Because then Anet would have to give a cut of the full game purchases to Valve, which would hurt the game’s income more than the extra sales from Steam.

Chances are, if there is someone on Steam that wants to play GW2, they will most likely already have it.

that would be nc soft, not anet.
nc soft decides all the money things.
anet works for nc soft.

they can still get 100% revenue for sales on their own website (buy.guildwars2.com)

Shoulders should be available from level1.

you don’t need shoulders, gloves and helmets for full defense.

chest, pants and boots are all you need.

I was under the impression that any armor peace that you can not hide provides you the added defense?

I can’t agree with you IMO minor adept for new weapon, new utility, heal, elite skills and new class mechanics is quite good trade.

Remember you don’t exchange your tools thanks to that minor you get more. (DH and Reaper are exceptios and only for class mechanics) Whole buch of toys that you can get axcess only if you take Elite spec. Do you want see only Berserkes exange of Warriors or want more diversity and sometime encounter warrior sometime berserker?

no. because this trait is called “Armored Attack” and not “Toughness Attack” so it should use armor and not toughness.

Why Conquest is boring to watch/play

Lets look at other games.

StarCraft:
Winning condition: Destroy all enemy structures.
Dota/LoL:
Winning condition: Destroy main enemy structure
GW1 GvG:
Winning condition. Kill enemy Guild Lord
WoW Arena:
Winning condition. Kill all enemy players.

GW2:
Winning condition. First to accumulate 500 points win.

Notice the difference between them and GW2? None of them focused on points capture on nodes for points. They do however still have specific locations that contributes to victory. Most importantly, it provides very unique ways in which teams can make a comeback as theres no set victory condition that involves a time-race in which players can attempt to imitate. This is one of the reason why WoW Arena made it in before WoW BG (Arathi Basin: Conquest type for those who never played) and why the BG Alterac Valey was most beloved by community (a GvG almost type of map).

Only way Conquest is acceptable is through shooter. Why? Its much more fast paced (often you die from 1-2 hits). Even then, TF2 and CoD are actually very boring to watch as it is just people shooting at eachother for 10 minutes.

Just visualize how stupid GW2 would sound in MLG.

Shoutcaster: TEAM A IS ABOUT TO CAPTURE NORTHERN NODE. AHHHHH!

Shoutcaster: OHHHH TEAM B IS ABOUT TO STEAL THE WESTERN NODE. OH LOOK AT THAT THIEF BURST DAMAGE.

Winning conditions
To win a battle the winning side has to achieve one of the following conditions:
Accumulate 500 points before the other side.
Holding all 7 control points for 60 consecutive seconds sets the winning team’s point total to 500.

at the moment, we have:

Armored Attack
“Gain power based on your toughness.”
Gain Power Based on a Percentage of Toughness: 10%

at best, in sPvP, we can only get 1000 or 1560 or 1900 or 2200 toughness, which translate into extra 100 or 156 or 190 or 220 power.

therefore, armored attack should be based on the armor value instead, which is a combination of both toughness and defense. and the extra toughness from dolyak signet should be counted for as well!

i propose:

Armored Attack
“Gain power based on your armor.”
Gain Power Based on a Percentage of Armor: 10%

as someone in the warrior forum mentioned, the first minor trait of every elite specialization should offer more!

at the moment, it only gives you access to one new weapon and new set of skills.

guardian: can use long bow and traps
mesmer: can use shield and wells. oh new f5 skill.
elementalist: can use warhorn and shouts? i dun ele i dunno much else sorry!
revenant: i dunno lol.
necro: can use greatsword and shouts. oh new f1 shroud skills.
ranger: can use staff and …. not announced yet.
thief: no idea.
engineer: can use hammer and … dunno.

warrior: can use torch and rage skills. new f2 berserk mode! new burst skills!

anyway, since i’m a warrior player mainly, i will talk about the warrior elite spec first minor trait. but everyone else is encouraged to propose for their favorite profession elite specs too!

lets see now:

Primal Rage
“You can equip torches and use rage skills. Gain access to berserk mode and primal bursts.”

that’s it. nothing more.
well, we should get more, since these are supposed to come free with the new elite spec, not taking up a precious minor trait slot for them.

and so i propose !

so attack skills activate 60% faster for the first 2 seconds upon entering berserk mode?

gun flame base activation time = 1.25 seconds
so if it activates 60% faster, does it mean the activation time is reduced by 60% ?
as in becoming 40% of the original base activation time?
1.25 × 0.40 = 0.5 seconds

so the activation time would become 0.5 seconds instead?
or, it does not work that way?

