the non customizable mercs we get are:

And I’m very grateful we have some NPC like those fine fellows in our story, but compared to the mercs/hero’s from GW1, unfortunately, it’s not even comparable – it’s also far from the OP’s idea of customizable, fully controlled NPC’s.

I agree 100%; there could be so many uses for the old GW1 Merc/Hero system in GW2.

Like someone else said, I can see a rise in gem store purchases for more slots, armor skins, etc. for the Mercs/Heros. Or a gem store purchase to make your alt. a Hero. 1000 gems for a slot? Take my money!

In GW1 as we progressed through the story those random NPC’s became your Hero that tagged along with you; they had their own background as well – I felt very much connected to some of them. I felt like I needed to take my favorite ones with me in my group and leave the few I didn’t connect with behind. In GW2, I see the more popular NPC’s and I enjoy them… but there’s no connection to my character.

I can see doing a moderately difficult short quest lines to obtain Hero’s from your home city or other racial cities, especially like OP mentioned, warband members.

And the plot thickens…!

I like the idea, but I do think it’s too steep of a price for one aspect of the game.

Like Lilith above mentioned, If it included unlimited (or maybe 5X a month) hair/body change I would surely pay a monthly fee for this.

edit for my response: I usually get around 1g per day (my day is normally 3 hours cut in half), but lately is because i’m just in the pvp side of the game.
you don’t really get too much to sell with the pvp-reward paths.

How often does a tied match happen in sPvP? We were in team queue last night on Foefire and we had 2 points and then enemy had 1 and the score was 490 to 495. over the next 10 seconds no one was killed and the match ticked down to an even match.

By the way, 500-500 gives both teams the win.

I was in a tied match yesterday afternoon, around this time actually. I don’t believe we were in the same match, as 2 players died at the last moments – we were also in the Nifhel map.
We were 500-500 at the exact same second.

So to answer, if it happened to you and I in the same day, I’m going to assume it happens quite often.

It just went back to pre-wardrobe population which was the norm. maybe more players doing spvp than before. I don’t see a big change imo.

Maaan, same thing happened to me in Pavillion. It was extremely frustrating, and like you, I wasn’t saying the same things over, I was also conversing and joking around when it happened.

I hope it won’t require major rework, but you never know with this. I’d love to see Shatterer or any other giant dragon actually turn and walk around… maybe flip it’s tail or some such.

Speaking on my experience as a zerk longbow ranger… in spvp

Longbow 3 fails way too much. A lot of it due to lag. This needs to be changed to 100% chance to stealth.

This alone has cost me countless deaths where I ‘may’ have come out ontop.

As a defensive ability is is completely unreliable for a spec that really should NOT be backpeddling in order to land the stealth.

Got to agree. I love longbow, use it a lot in spvp. but changed it out due to the complete failure of #3. I’ll try and back peddle JUST to land it, and still won’t. lol.

I see it hit the target, and it did damage. but i’m still “oh kitten”

What I have been doing is cycling through the main events (dolyak race and charged crystal) in the bazaar and while countdown timer is up, hit up arena or sprint.
I can do Wabout 3 matches on countdown timer I think.
With silver or above on the events you get 40+ tokens. I don’t remember what I’m getting for the arena or sprint but I’m at 550 in 2-3 hours of very casual play

I’m in the same boat – I got the same ascended loot box a few days ago and have yet to assign to one of my chracters.

By best option is to use for a WvW character – like all have said above, it’s best there. Condi warrior, condi ranger even are my two options personally. Good luck!

I too bought all expansions, but other MMOs took my attention away too many times, or i’d get frustrated with some content with GW1. GW2 just keeps me locked in.

Wish it’d be easier to find the Order you joined. I’m always skipping around all my characters finding their Order.
Would it not make sense to put an Order icon on your Hero main menu?!

pet skins! I just posted this randomly in another thread a few seconds ago, actually. I’d pay money for pet skins.

I would totally spend some gems on pet skins in the gemstore. although unrealistic catering to one profession, imagine little dragons as pets. or… a unicorn! hmm… those little flying monkeys from wizard of oz?

Here’s my strictly PvP warrior – unusually looks better than all my other characters!

