Can I just just say to the OP, YOUR mistake was assuming everyone is of the same opinion. If a villain is good, there shouldn’t have been any breadcrumbs left behind. I’d much rather be surprised then looking back to how it all played out.
I never run veil just because now…..
Josh, can you just make a loop of you saying “PTV” and let it roll for an hour straight?
IT’S PTV…. PTV…. PTV….. PTV…..
Just one of those things that irks the heck out of me when people say it out of order
Oh and Conditions are already REALLY strong in WvW and PVP. Please don’t listen to the complainers who just want more and more. I think the entire balance of dmg vs defense is what needs tweaking. Damage multipliers are too high and it creates the scaling issues.
The first should be adding Armor weight to the search. Could be easy since it’s already a category. Would make life SO much easier……
They should create a trading license for each account. If you abuse it, you lose it. Simple as that. That includes monitoring transaction frequency to remove bots!
Desert Rose skin and the dragon wings are “Top Demanded Items” too now….????…. Sure they are…. Can a Dev seriously get on this abuse issue. This is making a mockery out of the TP.
Put it this way, I’ll trade outside of the TP if it’s going to be nothing but, a sink whole of abuse.
I believe more people in Guild Wars 2 actually play what they want, rather than min-max…but the min-maxers as a unified group are far more visible.
See… that’s what the talk over Zerker is right now, we aren’t. It’s min-max all the way in PvE. Thus, there is only one role really.
Sick of dodging actually. It’s kind of a cop out mechanic to me. Don’t need more added to it.
Active defense >> passive defense.
Yes, and that still doesn’t mean a person can’t get sick and bored of it. Btw… it’s one of the reasons for the zerker complaints too.
Flippers have little value. Unless of course, one likes having lower purchasing power. In fact, their actions probably remove more gold from the economy than any other gold sink has.
#Focus! The thread is for discussing the location of these nodes
Sick of dodging actually. It’s kind of a cop out mechanic to me. Don’t need more added to it.
Mother Kitten! If anything these numbers prove that A/B accounts exist. Because I have NEVER seen drop rates like this from mobs. Granted I have half his MF but still, even with boosters I never see rates like these over the several thousand of hours of play. No less, even with that +200% in South sun, I never saw drops like the OP is talking about.
GG
Maybe, just maybe, there was a reason the trinity existed for so long and in so many games? Getting rid of it completely might not have been a good idea for an RPG? Which I find interesting is that Anet is advertising GW2 as an MMO only now. The RPG is even missing on ads now.
No… leave me alone.
Click “b” … enjoy
Just like in the real world, control mechanisms need to be put in place to keep the TP from being abused. OR, at least safety protocols like lock out IP’s after a certain amount of transactions. Should be easy to quantify whats a real human clicking compared to a bot.
Considering how starved we are for good looking Armor choices, Anet either has to let go of Cultural armor lockouts or start making more fast. To me, it was a mistake to even create cultural armor locks. That’s like NYC banning the sale of “I <3 NY” T-shirts to anyone other than residents. Good luck having that ever make logical sense…..
Zinrae!!!!!! I can’t believe I never knew that about the guild Registrar. Great tip! Now I don’t have to load down my character inventory any more for reset.

So, when I first bought this I was happy to finally get to add a little something toward housing. To be honest, I really want Sims level of customization when it comes to housing. But, since that’s not available and we’re stuck with whatever the dev’s decide, I’d hope they’d at least put a little common sense into the decision.
to take it even further, that stair case should be a semi circle to free up the traffic pattern and allow people to enter and walk right up stairs.
(Let me add, I know these are game designers and not architects but, I’m not one either and know better
to continue, they have a great wide open area that can easily hold 60 nodes! It can hold 4 rows of 15 nodes across right upstairs. You actually have to run past it to get the other nodes now.
I’ve run around and checked all the other home instances and they are all rather poorly placed. Heck, for gems store items and maybe future ones, they could at least redesign the home instances to accommodate them better.
