Ultima Online is still alive and it’s having it’s 17th anniversary soon.

Most MMO’s that “die” (which is very, very rare) is simply due to lack of funding, and not a playerbase. Sometimes the small playerbase causes a publisher or funder to cut ties, thereby killing the game, but I think Arenanet will try to keep their baby alive, especially since we still see GW1 alive and getting updates, although less regularly than GW2.

No hellfire boots? I’m disappointed.

I’m glad I chose the radiant over hellfire because of easy access to flames. I did go for the hellfire helm, though, since the radiant hat looks silly. I don’t wear them, anymore, but they’re still nice to have.

Also, I’m probably going to get the Chaos Sword and Greatsword when the price dips. If you’re missing something about these skins, they’re legacy GW1 skins, with a tiny, tiny improvement.

Yes, that happens when I can freshly introduce into the game 1,000+ gold a week simply by clicking “Confirm” on the “buy gems” page and then converting those gems.

Actually, no, the gold you get from selling gems on the exchange isn’t freshly created. It comes from gold that was farmed in-game by other players. No new gold is actually being created. Likewise, players buying gems with gold aren’t actually supporting ANet financially either; the vast majority of the gems on the TP were originally bought by someone with real money. (I say the vast majority because it is possible to get free gems through AP chests, but this is like a drop in the ocean.)

Well, the first few gold→gem and gem→gold exchanges were either “pre-defined” or “free” in some direction.

I think people forget what the term zerk means. It’s supposed to be the highest damage set in the game, but as the game has evolved and magic find sets were removed, it is actually more beneficial to run assassins or a mixture of assassin and zerk.

Of course, to the layperson it’s all the same and the term “zerk” simply means “speedrunlolololfastfastgoodgoodskrittI’mhitrunawayy”.

However, to the point at hand:
You can play how you want. What you described in the OP is a standard MMO trinity which would ruin a lot this game has to offer. You know those dungeon boss solos? If there is a trinity involved, they won’t be possible. At all. As it stands, it’s possible to beat the “hardest dungeon” in the game solo, with the right skills and proper timing on nearly any profession.

There are many reasons why it’s not good to go pure power in PvE, but the main one is that when you’re clearing things, fast, you want to be able to go through everything as fast as possible. Waiting on the initial ticking of conditions is great and not a significant time sink, but when you can also apply conditions for about 1/3 of the damage of a condition build AS A PURE POWER BUILD while the condition build will do less than 1/3 of your power strikes, then there is no point in running condition damage.

There are times where condition is stronger, definitely, but it typically only comes in a solo perspective, even in dungeons. I can apply 25 stacks of bleed with near 100% uptime as a pure power Mesmer. I don’t have access to bleeds on any of my strikes. Having 25 bleed typically adds 2k to my dps, depending on party boons and other factors. If a condition damage person came in, they would be overriding bleeds that I’m causing, thereby decreasing my effectiveness.

And if you want to go into healing power, toughness, and vitality, well… they don’t scale very well.

If max stacks were at 15, that would mean in 3 kills you’re fully stacked. It might not be broken, but there are sigils that have effects once fully stacked. Keep that in mind.

As it stands, in WvW and PvE, 25 stacks is 25 kills. There are easy mobs to kill to get these stacks and then you can use them against harder mobs (or players).

In PvP, you actually only have 5 stacks. Reducing the total stack count to 15 would bring this down to 3. See first paragraph for unintended side effects.

I know, I play Mesmer… we get Fury when someone else gives it to us. Sure, we have “access” to fury, but it usually lasts for 2 seconds and the access to it severely limits how we can use it, thereby destroying the utility of fury. (Staff bounce can apply either Might or Fury, but that means either camping Staff, or spawning Staff clones, both of which have low Power-based DPS.)

And yes, I’ve played in groups of 4 Warriors where I’ve had no Fury for entire dungeon runs because “FGJ is not a good utility to run when everyone can give themselves perma Fury” except, you know, the Mesmer… who also has very few Might stacks in that group (without a PS, of course).

