A good motivating factor would be to severely decreasing the amount of runs needed to afford a full set of explorable gear. Honestly anything more than 20 is pushing it, but I’d be okay with 30/35 if all dungeons simply shared the same tokens.
Either way, it needs to go down by AT LEAST half.
I can at least agree with this.100+ runs of the same dungeon to get a set of armor is kinda ridiculous.
You don’t need 100+ runs of the same dungeon for a set of exotic armor.
You don’t need crafting. If you sell all of your materials at the TP, odds are that you’ll be able to afford a couple exotic pieces without any problem. Crafted exotics cost little over the sum of materials in most of the cases.
I sold most of my stocked mats for 8g yesterday.
Hopping servers to farm nodes you wouldn’t otherwise have access to creates a surplus of materials on the market, driving up supply in relation to demand. There’s already enough problems with items selling for crap-all on the TP, without artificially deflating the prices by flooding the market.
Most materials don’t sell for crap, quite the opposite. Especially Orichalcum ores which are quite expensive.
, and from here on in it’s extremely hard to get a group together or to join one as a Elementalist as i’ve said previously, due to (and this is words from others) they’re too “squishy”.
Not to worry though, i’m sure these will be sorted out some point in the future.
Not sure what that’s about. About an hour ago I joined a quick group with an elementalist friend and we ran Flame Citadel exploration mode twice with two elementalists in the group without any problems. Got 50 Charr carvings and had to go, he stayed there and is probably in the same group until now. I’ve never stumbled into that sort of restriction on group recruiting.
Nope, you get glory/PvP ranks instead.
It is notable and almost hilarious that there are actually botter/gold seller guilds around. I’ve run into them before. You’d think it was going to make it easier for them to get banned, but they’re around everyday.
Given that such ores are rare and vary in location, I do not see the issue.
@Dimas
Anyone will be able to server hop through guesting. It’s not a money-making conspiracy.
There is a tournament hot-join option. And there usually are always groups recruiting for dungeons, sounds like you weren’t even willing to try. Don’t complain about things you haven’t even tried to experience please.
About the bugs, we can agree.
Just to say, I’m from desolation and the orr maps all have at least 1 skill point bugged and atm the event at cathedral of lyssa has one of the seals bugged which obviously means that until they fix it there’s no way of winning the event. Also the Balthazar one is also bugged. I seriously find this to be appalling. I can’t complete maps, I can’t get the karma armor I want, it’s just a bug fest. Meanwhile on the american servers I hear they fix everything at nightime while us at europe get the short end of the stick like usual.
American servers aren’t any better for the record. There are 3 bugged skill points on Tarnished Coast’s Cursed Shore right now (ship, maze and the Charr challenger in the middle waypoint Meddler(?)), and the temple of Melandru invasion hasn’t worked since ever. The Grenth event does work, however. Balthazar didn’t work either, at least some days ago. I did complete Lyssa a couple of days ago.
Malchor’s Leap’s southern-mid skillpoint was still bugged as of yesterday. I’m quite sure Straits of Desolation’s SW one is still as well, but I could complete the map some days ago because a Guardian with a staff managed to fix the NPC.

You do get some achievement points though.
I think it is time for the free transfers to end. We’ve had enough time already. WvW is 2-week long now, everyone is pretty much settled. I don’t see much of a reason for it to continue.
@Athaulf
Sorry, but it does feel like beta in Orr.
To begin with, half of the temple events are glitched. Those are supposed to be the largest and most important chain events in Orr. Half of them can’t be done, keeping people from accessing specific temple karma vendors.. There isn’t a single map there without bugged skill points. We have a lot of people with 90% map completion there stuck on those. Then today gates of Arah is not working in many of the servers, keeping people from playing the last dungeon. That not even counting all of the other frozen events and issues. Yes, it feels like beta there.
Um, I think it is just with certain areas. I’ve been having tons of events.
I have to agree that the amount of bugs is a bit ridiculous. I love the game, but it does feel like we’re playing beta sometimes, especially when it comes to high leveled content.