1.25 seconds base activation time, 10% faster attack speed in berserk mode, so
1.25 × 0.90 = 1.125 seconds activation
then 2 seconds of quickness 50% faster so we get
1.125 × 0.50 = 0.5625

so does the activation time becomes 0.5625 seconds?

it is either 0.50 seconds or 0.5625 seconds
i think.

its like activating skull crack, but with a 1500 range.

I wonder if it is because a lack of options or a matter of stuff conflicting for your condition removal? I mean you have 3 anti condition skills in utility another 3 options in your heal skills and around 3 trait lines with anti condition trait(s). On top of that you have the option to run shout removal through runes.

signet of stamina is nice, the passive is nice, the full cleanse is nice, recharge time of 45 or 36 seconds, not so nice. good if you are trying to escape from a 1v1 or 2v1 after bombed with conditions. in team fights they reapply the conditions immediately and you melt anyway.

berserker stance, 8 or 10 seconds immune to new conditions being applied is nice, but it does not remove current existing conditions. activated at the wrong time, you will still melt due to existing conditions.

shake it off only remove 1 condition every 20 or 25 seconds.
or 2 conditions if rune of the soldier is used along.

cleansing ire was good and well balanced when it was first introduced. then the warrior haters decided to nerf it into the ground. we are forced to take it because we have no other better choice.

quick breathing was nerfed due to warrior haters whining again. given how fast conditions are reapplied, using a shield may be actually better survival option.

only brawlers recovery is very good. hopefully it will stay that way.

shout removal is not an option. you still die to conditions as conditions are very easily reapplied. as well as spiked down from burst damage.

warriors are very easily killed nowadays.
unlike d/d celele.

at the moment, queue times are extremely long, because the match making systems attempts to match players according to a so called MMR rating.

to top that off, players are forced to wait for another 2 minutes when everyone is loaded into the map. more down time for players, forcing players to wait 4 – 5 minutes before a game can even begin.

anyway, if match making is based on league, tiers and pips, i think the queue may actually be faster.

lets look at another example,

in blue team, we have,
john, amber league, tier 2, 2/5 pips,
mary, 2nd league, tier 2, 4/5 pips
jane, 3rd league, tier 4, 3/5 pips
sue, 2nd league, tier 3, 1/5 pips
jess, legendary league, tier 8, 4/5 pips, repeated 1 time

versus

in red team, we have
joe, 2nd league, tier 3, 1/5 pips
maria, 4th league, tier 1, 2/5 pips
jenny, 3rd league, tier 2, 3/5 pips
susan, 2nd league, tier 4, 4/5 pips
jessica, 4th league, tier 4, 3/5 pips

match prediction should predict blue team winning the match, since they have one legendary division player in their team. as simple as that.

anyway, if its too confusing, lets make it simpler to read.

blue
division – current pips / total pips
1 – 7/15
2 – 9/20
3 – 18/25
2 – 11/15
6.1 – 39/40

red
division – current pips / total pips
2 – 11/15
4 – 2/30
3 – 8/25
2 – 19/20
4 – 18/30

I think warrior has already enough anti condition stuff, maybe make the extra effect aoe (allies get only one as a result). The banner one is fine, I suppose.

not really, warriors are forced into certain traits because they will melt in seconds if they do not do so.

if we put powerful synergy along side brawlers recovery, then warriors may have to make a choice.

do i choose to be able to lose one condition every 5 seconds? or
do i choose to be able to leap twice and lose on condition every 8 seconds or even longer.

in case people do not read.

we will have 6 leagues

1. amber (lowest)
2. … something …
3. … something …
4. … something …
5. … something …
6. legendary (highest, repeatable)

from the blog post, we know that amber division have 3 tiers, 5 pips per tier. from the screen shot there, we know that topaz division have 5 tiers, 5 pips per tier.

since there is not much revealed, lets assume that, it is always 5 pips per tier, and higher divisions have more tiers to grind:

1. 3 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 15 pips total
2. 4 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 20 pips total
3. 5 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 25 pips total
4. 6 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 30 pips total
5. 7 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 35 pips total
6. 8 tiers, 5 pips per tier, 40 pips total

note: the above is purely my speculation of how the tiers and pips may be.

if my guess is correct, then the pvp league will be quite grindy, unless your team constantly gets matched up with matches that grant you more pips for winning.

the first division is amber, the starter division, where everyone graduates eventually, because we do not lose pips in the amber division.

in the 2nd and 3rd division, you can lose pips but not tiers, so you will eventually graduate if you avoid lots of lose streaks and get lucky with win streaks.

in the 4th and 5th division, you can’t graduate if you have lose streaks often. you need to have lots of win streaks, and can only afford 1 or 2 loses in between if you wish to graduate.

the 6th division is repeatable, as in, if you graduate it, you can repeat it.

i assume anyone who has read the blog post will understand this, yes?