A veteran player should not be able to stomp a new comer all day.

Wait, this makes no sense. You are seriously suggesting experienced and skilled players should not have a great advantage over inexperienced and unskilled players?

The truest definition possible in a game is that skill level specifically defines the win/lose ratio. By definition, players against equally skilled players would have a 50/50 win/lose ratio.

That will only create an environment that cannot grow.

That is not true at all.

NO. We dont want new balance patches every 2 months. We want balance patches every 4 months but with content worth 4 months of waiting. Not just a few numbers crancked up or down. Give us new skills, new traits, something to keep the (used-to-be great) gameplay from spiralling into the pit of boring.

Posters like this are a large part of the forums in general in my personal opinion. The simple fact that you feel you represent the rest of us and attempt to speak for myself and others is just embarrassing.

Yeahhh, gonna have to agree with you here, coglin. This game is a skill-based game in the PvP scenario. Everyone has equal stats (for the most part), access to slightly different things based on their profession, and they utilize it differently.

The only way to improve is not to get better gear but to improve yourself and how you play. New players should always get destroyed by veterans. If they don’t, then you’re probably playing a P2W game where the newcomer has a big wallet.

PU will not burst down that fast. You might want to look into shatter. The “standard” for sPvP is a 4/4/0/0/6 Shatter Build, you can find it almost anywhere.

But I think you’re talking about WvW, where you can still run shatter (I believe GS + Sword/Torch is the weaponset for WvW). You’re going to want to roam in a small group and not run with the big crowd. You can even go solo, but that takes more effort. To practice soloing, go to a side borderland that is NOT YOURS and is NOT OWNED BY YOUR WORLD, during off-peak hours and slowly try to solo the camps next to your spawn. If you die, respawn and go to the opposite camp. If someone comes and kills you, go to the opposite camp. if you die again, to players, change borderlands.

To practice WvW, enter during peak hours but enter a borderlands that you do not own more than 20%. Run around soloing things (if you can’t take on camps, just go yakslapping) until you find some other players, then run with them. DO NOT RUN WITH GROUPS LARGER THAN 10 PEOPLE.

Well, I’m going to get yelled at for not getting all the timings right, but you could do something like:
1-2 Auto →
100b →
1-2 Auto →
Enemy against wall? WWA
Enemy not against wall? Bladetrail
1 Auto →
Rush →
Weapon Swap to A/S
A2 + S4 →
Axe Auto until swap is ready
S4 →
Weapon swap to GS
Repeat chain from top without using Rush or Bladetrail (use every other rotation).

In addition to running Full Ascended Zerk (no infusions), Banner of Discipline, and Fury, you’ll have around 90% crit chance depending on your traits (5 or 6 in the second line). This would effectively give you a 60% chance of activating the food on every strike, with an ICD of 1 second. 100B is enough hits to apply the hp/s until the final strike. The only part you might have trouble with getting the hits would be using Bladetrail and Rush (although the return on Bladetrail helps).

Sorry, I can’t get the exact number for critical chance since I’m at work right now. If you want to argue about the 60% chance of activating makes it a lower HP/S, you’re right in a theoretical standpoint, which is why in my original post, I said “upwards of 700 hp/s”. The wording was intentional because crit food is never guaranteed, even with 100% crit chance.

Clones have 3,200 health, which means giving them retal (which would probably only be given off of the retal on phants trait) would only be one or two strikes back. Additionally, since it uses the power of the target, which ISN’T the mesmer, you’d be having them deal a whopping 0 retal damage~!

Communication is the key to any functional relationship.
Even one between a company and its customers. Or a game developer and the player base.

