Although I don’t have the problems other Mac users seem to have – i.e. I can at least load the wretched thing – it is not a happy experience – and the inevitable crash will come no matter how many times I spin widdershins or how I hold my mouth.

ArenaNet has a visually pleasing game. The landscape has been lovingly created with colour and light and the water sparkles in the sunlight. The beauty lives in my memory only these days. To my IMac i7 the landscape is turned down to plain and dull.

You want me to shoot those things popping out of the ground for this event, ArenaNet? I would if I could see them but I cannot have long distance vision anymore. I can only assume those monsters are there because other people are shooting them. I am like Mr Magoo in game these days.

You know those fancy clothes people pay gems or hours of time to earn and then more hours to pay for the special dyes to get the right look. Wasted on me. All I see is just a big grey/pink man next to me.

I play on an IMac i7 with the best graphic card I could buy at the time but to GW2 these days I am the second class citizen, the leper, the one who bought the stupid computer that has no business playing games anyway.

Please ArenaNet, do the honest thing and stop advertising this game for the Mac.

I suggest you contact Customer Support. At least then you can rest assured that you have done the right thing and that the gems will not be taken out at an inopportune time.

Are you sure you transferred? You may have just guested.

I have transferred worlds a few times and the gems always get taken out immediately. Maybe you got lucky and got a freebie.

The above two posters are right but on a more basic level, you just double click on the glider skin when it is in your inventory and it will go into your wardrobe.

To use it, and after you have got to Level 1 (as IC said) you just step off a high ledge in the HoT area. The glider should open but you can press your space bar to open it, and space again to close it. You won’t be able to go far at first but you will get better as you train more in gliding.

I wish there was a way of re-distributing the bag slots amongst your characters. My first character has a lot of bag slots which she doesn’t need any more. I played differently in my early days of GW2 and I wasn’t too savvy about buying bigger slot bags back then. My younger characters don’t get any such luxury and have to make do with what the game gives them. It bothers me though to have all that space on one just going to waste

Well I am on a Mac but I have a Win version for backup.

My Win version is C: Program Files (x86) Guild Wars 2.

You should have put the 64 bit file in that folder. You can then create a shortcut on the 64 bit application and paste it to your desktop for convenience.

It is a phishing email. ArenaNet do not send emails warning you, they just close your account (if you are bad).

The Wiki is updated by players so for whatever reason, no-one has got around to doing it yet. I agree, it should not be so difficult to find answers to these sort of questions.

If you haven’t already, perhaps you should consider joining a guild. If you get into a decent one, there will be a tonne of knowledge there for you to draw upon. Another suggestion is to look for a mentor tag on your map – it looks like an apple. The person wearing the tag should be able to guide you and answer your questions.

I don’t think your mail is broken but just that your accounts are new. There seems to be a restriction on new accounts and mailing probably because of the gold sellers. I found this posting from a year ago but I assume it is still relevant.

I don’t know if this will help anyone but I was just able to do MAW without crashing and I have been playing about in the old areas without crashing for the past few days. These are my settings on an iMac, i7.

The graphics are pretty ugly compared to what it can do but I can live with them if if means I can play my Mac and not crash. The FPS is high because there are not too many players around. I also have names turned off.

Sounds good but I doubt if it would happen. Some people, me included, actually have purchased infinite gathering tools and copper fed salvage kits for all our characters. I hate having to remember to swap so I indulged myself. I would expect ANet to refund me if they made them shareable through a bag system.

ArenaNet has already introduced quality of play changes since I first started playing. The wardrobe system for instance which allowed us to share skins and dyes. They were generous then in refunding duplicate skins and dyes but I am sure they wouldn’t want to go through that exercise again.

My take is that this game charges no monthly fee so why shouldn’t they get money to support them where they can?

Well I guess they had to do something for all the out of memory bugs they had and, from what I have read, they cannot apply the same fix to the Mac product. Maybe, once they bed down the troubles for the Win crowd, they can work on the Mac to see what they can do. I live in hope.

I expect we are not a big part of their client base, but we would be the most grateful.

I don’t understand the OP’s complaint. Can’t you just ignore it if it does come back? It would make a lot of people happy if it did so that should give you a warm glow on their behalf

I poked my nose in it once and soon found out it was not my thing but I was able to move on and find other things to do.

Incidentally, OP, I believe its charm was because it reminded people of the old games. It was intended that way.

Aw that is horrible. There are some dreadful people around and sorry that you have met one of them in the game.

