The reason necro is viewed as OP is because – it is!! drums
Because it’s the most OP class in the game by far.
1) Shadowsteps and shadow returns works properly….does not clip against objects. Using infiltrator’s arrow works 100% of the time to get you places, ie can be used for jumping puzzles
2) put back the stunbreaker on shadow return and revert lotus poison nerf oh and put back cluster bomb to 1200 range.

WvW is not about 1v1 or small man, it’s the whole world vs another world to accomplish set objectives. For that the thief is completely useless. It’s hilarious to hear **** complaining about the worst class in the game trying to get them nerfed from worst to even worse.

Thief is the worst class for WvW and PvE, need lots of buffs.

bleed isnt removed first I have experienced this as a necro. my understanding is movement impairing conditions are removed first, I think poison is removed before bleeding too. theres an order to the removal priority I just don’t know it all.
Now that just doesn’t make sense at all…
At this point Im gonna just have to go with the wiki everyone is saying something different.

D/D ele has long since fallen out of favor after nerfs and meta changes and cannot compare to the level of cheese of this thief, especially in non-capture scenarios. Yes I can survive them if they don’t get a lucky backstab and potentially outrun them but if they are skilled they will never die. And I’m glad you think pressing 5 and 2 is less EZ-mode than ele. Anyways thanks for the strawman that you went to so much trouble to erect (looking at my post history), you’ve added so much value to this discussion (and as it is an irrelevant strawman, I will comment no more on it)
I don’t play EZ mode perma-stealth thief either…. both of you are EZ mode.

I dunno anymore. People who did tests apparently claim that bleed is removed first…even though I find that kind of unfair to people who rely on bleed to do the majority of their damage…
In sPvP it’s totally dominated by necros since they’re so OP right now. When do you think the nerf will come?
EB is always queued since I’m on TC..
so I start off on one of the BLs…then queue for TC. Then just play on the BL until I get in.

I noticed roamers on top tier servers are a lot better…
based on my experience on NSP, TC, and fighting against various servers. I think the roamers on SoR are actually very good.

Well there was some guys in another topic saying bleed always removed first, and some other guys saying the most recently applied condition gets removed first as well as the wiki. Now you’re saying it’s “random” and I’m hoping it takes out the most damaging condition.
Don’t know who to trust tbh.
Problem with celestial is gonna be the low power.
hills and turns. also somtimes it seems the condi removal has preferential choice.

what do you mean? I haven’t really noticed it getting stuck on objects much…and as for choosing which condition to cleanse, I hope it gets rid of the condition that does most damage to me…it doesn’t need to be bleed always but hopefully the most damaging one.
Out of curiosity, did you ever notice a time you used shadow return from your sword, and it didnt remove bleeding while you had bleeding on you?
I don’t look at my conditions usually. I decide when to use shadow return based on how much damage I’m taking , and kinda estimate how many bleed stacks are on me and I use it when I determine I have too many bleed stacks on me and my HP starts to tick downwards noticeably.
I know what you’re getting at…and I want to know as well. Since I use sigil of earth as a cover condition, but if bleed always gets removed first that would be pretty good news for me as I’m not running a condition build and therefore bleed would be the best cover condition.
With S/D as primary set for 1v1, I carry shortbow as swap for 1vX and ZvZ. Gets me tons of bags in ZvZ bro.
Really proud of this one since I only got 5 points in shadow arts and no condition cleanse utilities.
People say thief is terrible at condition cleanse without SA but I killed the king of condition builds 1v1 (thought to be fair, necro is probably it since it has access to more conditions….but necro is still slow as hell)
Basically just spammed infil strike for the condition cleanse and used hide in shadows when it got too hot.
Duel was pretty close though, killed him with like 5% HP left when we were both in downed. I bowed at the end but he res’d quick haha.
PS no runes of lyssa, no lemongrass, no runes of melandru or sigil of purity etc.