This is so important. The number one thing that bothers me the most about how Anet has handled this game is the fact that they make changes that they intentionally omit from the patch notes. They claim that it’s because of fixes related to exploits, but obvious exceptions to this rule aside, there’s no reason to hide acknowledgment of an exploit once it’s FIXED. This issue gives the impression that Anet doesn’t trust their player base, their paying customers, enough to be honest and transparent with us, and that just feels so wrong to me.

Reminds me of changes such as the TP tax exploit being fixed with no mention in the patch notes until a few hours after the patch hit. Luckily I only sold a stack of mithril, but I keep shivering imagining selling some of the more expensive items I have.

And if you’re going to call me out on using the TP tax exploit, it saves you paying 4.99% off of the listing fee. This can be significant, which was why it was addressed after it emerged openly.

The way things are as it stands is anything is only an exploit once it gets fixed, until then it’s simply working as intended, although you shouldn’t abuse things too hardcore.

Sorry for not getting back to everyone on the quotes of my post.

Sure, in WvW and s/tPvP, you might not want to be spamming SoR, but you wouldn’t have been spamming it for the same reasons before the “shave”, anyways. (Boon corruption is still boon corruption, heck it’s less effective now that it lasts less long. Sort of the same with boon ripping.)

As for the food, thanks for the people speaking up for me. I made sure to check the numbers on the on-crit food before making my post because I knew some Warriors would get mad at me for giving an “unreasonable” amount of hp/s.

If you’re going to say that you might not be hitting enough to proc it, then you might not be doing rotations properly. Even factoring in dodges, you’re still hitting around 600 hp/s, 500 if you camp GS (for the 600, I’m talking about GS + Axe/Sword with weapon swap so you’re constantly hitting lots). And if you’re not critting that much, with near-permanent Fury and having Banner of Discusputt, then you’re probably not my intended audience.

Realistically speaking, a Mesmer will never 2 shot a Thief unless you sneak up on them (which rarely happens since they’re trying to sneak up on you). You can beat a thief if you’re really good, but its almost always a drawn out battle of trading stealths/fields.

Sure, if it’s a full zerk stealth thief coming at you, you’re probably dead if you’re also wearking zerk. But if you notice him or are capable of reacting extremely fast, you can stealth away, then prep a combo while he’s revealed and down him. He might end up downing you afterwards, but a Mesmer will win the downbattle because of Rogue.

Direct P2P trading would rob millions of players of the opportunity to buy the items that are traded P2P. It would turn a wonderful, inclusive economy into a horrible mess.

Stating an opinion has been occurred. Proceeding to the next segment of post- the explanation why the opinion has been made.

Desirable items would become currency for the very rich, and outsiders would be paying them through the nose for a little taste of anything that’s not common as muck.

Desirable items have always been currency for the very rich. Outsiders have already been paying for items through the nose because of their lack of knowledge and laziness.

There are two things fueling the market:
Laziness and Greed.

The Greedy will attempt to control markets, such as owning a specific item, controlling prices of an item, inflating bids on an item they control, flipping item (although this isn’t particularly greedy), and hoarding items through speculation (again, not very greedy).

The Lazy will sell to highest bidder, buy from lowest offer, and stay poor.

Now that’s not to say that selling to highest bidder and buying from lowest offer are what make them poor, nor is it to say that those are bad ideas (in some cases they are ideal), however the concept still remains. The greedy are feeding off of the lazy and yet the lazy complain.

If some “outsider” is only able to afford muck, then the solution is to address the problem, not to ignore the problem and prevent nice things from happening.

P2P Trading can harm the TP, yes, but the TP is controlled by players and has “harmful” prices, where there are sought after items that people are unable to buy unless they grind for months on end. Yet people complain that they will never be able to obtain them even though the reality is they will not be trying in an efficient manner. If you want to get to the finish line badly, you shouldn’t take the scenic route.

The TP being inclusive isn’t harmful, but opening up P2P, in my opinion, won’t ruin it. When doing P2P, you don’t have information at your disposal (yes you can open up the TP, but remember, greedy feeding off of the lazy). The only downside is that the “muck-buyers” will be buying muck outside of the trading post, thereby ignoring the gold sink.

