Let them report you. Why should you care if you didnt do anything. it’sd not Lol where everyone can report anyone for anything.
Oh… no no no, the original title “Player Report Reports” was just a bit of a play on words. I didn’t mean another option in game to report people. I meant a report, as in the statistics, on the volume of reports being made by players. To see how volatile and agitated the player base becomes on certain content releases. I have a feeling we’re living through a peak at the moment.
It’s just a large gold sink created by anet. Nothing new here.
I think you summed it up well. But Hey! I read everyone’s post. Reading isn’t completely dead yet
TY for everyone’s input. Please note that it is all Smooth Penguin’s fault that you read this thread. He has now admitted to have been too lazy to help the good people of Tyria to understand the world they live in (the game) better. Though found enough the time and energy to promote Evon over you!
I couldn’t help but add that in lulz
Why open up new zones when the majority of the playerbase doesn’t even utilize some of the zones we have right now?
New zones are such a huge undertaking and the excitement level falls off pretty hard. I’d rather have Anet design the game to add more value/playtime among current maps than make new ones.
For me personally, I dislike most of the zones. Whomever runs the art department and I have serious differences in taste I like Hoelbrak, Wayfarer, Queensdale, and Zephyr Sanctum. Thus, I’d appreciate more zones like them. Instead of being encouraged into zones that I already know and don’t like much.
Besides, I have a feeling the greater map areas were designed before launch.
Towards your RNG comment if everyone got one for completing the event it would not be worth 100g. And no one would want it. So there is no quantification of valuable without RNG drops.
If it is something worth it you could spend the 100g to get it
I completely disagree with you. I want an item because I like it, not because someone else values it. I’m not a flipper and 100g takes a long time to gather up by playing. Also, I don’t even like Scarlet’s Kiss. The topic is the disparity and value for our time spent playing.
Zylonite, I so hear you on that. That’s the kind of horrible experience you had that I’m referring to. For loot, I’d swear because I’ve bought a lot of gems with cash, that my account been set to a permanent “B” rate. Never a precursor, Asceneded weapon, rare dye outside of white. My best drop was worth all of 10g.
Though the drop rate conversation is getting us off topic. Our time, especially for the Living Story, should be rewarded more uniformly. I should add that it’s not the RNG as much as it’s the rarity and scarcity in game that’s the issue. Having such scarcity only increases the wealth disparity. I don’t believe it’s very healthy to have it this way.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
So, I just hit 15 of 15 on both of my accounts. Here’s what I received for loot on each.
1 lvl 80 Yellow
1 Scroll of Knowledge
1 Exotic Essence of Luck
1 Limited use Guild Shield Finisher
5 Obsidian Shards
50 Blade Shards
After sharing it map chat someone whispered they received Scarlet’s Kiss. I was even in the middle of the holo fight and just logged. I cannot express how much I dislike this RNG system. So, one persons time is worth over 100g and yet, another is worth a piddling 50 silver? This kinda crud on the Mystic Forge is one thing but, the Living Story shouldn’t have such extreme reward disparities between players.
This might even be worse than the Season One WvW rewards, honestly.
The amount is because you are only supposed to do ONE Knight and then enter the portal. Not zerg all three of them for loot bags. GG SMH…
Oh, and the OP can go kitten. He’s just being selfish and doesn’t like others having a chance at loot.

to some degree Mesmers
Whoa…whoa…whoa… there sparky GS Mesmer here and Good Ole’ #1 does 2k – 3.5k. Heck, my IZerker is doing 8k-9.5k against the Knights. I’m having no trouble contributing to the events. Now the last two weeks, yeesh. I kept my Mesmer parked from LA events.
For Ranger’s, can you set your pet to passive and place “Guard” down along an outside wall to keep your pet on the sidelines? I’ll take mine in a give it a try once I get the achievements done.

The Assault knights were intended to be a fight that players had to split up and fight at the same time
I really wish Arenanet would make this clear by making a tutorial video before the patch even goes live. It would save players from SO much hostility in map chat. I do like trying to figure things out for myself but, not in a hostile environment.
