Lag is an obvious complaint in T1. Though it should be shared equally amongst the 3 servers involved. The only time I get really frustrated with lag is when the other side appears to be having no issues while I can’t get a single skill off.
Anet, please do your best to make certain Lag is shared mutually.
You know, when I first read the OP, my thought was that the person who wrote ‘LOCAL’ in map chat was actually answering the OP’s question about guesting, and declaring he was a ‘local’, rather than a guest.
If that was all he said, why did you assume he was telling you to chat in /say? Seems more likely, to me, that he was answering you. I guess my advice would be: Don’t assume the worst! Good luck.
I read it the same way. That the individual replaying with “LOCAL” was actually pridefully expressing that he/she was a “local” from SoR.
Talk in chat all you wish OP! Don’t let anyone quiet you.
After leveling so many characters, I’d like a level lock or experience lock to keep my other alt characters at certain levels. Even just a food or utility that puts a debuff that doesn’t allow a character to receive experience.
Mostly, an XP lock is for cost savings and preferred loot selection. Since particular loot in game is locked to specific character levels. With our aging character population, the available volume of lower level materials will begin to dwindle.
Also, this request is simply because gearing lower level characters is much cheaper. Trying new builds and designs are easier on low level alts.
… just a thought!
If the game provided training in large scale battles, it would change the players’ attitude.
We learn by doing. Which means more large scale living story events are required. And, the patience to allow people to express themselves until they get it.
I call it “the Ultimate Chump Bag” for obvious reasons. The first week I was all for 1200 too. Then after a dozen or so of these “chump” bags worth about 50-65s, I said forget this kitten!
First you always have to assume players are full of kitten Three days to that person might have equaled playing for 16 hrs per day! So remember it’s all relative really. To maximize your XP gain use an XP booster, then a Guild Banner, Guild XP boost, then don’t forget foods. The ones using candy corn give +15%. After all that don’t forget to use the “Found Belongings” to buy Tomes of Knowledge. Which are worth one level each.
The main argument against Zerg’s isn’t about being organized, the argument is about large scale vs small scale. There are players whom simply do not like playing with others and they’ll complain on the forums when events attract a large number of players.
There is too much money in the economy. Gold sink.
/thread
This will be a bit off topic to the OP but, no… there’s absolutely not too much gold in game. For regular players whom PvE the zones, there isn’t a lot of gold. Just like in the real world, the problem is a small percentage appears to have the lions share of gold. Because the reward system has been too generous to certain activities only. The same flaws in the U.S. economy are being recreated in game. Where’s John Smith with Census like data for us?
For Rewards, I’d like to see a new one that take time but, without risk. I’d also like to see things to build or grow in cities. Tyria would become a dead wasteland the way we behave in game.
Headache after farming in LA under attack

Keep an eye on your frame rate as you might be getting a slight strobing effect occurring. Also noticing you said, “a few runs”. Please, in between runs go look outside a window and walk about for a little while. You are more than likely too stressed and focused for too long.
Oh… and this should be an /thread. It’s become WAY off the mark now.
ANY content that polarizes the player base in such a negative fashion is flawed and should be removed. It’s like our Mom’s used to say, “If you can’t play nice, then don’t play at all.”
When I read a Dev kicked a group of people from one specific instance I knew automatically it was not the right thing to do. There has to be advanced warning and policy for it. Also, nothing should be retroactive on the matter. Fore none of us have a crystal ball that could see the future!
What’s interesting is the reversal of selfishness in this discussion. Because the loudest voices against AFK’ers are probably the most selfish. For me, I’m simply going to do what I want to do in LA from now on. I’m not even going to bother encourage players in chat to save civilians. I’m going to keep the chat box minimized because reading all the constant complaints and hostility isn’t healthy.
As I said above, this content should be removed quickly.
I’m looking at previous recipes and noticed several missing. One in particular is the Dragon’s Revelry Starcake. It was only in the Rich Dragon Coffer’s. So having regular Dragon Coffer’s drop isn’t bringing them back. Also, they were account bound and extremely rare from the Rich Coffer’s. I know I bought them to no avail.
Please bring back more recipes!!!!
Caro, it’s why I’ve been saying for over a year, they should removed the weight classes from appearance items. Or, just make it transmutable between classes. So many armors already exists that would make us happy players but, are gated.
Zergling with high magic find can easily get 150+ bags per hour AND all rewards from civilian save counter.
AND……… that right there is the problem, in a nutshell. This whole event is a leechers paradise. No matter how you slice it, we’re all leechers. Those whom AFK get rewarded by rescuer’s as equally as bag farmers get rewarded. This whole LA event has become a complete mess real quick.
Event’s like this need tokens to earn, period. No mixed signals, no multiple objectives, no RNG, none of it works well for building a community.
For which bags are best, I just opened 153 Alliance bags and it had the equivalent of 50-60s. They really aren’t worth that much for gold.
I’m all for it! At least give us something for all those civilians and the subsequent headaches dealing with farmers. Because those RNG boxes probably aren’t going to give us much in the end.
Found Heirlooms - Is there enough time?