That’s actually the biggest issue, the lack of gold sink. I particularly enjoy purchasing items through map chat, and that’s how I finished my first Legendary a long time ago. It’s relatively safe as long as you know what you’re doing and, because of lack of trust, you don’t ever get suppressed since you don’t make that many trades. But the trades you do make tend to be bulky (well, not 100+ of an item unless they trust you).

Now, if you’d like to explain more as to why you think P2P trading would rob players of items and turn our beautiful TP into a cesspool of greedy people feeding off of the lazy players, go ahead, but I’m quite sure that the TP has already been festering for over a year.

Max your kills per hour and get your account MF up, shoot for 200% at least. Find places with reasonably high density of mobs that drop the mat that you want and find a build/strategy that gets you 400+ kills/hour. Depending on the mob and area this might be a zerk build that kills one at a time or it might be a condi necro with epidemic in which you pull 3-8 enemies at a time and then kill all at once. The big factor is how far apart the enemies are and how much time is spent running between kills. You’ll be looking at about 20 t6 and nearly 100 t5 /hour on average if you achieve the high kill/hour rate. I also never set out to farm venoms, dust and totems specifically, as these tend to be cheaper than the other t6. Better for farm 3 bloods and sell to buy 5 venoms.

The dungeon —> buy t6 advice is getting to be worse due to the price rise because everyone thinks that these things can’t be farmed and is chasing the mats with gold instead of farming them.

Thing is, after diminishing returns was implemented, it’s no longer efficient to kill hordes of mobs other than aiming for champion bags.

The reason why dungeons for gold is efficient is because you not only get gold to get T6 mats, you also, you know, GET T6 mats.

Although, to be fair, I would suggest running CoE, Arah, and Fractals mainly. The reason is that the mobs are level 80 in these dungeons causing them to only drop high level gear, as opposed to the low tier dust and whatnot from AC.

Additionally, with Fractals specifically, you will be getting goodies like Charged Cores and Lodestones (Arah will get you Putrid and Vile Essences instead, unless we count moldy bags). The amount of money you can get from these is significant.

If you can only run one thing per day, I would tell you to do Fractals because they will give you the most loot that you’re looking for. You can grind Fractals for loot, to some degree, you just won’t get the bonus chest with 1g + empyreal dust + chance at items + pristine relic.

If you’re looking for money farms, I would suggest Karka Shell farming unless you have a dedicated speedrun group. If you’re looking for something that isn’t mindless, try speedrun groups or just casual dungeon runs. They might not be that fun, but they’re much better than Karka Shell farming.

And you’re only partaking in the bid war if you uppercut someones offer. Just match the offer or don’t ask for 100+ of an item.

Otherwise, do as many dungeons as you possibly can in a day, along with 1 fractal of each tier. This should get you around 10-25g, depending on how fast you go.

Yes, it’s sad that when you want something, it’s better to farm money to buy the stuff than the buy the item itself.

I’m working on Infinite Light. You can craft it yourself for about 1-500g cheaper than the listed price, but it depends on how much money shaving you do, yes shaving not saving. I could finish it today because I only need 400 Charged Cores and 800 Orichalcum Ores, but I’m in no rush.

These changes have been mentioned by ArenaNet, but lack specific details and/or a release date.

General content:
New weapon types and expansion of current weapon types to more professions.
Character progression, new professions and races.
New regions and dragons.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features

Concern: 350 people! And all they’ve come up with are story updates people outside the game can’t connect with? Where are the big new features? Is there really no expansion planned?

Colin Johandsomeman

We have a couple of really big Guild Wars projects cooking in the background…

Some of our players believe that because we are doing this Living World seasons, and these features or these big feature-builds, that it means that the features you would traditionally get in an expansion, or the content you would traditionally get in an expansion, is not something that will get added to Guild Wars 2. And that is not true at all.

