Well, I was gonna post a screenshot of my 6 level 80’s but then I remembered I deleted all of them. Oh well. I’ll just tell you the reason I deleted them. World completion on 5 of them, ascended weapons for 3 of them, and nothing left to do on any of them.

Hmmm, the story, like all good tales, grows in the telling. There were originally four level 80’s according to your post about deletion.

I love you Gw2.

I love it too. It is the best game I have ever played and the people in it are mostly pretty amazing.

I don’t give two hoots about ascended weapons or armour so grinding for them is not going to spoil my pleasure in this game.

Our nice little guild is breaking up so I am looking for a ‘mature’ established guild that has the room to take on myself and four (possibly five) of my friends. We are mostly PvE but some of us are willing to try some PvP/WvW.

We have played together since February this year and have a lot of fun in this game.

Some of us are Australian and some USA so we are on at various times though happiness is when we all manage to land on together for several hours. That does not mean that we would not be willing to include other guildies in our party or help out where needed.

Thanks for reading and I hope there is the perfect guild out there for us soon to be homeless waifs.

I am having troubles too and so are my friends. We have constant disconnects at boss fights and sometimes weird lag issues just in the open world. None of us had this type of thing happening before the last patch. I have seen a lot of reports in map and local chat as well so there seems to be many people with similar problems.

Does anyone actually LIKE their class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Figlilly.3907

Figlilly.3907

I have one of each class and two of ranger, mesmer and warrior. I love them all. Well, maybe not that keen on engineer but only because, for me, it is quite a complicated class to play and I am not good at it. Some of them took a while to grow on me. I deleted the first necro I made because I just didn’t like it but now I have a level 80 necro and love playing her. Guardian took a while too but I finally like her. The ranger was love at first sight and is still my favourite class.

Bleeding needs dripping trail of blood

Of course it is violent, Lanceor. No one is arguing against that. I actually find it therapeutic sometimes getting my guardian to bash in a few skulls with her hammer. I don’t get to see bits of bone chips or a spray of brain matter and nor do I see the caved in skull with the eyes perhaps popping out of their sockets. Would you ask for that too? If not, why is blood so special?

Where would you draw the line with bleeding? Would those risen rotting corpses bleed? I doubt if they have veins or a heart left to pump the blood anyway. The Ascalonian ghosts? What about the Sylvari. Do they have red blood or some sort of sap. I could see it getting quite complicated.

I see nothing wrong with snowball fights. I have never been in a snowball fight in real life so it is fun to do it in a game. Actually I love the diversity in the heart quests. They are not all about killing creatures or monsters and I enjoy the change of pace when they are a little quirky.

How many dailies have you missed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Figlilly.3907

Figlilly.3907

Too many? You get five and sometimes they can take seconds such as visiting the laurel vendor. I do not understand.

The game I played previously only had three activities to complete but they were tedious. You got the three you drew that day – no choice – and they often involved going over old ground, completing quests you had done before, pvp type things or killing a certain number of monsters. If you had alts you did the dailies on each of them if you wanted them to get the points too. No sharing. You could choose to reroll your dailies (at a cost) but even then you could get the same ones again RNG being what it is. Truly, GW2 dailies are a breeze compared to that.

I would like fishing too. There are so many pretty spots in the game that I mostly just run past. There is even a little pontoon in Queensdale (I think it is there) that would be the perfect fishing platform. I would like skinning/butchering as well. All those Moa carcasses going to waste…

Figlilly.3907

Agree. Although I am grateful to Anet for the new content and appreciate the work that has gone into it, I hope we get a breather soon. My small group of friends seems to be getting increasingly snappy towards one another and I think it is the stress of wrapping our poor tired brains around new content so often. It will be nice to get back to puddling around with map completion or personal stories or messing about at the crafting tables.

Interface flickering, partially invisible

in Account & Technical Support

Figlilly.3907

I sometimes get flickering when I move from one zone to the other. It is not consistent and I can go days or weeks without it happening. I have found waypointing to a different zone and back again always fixes it. I have also tried going back to the character selection screen – waypoint fees add up. That can fix it too though sometimes the flicker is so bad there that I can’t see any of the commands.

How much have you paid to play Guild Wars 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Figlilly.3907

Ha ha. Thousands.

Buying the box was just the start. I soon found I needed a new mouse, then a new headset so I could talk to my guildies on Ventrilo and hmm, a new computer – well why not? No lag at Maw any more. I have spent a few hundred on gem purchases as well. Recently I have just bought GW1 and the expansions and additions for that so yeah, a bit of an investment for me but absolutely no regrets.

Jumping Puzzles

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Figlilly.3907

Figlilly.3907

I am not sure if this is the same problem but when I first started this game, I had horrible experiences with the view spinning and shifting. Partly it was the mouse I was using then but also I read somewhere (here I think) that it occurs if you log out and then log back in using the window shortcut that is left on the screen. Better to close that one down and start again from the task bar. I hope that makes sense. I lack the technical speak to phrase it more meaningfully A different problem happens when your character gets stuck spinning in one direction. This is not limited to the Mac only as it happens to a friend on a PC as well. Just pressing the key to go in that direction will stop it.

