Cele ele is a bruiser build. The ele DOESNT NEED a teleport for survival. Mesmer and thief NEED it to stay alive.

Okay. So the thief, Mesmer, and guardian needs to walk there. While the ranger spams their 2k auto attacks, rapid fire, and PBS. Dodge? Sure, but my endurance will be drained before I get to that ledge. Then those auto attacks will get me low and I’ll have to retreat. Meanwhile the ranger is mashing the S key and and watching YouTube on his other screen.
Dontcha know? It’s not fair for someone else to master their class! I want to be able to log on, random dodge, and mash anything off cooldown. I should be able to win doing only this!

Sure! Take away vertical attacks too. So longbow Rangers and power necros can’t sit on a ledge or roof and spam one. Because they take so much skill! It’s only fair!
This hate for thief and Mesmer simply comes down to people’s dislike for stealth. You could nerf these classes into the ground and people will always cry OP.
This change hurts thief, Mesmer, and medi guard. Notice these are the 3 main zerker classes.

You’re a very skilled guardian, but tage is a “sportsman.” I’d love to see NA guardian representation in the next WTS, but your rage is extreme. I think you’ll be hard pressed to find four other people willing to stick together and grow as a team, while being verbally attacked by their own teammate.
All servers use the same pvp match making system. Servers on matter for WvW. In which case, you can look at the WvW ladder to determine which server you want. Tier 1/2 are generally more about “blobs” rather than individual skill. While the lower tiers, you will see more small scale fights, where each individual matters.
Grenth hood has came back here and there. As for SAB finisher, we can only hope.
I also just bought the game and started because i saw it on Sodas stream. Im not a huge Soda fan but tune in from time to time, Gw2 was so off my radar i would have never known about the sale.
Now? best 15 bucks i can ever remember spending on a game. I easily would have paid full price if i knew it was this good

If they are really fixing those bugs this is a great change. Thieves and mesmer will have normal mobility like other classes that cannot take advantage of those bugged spots.
So what you’re saying is, thief and mesmer should lose their mobility. That way they have just as much mobility as classes who out perform thief/mesmer in many other aspects. Seems legit! You must balance for Anet
Now I know this is a stretch, but I feel like this is a hidden blow to zerker based builds. Thief and Mesmer use these teleports to survival and medi guard uses them to set up “sneak” burst.

Bunker guardian is not about winning 1v1 ever. It is about supporting your team and holding and fighting on points. And even with Bunker guardian being out of fashion because of op aspects of elementalist and engineer it still is what Guardian’s do best in spvp. So if you want to continue to play Guardian in spvp I would suggest bunker and change your definition of what success means to you. Your victories as a bunker guardian are team victories not 1v1 conquests.
Bunker guardian has fallen out of the meta. 0/1/6/1/6 hammer medi is the new meta.

Won’t happen. This will just go down as another blow to thief survivability. Not everyone wants to play S/D and spam dodge.
Phantaram mentioned that, while playing the demo, 90% of the teleport spots no longer work. Not only will this hurt thief mobility, but thief escape mechanics as well. If this is true, I believe that this will be the tipping point for thief in the meta. The risk will no longer be worth the reward.
I’m currently on FA, but am willing to transfer. The main thing that I’m looking for is, for the guild to be active. I silent guild that never groups or using voice coms, is not what I am looking for.

This system is odd. I’ll be on 10 match hot streaks to not winning at all.
What if someone is playing poorly? Or not ready for the ranked queue? Critique would help, yes?
The problem is, folks are so thin skinned that any critique is seen as “toxic”. There really are occasions when a teammate is useless and deserves some amount of instruction to avoid wasting people’s time.