Not only are we doing those things, new features and content you would traditionally get from a boxed expansion are also things that will be added to Guild Wars 2.

The thing that we haven’t decided yet is what form that type of content will take. Is it right for Guild Wars 2 for that kind of boxed expansion? Is it right for that to be something we add, live, through storylines in the game? Is that something we want to sell through our in-game store? There are a lot of different options available to us.

… but we absolutely are going to do sweeping new features that you would traditionally only get in expansions – large regions, content and progression additions to your characters in the form of growth and professions and races. Those are all things that you will see in the lifespan of Guild Wars 2.

Lifespan of an MMO is… questionable as to what it means. Ultima Online is nearing it’s 17th birthday.

Colin worded his answer very, very carefully. Additionally, his words HINT at playable races, but they don’t actually state that. Progressions to your characters in the form of races can also mean that you and your characters will have access to more races stories (see: Zephyrites, Tengu, Jotun, Sylvari) and zones.

We’ve been getting new large additions to our map, such as Dry Tops and the opening of Maguuma Wilds.

Profession Growth has already occurred, with the addition of new traits, healing skills, and “healthy” trait balancing. Yes, that’s all growth.

I’m sorry, but he worded it very, very ambiguously. I work in a tech startup and the CEO loves to pull that stuff off. I’m not sure if he does it intentionally or not, but he ends up saying that we will have this feature and that feature, not that we do have it. It makes for a very… interesting dialogue when I have to tell my boss that I am physically incapable of doing something that the CEO said we could do… because we could do it… in the future when it gets implemented.

The stat swapping part of them is so horrendously… useless that it’s not really a reason to get Legendary. Plus it doesn’t make them Legendary, it makes them… nothing, really. Most players will not be stat swapping on the fly due to build, gear, and sigil restraints. Additionally, if they ARE going to be swapping on the fly, they are probably going to be swapping between two stats, meaning they can EASILY get both stats of Ascended for significantly cheaper than the Gift of Magic or Might alone.

i think it can keep the duration, it should just do what it says it does, -100% duration. that way, traited condi characters can still get barely through it with specific conditions.

It would be great, but i actualy understand them, that they simply CANT make that

Like it would mean theyre whole game would need to also measure WHERE the condis come from and then add to own -duration. It is very similiar as to why the game can only handle track of 25x bleeds in PVEland.

Not really… I think that was just an excuse otherwise these wouldn’t exist.

The tracking 25x Bleeds is to reduce server load, which makes sense. However, the game already computes Final Condition Duration = Enemy’s +Condition Duration + 1 – Player’s -Condition Duration so the argument that it’s to reduce server load is pretty silly.

Note: All of these foods and runes are applied as additive properties, thereby negating the equivalent bonus condition duration food, runes, sigils, and traits. However, the it is easier to gain condition duration then -condition duration.

face to face trading

Direct P2P trading would rob millions of players of the opportunity to buy the items that are traded P2P. It would turn a wonderful, inclusive economy into a horrible mess. Desirable items would become currency for the very rich, and outsiders would be paying them through the nose for a little taste of anything that’s not common as muck.

It’s really not as hard as people make it out to be to become rich. I’ve been making at least 5g a day and I work “part-time” while taking summer courses.

The truth is I’m outside of the house, on average, for 58.5 hours a week. I don’t go to school or work on Saturday and Sunday, so I have an average workday of 11.7 hours. Travel time is between 15 minutes and an hour (carpool or public transit). On one day, I work for 9 hours, followed by a 2 hour night class, followed by waiting for the next bus which takes 45 minutes to leave and then an hour to go home.

And that 5g a day isn’t really true either. I do 2 runs of Arah (Path 1 and 2) followed by Fractal 49 or 50, which is over 7g before counting chests, loot, and some sources of gold. Additionally, I do my dailies.