For Hoelbrak, yes it make NO sense at all other than to make us jump thru hoops. Which is what flames my kitten the most. Here’s a screen shot of plenty of space for 8 more nodes beside the Candy Corn and 6 more along the front wall.
maybe the other “nodes to come” will fill the gaps between. If you figure there’s at least 6 more going in.
No…. I went to the other cities to check out the home instances. There’s a much larger gap between nodes than just spacing for future ones. For Hoelbrak, which I call my home instance and use daily, it’s bizarre. I’ll post a screen cap to show the available space next to the Candy Corn node. There’s room for 8 more nodes and there’s only of total of 7 different ore’s in the game. There’s plenty of room on the front wall adjacent to it for at least 6 nodes too. To put them across on the other side of the room is just for annoyance sake.
I’m having serious buyers remorse on these kitten bleeping kitten bleeps! Less about the nodes and more about where they were placed. As it was mentioned above, in Hoelbrak they are placed furthest from the entrance and the Candy Corn and Quartz node. It’s like someone on the design team SPECIFICALLY wanted to make it NOT that convenient. More than likely someone said during the design phase, “Well, we have to make them work for it.” Well I’ve got a lot of opinion for them and THAT! Grrrrrr…… an 800 gem annoyance is what these are.
GG… plenty of easier and more localized node in zones than the ones we actually paid for.
ps… yes, they give 75% of the daily.
Even though it’s a complete waste of money, I happily purchased the Ore Node Pack because of it’s sheer convenience. Also, because I’ve been asking for a year to have more and more of a housing type of gameplay. So, I put my money where my mouth is and purchased the node pack. BUT, these ore nodes in Hoelbrak are just ridiculously placed. Who the heck did this??
What logical person placed these things, honestly?
Get them all lined up along the outer East wall where the candy corn node is please.
Especially that Krait Obelisk Shard EYE SORE! Right in the middle of the floor, who does that???
This is really a repeated desk palm moment….
Reads more like people are bored with their real life and expecting WAY too much from a video game. Get out of the house and get some sun! Come back to the game if you feel like it. This isn’t a replacement for real life enjoyment and passion.
TY….. I’m completely on the same page with you.
For the question, “why would people want to be dedicated healers?”
….. Because it’s called ROLE PLAYING!
:)
What is even the zerker issue, that many use it? Is that really a problem? I for one don’t give a rats kitten what you run. I just care about what I like to run. Does build diversity even matter in having fun? Especially while in PvE??? I don’t think the mobs care…
I’m going to take this convo into a different realm. Because, this is really less about gear and more about the question, “What is fun?”
For me, fun does not come from challenge. The emotional response to challenge and stress is different from fun. And, I don’t want to experience a stress response too often each day. That is simply not healthy by any scientifically quantified means. If every enemy encounter in PvE became stressful as a “fix” for zerker, then kitten this game is over.
To cut to the chase, we need more to do than killing. You want to solve Zerker issues, how about not focusing on and basing the entirety of this game around killing. There’s more to life and existence than that. The biggest problem lies in everyone being up each others kitten instead of just playing the game for fun!
As I mentioned, one of the biggest design flaws in the game is the lack of user customization. They’ll never be one, end all be all, cookie cutter design. That’s why having some selectable variables would be greatly appreciated.
I’d have to say, I’m disappointed by the drop rate of scraps. I’ve been key farming this week and the drop rate is about 1-7 or 1-8 for me. At 2 to almost 3 keys an hour, the required 25+ hr investment is absurdly long for the gold value of these skins on the tp. Not to forget to mention that key farming is mind numbingly boring! Once in a while, it’s ok though.
Last month I spent $125 or $150 on gems. I don’t mind supporting the game and have spent far more over the past year. I’ll never use gems for keys though. Made that mistake and learned my lesson during Dragon Bash.
I really wish the Dev’s would ease up on the grinding and cost of the game. At least if I felt like I was wealthy and/or actually getting ahead, I would be happier. Keeping up is becoming draining to say the least.
Yes, that is bad form on the other players part OP. For one thing, no one should be personally referred to as useless. Always, and I mean always, the discussion should be about the character and build. To be honest, even the worst player is a better meat shield, than having no meat shield at all, right?