Now, some quick info on myself. Before the December reset, when the ladder was MMR based, I spent a fare amount time floating around in the top 100.
I DO NOT think that I’m some top notch pvp’er, but I know enough about to game to play it correctly.
I will gladly accept tips and critiques, in fact I often as for it when I see someone do something that impresses.
What I do not like seeing is the unprovoked raging, flaming, racism, etc, towards others and myself.
I personally accept that it will happen and I keep going about my day. What bothers me about it though, is that I know that there are a large percentage of players who want to try pvp, but get discouraged and decide to leave the mists for good. What bothers me even more, is that this has become the standard of behavior that we as a community have grown to accept and expect.
I wouldn’t worry too much, since we have the option to use standard pvp models.

For the most part, I tend to find Ranked to be way more toxic then unranked. With that being said, there is some grain of reason for the toxicity. When ever you introduce a reward(s) for something that is exclusive to a certain ladder, you will have some toxic elements to deal with. For most people, it would seem rather silly to be toxic over a mini or armor pieces but you do have some people who legit want to obtain them.
A lot of the toxic players I’ve ran into seem to be from other games. I’m not going to give those names but I assume it’s easy to guess which games they do come from.
The actual veteran loyal Guild Wars player base (guild wars prophecies – now) is actually very friendly and chill.
The best way to deal with it, as said above is to simply block or report them
(verbal abuse or spamming)I do find it interesting with the idea on punishing overly toxic players, what are peoples thoughts and opinion on how it should and if it should be done?
Maybe an idea along the lines of the dishonor system. 24 hour pvp suspension for first timers / 48 for repeated / and a full game suspension for the ones who just don’t get it.
OK here is what everyone is not understanding…..
The OP wants more people to queue to decrease queue times and increase competition. The constant whining in map chat makes his guild friends not play. He thinks the solution to getting more players is to “hold people accountable” through the report feature.
Here is what I think…
The more people that queue for ranked the easier it is to put together good match-ups with lower queue times. It does not matter if someone has high or low MMR all you want is volume.. The toxic behavior, regardless of who does it and why, does make less people queue.
This. People are skimming the post and think that I don’t want to PvP because of ragers. That’s not the point I was trying to make at all.

I have found that most toxic community are those players who are high enough to be almost top players. Those who are learning are supportive and I have occasionally been grouped with high end players and found them to be silent or very nice. The worst are those who are almost really good and frustrated that they aren’t and can’t figure out why so they blame matchmaking and others.
Funny enough, this perfectly describes the main person I was thinking of when I made this thread.
I do block the players that to this, but the bigger issue is the fact that this behavior has become acceptable / expected. As a game that is trying to grow their pvp community, I feel that it would be in their best interest to have a certain standard and hold people to it. The fact that these people are repeatedly reported and still do the same thing, gives people that idea that this type of behavior is okay.

Go back to WvW if you are not equipped to ignore chat, or find four other people to team with. I’m not trying to be mean to you. I see and read worse things in pvp almost on a daily basis. But I either turn off chat or don’t bother contemplating mapchat much.
I enjoy pvp and will continue to do it, no matter what. I just dont know why this behavior has become not only tolerated, but considered acceptable.
Report them, it’s what I do.
I do and so do my friends. However, I see the same players doing the same thing every day.
Where is the accountability?
I know that there will be a level of toxicity in any competitive environment, but I also noticed that GW2’s gets worse the further up the ladder you go.
I don’t think that I’m a great player, but judging by the people I group with, my MMR is probably on the higher end of average.
On my second account, I have only done a small amount of matches. During those matches, there is occasional trash talk, but it’s all in competitive nature. The comments are mostly “playful” and typically not personal.
On my main account however, it’s a whole different story. Almost every match this is personal level trash talk. Sometimes directed at me, sometimes directed at others, sometimes you can’t even tell who they are talking to. Typically it’s the same kitten of players. The players who are in the top 50 or so and can’t seem to go a match without putting some one down. Comments such as, “are you a kittening kitten?”, “This guy is autistic”, “go kill yourself!”
“Yeah, but use your block feature!” I do and this does cut down on some of the drama.