Guardians are thieves worst opponents. Too many stunbreakers for BV and retaliation damages them more than the damage dealt to the guardian. Ofc there are some sad stealth dodge tank builds that take a lot of time to kill but hammer/GS combo wrecks them the second they are caught.
Not really I love guardians on my S/D thief. Yum.
Could just make the stealth created by last refuge doesn’t interfere with revealed. That would make it “OP” but think again, it’s on a 60s cooldown, it won’t be that OP.
The trait is amazing. The only oxymoron is that it currently benefits low stealth builds more than high stealth builds even though it’s in shadow arts. Either way it’s too valuable (for certain playstyles) to just delete imo.
Sword AA also causes cripple which is nice offensively and dagger AA regens your endurance which is nice defensively.
Played a few more matches. Overall I feel playing sPvP is a very worthwhile experience and can teach you some skills for dealing with certain classes/strategies that you may not run into in WvW.
Already I’ve mastered the shadowstep stomp and have had a lot of experience with identifying the real mesmer. For some reason, both of those are infinitely easier to do in sPvP, probably due to the low amount of distractions in a sPvP environment.
Also feel mesmer and thieves are both a lot easier to deal with in sPvP. Mesmer likely because they can’t use full berserker and I guess thieves also because they can’t use full berserker. But for thieves I haven’t really seen any that detach much because they know anytime they detach is points lost for their team. So it makes predicting them SO much easier. And for battles over the ring you can just attack randomly and ACTUALLY hit them because you know where they need to stand to bunker and contest the objectives.

And I guess here is another area where sPvP does it better. I actually get to know my stats and performance after each game. Know if I did horribly immediately and if I did really well in a game and think about why I did poorly and how I can improve for next game.
This game mode is kind of like alliance battles from guild wars 1 minus the NPCs defending each point. Strategies are a bit different but you can tell sPvP was definately inspired by alliance battles. That was my favorite activity in guild wars 1 and I’m glad they were able to sort of replicate it here.

I actually think it’s fair for necromancer to be best at 1v1. they have possibly the worst mobility and one of the worst downed states.
Thief on the other hand can detach at will, and can come back to 2v1 the nec if needed. The difference is the necro can’t get away. That’s why you don’t see that many if any roaming necros.
Why would you main SB?
Ranged weapons always deal lower damage than melee. The advantage is that there is less risk. If there is minimal risk to engage melee, you should always engage melee.
As such, shortbow is a good swap weapon to use when it gets too hot.
Definately power though.
I used the exact same build I’d use for PvE/WvW (S/D and shortbow, minimal stealth) and expected to get rocked but after the first 1-2 games, I’ve been consistently scoring top 3. However, points are probably misleading since I get a ton of points from skirmishing which I’m not sure really contributes that much to the success of the match.
Class balance seems to be a lot better however, I still pretty much rock the same classes I can rock in WvW, and have trouble with the ones I have trouble in WvW. Though enemy thieves noticeably are not as much of a threat in sPvP as they are in WvW. They hit a lot softer and can’t really deal sustained damage which makes them not as useful in my opinion. They are still squishy as hell though.
Skill level for players don’t seem to be anything special, at least for HotJoin. Probably around the same as the average WvW player though obviously they are likely using a build more suited for dueling.
Also noticed warriors can’t really get away from me as easily as they can in WvW. Obviously because they can’t use lemongrass to basically make themself immune to conditions.
All in all, pretty fun. Got to r5 and I’ll probably play it to pass some time. Just relieved I didn’t get rocked basically using the same equip and same skillset from WvW in a different game mode.
Only difference in stats for sPvP is I specced slightly more for offensive and became a little bit glassier. I could use celestial amulet to attain the same defensive stats as I have in WvW but I noticed that my power was a lot lower and this made me hit a lot less than I do in WvW, so I use berserker amulet so I actually hit harder than I do in WvW but am a little more glassier, though this trade off is made up by the fact that noone can really spec full berserker in sPvP.
Berserker stance doubling should be a nice buff too. Just saw a warrior get away from a zerg of 15+ with a commander all chasing. Got away without a scratch almost.

You don’t need armor for Mox or Ranger pets….that was my point. Have you read any of the guides to filling the HoM? They show the easiest way to get points. =)

Type in ‘Goddess of Wind Ex’ to see my progress thus far. I’m currently at 9/50, I just want 10/50 for the flaming dragon sword and Guild Warrior title.
I’m really lost as to what to do to get 1 more point even though I have thousands of hours invested in Guild wars 1 (mainly played alliance battles…so yea didn’t do crap for my HoM score)
I beat all the campaigns…..played a ton of alliance battles (pretty much WvW, gives out even less rewards than WvW), I’m super high ranked, but I don’t know why I’m only at 9/50, this is really aggravating for me.
Don’t want it. I’d rather have shuriken to use as ranged or kunai to use as melee/ranged.
How would TC do if it matches up with SoR again? Do you think we could win this time?
Don’t need to stealth at all to win a guardian.
It should be way more than 500. 5000 would be more fair compensation for the thousands of hours it took to get 50/50 HoM.