It is true, I’ve been there. Would be really nice if we could do it somehow.
Yeah, i think the whole point of the anti-bot mechanisim is to also screw over people trying to farm the same event over and over again…
How about not farming the same event over and over again?
UP!
I want it account bounded too. I usually play a character for a few months, and then I have to restart the whole dye collecting thing from zero. And because of this, I don’t even start to collect dyes, just buy 1-2 what I use, and that is all. The rare dyes are way too expensive, and way too hard to get, to be only character bound.
In my opinion make it account bound as soon as possible. It wont ruin the economy, thats for sure. Since some of the dyes are already at a low price, only the best dyes has value.
They’ve already said it won’t be when a lot more people asked months ago. It just won’t happen. No point on insisting on this.
It most definitely has changed (not necessarily for worse), and I talk from my experience as well as many others I have talked to. Most people have noticed a difference applied yesterday specifically. There are other means to make money either way, and selling the rares is a much more stable income. This has nothing to do with gem store, doh.
There wasn’t even a patch.
Server-side changes don’t require a patch.
If there is no gameplay changes for marriage, what really stops you from roleplaying one?
Albeit you can’t forget that you DO get xp and drops from killing the mobs.
Well, some events really are all about a single enemy (devourer queen comes to mind, took ages and a lot of respawning to get a group that worked, and in the end the reward was plain ridiculous). And mob experience is really mediocre compared to everything else, not that I object it though.
It is very disheartening when you spend ages on a single event or fighting a single enemy, only to get the very same rewards you earn with any short silly dynamic event or any common thug. No, seriously, this probably has already been suggested, but it just can’t be stressed enough. It is almost misleading that harder enemies don’t drop better gear, and that what we get from those exquisite-looking chests after a long fight is pretty much the same thing we sell at the NPCs for cheap. We need to better rewarded for investing so much time into something challenging.
You feel mislead for something you -think- you read?
I did play RO ages ago. The grind was unbearable. I do agree that having unique effects for upgradeables is a good idea. We do have that with runes to an extent, but it would be nice to see more options. It would be similar to equippable traits.
Your argument is flawed.
You state that you can’t start working towards end game gear in early game, but you do. You buy end game gear with Karma, which you start earning at level 1. This whole post is moot.
Also, RO was utter tripe.
To be fair, the amount of karma that you make early on is so negligible that I don’t think it sums up to anything significant when it comes to, let’s say, 42k karma exotic gear.
High level areas were not tested in beta events, hence it is somewhat natural that they have more bugs. I feel your frustration though, I want to complete Orr already.
This is all speculation, no one knows for sure.
Right. So you assume that they were being “lazy” for making the zones squared off for you. Let me get this straight, take out the squared off and how do you divide each zones with the right zone transition triggers and such? I mean come on, you guys always have something to whine but at least for this kind of thing.. No offense but you just showed us that you are the kind who know only how to PLAY a game instead of ever MAKING one.
It’s not that they are surrounded by mountains, or each zone is an instance. It’s that every zone is the shape of a rectangle in some patchwork way of putting zones on the map. It makes the world feel less believable and less natural.
Again, it’s a very small complaint that hardly has any impact, it’s just a strange design choice.
The only reason i can think of them putting zones to the world like this, is that it makes it easier to add new zones in the future? like filling the world in, piece by piece like a jigsaw puzzle.
The reason probably was to pack in most content in zones so that we wouldn’t have to get even more loading screens for the same content. They could have made it less obvious at the cost of removing walkable areas from the map.
I guess they could have tried making it less obvious. But it doesn’t bother me at all.
As someone who worked extremely hard on one of the Orrian maps, I can tell you that DusK has the most accurate comment.
From a lore perspective, the risen continent was once a living nation full of all sorts sorts of people and creatures. Now corrupted by the undead dragon, most of them walk the land as monsters. But you’ll still see a lot of the sentient inhabitants mindlessly continuing on the tasks they performed in their old lives. Some of them farm and mine, others lie around and weep in agony.
