Yes, I throw my major ones into the mystic forge when it is a daily quest. Sometimes I get something different out but it doesn’t matter if I don’t. I have a personal bank and I share it with a friend and we both use them.
I guess the green ones were more important once. Older players might remember once when we had to confirm before salvaging green items. Perhaps the green runes and sigils were more useful back when green items were not something you automatically salvaged.
I have never understood why they changed them. The old blue ones were much better. I too have trouble distinguishing between the complete and incomplete symbols and sometimes have to mouse over them to make certain.
I found another forum post similar to your’s and the suggestion is to clear cache and/or check the knowledge base for suggestions. This is the post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/paypal-does-not-open
I don’t know if you have tried this or even if it will work but maybe opening Paypal before you attempt to buy gems may help. I used to have to do this with another program many years ago.
If all else fails, contact Support (link at the top of the page). Good luck.
There is also the Dead End poi in the south east section of Divinity’s Reach.
That was added during the Living Story when we first met Margery but you may have missed it if your character had completed Divinity’s Reach before then.
Of course. I would want to take advantage of any pre-order bonuses.
It’s a heart quest at Oxbow Island. However, it is limited to just the heart quest and the heart area. Once you complete the heart, you won’t be able to do it again on the same character.

Good news Mac folks. From the AMA on Reddit today.
Stephen: They are actively working on a proper Mac version of GW2 and this week they finally got it compiling, linking and starting up, but it crashed at the login screen; no ETA
I wish I knew how to link neatly but it is in here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/48zlyd/im_mike_obrien_here_with_gw2_dev_team_ama/
Hey SS. Good to see you back. I remember you were always very helpful in the Support threads.
I guess it could be a combination of the two – clever players working out strategies and maybe a bit of tweaking by Anet. I still find TT scary difficult though. I still have to kill the Amber head and I can find a thousand things I would rather do than go back to face it again.
Agreed!
Although I like achieving things and I actually got out of my comfort zone a bit to get some of the mastery points, the ones I have left now to get are mostly unobtainable for me. They would require me to go into (shudder) dungeons or fractals and I am not interested in either. I’d rather eat a box of hair.
I have stopped caring about the Tyrian mastery points. I managed to get the auto loot pick up and that was the most important one for me. I don’t do fractals or dungeons so that limits me quite a bit to gaining more points. There is not much more I have available that is achievable for me. Bah humbug.
I would report and move on. I would not give them the satisfaction of knowing they had upset me. I would block and report and let ANet work it out. It is just words. I know they can hurt but wishing a horrible thing like aids or cancer on anyone will not make it come true. Those outrageous words tells me that the person saying such things is probably a not too bright kid and no one I would waste time on.
I am sorry you have had bad experiences, Ally. I hate bullying of all kinds but sometimes we just have to move on and not let it spoil our lives too much. GW2 has a great community but you are always going to get the trash and especially online where they can hide behind their avatar.

