80, for the past couple of weeks or so. Unless you’re talking about scaling, in which case I’ve been doing low-level content to get my 100%. I haven’t noticed a difference in rewards from doing dynamic events in Bloodtide or Snowden; they’ve been roughly the same throughout.

Between 260-300 Karma, usually about 290, between 1-2 silver, usually about 1s 50c, and some decent amount of experience, though I’m no longer tracking exp as I already have all my skills unlocked.

Look, people, I’m sorry ANet turned off your low-risk/low-effort, high-reward money fountains. Except I’m not, because I didn’t abuse them. So the best advice I could give you is just, well, get over it.

I’m having a blast and feel that I’ve gotten way more than my $150 worth. Endgame schmendgame, there’s a great game here, and that’s all that matters.

I haven’t noticed a drop in my rewards, so I don’t really feel like it’s discouraging me from playing the game.

Then again, I’m not farming the same two or three events over and over or re-running dungeons same-day like the guys complaining about it.

No, I can’t say I’ve tried specifically that, but for all I know, the guys I ran explorables with may as well be undergeared considering I don’t check.

Seriously, the only indicator in this game that you’re ready to do content is if you’re ready to do content. If you’re throwing down against bosses and not dying, it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing.

If you’re dying and blaming it on gear, you’re scapegoating; the problem’s between your chair and your keyboard. Realize that first, then get better.

Good suggestions, but I disagree with the dungeon difficulty aspect. I think they really nailed it in terms of toughness, just not reward.

Eoch, he’s asking for that red bar to be left alone. All he wants is to hide the damage numbers on the screen that pop up whenever you hit an enemy.

Guys, clearly the only way to “save” this game is to turn it into a carbon-copy of the game it was supposed to be different from.

I must not be doing them fast enough, because I’ve been golding a DE about once every 5 minutes, give or take, and I’m constantly getting about 290 Karma every time.

The DE cap only applies for repeating the same event over and over. Spread out and stop farming the same 2-3 DE’s in Orr.

There are banner buffs and guild buffs. You can tell banner buffs are active on your character if they show up with your other buffs. You know if guild buffs are active when they’re shown on the Guild Upgrades window with a timer.

They capped events? But I’ve been getting like 290 Karma from every single- Oh wait, I’m not sitting at Pentinent like everyone else is.

Welcome to the game. I’d advise you to give the articles on the main site and the ANet blog a skim, especially if you’re coming from another MMO.

Pay no attention to the critic reviews sections, that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about overall, and that includes users. Each game has enough user reviews to warrant each as an accurate sample size to gauge gamer satisfaction with each title. See the difference between the two games?

Although I really do think that it’s your own fault (seriously, you should have known that buying bag space for a character and then deleting him would delete that bag space unlock as well, it’s kinda common sense) I have to agree about that bag space unlocking system. I can’t help but think that it would be better served for many if it cost 800 gems and unlocked an additional bag slot across all characters. That would kinda screw over guys like myself though, who only play one character, so maybe an either-or option would be good. I’d post any suggestions you have for that in the Suggestions sub-forum if I were you.

As much as I hate WoW (despite playing it for years), I can at least agree with this. Birdy did make a valid point about going back to some WoW forum and going on and on about how gear progression is bad and it should be replaced in WoW. That would be really, really stupid to do.

What complainers don’t understand is that it’s just as stupid to do exactly that here; to insist that the core gameplay designs that this game was built on from day one should be changed just because small number of people who bought the game don’t like them.

Cosmetic gear. Prestige. It’s not gear that’s necessary to run some other dungeon so you can get gear that’s necessary to run some other dungeon.

Leveling in the game was a side-effect of playing. That’s the way they intended it, and (I can’t believe I’m saying this again) you’d know this if you had read anything ANet has been saying about the game for the past three years. It’s cool and all, but power plateau means power plateau, and that’s something we knew would be in the game around the time they gave us the elementalist reveal.

Deal with it, or go back to your gear treadmill. I honestly don’t care which, because they’re not going to turn a 180 on their entire philosophy on this game just to please a few whiners.

You do know that Eternal Battlegrounds isn’t the only WvW map, right?

No they don’t. If you’re of the level required for the dungeons and have gear at least 5 levels below your character level, you can finish the dungeon. If you’re 80, and are decked out in level-80 whites, you can definitely finish a dungeon. You don’t need to do some dungeon solely to get gear so you can do some other dungeon; once you’re at the level cap, everything’s open to you, and everything possible to complete with a skilled group.

And that’s how it should be.

What are you Oceanic haters suggesting? Just lock them out of WvW entirely?

My server actually has very few Oceanic players; our top three WvW guilds consist pretty much entirely of East Coast Americans, and our server dominated every match except one with Henge of Denravi and Jade Quarry, which remained relatively even throughout.

Don’t blame region for your server’s lack of motivation. And skill.

I do all the content you skipped racing to 80 to get to the “endgame”. I’d list it, but it’d be a very long, boring, repetitive trip along a keyboard.

Kinda like a typical WoW raid!

Uh, PvE is practically all I do in this game. So you’re wrong there. What’s to stop me taking part in progression raiding? The unnecessary grind it would require to access otherwise inaccessible content. Ya know, that thing ANet changed when they released this game because a lot of people don’t like that crap in MMO’s? Also, no, you’re not a large audience. A “large audience” didn’t buy this game thinking it was going to be WoW 2 like you did. A lot of them saw that GW2 wasn’t going to have an end-game gear-locked content months ago, decided it was not for them, and stuck with WoW. That’s where that “large audience” is; playing WoW.

Like you should be, instead of whining on these forums trying to turn our game into that.

It’s those kinds of complaints that make me wish ArenaNet would release more content for pre-80 zones and maybe add more pre-80 zones to the game. Oh man, the grin I would have on my face from seeing all these WoWites pitch a fit.

And that I see no problem with; hell, that’s already in the game.

It’s these people coming into this forum saying that the game should have “progression gearing” post-80 to get to certain content so you can do even more “progression gearing” to access certain content that just aren’t getting it. ANet said it wouldn’t be in the game. Those of us who were following what ANet was saying and looking forward to this game for the many reasons, one of which being that there’s no pointless carrot-chasing to get to otherwise accessible content after max level, would rather see than unchanged simply because a bunch of people decided not to read anything about this game and then bought it thinking that certain stuff would be in it.

If they want that, they can go get that somewhere else; we bought the game because we think that progression raiding crap is hardcore boring.

What part of “it locks players out of content” do you not understand?

These are good suggestions, but honestly, I’d prefer it if they just merged your first two: Make an explorable run give you some decent rewards from it as well as a token that you can exchange for one armor piece or weapon from the dungeon’s armor/weapon vendor.

Let’s hope a mod sees this and moves it to the suggestions forum; I think ANet checks that place more then GenDisc, what with all the whiners about wanting to modify core ideas of this game to make it a carbon-copy of a certain other game.

Fun impacts loot collection. The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best. The rarest items have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game. We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional, so those who find it fun to chase this prestigious gear can do so, but those who don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.