And yes, it seemed perfectly clear we were to split into 3 groups. The portals right next to the Knights was a big enough sign
Oh, while I might have your eye’s for a moment, maybe a video covering the importance of food, utility, and stacking buffs please? The majority of players I’ve been in zone with today haven’t had any. With a DPS check like the Knights, I figured players would know to come ready to hit hard but, I don’t think players care enough or simply know enough about the mechanics of foods and utilities beyond magic find. That everyone knows well it seems.
Thank you for working on this. I’m looking forward to an update and fix for the Knights loot. Also, crossing my fingers someone turns up the drop rate on cores to make up for the lost time. wink.. wink.. nudge, nudge
I’m curious if back slot items could be considered play to win items? Apparently some devs are making certain the best in slot ones remain very pricey. Most Quivers still cost over 100g, Light of Dwayna is over 250g, and the Tempered Spinal Blades material cost are running about 95g right now. Not counting all the blade shards one has to farm for them.
If Back Slot items were cosmetic only, it wouldn’t be an issue. But, with stats included, does this cross into pay to win territory? If something as insignificant as the Watchwork Mining Pick could raise such a stir, I thought about back slot items.
Any thought on the matter? Should it be so expensive to gear our characters beyond cosmetic?

OP, I think you mixed it up while writing it.
Zerg takes blue to 5%, leaves 10 players behind.
Zerg takes green to 5%, leaves 10 players behind.
Zerg takes Red to 5%, waits…
Blue & green should kill there targets.
Then Red goes last as it has the zerg there.
Though I do not believe this method is the most efficient, I just wanted to clarify
I think it’s obvious to see that players have been stirred and divided the past couples of weeks due to the Living Story content. Just looking at the threads where people are stating they’ve been reporting others. It’s quite a disturbing trend to say the least. I’d love to see a trend report on the number and the types of reports being made. Anyone else curious to see this? Consider it a “State of the State” report.
Because in the end, I think the success of the game requires a happy and engaged player base.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Tell you what, since standing still is going to be considered a Bannable Offense now, I’ll make certain to keep attacking the Legendary Knights with my Full Condi Tormment Grenade Engi. Too bad the event will likely fail again and again as I wipe so many people out.
There’s an achievement requiring inaction! Blame the Dev’s for another design that promotes inaction. Which is exactly what they are trying to do to “teach” players. Do NOT blame the players for trying their best to get achievements.
So many complaints because events are failing. Meanwhile, I’ve been targeting my fellow players to check buff statuses and most aren’t using any food/utility buffs. Certainly they are purposefully NOT playing up to their capacity, right? Is that grieving or leeching too??? Can I start wholesale reporting every player on map not playing well? Think about that slippery slope…
after 2 days spent on it I’m already done with it.
Better question is, how many hrs did you spend getting all the achievements? Anything over 10 hrs would be a lot of content for the average player to consume in 2 weeks.

Not very much at all. Finishing the knights in under 6 minutes is the real challenge.
Captain Kiel and Heal-o-Tron are at the Molten Knight (red) event and go up to the drill with us. She’s fighting off the Molten Alliance on the ground and will rezz folks up on the drill. Guessing all the 6 NPC’s rezz while on the ground in LA too.
Most of my characters are full or near full height Norns. All the ones I run in WvW are the Norns. Except, for this one time I created a tiny Asura Necro for up level day. Wow, a zerg fight was hilariously easy to run around in. They may say the hit box is the same (I don’t believe it entirely) but, the visual size made a difference.
Handin, don’t start with that TC Dolly parade bull kitten. Every time I try to run around I get killed instantly. Where’s the love I ask??? TC has become the “way too serious” server. T1 has been a bad influence on you.
Done it a couple of times now on my Mesmer. Followed Dulfy’s way with a slight mod. The second time I did it I actually missed the dodge and was knocked back. Time warp was still active so I hit Decoy and ran back in for the stomp. Scarlet actually went for the decoy and the stomp was mostly out of stealth.