The coral soldiers, on the other hand, are more direct servants of the elder dragon. They take a more active role in defending the continent, so you should see them patrolling, standing guard, attacking players, etc.
Thank you, Anthony, that was interesting.
So I was wandering in Iron Marches. I saw quite a few Charr cubs near an old house and decided to see what was going on in there. They were approached by this woman. She said:
“How wonderful. You sweet, innocent children have come to play at my home.”
And I was thinking how nice that humans and Charr were finally getting along.
A cub humorously responded:
“We’re not sweet! We’re ferocious warriors (roar)”
She went along:
“Oh yes, I can see that. Come closer, my little champion. I have something for you, it’s a warrior’s prize, worthy of your courage.”
The cubs approached.
“A present?” asked one, “I want one!”
“What is it? An unbreakable shield? Is it a flaming sword like Tribune Brimstone’s?”
And I was there still watching with a smile on my face. The woman continued:
“It’s something even better, little ones. For your bravery, I reward you with…”
“ENDLESS TORMENT”
Wait, what!? Yeah, that took me by surprise. Turns out she was an undead Ascalonian witch trying to kidnap the cubs to bring them pain. Suddenly an event begins and you have to save the cubs from the innumerous beasts she is summoning, and then fight her at once. This is not something I will forget anytime soon.
Would it really be better for you if this were some NPC? “Oh, hi, some undead necromancer is kidnapping Charr cubs, please kill her and come back for your reward.”
Say whatever you want, I prefer this method of storytelling a hundred times over GW’s. And yes, I actually took screenshots of the dialogue.
being in party somewhat helps you staying together on the map if you play with friends or guildies (though the “see blue dot”-range seriously needs a bost). And its used for dungeons and storylines. It is fine this way imo, I see too much PL/PF abuse with the system you propose.
System I propose? You mean the one used in every single other MMO?
I’m not sure if you haven’t noticed yet, but this is not “every single other MMO”.
The current system does not reward team play, it rewards selfish damage tagging, it’s not about single targeting down the mobs that hurt the most, it’s a matter of making sure everything has been tagged so you get xp and loot from it.
This game was supposed to reward playing with others and help eachother, being a support role is currently pointless, you help others and get nothing for it.
While it is true to an extent, there is no pure support role either. All characters attack in a way or another, they just need to figure out how to balance exp gain in events for means other than just raw damage.
Right click on their name , report them and forget about it. Why is this such an issue?
Are you saying that seeing goldeslling spam in chat and getting tons of spam email in your mailbox is not an issue?
Not after you block/delete/report.
Craft, fine transmutation stone, ta-da. Or just buy from TP.
People, there is no arbitrary “first you do this, then you do that” thing. Just go somewhere else, do some other events, come back later. My recommendation is to never skip dynamic events.
@OP
Hear hear!
This problem needs addressing now! Not next wednesday! (to coin a phrase)
Some info from Anet on this would be nice!
Well, it is easy to tell them to do something, but what do you expect to be done? For every banned gold spammer three more show up.
Medium armors really are a bit underwhelming. This has already been addressed several times, but there are way too many trenchcoat styles. We need some variety.
It would be nice to have some group activities. Its a multiplayer online game, it would be nice to have more sociable activities. Running around on your own is ok for a while, but it’s more fun with friends.
In all honesty, a group with 5 people is a lot more sociable than 30 people grouping on a monster. Being surrounded by people doesn’t make an activity more social. Many people are very lonely in real life even when living in large cities and living among an uncountable amount of people.
The issue is that any PvE content with more than 5 people will become a zergfest with zero strategy or fun in which people just sit while autoattacking and waiting for their enemies to fall. I would recommend WvW, as mobilizing a large group is very advantageous there.
It gets worse as more people are hacked. I don’t think much else can be done other than reporting and blocking.
why is dota and LoL so popular with no endgame? because these are single matches that can played in less than an hour.
I can do a LOT of stuff in GW2 in less than an hour.
it’s not about how much you can do in an hour.
didn’t think i’d get such a stupid response so quickly. a LoL match from start to finish is over an in hour.