Character name changes.
Yeah, the Mac version is pretty woeful.
I run an IMac too and the only way I can beat the crashes is by lowering my graphics settings to Best Performance and then tweaking them a little so I can at least see people as they do look and not ugly default characters. I sulked having to do this at first because I bought my Mac for the graphics capabilities, but it saves the frustrations of crashing. I haven’t crashed now in a long while. I understand the crashes are caused by out of memory errors. The PC users have a 64 bit version and that helps with their crashing issues. Apparently we can’t have that on the Mac because of Cider.
You might like to browse this very long thread to see that you are not alone: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Can-we-please-get-a-working-Mac-Client-Merged/page/12#post5996216
It is true that being in a party can often bring you back to the same map but I understand wanting to play solo. I do too most of the time. One new feature of the game is having a Commanders squad to join if there is a Commander at the fight. This will also bring you back to the same map if you crash and the squads are usually set up just for that fight alone so you can just leave the squad at the end of the fight.
Your zoom issue might be fixed by turning off ‘use scrolling gestures’ under Options. I have never used the magic mouse on my Mac – it is still in its packaging – but I know the zoom can be a problem on normal mice if the scrolling gestures are set.
Macs are lovely machines but unfortunately I think you will be disappointed by the performance of GW2. It just doesn’t work all that well on the Mac and you will most probably have crashing issues at big events. Most people seem to turn to Bootcamp and play the Win version.
No, not my thing.
Welcome to Tyria, Aleks.
I am glad you grew to love the game. My first character turned three years old the other day so I have been around for a while but I still find much to enjoy and much I haven’t yet done. It’s a great game and the community is mostly a fantastic one. Enjoy your time here and I hope you stick around.
Lots of crashes mentioned in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Can-we-please-get-a-working-Mac-Client-Merged/page/12#post5986824
To sum up, the Mac client is pretty poor and you are probably having out of memory errors. They have the same thing on the PC except the PC has a 64 bit client. We can’t have that on the Mac.
You may find dropping your graphics down is helpful. I have been managing for a while by doing that. I dropped them down to Best Performance and then tweaked them a little so that the gameplay wasn’t too ugly. It is annoying because my Mac is capable of so much more but at least it saves me the hassle of crashing.
It is helpful too if you try to get into a party or a squad at a big fight. Then if you crash, you should return to the same map.
It has happened to me too. If you are playing a ranger or necromancer, be sure that your pet or minion is out of combat.
I have found that logging out back to the selection screen and then choosing the same character will fix it.
It’s just a bug. Computer programs/games have bugs. Fact of life. Report it and work around it rather than stress yourself out.
You can play with your friends as long as you are in the same region which will be either NA or EU. It does not matter which server they are on but you must share the same region.
It will not matter where you live. You still should be able to log into the region you already are registered in.
Ninja’d by FF.
It is confusing. I don’t know if this will help but these are the Tyrian Masteries in my panel.
If I go to the Hero menu and then choose Achievements, the listings with the red symbol are for Tyria and the green are for HoT.
Clicking further, on General (for instance) and then choosing Silverwastes, shows me the Tyrian mastery points I still have to get.
I can do the same with any that have the red symbol against them.
HoT masteries work the same way.
Once you fulfil those masteries and get mastery points for them, the symbols will disappear. You can then go to the Mastery icon in the Hero menu and spend those points.
I have a grand total of one Tyrian mastery point to spend and I have temporarily run out of interest in getting any more.
I love the Norn version. My Norn wears it with the angel wings.
Excellent.
Do not feel bad. It is easy to spend in game money and not notice. I can do that very easily in real life.
Your personal guild bank will be fine. You can access guild banks from any server now.
I am not sure if this applies between US and Europe but it seems that you are thinking of transferring within the US servers. By the way, you should only transfer if you want to do WvW with your friends. All other activities together can be easily managed now because of the megaserver.
I remember the refugee signs. I was new to the game then. I really didn’t understand any of it but I dutifully hammered in the signs.
I won’t forget those sonar things ever. They got nerfed, thankfully, because they were totally frustrating at first.
The Living World was a brave concept and we were so lucky to experience it at the time. It was tough though having a new event every two weeks and I was glad when they took a break so I could do the things I wanted to do – like puddle around exploring things. I will bet the developers were glad too. It must have been like a sweat shop churning out the new content so rapidly.

Help Cesseilia Defend and Research the Oasis – Bloodtide Coast Heart Quest.
There was a bug in this quest yesterday when one of my characters did it. The ingredients did not show in my panel.
I like it. Not sure if I will get it. My favourite is still the one that came with the Ultimate version of HoT. Can’t beat that lovely green smoke effect.
I would have liked a fiery phoenix too. I would buy that in a heartbeat. Still, the black and white dyed one looked nice.
Welcome Vyshe. You are right. It is a pretty special game. You just have to be disciplined while browsing the gem store (I’m not) and you will be fine.
This seems like a sensible solution and I hope ANet consider it or something similar.

Thanks for the explanation. I could actually follow it so you write well for the non tech types
It is depressing that the future looks so bleak for us GW2 Mac users. As I said earlier though, I can have a pretty good game by lowering my graphic settings down. It is certainly not ideal but I don’t want to bootcamp my Mac and I do want to play GW2. I actually have a PC laptop that runs the game smoothly but I prefer my Mac.
I have experimented lately in raising a few of the options to Medium and so far so good. I raised the character view (can’t think of the term) so now I can see people’s outfits again.
Perhaps lowering the graphics will not work for everyone or maybe is not acceptable to most. I fought it for a long time as it seemed so unfair. But, crashing over and over is no fun either and eventually I gave in.
Take it as a life lesson, OP and think twice next time you face a choice. Apologise to Customer Support if it makes you feel better but then move on. We all do things in life that we are not proud of. If this is the worst you ever do then you will be lucky.
Edit: just as Rose said
I agree. I am stuck now and can’t advance. I don’t do fractals or dungeons and that seems to be where most of the points are left (for me).
The silly thing is that I play the life out of this game. I have eighteen characters and all are L80. Twelve have world completion (two of them at the time you needed WvW) and those twelve have their elite specialisations. It’s not like I am slack. I am just not good at jumping puzzles or dungeons. So I don’t really have enough ways to earn the missing points. I did get out of my comfort zone. I ended up getting the Tequatl achievement and I did the Silverwastes jumping puzzle – things I didn’t think I would ever do – but I am stuck now. I can get a few more but it will not be enough.
I wish there was a way for us to gain the masteries through XP. I wouldn’t care if it was a thousand times slower but at least I would know I would get there one day.
Oh ok. Then I was right to start with
Have you had a forced name change for one of your characters before? If you have maybe they are not giving you any more chances. It is possible too that they have changed their policy and are no longer as lenient as they were before.
Yes please. I usually get such a surprise when the glider opens that I miss the jump. Well, that’s my excuse this week. A toggle would be lovely.
Here’s mine. Taken on my youngest character. Almost at three years for the oldest. Can’t wait for the present.
I misread.
You don’t get an option if they deem your display name against the rules. It just gets changed.
StarNightz is pretty nice though. You were lucky.

