Am no newby to ranger, i played since launch but i decided to put my thief on a shelf and go with my old ranger to try some sPvP

I use this build in WvW with alot of sucess but Longbow/GS on sPvP is so awfull…
My damage is PATHETIC! With Berseker amulet!

If my Rapid Fire deals 5k dmg, its alot…
In WvW i reach 10k Rapid Fire…

After couple matches, i wen’t back to WvW to see if i was having a bad day.

The small diference in the stats from pve gear to pvp amulets is so noticibel on the ranger that makes my jaw drop.

Ranger sure needs some help for sPvP power builds… i feel that unless i go full glassy on traits i won’t deal aceptable damage…

Well it has been said many times WvW is entirely different from sPvP. You have food, buffs, etc. spvp is base stats + amulet and rune. Of course you won’t be doing the same damage you did in WvW. What did you expect? One shot kills?

Power ranger is great on different levels of competition, but not your best choice. It, however, can still be deadly in the right hands. This is all said after that fact we all know ranger is pretty terrible in general.

It would actually be awesome if there were a reward track that had a makeover kit as a final reward. While we’re at it, it would be really cool to have a reward track that rewarded a Black Lion Key somewhere in the tiers.

Reward tracks are incredibly easy to complete already. It would need to be double the length of a normal reward track to offset the loss, I would think, to gem store.

I agree it was pretty fun jumping from hotmatch to ranked game. It’ll be practice games this time around and it’s not much difference. No one, I think, would go ahead and cancel their ranked que to kitten around in practice game.

There’s a few situations that dictate to stomp or not to stomp.
If no one is relying on a stomp to survive, i’ll let him bleed or cleave anyone trying to res him.
If someone is relying on the stomp, i’ll try and stomp but if massive cc is expected with no stability available, cleave. Or – if none is trying to stomp my teammate, ill just attack as it’s usually faster.

It’s ridiculous just sitting there – thus… you get players of all ages trolling people in map chat creating a fairly bad environment.

To your first comment – yeah it’s incredibly finicky – many times have I placed my standard next to my ally, literally, and it failed them. It’s not lag on my end, teammates have commented on it as well.

Even with the howl, sometimes it’ll howl no matter where the opponent is, other times it’ll finish running to an unknown point in its path THEN howl. By that time, it’s useless.

It’s tough as a new warrior – try metabattle.com and test the top spot builds like hambow or shoutbow and go from there. After a few hundred matches come back and see if you’re still horribad.

Even with the best of a build if you don’t develop the skill you won’t beat anyone 1v1. Build only carries so far…. unless your a TURRET ENGI…. in which case, GG.

Try a shoutbow variant with double energy sigils and warhorn buffs – you’ll find you can stay alive longer on and around the point 1v2-3. Not sure about beating – that’s dependent on your opponents skills, but you can last awhile holding the point long enough to get ahead.

condi survival. run in middle of point, bleeds, chill -wolf – entangle – stomp – ggwp. point is yours.

I’ve lately ran into more who insist on home camping than before – even when telling them go rotate, I usually get other teammates who side with the camper. Granted It was just 3 games in the past few weeks. Meh.

Love love my Charr Ranger. Coolest animations, quite opposing looking with LB/SB or GS animations. No real problem on the bowstring; if you’re that technical find a good helm or minimize horn length.
Something is lacking on 1H animations, not as fierce. IMO.
I have a Charr Ranger and Norn female ranger and I usually side with Charr.

Though I see your point, 3 engis on one team doesn’t constitute all engis will outplay your team.
It’s 100% possible to still win matches against so don’t be one to afk like those other players. Try giving advice to the other players of your team on how to shut them down. Condis, avoidance, stability, etc. Good luck.

On the topic of reskin, at times my spirits will be skinned to a tree-like skin, at other times, it’s a ghostly skin. Not sure why, but yes on reskin.

Nature spirit res is too unpredictable in regards to movement and casting. If I’m moving and press 0 it’ll blow. If I press 0 and move (at times) before the animation it’ll blow. At times it’ll just not res anyone. This goes back to the rubberbanding of your first point.

I had the same problem about a day ago too around the PvP waiting area/maps.
I don’t have a GPU, I just use the one on my motherboard. I used the “fix corrupted data” option when I closed out of the GW2 client and everything was fixed.

Could be personal opinion – Try switching gender and see your cleavage bounce around.

Try changing your rune set out if you’re expecting to go against many condi engi’s. Our build does have its weaknesses. Condi is a huge one. I run your exact same build and condi mine engi’s can be troublesome.