I have the route down pretty well now. I used Dulfy’s list but, modified it heavily to be a counter clockwise rotation. I ran all 40 in about 22 minutes before. I have a level 80 and 10 Guardian which aren’t the speediest classes. I’ll try it on my Warrior tomorrow. That first day though I spent several hours searching for them too.
You also get heirlooms from saving civilians. I Just purchased my halo a few hours ago. I don’t see an issue (for me) with getting both if one chooses too. It all comes down to the map your on. Good players will be saving civilians and getting those bags with heirlooms in it. Other players will be zerging the events and running right past the civilians.

How about everything should be available at all times? Instead of poisoning the player base with this lottery system of RNG and limited Editions, make things open. All Anet will end up doing is polarizing the player base and creating resentment between them. Furthermore, what incentive is it for new players to come into the game? I wouldn’t recommend the game now. Upward mobility is extremely limited to RNG.
same here… been farming this LS like a freak all week, also rescuing like a crazy person. Opened tonight 5 ultimate bags and probably 70 of the rescuing bags. I can only guess well over 500 alliance bags. Nothing but greens, 6 yellows, and a couple of 5-8s recipes. If I made 8-10g all week, it would be a generous estimate. Can’t express how ticked off the RNG get’s me.

Thank you from me too! 1200 seems to be the right number for this. I believe 1500 would be doable once the achievements were completed. Tonight we hit 1200 on several overflows and main map. Though just now, we had about 900. Only because we had 3 pins doing the events only.
I’m finding out it’s better to not even try to kill in some situations. Kind of like the Dolyak and Moa events. Just give as many boons as possible, then aggro the mobs. I was soloing the North to East path around the Durmand Dig Site this past cycle. Just push, pull, interrupt, and aggro until they leashed. Also, waited for them to move away while the enemy is on their patrol then rezzed and encouraged the civilians.
instead of being a leech in PVT gear spamming 1 and 4 on staff.
Meanwhile, while running around LA, I don’t see Guardian’kittenting Empower at all. I seem to be the only one in the area. I’m having to type out for fire fields to blast. I’m in a Zerker blend, even have a level 10 Zerker twink I ran in LA without much of an issue.
Har…har…har… Yeah, I figured there was going to be the T1 jokes abound. Though with my level of experience, I’m well aware of what’s normal lag and what’s abnormal lag. This was quite abnormal lag at reset.
It seems to have settled down a bit. Though something for the Dev’s to be aware of at least.
Which servers are experiencing skill lag? On TC BL (Red BL) and it’s about a 2-4 second skill lag minimum. Haven’t experienced lag like this in a long time. This is an FYI to the Dev’s too.