I have the mace. I haven’t used it yet but it is there waiting. I love the set. I wish I had more tickets to get some more.
I am surprised no one has answered this. I am no techy and I play on a Mac which also has horrible fps issues under certain circumstances. I turned my graphics options down to Best Performance and that solved most of the crashing issues. The graphics aren’t the best but it is better than that ‘wading through treacle’ feel and the inevitable crash. Maybe lowering your graphics will help even though it is not what you probably want to do.
You are on a PC though so you have a couple more options. My friend plays on a PC and she was also having trouble in HoT with severe lag. Her game was almost unplayable. Updating her graphics drivers helped her and so did switching over to the 64 bit version (if your computer can use it).
Good luck. I hope something works for you because it is a lot of fun in the HoT lands.
I imagine that if ArenaNet thought a test server was at all useful and the advantages outweighed the disadvantages, then we would have one. I doubt that ArenaNet is so altruistic that they would spare the players the anguish and the tedium of hunting down the bugs if there was any benefit in shifting the load onto willing and unpaid shoulders. The fact they they don’t have one could be that they are ultra secretive and want to hug it all to themselves, or they just don’t think it is worth the hassle.
I wouldn’t be deleting a L80 character
Servers don’t matter now that we have the megaserver. You could still be in their guild and still explore the world with them. You could do everything together except for WvW.
It’s wonderful. I am so happy that they have enabled it in the lands outside HoT. Now I can get much needed practice. One day I might be able to land on the head of a pin instead of missing that big wide ridge completely.
Now I need more glider skins. I only have three
I have my graphics set on “Best Performance” and it seems to stop most of the crashes. It means I only ever see the basic models of people – all those big pink/grey men – but my game runs fairly fast and I can fight the big bosses and not disconnect.
I have an IMac i7, by the way. It was top of the range when I bought it in 2012 but that doesn’t matter to GW 2. The Mac version is pretty bad at the moment and unlikely to improve much I feel.
Some Mac people have boot camped their Mac and play the Win version. It is heaps better I believe.
No, I don’t think they have forgotten about you. If you haven’t received a reply, and that might be just the automatic response that your query has been received, it might have gone into your Spam folder.
This is from the FAQ. I hope it is of some help to you.
Q: I haven’t heard back from the Support Team in 24 hours (or longer)! Did the Support Team receive my ticket? Should I submit another one?
A: Tickets are addressed in the order in which they are received, meaning if the Support Team is currently backed up due to large ticket volumes, waiting times may be longer than our target 24 hour response time. If you received an auto-reply from us after submitting your ticket, then the support team has received your ticket and you are in queue for assistance. No further action is required from you until you hear back from an agent. If you did not receive an auto-reply, please be sure to check your spam/junk/promotional/etc. folders, as the auto-reply may have ended up in there.
Blude has said elsewhere that he (or she) cannot afford HoT so there is a tinge of spitefulness in his (or her) wanting to deny it to the those who have paid for the expansion.
I agree. Very tempted.
The boots were a bit of a shock at first but they grow on you. I also like to think that Tyrians would have different dress sense than we do.
I believe free accounts can use the Trading Post but there are restrictions. You might like to check out this table which sets out the differences:
http://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT
If your friend was to buy HoT, then they could use the Trading Post after the five day waiting period was over.
I would like to see a pvp zone inside pve. It could be designed so that one can find rare and valuable resources. Make the zone lootable pvp even to cause nice action. Competition, we need competition.
Agreed but only if the competition could be who could build the highest wall around the pvp zone and keep them away from the rest of us
I believe Customer Support for GW2 is handling GW1 issues these days. I suggest you contact Support top left of page.
Yes, it’s a bug. There is a big long thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Wintersday-Tree-of-Generosity-Merged but I guess this will get merged with it.
I had the same problem and contacted Support and was told about the bug. They are working on fixing it.