I actually did the same thing a few days ago. Every single armor set I’ve came across (medium/heavy) just looks way more the part on females than the males.
There’s a few that look kitten on males. T3 norn heavy. Aether medium norn. But that’s 2 out of 120 sets…
Now my wife asks me why there’s only females on my character selection screen…

Every… single… game… has these type of raging elitist. Doesn’t hurt you. 1 week of experience or 1 year, it doesn’t matter to you. You know how to play. Even the “PvE scrubs” know. Or they will 4 days from now.

I’d say 1 armor skin (they never get old, you can refit on any future toons. 600-800) and a salvage tool.

The easiest way is to just get 1 single Blade Shard from Aetherblades, and then slowly invest your gold into Watchwork Sprockets, and promote them in the MF.

I just posted the same in the other thread on shards.
This is by far the easiest… if you have the gold. Don’t waste your time farming Aethers in EotM or the JP, the yields are extremely slim.

I actually experimented with this, as I had missed the last living story but adored the back item.
I farmed the jumping puzzle for 2 days and received… 1 shard. (am I unlucky?) I also roamed EotM, both by myself and the zerg train, and didn’t receive a single drop in multiple days.
My recommendation: if you have 1 shard and the money to sink into it, drop them in the mystic forge. I usually get 12-17 a pop. As you can see, it’ll get absurd.

I usually run with two drakes. They can take it and dish it out with F2. The one with poison couples nice with your damage over time. This is general solo. Not zerg train. Zerg train… Isn’t anything viable?

Rewards are great. And yes, keep the skill point scrolls. For those who wish to level up their pvp-alts, this helps immensely.

I really don’t get this new patch. I’m pretty confused on why it was implanted in this fashion for sPvP.
I have my same good armor and weapons on my PvE toon. I went to the mists with my same good armor, and can enjoy it. Cool. Okay. Whatev.
But on my PvP alts (level 2), all my gear I had unlocked by PvP’ing was taken off, and now I have to use money to transmutate? Logic please. I fail to see logic. The wardrobe system was fine for sPvP before.
Why in the world did you take all my PvP gear off?

There’s bound to be some 8v8 custom arenas.
Also, just join a match and spectate until there’s an open slot. If you don’t get an open slot, then you should definitely get a free slot at the beginning of next game. Not a big deal in my eyes.

You aren’t allowed to spectate if the servers are full of players playing and spectators spectating.

Do PvP reward boxes from Reward Tracks coincide with the level of the character? Should I be opening these boxes on my level 80?

I’m on my level 2 PvP alt, and I’m getting some pretty worthless (to say the least) stuff (to say the least) in the Balthazar track. I have yet to hop on any other characters to see what they would get. Fully aware it is account wide.

Helmet + shoulders are sold in the mists for like 5 silvers total.
One hotjoin win is 13.5 silver. One game and you have it.

Keep in mind that if you do not have shoulders or a helm, the base stats are still applied. You only lose the looks.

I have two thousand kittening hours on my engineer that’s level two. Not only do I no longer have the outfit I wanted on all of my characters, I also can’t use a helmet or shoulders in pvp until I level.

You guys really screwed this one up.

Tomes of knowledge don’t drop like candy from rewards chests – in the 2-3 hours I’ve been sPvP’g, I just received 1. For 1 level…

The point is in the ease of what sPvP was – a minigame for a PvP’r – Now it is a headache to have what we had before on our level 2 alts that we’ve been playing for half a year (with the gear we’ve had for half a year).
It’s a kick in the kitten to log in to your noob armor after that much time and get told to “level up.” by the above red-name responder.

Spammed about a gay dating site the whole match. He spammed team and map chat, and then whisper spammed me.

We still won though, so I wasn’t too mad…. until I got him again on my team in the next match..

I’m not too sure. I sPvP quite everytime I log in, and I’m always seeing multiple ele’s in matchs.
But I really don’t see too many outside of that, to agree with you.

I believe i’m having the same problem, I posted this yesterday as well; sent in a ticket.
Where your log says “corrupted” mine says “out of memory”. The amount of memory we have is similar. As is the memory used.

Good luck! I’m out of ideas. Going to throw my computer at some repair man! Hah.

edited: I tried lowering my graphics to lowest possible, still getting bluescreened.