What did you do in an hour in GW2? farm 2 gold, lol. You won’t start to finish a character in GW2 in under an hour. chances are you play a single character for 200 hours or more.
you are probably not even 80. Don’t get me wrong I LOVED absolutely LOVED the game while i was levelling up and finishing the map. I have over 290 hours played on my main character.
The game has been out for 20 days. If you played 290 hours on a single character, it means you were playing for 15h eVeryday since then. Nothing doesn’t get old after an overdose like that. You can keep looking, you will never find a game that pleases you forever, especially with such terrible habits.
In an MMO you are living a fantasy life, usually that of an adventurer. You need goals in any life man, real life included.
Except that 98% of players don’t actually live a fantasy life, they just want to be stronger in the game to show off and boost their bruised egos.
If someone in real life told you they have 0 goals, 0 plans for their future, 0 ambitions what would you say? it’s the same in a fantasy life. You need a goal, you need a plan for what you are gonna do in the future, you need ambitions.
Uh…what? So we are supposed to work and do the most annoying things in life again in the game to “enjoy” a game that is supposed to be entertainment? Well, hello? This is a game, it exists in your life for the purpose of entertainment, not for you to sacrifice yourself hoping to find another source of fun inside of the game for entertainment.
Yeah, behavioral tricks to keep you playing are the most fun thing in the world.
What a productive thread.
I played on Mordrid, what a huge waste of resources.
Every FFA server on every mmo I can think of ended up a ghost town.
I don’t think you spent more than a minute in there, at least you would know the name of the server.
It was years ago and yes I played a decent amount. The only fun part was DF.
Sorry but it’s a massive waste of time/resources that nobody really wanted to play after the 1st month. As you know, the server was always near empty.
Welcome to reality.
LOL. So ToA/SI/RVR zones on Mordred wasn’t fun for you? Boy, are we different.
You are either one big troll or a whiny entitled brat. All you’ve done is insult people and deflect all arguments against you with personal opinion. This is a one way argument and let me tell you its not going your way.
Here are the facts; Anet doesn’t give a kitten about what some minority like you wants, they are making the game how they want to make it and you can’t do kitten about it. World PvP like what you are wanting isn’t possible without coding an entirely new system which would cost ridiculous amounts of money just for ONE server. They would have to take this server out of WvW completely because of the nature of it. DE would almost always fail because who is going to cooperate if everyone can attack and grief each other, removing all the events for one server would be a huge hassle on Anet because its not as simple as just despawning all the NPCs.
You know what, I’ve decided, you are just a troll. No person who actually put some thought into this would actually think that such a thing would work, or even be financially beneficial let alone be worth the time and effort.
Oh, no, he’s a hardcore 10-year of experience special snowflake who deserves special treatment in whatever game he chooses to play.
Because aiming for hardcore is the way to go right? That is total common sense in the industry, which is why games such as Darkfall and Age of Conan were total successes.
Oh, wait.
No, seriously, get lost. They never promised this to be a “hardcore PvP” game. If you wasted money on something you didn’t like because you were too lazy to read the package description, that’s an issue with you, not the product.
The game is not what I like, hence it will die.
Oh, seriously, get something better to do.
I have no issues in PvP. I usually get top or close to top score on my necro even in tournaments. Of course I could do a lot better were it not for all of the glitches.
And yes, I miss the hunched necro, it was a nice visual.
You get less points for kills.
Not necessarily, you get quite a lot of points by killing to defend/attack a capture point. And then, sPvP is not just about killing.
Sorry, but I don’t think any of this is good and/or balanced. The DS mechanic is fine and it just needs tweaking. I don’t think more transformations are needed. Kris and dirk fall into the “dagger” category either way, the game needs to get actual new classes of weapon with updates. Incense holder is just silly to be used as a weapon, and sounds more like something a ritualist would use, not a necromancer.

And yes, I miss the hunched necro, it was a nice visual.
Doesn’t work for special materials though, just common/fine.
I would buy any day. Just get some variety. I don’t mind not being the same voice from cutscenes. And yes, enough might making right and outrunning centaurs. :p New lines please.