Because black is the rarest color. Of the 9 Endless tonics that dropped for me, Black isn’t one of them. Even with the regular consumable tonics, black is the least plentiful one that’s dropped for me.
Whoa… said method of controlling the character while farming was probably the issue. From what I read it wasn’t about farming in itself or anything about finishing an event.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying or farming an event and letting it run as long as you want. Now, if someone comes along and wants to finish it and you berate them, that’s a different story.
If Anet wants events to end in a certain amount of time, then they have to put a timer on them. Can’t magically expect players to know what the Dev’s want. Nor, should players have a huge grey area held over them of what is or isn’t an acceptable duration.
I vote Logan x Rytlock.
That has to be your first post I’ve ever +1’d
Kinda figured Logan was a furry with that hair. Either that or a Twihard hiding behind his armor
Unreasonable??? I think it’s unreasonable to expect every new generation to be less than the previous one in game.
generation of what? less in what way?
I seriously have no idea what you’re talking about here.
How is the term mostly used? As in once a character progresses to 80, some of us make another character and begin again. Thus, that could be considered a generation. So why should the younger generation be incapable of equal gearing? Ascended crafting and Laurels already limit alt progression to a snails pace. Also, WvW ranks limits an alt’s capacity too. Combined, these elements make alts woefully second class citizens of Tyria.
The heck with LA, Scarlet, and Dragons. How about making a digital recreation of the Anet offices so the Alt’s of Tyria can storm it!!!
#RiseoftheAlt’s2014
17 though.. I think it’s unreasonable of you to expect to be able to equip all of them with ascended gear.
Unreasonable??? I think it’s unreasonable to expect every new generation to be less than the previous one in game. There’s little incentive to create new characters then. And please, someone might think, “Wow, I can finally gear this character in 2 years!” as a good thing but, surely I do not.
I think it’s unreasonable to have changed the binding after the fact. I intelligently planned and farmed for the exact amount of blades needed. I figured out how many were required to make one of each rarity in Zerker and a Celestial Exotic too. For them to switch now after the fact is nothing less then unreasonable. Oh, and I have two accounts so that means farming for that many back packs TWICE! There binding choices completely screw some players over to no end.

Did it on my Mesmer. Utilities used were Blink, Signet of Inspiration, and Time Warp for the elite.
Placed time warp on top of Scarlet.
Simultaneously, Signet of Inspiration proc’d placing swiftness on me.
Blinked in front of Scarlet and started stomp.
Dodged left, then dodged right to go back in front of her.
Stomp again to completion.
All of the dodging and stomping is done under time warps haste.
I received one from my home instance last night too. Though one, when blades require how many to make????
Party up, right click party member’s icon of the map you wish to join, hit join in blah..blah..blah.. If the map if full, the map is full.
There’s simply technical boundaries that still exists. At least overflows allow for scaling and are much more efficient at using server resources.
Slightly annoyed after crafting my first set of blades and noticing even the basic ones are soul bound when equipped. Why are they coming up soul bound? I thought all of them but, the Ascended version were to be Account Bound?
In my opinion, everything but the Ascended version should be Account bound. If not then Blade Shards should become tradeable. Because there’s no way possible way to farm enough of them for 17 characters. More alt unfriendliness… smh

As someone with anxiety, it was a good add for me, TY!
The best is watching everyone trying to use projectiles on him.
Wow, think about this….
Long Bow Warrior + Berserker Stance + 4 Signets = Event trolling
Where’s my Dire Armor???
Just roll a warrior.
/thread
Too bad warriors are hit the hardest by this boss. Oh what’s that, all your melee weapons are useless because the bosses can down you in a matter of seconds even as tank build? So sorry. What’s that, only longbow has no conditions on a regular attack? I’m doubly sorry for you.
<—- Ummm, Warrior ask’s “wut?” Had no trouble with GS 100 blades.