^ I think that’s exactly it Minos. Whomever is coming up with the sinks in the economy must have an aggressive personality. Because they appear to be winning in the Anet offices There’s no way casual players make enough gold to keep up with this economy. We need a Dev counter this person to give us a freak’n break!
I have absolutely no issues with the appearance of this armor. We need far more choices in this game. At least these are clean, crisp, and bright artistically. If I would have a complaint, it would be over the new back piece. Seriously, more odd steam punk? Like there isn’t enough already???
More armor with more style choices are the way to go. We need far more choices in this game. I find myself shackled by the narrow themes in game. One look for my heavies, then 2 for medium and light. Though having new armor only in the gem store isn’t very nice. These are still cost prohibitive to those of us with alts. There’s no way I can afford to put this on 16 characters.
My thing is, it’s terribly alt unfriendly. I’d much rather pay 1000 gems to have this armor be like Zenith skins. There’s just no way I can afford this on all my alts. Nor would I want to run this 24/7/365. So I might just get a set on put them on Blues so it’s account bound. Have I mentioned it’s just incredibly cost prohibitive??? I buy gem with cash so, two accounts worth of this armor would be pricey
I like the update. Though my time is getting short so… I’ll just blast out my thoughts. The problems lie in a lack of explanation from Anet and the achievements are opposing the theme of saving people.
Large events need parameters to be given out. How is anyone going to organize 150 players to experiment on each event to see how they scale???? That’s just unreasonable to completely unrealistic. Especially when we’re tossed about is so many different overflows. Anet should give us some parameters to work with. The Wurm event should have taught the developers that. Heck, we still require 3rd party services to even do content like that.
The achievements are all based on the events, none of which are saving civilians. The two “succeed in every event” just promotes players to go afk and stand for the 45 minutes. Since there isn’t a clear indication of when those events will pop. Also, the events are short lived and most of the way points aren’t functioning. So it’s easy to be too far away to get there in time to complete the event.
If people were aware that it would be more profitable to save civilians, that’s what they would do. Also, as was posted above, it’s questionable if it even is. Running solo isn’t that easy either. That 3 man patrol can easily down you. Especially when they have the trolly laser helping them.
Anyway, like the update and would like it even more if we hit 1500.