I only do Hot Join occasionally. When I do, I tend to enjoy a little bit of banter. Especially if someone is running a cheesy meta build and boasting or the opposition stacks the entire match, etc. Oh and then thieves, since… well… thieves deserve all the ribbing they get since they are the golden child of the game.
I say NO! It would really diminish the Mesmer as a profession. And thieves, thieves should not get a darn thing except maybe a nerf! #GoldenChild
As a full height Norn, I completely endorse this proposal It would be too challenging for the dev’s I guess but, how about user selectable scaling? Or maybe even just a tickable S,M,L variable?
Though these still cost WAY too much. I’d rather have just a skin version that’s cheaper.
^Don’t worry Durban, the discussion isn’t about running the Temples. And, I’ll be stunned and amazed if I ever see ML or CS going to overflow
Awww….. OP, you have to give them a chance! I have 16 characters of all types and professions. I have 3 human sister’s that all look alike with only a variation with their hair. Yet, they are all different enough to make them unique and enjoyable. It’s a character still, give them meaning and role play a bit.
Warrior was my first and still is my “go to” when in need of a heavy. My play style is a bit slower, more methodical, and supportive. Which leads me to enjoy running a Mesmer a lot too. <shouts>Portal anyone??
I find the professions to be no more or less difficult intellectually. Bouncing around all the professions can get a bit disorienting certainly until you get into the groove again. Though, with my hands, I have to admit the f1-4 are troublesome. Even on my Naga, rocking my thumb for 7-12 can be irksome to painful (literally). That’s why I prefer a bit more passives and will accept the shortfall’s that come with them. Even on my Mesmer, I’m running a Phantasm build over a shatter build.
For players who go straight for noob, L2P, etc… there’s more than “skillz” involved in creating ones overall performance. There’s a tech hurdle that can compromise ones capacity to perform. Then there’s technology and programming that aides greatly. (which shouldn’t be used!) Then there’s simple age and physical limitations. This is a game for everyone so, let’s keep it open!
I’m all for new professions though. How about another “Death Dealer” type class but call it a Valkyrie. I’m not thrilled with Necro’s but, like a profession dealing with life force. Then a good healer/monk please??? One that uses a staff like Bo Staff melee weapon with some magic!
btw…. Snowball Mayhem is the best PvP in the game. If you are bored, play that, as it’s only available for another week.
I’ll have to agree with Anet dropping the ball by requiring low level mats in Ascended recipes. Any new players this year are getting screwed royally. Imagine having to monetarily compete directly with establish gamers whom have 4-5 lvl 80’s, multiple accounts, and running in large guilds. That first month of trying to level up a character and get gear will be painful. Then gathering the mat’s to do the basic 1-400 in crating, yikes! That’s why farming mat’s is needed in the game to keep prices from skyrocketing.
For farming, this is a social game where decency and manners should exist. If you happen to come across 20+ players doing something and try to subvert them, you’d be in the wrong. It’s the same with the champ trains. Here you have a high volume of players doing an activity. Then comes along that one person fully intent on spoiling it for them. That’s bad behavior on the individuals part! Especially when the only excuse given is they are trying to corner the market on that particular type of champ bag for it’s reward. That’s just being selfish, greedy, envious, and antisocial. We have two in particular that come to our server and do this for hours each day. Then taunt in map chat that they are from a rival WvW server no less. In contrast, at least the farmers are open, friendly, and social. Anyone can join them at any time. Commanders pin up to keep everyone organized and moving well. The Commander or Guilds drop banners, boosts, and merchants for everyone to share in. That’s the type of behavior this game should encourage.
So next time you want to complain about a large portion of players becoming agitated, maybe you should realized it’s probably warranted! They may have been harassed for hours before you wandered into the zone.
Maybe it’s just me but, I’ve always felt combat was too short in duration and frenetic. Not just by a little but, way too short and frenetic. I’m thinking animations speed should be decreased by 25% and damage multipliers reduced by the same. Now, it may sound like a lot but, with the duration clocking below a second for most skills, adding 25% isn’t much. This is not touching cool downs, just the actual time is takes to swing a sword or shoot a bow, etc.