Now, I’ve been doing this event on my engi after my initial win and it is quite annoying. Best I can do is run around rezzing and drop healing turret during the reflect phase. Whats really annoying is that I will just about melt myself when the shield pop’s back up at the end of the condi phase. If not for Elixer C, I’d be dead without question.
I think this mechanic was to get people to pay attention to skill choices. Just like the Aether boss reflects projectiles.

Firstly, going into L.A. again and again is farming. No matter if you are saving citizen’s, doing events, running heirlooms, or just sight seeing/afk.
It’s fairly simple to see why the animosity toward farming events has increased. In L.A. farmers are, by the design of the zone, a wall that blocks 1200 from occurring. You simply can’t have too many saving citizens for 1200 not to occur. But, you can have too many farming that will prevent 1200 from occurring. That is a serious design flaw imho. The other large issue is all of the rewards from saving is given to everyone else on map. If a global reward is to be given, all rewards need to be global. A global reward is an either or proposition. This mixed approach leads to a lot of bad feelings.
OT: A larger concern is that I have a deep suspicion that a percentage of the developers design with the intent to cause this bad blood between players. To troll us as hard as they can without being completely overt about it. As if it’s a design philosophy that if we’re malcontent, we’ll buy gems to make ourselves happy.
What is the minimum level to start in LA?

I went in with a lvl 5 Staff Guard to farm
The individuals whom run such roaming builds are usually playing to grieve by nature. They would have whichever build puts the highest numbers on the screen.
What’s interesting is that Anet chose to reward and empower roamers by creating Fortitude and Leech. Yet, World/Group players would more than likely put their first 100 or so ranks into functional/utility bonuses. Putting world players and especially defenders/builders at a disadvantage when running to camps or trying to regroup, etc. It simply pushes the wedge between the play styles further.
My biggest issue is still how alt and new player unfriendly WvW has become. WvW was supposed to be a balanced area with level scaling. These character empowerment’s created a huge disparity between old and new characters. Take a twink in and see what kind of damage you can do compared to what fully ascended and ranked characters can do. There’s no contest or challenge between them.
Let’s not forget that Traders would just buy more shell accounts with 4 extra bank guilds instead of paying a premium tax rate. Even my idea of lowering trading volume per account would just motivate traders to buy more accounts. But, more accounts are at least generating income for Anet. Buying gems with gold off the TP doesn’t support the game in the long run.
For cornering markets, I think we’re getting close to this becoming a possibility. That’s why I firmly believe there should never be one shot items. Everything should be available to drop on no more than a 6 month rotation. Annually is a bit long in between for low volume items.
My pics would be the Bifrost, Zenith, and Kasmeer’s. I like clean, crisp, and lively!
I don’t really understand why anyone would do something they don’t enjoy in a game. It boggles the mind, or, at least, it boggles mine.
Because the developers gate things and attempt to modify behavior patterns.
Anyway, 2 years for a Legendary is too long! See, I like having alts. This games grind is alt unfriendly since items are soul bound. Then we can begin talking about Laurels and time gating too. Thus, 2 years x 17 characters = too kittening long!
btw.. that’s 2 years with playing everyday for how many hours??? Reality does come calling for a lot of us. I’d like more reasonable time frames.
Still, it boils down to the volume at which one can purchase is way too high. Trading volume per account should be reduced drastically. There’s never been a requirement in game that requires such volumes as one can purchase on the TP with a few clicks, in under a minute. If trading actually began to require a large volume of time, flipping and subsequent manipulation would be lessened. Hey, farming mats in zones get nerfed all the time. It’s not like Anet doesn’t discourage generating wealth in some area’s.
And yes, for the one person whom mentioned it, I’d rather deal with an NPC. Because I’d much rather sacrifice some gold than make a few whales richer. Which is a problem with the TP, the anonymity. Just like in the real world, I’d like to choose whom I do business with.