We all know that Selfless Asura don’t exist. The fact that Asura can use it is a bug.
Hotfix inc soon
Bwaaahahahahahaa….. I read the first post and quickly scrolled down to poke fun at that too. GJ!
Yeah, though I’ll give people a little leeway as seeing the red circles with such a high volume of mobs is hard at times. I still think it would be great to get people to use control skills more.
GG… PTV and Melandru…????… no wonder the Miasma events are taking so long. My lvl 6 Guardian is actually doing more than you! btw… where’s the food buff’s? Come on cheapskate, you have 410g buy some food and help more! Get some Carrot Souffle on you…. zeesh
At least you’re smart enough to bring in Guardians, I’ll give you that. But, I’d like to see much more control and wall of reflection in there. For the love of God all guardians should be spamming Empower and tactfully using Line of Warding too. It’s not just 111111111… Don’t even give the impression that that is ok.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Missywink, yes the balance between selflessness and selfishness or altruism and narcissism are shifting. Our society is becoming more self centered. Though that’s not to say it’s dominant yet. There are a lot of us playing this game with the intent to help each other.
I looked at that first photo and thought, where are the food buffs???? I get so irked when I see people without food and utility buffs up. That new Scarlet one is insanely cheap and drops regularly. +10% dmg output/input is huge! Add that to a food buff like Carrot Souffle and now we have some DPS going on!
For the gear conversation, I took a lvl 6 Guardian in and ran around LA all night farming. You don’t need PTV or a heavy support build. Those miasma events actually require a good dose of damage output to get them done in time.
Rezzing is actually quite complex and easily misjudged. Safety first should always be the motto. That one should evaluate if they can rezz a person without getting themselves downed in the process? Next question is do I have the time and still finish the objective? Another thought is to kitten if one can kill the downies target to rally them faster than rezzing them? Distance to spawn point needs to factored in as well. Can you rezz or can they run back fastest? Do I have a utility off cooldown to rezz them fast or is it prudent to save it for later? These all all questions to ask oneself. What may appear to be a cold or callus choice may in fact be a tactful one instead.
A safe estimate would be, if you can rezz someone in half the time it takes them to run back, rezz them. It helps the overall event and everyone on map get the job done. If you are a warrior, war banner should be equipped at all times! Not so much as using it on other players, instead using on the NPC’s! Save them all!!!!!
Alfador, lore wise recovering heirlooms isn’t selfish. Also, there are a lot of us whom would rather like to see a 1500 on the civilians, instead everyone is focused on event farming.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
FlamingFox, as the other poster’s knew, I was referring to Transformation Tonics. When the transform ends, you get a debuff timer called “Recently Transformed”. And yes, it’s a whole 30 minutes long! So say you run into LA, as I did tonight, and transform yourself. I lasted all of a couple of minute before I was downed at the bank event. I see no earthly reason why I shouldn’t have been able to click on the endless tonic again when I got back up.
Funny enough, I wasn’t the only person with the tonic last night in LA. I’m guessing quite a few of us are finding out how annoying this timer is. Pretty much makes the tonic completely useless.
atm… the laser’s just affect the players and friendly NPC’s, not the enemies. The whole Friend or Foe system on a laser beam is a bit trolly don’t you think? Wouldn’t it have been more skillful and interesting if the laser’s affected everyone. This way push, pulls, and knock backs, could be used to help defeat the enemy? I think it would have been much more dynamic and interesting than the implementation we have now.
Just a suggestion for the future.
not a thousands of commanders…
with a map cap of 150….. hmmm. Also, if a commander tag is blocking party member dots, it’s because you’re all stacked on top of him! The party is right around you….
Meh… if it was a bug or an oversight, it’s Anet’s fault. Good on you for getting them!
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
On what reasoning does this exist? I thought this timer was removed. Especially now when it’s a thematic and interesting lore wise to run into LA transformed by the Infinite Watchknight Tonic. As if Queen Jennah ordered the Lion Guard to reprogram all the remaining DR Watchknights. Yet, as we all know, getting downed in LA is an often occurrence. Thus making this tonic and idea utterly useless.
The question is, why???? What possible reason is there to this. It’s like you come up with something fun to do and instantly the Dev’s stop it. Might as well have it like “the Family Feud” with a big red X and a buzzer going off.
Seriously, how about we remove this Grinch inspired timer, huh?
GG, who necro’d this topic??? The picks are fine! The advantages from sprockets are minimal. The pic will keep a large supply of sprockets floating around the market which will keep prices at rock bottom. Benefiting everyone in game and especially those whom do not have a node in their home instance. So, from another point of view, I paid real money so others can get benefits too. Otherwise, if not for the chance of getting sprockets, I would have kept buying Ori tools with karma.
For the Pay to Win argument, why not for gathering??? Spending time gathering in this game is the slowest path to obtaining gold. I’m much more concerned about the (game)Play to Win in this game. Where playing the market is WAY too beneficial. Why aren’t there aging/decay timers to stop hording and endless flipping? Where running dungeon paths are WAY too lucrative. Why are instance runners treated better???? Why is running around the zones doing hearts and gathering treated so poorly? Gathering is more than likely not even keeping up with the CPI/inflation rate. Thus, a little something to encourage players to gather is good thing. Even though gatherer’s and crafter’s won’t have the in game gold to convert to gems. So, they’ll have to spend real money on gems. Which, if not painfully obvious, is needed to keep the game running!
btw… all rhetorical questions.

Heal O Tron to the rescue! (speculations)

Heal o Tron will become Optimus Tron and sacrifice himself to help the heroes kill off Scarlet. His unlocking the Matrix of Rata Sum will light our darkest hour.
+1 for the “Transformers: The Movie” reference
Though I fixed this for ya!
Then Optimus Tron backpacks will be available in the Gem Shop later, as a way of Evon honoring exploiting his actions.

