as above 75% health. [Aka, condi builds will really trash you fast]
1v1 vs anything other than a necro dumping all the condis, this sound more like a buff.
As a condi its still hard as kitten now to even get a good elementalist below 90% because of massive healing. Condis which apply lots of stacks but not that many different types will probably find it impossible to bring an ele below 75%. 1s icd is nothing, if an engie use pistols to dump skills 2/3/4 it would easily take each condition out on cd.
1vX though, eles are boned with that change.
But I suppose it will be interesting to see how it works in practice.
40s on sneak gyro?
Well there’s the scrapper gone to kitten.
The low cooldown was what made it fun in WvW, it allowed the scrapper to become a sneaky commando. Its still nowhere near as OP as Thief stealth even at 20s cooldown.
30s would have been far more acceptable. I hate it when Anet go full kitten on skills balancing instead of at least trying to take small steps.
Pretty much the only thing that change fps in zerg warfare is character model limit.
I get visual feedback faster with everything turned down even if my FPS is above 30 during large fights.
Like the OP I have an overclocked i7 with a beefy NVidia graphics card. I have a 3D Mark FireStrike score around 18k and the machine has 32GB RAM. It isn’t the hardware. Dropping the graphics to the minimum seems to save a few milliseconds on player response time. It could be perception but our entire guild has noticed the issue on each of our machines so some performance issue seems to be present in the higher graphic render settings. Oddly this is the only game I have this issue. Everything else for the most part can be played in Ultra settings without an issue including other MMOs.
Of course you can drop the graphics settings to minimum if you want.
Unfortunetly for me that’s the eqvivalent of pouring acid into my eyes followed by stabbing them with a fork. The game look like complete kitten on low. I’d rather loose the fight than save those milliseconds.
Pretty much the only thing that change fps in zerg warfare is character model limit.
That said, you need at least 2 f2ps, one to kill, one that rezzes, or you must walk after each kill to that super hidden secret lair of f2pabuse
No you dont, already said how to do it with Anets new and improved waypoints.
Most people that would abuse this probably already have plenty of accounts on multiple servers.
Last I heard there was a petition going to add open world pvp server for NA BnS. I think you can duel/fight by wearing some special “pvp” cloths that show you’re down to fight. And the PvP arenas are like 3v3 I think. But I haven’t played it, so I could be wrong.
Its a Korean MMO right? If it beats Archeage sPvP which consisted of 5v5 on a single tiny map with about 4 different assets and the same modern shipping container (for some reason, despite being a medieval fantasy) repeated 10 times, I will be shocked. Shocked i say!
Been running something similar to this on my reaper since HoT released mostly because I ran a similar build on the necro before except with more wells, heh. Its awesome as a camp capper (facetank everything and go lolololol), good against many types of roamers and got a ton of stamina… buuuuut I dont really find it that amazing overall. Today, many people have gotten really good with their elite specs (well, many reapers too). In my experience it can still be kited despite rs stab and have serious problems when facing multiple decent opponents. The ever so popular druid in particular was always a death sentance for me.
But granted, I’m not the best of reapers and moved on to scrapper.
Denying reviving the dead while in combat will be one of the best changes they have made in the life of the game.
Just a correction. Its one of the best changes they will make. Maybe. Soon. Later in 2016. At least this year. Possibly. Well its a rumour anyway.
Seeing as everyone is mentioning Mice, I should point out that I have had a Naga, a TTesports but not the Redragon. But looking at it I would suffer the same issue I had with the Naga and TTesports mice. Which is they were just too big for my hand, having to move/adjust my hand on the mouse to hit a button became a chore and actually contributed to a bout of repetitive strain injury.
I now use a Mad Catz Rat5 which is a fairly small mouse but extendible in length, this has been my saviour for modern gaming and the button overload we are subjected to.
If Razer is too big, try going for Logitech. Pretty much made for girly hands. Well you already have a rat5, but still the suggestion apply to everyone. Logitech mice like the G502 has considerably improved the thumb rest but they are still small and narrow compared to a real mans mouse like Qpad, Mionix or Func. The MS-3 in particular is like moving a mold of your palm, its so kitten perfect in shape (its a shame that some decent company doesnt take the China OEM shape and put real good tech in it). Unfortunetly they are all kittenty in other ways, but still. Personally I run with a Deathadder and its an acceptable compromise between shape and function.
… by god man, you’re right!
I cant even remember last time I got a complete spoon.
Well what are you speccing? If you go through the firearms tree and spec condi, you probably get +50% condi duration on pistol skills, +33% bleeding and +33% burning.
Interesting. On my Reaper I always ignore the adds and just drop the lord. I’ll have to look at moving around a little more.
Not sure what you expected. A proper reaper is alot tankier than a scrapper.
In WvW when I solo T3 camps with 5ish dredge/ogres in them, I have to keep my scrapper mobile and avoid bursts. One wrong move before you cut them down in size and you could be dead.
When I do the same on my reaper, its just to go in full nuke, spin for win and go “lololololol” while regening more LF than the guards do damage.