On the 11 hour “workday”, I am actually away from home for 14 and a half hours due to travel to work, school, then home. I only do dailies, if even that, on this day for obvious reasons.

If I actually join any of my speedrun groups, I can make upwards of 23g before counting loot in about 2-3 hours.

I have 360g in pure coin right now, in liquidatable assets (meaning things that can immediately be sold) I have over 1000g (this is just counting Ectos, Charged Lodestones, and a Permanent Trading Post Contract). If we factor in everything else… well, I’m at work so I can’t and won’t do that math for you.

Of course, I don’t expect players to get a Permanent Contract, and I didn’t expect to get it (already had a different TP Contract since the release during Wintersday oh so long ago), but the result still stands, if you know how to save and play “efficiently” you can easily make money. It might not be fast, it might not be fun, but you can do it.

If you don’t want to actually go out and do dungeons, you can always flip things. I know plenty of people who don’t care about “min-maxing” gold gains and will sell to the highest bidder which almost always ends up being a flipper. Of course, they don’t like their toes getting stepped on, so good luck with that.

GW2 and unique classes

A new profession for GW2 is certainly no magic bullet; it would just be a flash in the pan, knee jerk content infusion that would utterly fail to address larger flaws in the game.

To continue off this:
It would also bring less balance to the table, impress less people, lose it’s novelty after a week, and end up being underwhelming or overpowered. Additionally, it’ll be flashier than a Guardian fighting Lupicus, making boss fights already hard enough to pay attention to animations, while showing that the Anet teams are working on things that are unimportant at this iteration of the game.

Have someone else pull while you cast Empower?

Or give yourself swiftness, pull real fast, cast Empower, cancel after 2nd stack of might and tag.

Exploring needs an overhaul

I would hope the Devs never take away the actual act of exploring by implementing a pointer to whatever is missed. The map and the lists are enough of a clue…at least, for me.

And, of course, there is always the Wiki…or Dulfy…or probably dozens of other resources.

Plenty of new pointers. Achievements used to say: “FOUND IN THIS MAP”
Now they say: “FOUND IN THIS MAP, CLICK ME FOR A CIRCLE ON WHERE TO GO!”

Has Day/Nighttime Been Sync'd?

Preview menu is daytime. Also certain zones, such as Arah (Explorable) will be daytime.

The times are also not synced, it might be because it’s off hours combined with megaservers. New maps typically start off in the “morning” time of day, iirc.

Explination for Signet of Rage Nerf?

in Profession Balance

Esplen.3940

Well, currently Warriors are getting rewarded for not using their Burst abilities, spamming their Signet and FGJ (FGJ makes sense being spammed, obviously) for 100% Fury uptime in addition to getting nice amounts of Might and Swiftness. The Swiftness isn’t really an issue, but having 100% Fury and instantly 8 stacks of Might while looking pretty definitely means they’re doing something wrong.

The same can still be said of Healing Signet where the Warrior is being rewarded for not touching it at all. Not only can it end up giving the Warrior stats, but it also gives them really good healing/second, especially paired with the no animation/cast time/etc. Additionally, you can add in Crit-heal food for almost 700 hp/sec.

So they make it look more appealing to not use Signet of Rage and make the effect of Signet of Rage not as powerful to incentivise players not using it. Of course, most players will still end up spamming it, but we may see some Healing Surge usage combined with Burst Skills being better… or not, in PvE.

Fractal Capacitor worth the time?

@nagr, higher level fractals pay for themselves. You typically don’t have sloppy runs and will clear things relatively fast as long as you’re not being stupid. By that point, all of the worse players have been seeded out and you’re left with people who play well with random people and know what they need to do. You might need to say a word or two to coordinate something like reflect timings, but for the most part it’s just a “plug n play” group (oh god I hate those words).

Additionally, each bonus chest is hard-coded as 1g, but the end chests end up giving you around 1-3g per run (not fractal, but whole run). You can definitely get more, as I’ve gotten multiple Lodestones over the course of a single run, but you shouldn’t expect too much.