Kite them off the node. You might lose the cap, but you’ll gain it back after you renew your spirits, which after it’s done puts him quickly from offensive to defensive.

Lets discus pvp reward system for a minute. Is it actually Balanced? I myself wanna go for a legendary which is basicly 99% grinding money. I also need 120 tomes of something to make 2 characters instant 80. So i thought why not pvp. But is the pvp reward system balanced? I feel when openings these chest that there is missing something. Kinda the feel of exicetement. Becease do they even drop stuff like exotics? At least when i open a champion bag and i get exotic i get that feel of aww yeah. It’s a hell of a lot better than everything else. By the time I’d reached rank 40 I got two ascended weapon chests, one armor chest and seven rings.

The individual reward tracks give a lot of goodies that you can get in PvE, but in a far less tedious way. They’re great for Tomes of Knowledge, Transmutation charges and Obsidian shards in particular.

I actually have about the same results so I can attest this is an honest comparison of the PvP reward chests.

Before I left PvE completely for PvP I can’t say I had the same results in up to a year and half. It’s balanced, if not a good compensation. I’m very happy with the rewards we get.

Most certainly beatable by effort without those silly methods.
He’s not meant to be beaten in a single game, nor 5. It takes time to learn his moves. I did it, like the above poster, in more than 15 tries. If you’re more than 20 games in and still having trouble, read a few guides and memorize his moves.

I tried Rune of the Forge and it does synergize well. It’s been 5 matches since I equipped and it has improved length of uptime with protection – more time alive. Thank you for the suggestion!

I’d like the communities opinion on this, only for ranked pvp – I have a spirit build and I’m debating on a better rune set than the Pirate Rune. Pirate Rune is great for extra damage from the parrot and +power but I feel like it adds very little extra for group utility or for my own utility. The might aspect gets wasted on me as well.

I was thinking of possible choices that relate to my build or weaknesses (condi) I’ve noticed:

Flame Legion
Krait
Melandru
Mercy
Orr

Feel free to critique the build or sigil choices as well, it would help immensely.

I understand you OP. I don’t remember it being this bad. I only play in ranked and I still get some pretty nasty lines if a mistake happens.

Honestly, don’t take it to heart. It’s a game, chillax and take it with a grain of sand. Of course, always compete at the same time. Don’t try to respond to the player. I find keeping silent will win the hearts of other players. Most know there’s going to be a kid out there who will do the yelling.

(pvp) only when they’re immob for a good while will I ever try to land it. OR… it’s one of those players that never moves and dodges. Other than that, will use it or evade.

Edited: never thought of trying storm spirit after the nerf back when but it’s actually still useful as hell. Tried a few matches. Still miss the invuln imo.

It’s still very viable now and will most definitely be more wanted later.

I’ve been running a build similar to your first. The Celestial one. Shortbow synergies well. I recommend utilizing energy sigil on both weapon sets for a more defensive tactic. Im at school and didn’t look in depth at the build. Sorry in advance.
Also, maybe think of dropping one spirit for signet of stone. It has saved me so many times coupled with our many evasive weapons. You’ll outlast a lot longer.

The lobby is dead no matter the time I’m on. It’s actually pretty depressing. Granted, I only stay in the lobby in between matches, but it’s enough to miss the way it was before being locked into the lobby.

Hey Rangers. I’m primarily a warrior user and only do pvp. I got a question.

Last night I came in contact with a very good ranger build whom we always ended in a very close fight if 1v1. This is rare with my particular build and usually Rangers pose little danger.

One skill in particular had me completely dumbfounded until I would pop stability stance each time I saw him: He would PULL me to him.
(No engi or other classes were near. Happened three times. Two encounters.)

His build was SW/Axe and LB. Mixture of condi and power. Wolf and black widow. Popped a few signets including signet of stone. Healing Spring.

If anyone has any idea what it could be, I couldn’t find it in my alt ranger. Or could take a guess on his build as well to utilize. To be perfectly honest I would usually pop all my stances with him. Very good player.

Been noticing the same stocked up professions in team fights coinciding with the pvp dailies as well. Many are noticeably worse than normal getting that achiev points.

I would vote to get rid of these daily profession wins in a heartbeat.

It really killed my interest in creating or continuing leveling new characters any more – I used to be on a fever leveling new characters just to try it out, but these changes make everything a painstaking chore.

If they add new races or classes I will level a new character, but until then, I can’t even recommend this game to a friend because I myself don’t want to go through the leveling process!