What does Powerful Synergy really do anyway? The last time that I checked, auras don’t stack in duration… If it qualified blast finishers instead of leap finishers, it might actually be worthwhile.

it doubles leap aura duration.
yeah, it was not working but they fixed it.

so 5 seconds fire shield, frost aura, chaos armor, light aura, etc becomes 10 seconds via a leap through a field instead of the standard 5 seconds.

quite “powerful” in a sense that auras (fire, ice, chaos, light) cannot be removed whatsoever so i think they thought it was worthy of being a grand master trait in that manner so yeah.

as for activating blast finisher twice, i had that discussion in our own warrior forum before and many warriors believed it would be too overpowered and they shot down my proposal rather quickly. i left that old topic be buried.

by the way, brawler’s recovery was first introduced as a useless grand master trait at first, as it only removed blindness on weapon swap, then changed to remove one condition on weapon swap, and finally secured its place as a very useful master trait.

why not just remove MMR completely and matches players accordingly based on their leagues, tiers and pips ?

for example,
in blue team, we have,
john, amber league, tier 3, 4/5 pips,
mary, amber league, tier 2, 0/5 pips
jane, amber league, tier 1, 4/5 pips
sue, amber league, tier 2, 3/5 pips
jess, amber league, tier 3, 1/5 pips
versus

in red team, we have
joe, amber league, tier 1, 0/5 pips
maria, amber league, tier 1, 1/5 pips
jenny, amber league, tier 1, 2/5 pips
susan, amber league, tier 1, 4/5 pips

so, clearly, blue team members won more games than red team, and with that, simply, blue team should have higher chance of winning. simple as that.

say just for easy match making purposes, the system simply predicts blue team to win, so if blue team wins, they earn 1 pips. if red team wins, they earn more than 1 pip perhaps? since red team is predicted to lose. but blue team will not lose pips because amber league is the 1st division where teams do not lose pips for losing matches.

i think this type of match making will cut down queue time.
instead of relying on MMR which is not accurate anyway, and takes a long queue time.

That would be nice, indeed. Never seen anyone taking this trait, because it shares tier with CI.

We should honestly consider some more cleansing alternatives and probably nerf CI to 2 conditions + some effect (2s of regeneration per bar?) with upcoming Primal Bursts from Berserker.

Maybe some bonus small condition removal option to Arms traitline nobody takes or Powerful Synergy trait cleansing 1 condition when you leap?

Healing: 1,000 + (0.1) Healing Power
Rousing Resilience (8s): Gain up to 1,000 toughness based on your level.

please buff it a bit okay?

the revised edition would be:

Rousing Resilience
“Remove a condition, gain toughness and health when you activate a stun break.”
Conditions Removed: 1
Rousing Resilience (8s): Gain up to 1,000 toughness based on your level.
Healing: 1,000 + (1.0) Healing Power

Rousing Resilience (8s): Gain up to 1,000 toughness based on your level.

^ while i appreciate that rousing resilience has received some buffs, it still does not remove conditions and activates open using a stun breaker. furthermore, the healing power multiplier is way too low for a grand master trait.

it should be like this instead:

Rousing Resilience
“Remove conditions, gain toughness and health when you activate a stun break skill.”
Conditions Removed: 2
Rousing Resilience (8s): Gain up to 1,000 toughness based on your level.
Healing: 2,536 + (1.50) Healing Power

0. shield bash 1.3 seconds stun, 450 leap (30/30 adrenal)
1. skull crack 3.9 seconds stun ( 0/30 adrenal)
2. elite skill headbutt 3.9 seconds ( 30/30 adrenal)
3. go berserk, break out of 1 second self stun ( 0/30 adrenal, 10/10 adrenal)
4. skull grinder 1.3 seconds stun ( 0/10 adrenal)
5. swap to greatsword ( 5/10 adrenal)
6. hundred blades ( 10/10 adrenal)
7. arcing sear (0/10 adrenal)

1.3 + 3.9 + 3.9 + 1.3 = 10.4

10.4 seconds stun combo.

i like that.
those who do not carry stun breakers or have stability are gonna cry.

i think after arcing sear, should be able to attack 5 more times, then swap back to mace for another healthy dose of skull grinder.

warrior’s rampage was balanced,
warrior’s rampage is now weak.
warrior’s everything else is weaker.

mesmer is balanced btw.
i’m playing my mesmer now.
keeping my warrior in the closet for the time being.

i dunno how to play d/d celele so i hope they nerf ele good.

they use an elite spec to justify a bad trait

they fixed it.
we get 10 seconds aura (fire, frost, light, chaos etc) with powerful synergy.

still does not justify it being a grandmaster tactics trait.

i think they forgot about dodge when they are creatibg rangwe gw2 traps