Evon = Batman
Hobo-tron = RobinThe new Dynamic Duo!
Pfft…. more like Heal O Tron, while trying to do a good deed to redeem himself, is going to be used by Evon. Since, as we all well know, Evon is a psychopath! He’ll more than likely rig poor Heal O Tron’s energy amplifier to overload and explode by remote control. And, after Heal O Tron’s valiant efforts to save Tyrians, he’ll more than likely be thanked by the Captains Council. Which is when Evon will detonate poor Heal O Tron in an attempt to take out the Council and place the blame on Scarlet.
Evon = psychopath villian. Like all whom become consumed by personal wealth and power.
Well, Jumping Puzzles are for jumping
I hear you as I created 3 Angelic Mesmer sisters over Wintersday to portal people to the JP’s at reset each day. They all were safe and sound on the first day. But, the new update shows everyone the intro and then kicks them to Gendarran Fields. Which I completely understand because it’s a hot zone to be sure and not everyone is ready for it when logging in.
You can still do the JP’s in LA. Though be careful about Troll JP as you will get literally trolled by the laser. As soon as you jump over to the chest the laser starts up and then knock you clear off the rock formation. Maybe it’s an oversight but, the laser should not be hitting the JP area if you ask me. Hint dev’s please fix the laser. Nothing worse than doing the JP only to get knocked off.
Also, once 49 minutes after the hour hits you’ll get booted out of LA too. No matter where you are in LA so don’t sit around.
Scarlet’s chest, proof of the power of science and technology
Meanwhile, as Gnashblade stands around whining like a spoiled cub in the Vigil keep, Kiel armors up and grabs an airship to reenter LA. Lucky for us, she’s in the nick of time to save Magnus and anyone else they can carry about the airship.
That is a true hero and leader for the people of Tyria!
:)
Meanwhile Kiel is forcing Evon to relinquish all of his stock or face execution by firing squad.
Speaking of slander, where is this in game, Hmmm???? This thread stinks of Evon supporters, including the OP, trying to twist the good name of Kiel!

Zergfest all over town, ppl are doing it for loot and you call this great?
Yes, I believe we DID call large scale open world content GREAT! tyvm
It’s still better to use Leatherworking but, Bolts of Damask should come down in price. Have you noticed the volume of clothes that are within the bags? After all the complaints over the scarcity of cloth in game, I think it finally sunk in
So far I got about the same rate of cloth drops as farming dungeons and temples. Meaning it would still take about 6-8 hours of straight farming to fill the quota for the daily bolt of damask.
But… how many players run dungeons compared to how many are running LA? They’ll more than likely be a huge surge in cloth in game if people keep running this.
How anyone could even consider questioning Anet’s role in the market astounds me. They severely influence both supply and demand in game. And yes, they constantly are adjusting the market every few months to keep us chasing it. Just like they adjust meta builds to keep us switching them up. It’s to keep the game interesting, sort of
Experiencing the same thing on my Mesmer. Even at range with Greatsword, one sec I’m at 70% health and doing great, next sec I’m downed right out of the blue. Kinda sucks and it’s really a bit trolly of the dev’s (again). Especially as you said OP, it’s chain attacks. Beside the fact that I’m getting hit for almost 11k while in Knights armor! Most are 3-5k which is manageable if I could see it coming.
Due to the cost of gear, there’s no way I’d spend the gold on replacement exotics for my Mesmer. I’d rather switch to my Warrior or and uplevel.

When I see threads like this all I read is;
Desire: to be in a game with a million others and to be special and stand out.
Reality: you are just as special as everyone else and dislike it.
If you want solo content go and buy an additional game. Right now I’m playing the new Final Fantasy XIII-3 for solo content. Then still playing GW2 for it’s large scale content. I never had such expectations that one game platform could be great at everything.

If you enter WvW, your main server BL has a TP, Merchants, Laurel Merchant, and even Crafting Stations. It’s convenient to get there and free to travel.
All your Evon love is one thing, but THIS… this I’d so down vote you for if it was possible. Sure, that’s all WvW needs is everyone standing around the Citadel crafting and not participating.
PLEASE, do not take up the limited WvW map population unless you intend to work! Unless you are on Black Gate, then it’s totally ok
Nice. I hope the person lost a lot of gold. Noone should have that much gold anyway.
I agree to an extent, as running around the zones in PvE, PvP, and WvW, would never produce such high levels of gold. JS caters to traders in the game. There should be an aging/degradation effect placed upon materials and for each transaction they go through. One that would reduce the rewards from hording/flipping.
For the original post, this is exactly why I don’t carry a lot of money on me No more than 10g unless I’m specifically buying something then would I withdraw it.