Hope so… gives me an excuse to kill him
Yes, burst builds with Macro are a meta. Not really new, just more powerful due to power creep. Adding Ascended gear and Applied Strength boosted burst builds a bit too high. The dev’s know it that’s why the crit nerf is incoming.
^Ding..Ding..Ding.. hahaha…. yes, I have several 21’s for Silver Doubloon hunting. Even at the pace I’m going it’ll take til late summer before I have enough for Juggernaut. These especially are the ones I’d like to lock into there levels. They were camped at each LA JP and I’d portal people everyday. Now that LA is gone I’ve been moving them around and they are gaining XP which doesn’t make me very happy to see. Not only the 21’s though, my lvl 55’s for mid level mats like linen etc.
Taking an 80 around zones still cost more to way point than a lower level. An 80 cost a lot of gold comparatively to gear and repair. Also, 80’s will get higher level loot as well. Thus diluting the opportunity to receive the correct level loot I’m seeking. At this point, I have a couple of disposable characters that gain too much XP and get rerolled. I’d just rather not do that, again and again and again and again.
For the character slot reply, I do understand that as I have 17 characters already. It’s getting out of hand!
this is a perfect example of “i wana hurt the people who dont play like me” OP is an ignorant person
No, fairness is not ignorance. Try harder.
They could simply limit the stack volume, increase the taxation rate, add a decay rate to materials, and remove the API to balance out the Trading volume and speculation. Once players have to manually search the TP, it’ll make flipping at least a bit more time consuming.
Suffice it to say, a lot of players have issues with traders due to basic fairness and equality. It’s sad that babies and young children have a better sense of equality than we, as adults have. Most would simply like the gold generation/accumulation to be equal amongst the various play styles in game. As it’s been since launch, the TP isn’t balanced at all. I have no doubt that any thoughts of it being regulated would be met by traders expressing, “but, my special!”.
Of course, if players had any self control and self regulation, such contrived mechanisms wouldn’t be required at all.
Edit – New game. Each time JS say something awesome, we need to buy Gems.
With real currency, right?
It’s why I believe a decay mechanic should be implemented. Where an item would loose it’s crafting potency and require more to create with. This would lessen hording/speculating over time.
Since it was mentioned on page one, this is my lifetime TP usage, 9212 items bought / 1478 items sold. That’s considering it’s for thousands of hours played. Most of the purchases are for boosting Magic Find. I believe most players whom are not traders would have similar numbers.
Of my two accounts artificer is the only one I have left. In fact I just went to 483 yesterday on one account. Firstly, what you want to do is gather during the week and craft only on Thursday/Friday because of the world bonuses from WvW. Next, is to use a crafting booster. That’s about 65-70% on critical crafting bonus.
For the crafting itself, it’s pretty simplistic. Craft 5 of each base weapon component for Focus, Scepter, Staff, and Trident. Then either buy or craft 20 inscriptions of 4 various stat types. If you have the mats, might as well use them instead of buying them all.
This is just for example but, you’d discover a Zerker Focus, Zerker Scepter, Zerker Staff,
Zerker Trident. Then you’d continue with the next stat type, so on and so forth until you hit 500. Once you hit 450 though, use up any Obsidian and Ectoplasm refinements. You’d be surprised how many times I’ve ended up at level 499.66. Only to have to craft another to top it off.
Except for Jeweler and Chef, that’s how most of the craft’s work.
Of course, dodging only works twice then you WILL take damage until it recharges. I wish they created more mitigation reflect skills instead of the frenetic Mexican Jumping Bean dodge mechanic.
#NoHoBo2014……
And… what if you aren’t a part of THAT guild? No supply for you then????
This concept OP needs a lot of refinement.
1. Unlocked all Armor’s into open skins without classification.
2. Farmville style growing and building in an Home instance. Proceeds/mats could be used to rebuild LA or build up a new zone?
3. More slider based character customization (Sims) so we can really go wild.
4. Mounts
5. Profession additions. I want to build a Warrior Ele or War Guard, etc.