It’s common knowledge right now, that queue times are a little bit long. I was wondering if this was due to a very strict match making system or due to not enough players queuing. I’ve had matches with first time ranked players and guys from Abjured, so the system can’t be too too strict. Because of this, I began to wonder if maybe it was due to a general lack of interest from casual players.
My guild is huge on WvW. We field anywhere from 20 to 50 guild members a night in WvW. However, only about 5 of my guildies even venture in conquest. I decided to figure out, why? The response from everyone was pretty uniform. The PvP community is too toxic! I heard story after story of how they just didn’t enjoy spending the whole match being verbally abused. People told me stories of how they loved PvP, but as they did more matches, they began queuing into upper tier players that would belittle them, trash talk them, and say some of the rudest things imaginable.
Solution? Hold people accountable! I remember when GW2 first come out, people were getting hit with suspensions left and right, for verbal abuse. Now? I know certain people that get reported daily and I still see them day after day raging in chat and calling people “kittens” and “autistic.” The fact that these players are not being punished is giving the impression that this behavior is acceptable. My fear is that it will only get worse from here.

If you use d/p or s/p, most of your damage will be from auto attacks. Use your pistol to keep blinds on the target. Targets that cannot be blinded, need to be dodged appropriately.
Do you think being able to see your own personal MMR would cause drama? I would like to track my own personal progress, but the leaderboard seems to be grind based. What if when you check your pvp stat page, it showed what MMR based percentile you are in?
This is scummy, but i rage quit a match for the first time this weekend. I felt it.
1 at home, 2 at svanier, 1 dead on beach, and me at mid hoping that someone joins me…
Also, when I’m doing all of the decaps on guardian, while our thief wants to keep dying to the team fight.
My matches have been wildly inconsistent. Some days I’m on a killer winning streak, the next I can’t win a match and rage quit. Typically after this, I got to EoTM to kill up levels, because I’m throwing a tantrum and it makes me feel better.
The MMR system seems to be giving me weird matches. One match I’m queued with Fivegauge and then the next I’m with a new player who is still learning the basic mechanics.
On an unrelated note, there have been a lot of 1v1ers popping up in my ranked matches. Kind of annoying. Stop that please.
What scares me is this: Thieves are very squishy, when it’s time to escape, our lives depend on it. Say I’m at 50% hp and I want to gain some breathing room. All of the sudden, I’m taunted and I’m going head first into a combo of enemy fields and cleave. Instant dead.
Say I’m imobed. I use my stun break and then I’m taunted. Dead.
I just see thief survivability diminishing. Will this be the point, where the risk is no longer worth the reward?
As for shadow arts, there’s the age old argument that you’re not contributing while sitting in stealth.
Slow (Condition)
“Skills and actions are slower.”
We have the positive version of this already as quickness, which increases the speed of skills and actions. This will slow down animations and casts, allowing more time to dodge or interrupt the incoming massive attack. We’ve also improved both quickness and slow. Currently, quickness will cause your cast bar to cut out early. With the improvement, your skill cast bar will smoothly update when you gain quickness or slow, even during the middle of using a skill.
Taunt (Status Effect)
“Involuntarily attack foes.”
We have many different status effects in Guild Wars 2 that accomplish a variety of goals, such as knockdown, knockback, and daze. In this expansion, we wanted to open up gameplay options using taunt. Taunt will be used to both reposition foes and change your foes’ targets. For example, when used on players, it will force the taunted player to run at their target with their skill bar locked—minus stun breakers—and only use their autoattack skill to attack. This gives us the opportunity to use taunt in multiple ways, not just as a player skill, but also as a tool to create interesting creature encounters that utilize this taunt effect against players.
Now I know the title of this post is a bit dramatic, but the taunt condition really concerns me. I feel like this may prevent us from escaping during crucial moments.

I only see this kind of behaviour when my team is losing hard, and never that severe. I’ve NEVER seen people rage during a winning match.It really makes me think, that the problem is in you guys who get flamed.
And lol, “top score” means nothing. Most of the time it’s the top scorers who are the worst part of lost game, chasing 1 thief with 3 people to get those kill points, etc.
Comes to NA and queue solo. Watch cruuk and moob_s rage at their team all day; even while winning.