How did you learn about Guild Wars 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Figlilly.3907

Figlilly.3907

I had heard of it of course but mostly I turned a deaf ear as I was happy in the game I was playing.

Fast forward a little and several guild mates had quit my game and gone to GW2. Still, I refused to listen when they returned briefly to gush about the merits of the game. It sounds silly now but I was worried about the movement controls. The game I had invested so much of my time (and money) in was purely mouse-driven. I had tried WoW and Runes of Magic and I found the controls quite challenging. I am sure that most of the trees in the starter areas of both games have face-shaped dents in them from my characters.

Then I visited a friend who had just bought GW2. She was so enthusiastic about it and sat me down in front of it. I was totally blown away by the beautiful scenery and the gorgeous characters and knew it was the game for me. So here I am, six months or so later and still just as in love with it (though I am still capable of bumping into a tree in an off moment). In fact, I have also bought GW1 as well. I don’t get to play it that often but it is there for when I want to explore the origins of this wonderful game.

How many characters do you have?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Figlilly.3907

I have 10:
Human Ranger L80
Norn Guardian L80
Human Warrior L80
Human Mesmer L80
Human Necromancer L80
Human Elementalist L80

Asura Mesmer L50
Sylvari Necromancer L30 something
Human Thief under L30
Human Engineer also under L30

Obviously I do prefer playing humans but I love my Asura now. She is so adorable. It took me a while to create a Sylvari but I am beginning to like her now too. One day I might make a Charr but they don’t really appeal to me at the moment.

Edit: They are all girls too. I have not yet created a male character.

Love to hear that some people have 43 alts. Wow. That is amazing and maybe one day I will get there too.

If you only had 1 character slot

Figlilly.3907

I wonder how many people started this game thinking they would only ever have one character. I know I did. I didn’t think I would ever need or cope with any more. Ha. I now have 10.

To answer your question, my choice would be a human ranger just as it was when I first stepped foot into this game. I love all my characters (though the affection is a bit forced with my Norn guardian) but my ranger is very special. I don’t get to play her much because I am keeping busy levelling my alts but when I do, it is like stepping into a comfortable pair of shoes.

So:
human
ranger
probably Whispers or Vigil

All of the above but also there would be many people, myself included, that are perfectly happy with the game as is but just don’t bother to write it.

I come from a game where the forum is full of complaints and quitters and with good reason too. I often shake my head here when I read the moans and groans because I have never had it so good.

Still, nothing is perfect and, while I am sure the developers would much rather read glowing praise, constructive criticism is probably a lot more useful for pushing the game forward.

Increase in bank space (soon™) ?

I drooled so much over your collection. So nice that there are other pack rats in the game. I maxed my bank tabs out within the first weeks of playing this game and space has been my constant bug bear ever since. I still have to max out my characters bags but that will happen. At the moment, I am probably the person you see being shot to pieces because I am busy sorting out my over-stuffed inventory. Can’t leave those spider legs behind. I hate selling or disposing of ‘good’ stuff – i.e. something I may use one day if I remember I have it but I have to be strict with myself now and then. It is always so nice to finally see daylight in my bank slots but within hours it is usually creaking with the weight again. It’s all good fun though. I am with you totally. More bank space please.

I love it too. I continually pat myself on the back for being clever enough to find such a wonderful game. Actually, the truth is, I had to be talked into it because the title of it made me suppose it was all about guilds doing pvp. I came from a game where pvp was all people had once they reached the top level. I am so pleased that I do not have to do it in this game as I was never comfortable with it.

The game I came from charged you to resurrect yourself but also charged you to resurrect other players. Only the very generous or the much reviled (but essential) pay to play players could afford to do that. In perfect contrast, the most heart-warming message I have received in GW2 is when I was rejected for trying to save a downed person because there were ‘too many resurrectors’. That speaks volumes for the players of this game and the underlying philosophy.

does anyone else have a problem with alts?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I have nine characters but only two so far have got to L80. I try to give all my ‘children’ equal time but often it gets quite hilarious when I mix them up in my head and the button mashing in the face of danger can get quite hectic. I would describe my playing skills as ‘jack of all trades, master of none’. I do believe I am addicted to that creation screen though and the urge to buy another character slot is almost daily battle. I have to ask myself if I really want to do that rabbit food heart again (or the baby Dolyak one) and that curbs my enthusiasm for a while.

I recently bought a new Mac. My old iMac (Dec 2009) is fine but tended to slow down at the big events. The new one is 3.4 ghz Intel i7 with the Nvidia GeForce GTX680MX. Performance is very sweet and no more lag at Shatterer or Maw. I don’t do WvW so can’t comment about that. I haven’t played with the graphics settings so far so am using whatever the computer chose for me.

The nice thing I found about changing Macs was that I had everything up and running in under two hours – all my games, programs, thousands of ebooks, Itunes etc. All I needed was the backup from my old computer on Time Capsule. I didn’t have to reinstall anything. Gotta love the sheer elegance of Macs.