For damage reduction, it really needs to come down to give pvp a sense of a brawl taking place. In WvW and sPvP, how long does it take to burst down a character, 3-4 seconds if that? What fun and skill is it really when most are just full glass on a fixed rotation? When you can macro an attack and win, it’s just not that much fun.
In contrast to the combat being too fast paced, running / terrain speed is too darn slow. Play as a full height Norn without any speed boost’s and you’ll either want to punch the screen or fall asleep. Moving is really just that slow. Traveler Runes wouldn’t be so expensive if the demand for a speed increase wasn’t there.
So I’m asking the dev’s, if your game was an old LP, slow and mello it down a bit in combat. Like the voice on the record, combat will get a little deeper. Meanwhile, spin that baby UP for traveling speed. We need a little more pep in our step.
Anyone else have an opinion on the topic?
My reaction to this is to ask, what is the goal? Is it to put Warriors back into the bad spot they were last year? I don’t see Warriors face rolling matches left and right. If anything HS needs to have a buff to it’s scaling with healing power. Make putting points into healing useful!
We are trying to take steps to address some of the dominance of Berserker/DPS players. More info next week, I think.
Jon
Playing since launch and never went full reta*** uh… Zerker. Though finally, after all this time, finally…. broke down and going for Ascended Zerker gear. NOW you are going to change it up???? Oy vie….

GG
;)
^Yes, who’s with us in joining the GW2 Matrix?
…. Anyone… hello…. no one??
;)
Simplest solution would be to stop dividing the planet in half and creating this vacuum, of players. Servers should be unified and no more NA/EU. Night capping solved.
I’ll go back several times to figure out what the persons build and tactics are. After a few attempts then I know my build just isn’t enough and call for help. Unfortunately, if someone is in a “FotM” roaming build, with full ascended gear and stacks, it’s highly unlikely you’ll to take them out. The advantages from power creep has been taken too high now.
No more seasons! Half the problem with WvW is that it’s based upon long term grinding goals. Most players don’t even or stopped playing WvW because of the “why bother” aspect. Goals of WvW need to be short term and high turnover fun.
Lag…????…. I have to admit, I haven’t really experienced any even in full LR battles for a couple of months. Haven’t been in a huge SM LR battle for a while though and imagine they still lag out.
One of the things I wonder is, if the citadel, keeps, and towers all have these magical gates which are impenetrable to enemy forces, why would they even have wooden gates????
Also, why wouldn’t there be a back door into garrison with one of these magical portals? A hidden or certainly well guarded passage would make sense.
sPvP is a testing playground for most, that’s all. For PvP, Snowball Mayhem is the best PvP in the game. Then WvW is second, not just because of the scale and scope of the battles, it’s because it’s large scale SOCIAL interaction. Without the personalities on Team Speak, I wouldn’t WvW much either.
It actually may surprise the devs but, some people don’t play for the killing, destruction, and adrenaline. This game needs WAY more soul and building! Our characters are nothing but weapons in the game. Before sPvP get’s any more attention from the dev’s, PvE and the living story needs a rethinking.
Here’s a slow clap for your elitism and forum trolling skillz OP. You’re able to take out a zerg build with zerg utilities while they were outside of the zerg and probably on CD. That’s so impressive!!! Were they up levels, while you’re more than likely running in full Ascended gear too?
#GG, go back to standing on a node then.
Got mine too, woot!
Snowflakes are pretty easy to come by once we realize they are coupled to gift sizing. For getting gifts, I used up all my sPvP glory to buy lots of them from the merchant in the mist. Toypoc and Bell choir are pretty fast at farming gifts too. We can’t all just buy off the TP. We need to generate supply to even have some to sell
Totally agree! The streamlining of skills and especially limiting the over abundance of conditions has made this SO much more balanced and fun. Besides the fact that were actually tossing SNOW BALLS at each other!
….This is the way PvP should be…
Yes, this has been a blast! I must have played it for 4 hours last night easily. There are still moments when I’m like, “wth???” too. If and when I find something fishy going on I’ll make it known. If it continues, I’ll just started calling target on the player and give them a good beat down. They’ll leave the match soon enough. Problem solved!