Factor in the Relics, and it’s not a bad deal. Also, the loot is pretty far-spread meaning you’re in a good position to get multiple different Exotics with skins.

Of course, if you’re just aiming for money, getting a dungeon speedrun group is much better and more efficient. Heck, even solo/duoing Arah and selling the paths will net you more gold/time, unless you’re not capable of doing that yet.

But fortunately it’s only a problem for that one quest. After that the gate becomes accessible (as do the two in the other Order bases) and the system will be working properly again.

I forgot, but wasn’t there a time when the two other Orders wouldn’t let you in their Asura Gates for some odd reason?

Guild capes and halls?

Guild Halls are something I want. I have fond memories of chilling there with Guildies in GW1. Hosting Guild skirmishes was great as well.

Capes seem to be in direct conflict with back pieces, IMO (tho I never display mine). Don’t Guild tags ID your guild anyway? Never been a big fan of look of capes (even in GW1).

They were fun, but too shiny and had bad physics.

If you want to display your guild, there’s plenty of guild armor (some of it is unobtainable now) with the obtained pieces showing off your emblem. You even have a dinky little flag behind your back. Makes me think of the WvW loading screen where I keep imagining what the game would be like if you actually had a reason to hold a banner… or if the banner back looked more banner-y.

Actually Tommy, that’s a good point. Without the sigil swapping, the stat swapping can be near useless.

NERF ZERKER STANCE !!!! ............. by 2s

Esplen.3940

Dear lord, how about they nerf necro passive fears instead?

Warrior has nerfs coming; they haven’t even -dropped-.

I’m totally for a nerf to nightmare rune and reaper protection if hard counters like berserker stance / diamon skin don’t exist

Isn’t the entire condi system pretty well set in hard counters? Condi -> Condi removal…

Condi removal isn’t as much a “hard counter” as full immunity. Most condi cleanses have a cooldown that’s a lot longer than the condition application.

You can argue that things like Zerker Stance also have a long cooldown, but they’re essentially providing condi cleanses for the full duration. For Diamond Skin, you’re just going to have to cry unless you can wet noodle them down.

Additionally, things like Cripple, Immobilize, Chilled, and Fear all provide their intended effect whether or not they get cleansed. Fear can push them away slightly. Cripple, Immob, and Chill slow down their progress towards or away from you, and Chill also slows down their cooldowns, if only just slightly.

So while Condi Cleanses are the appropriate way to combat Conditions, they aren’t quite the same as a hard counter.

Think: Evasion vs Endure Pain vs Invulnerability.

Evasion avoids the damage, but still gets hit by conditions, fields, effects. This means this can be fought with Retaliation, Shocking Aura, Fields, Conditions.

Endure Pain negates the damage, but still gets hit by conditions, fields, effects. However, the hits still connect with this one, so if you’re getting hit by a condition application, you’ll get the condition. Can also be CC’ed by means that Evasion will avoid.

Invulnerability avoids everything until the duration is complete. Applied conditions still tick and deal damage, as well as environmental effects, but most combat-related sources are completely avoided or negated. This also destroys any projectile that attempts to pass through you, meaning you can act as a body shield for piercing or bouncing projectiles.

So, back from the tangent, Condi Removal is like using the dodge button. Berserker Stance is like using Endure Pain. Diamond Skin is like having Invulnerability.

Not quite the BEST analogies, but it’s easier to visualize it. You won’t always have a CondiRemoval/dodge ready. If you know some big things are going to happen, use BStance/EPain. Diamond Skin/Invulnerability is just plain annoying to deal with.

Obviously there are some disparities. You can dodge condition applications, therefore Condi-Removal is one “step” higher. Diamond Skin is one “step” lower than Invulnerability, but I think the points still apply.

Note: This post isn’t made for you specifically, Jerus, it’s made for anyone reading this thread.