As far as I know, ANet do not involve themselves in any sort of guild politics or restoration. I do not have the words at hand but I have read other posts in the past with similar problems. I guess you should just wait for Support to get back to your friend but I wouldn’t be holding my breath on them making it right for you.

It might sound obvious and apologies if it is the first thing you did, but have you tried restarting your Mac. Mine sometimes can’t start GW2 and restarting it always helps.

I have 2 accounts. 16 on my main account of which 15 are L80 and the baby revenant is now L60. I also have a spare character slot which may get used when time dulls the horror of doing that bunny food heart again.

My other account has three L80s and a L3 (I think) Asura which will probably get deleted.

The finisher is account wide. The mini too as long as you don’t delete it with your character and put it in your wardrobe. The glider is also account wide. I can’t remember what else there is but you should be fine to delete her and start a new character. Just remember to take everything off her that is not soul bound and save it in your bank.

To be fair, the Forum Moderators are not developers and I am pleased that they deleted that rude person’s ignorant comment.

It’s the weekend and I doubt the developers are at work. I don’t know what else they can say that has not been said already, or at least until they have something concrete to offer us. They have acknowledged that the Mac version is bad. That is a step forward as far as I am concerned because (hopefully) that means they are obliged to make it better.

I think the best we can do is keep on nagging at them. Keep this thread alive and show them that there are a lot of unhappy Mac users that would like their game to work properly.

Aw that is a lovely thought. I haven’t actually tried the new zones yet but I am enjoying levelling up my Revenant and playing around with her skills. She is a lot of fun.

I forgot how pretty and how much fun the lower zones are and it is interesting watching the new players or reading the chat as they discover what a great game this is.

I suggest you wait until you hear back from Support or your account is released. There is a posting on here somewhere where someone did what you are proposing and they are still stuck with a suspended account. I am guessing it could complicate things even further.

El Capitan did not make any discernible difference to my game. It seemed neither better nor worse.

I have actually had a better game since the launch of HoT/Halloween on my Mac but I have the graphics turned right down low – which I really hate – and I have not tried the new HoT areas. I have just been puddling about in the low level areas on my new revenant. It is probably because those areas are not heavily populated at the moment that my game is stable.

I suggest keep talking to Support by replying to the email you were sent. They are probably very busy at the moment so may be slow in responding.

My understanding is that the keys are valid numbers but were bought by fraudulent means – stolen credit cards for example. ArenaNet accepts the key because they have no way of knowing otherwise. It is only when the payment is refused by the bank (because the stolen credit card was reported and all purchases stopped) that ArenaNet would know. This is why it can take several days. It is not a wise decision to buy from a cheap source. You end up hurting everyone involved, including yourself, and the only ones who profit are the thieves.

Edit: Yes, it is 23 October. On that day, your game should patch and you will have access to Heart of Thorns and be able to create the Revenant (if you bought the complete package but as you are new, I guess this is what you got).

Probably Twinspur Haven in Wayfarer Foothills, just because there’s a vendor, armour repairs, crafting stations and therefore bank access, all it’s missing is a mystic toilet and BL tading post, and I don’t need those very often; it has a wp so you can just jump there from anywhere, you don’t have to struggle through mobs or a jp to get there….

…but most importantly of all, you can totally afk there because there are no events, nothing’s gonna appear while you’re in the kitchen putting a quality snack together and kill ya LOL

I like Twinspur Haven too but I have been there when the Wolf Master has actually taken a shortcut right through. That was a few years ago and he was a champion back then. He disconcerted a few people at the crafting tables.

My favourite chill out place is probably my home instance in Salma. I usually stick around there for a minute or so I have finished my gathering for the day.

I vaguely remember something at the time of the wallet changeover that Anet said they could not implement the bank as well as the wallet. There were people back then who wanted the bank too.

Still, it never hurts to ask.

PS I have heard of people freezing real life credit cards in a block of ice to over-rule frivolous spending. They had to thaw it out to use it.

You could get WinAuth instead of choosing SMS. It is very easy to set up and use and you know your account will be secure. The messages will not go away if you do not secure your account one way or the other.

I can run it but it is not a pleasant experience and it is untrustworthy in that it can crash randomly. I now mostly play on a Win laptop and it is like chalk and cheese. I can relax with the laptop and not worry that I will have to reload if I look at the map or howl at the moon or whatever. I still remember the days when my Mac could play it just as well.

I really do think the honest thing for Anet to do would be to stop advertising this game as Mac compatible. I love the game and I love my Mac but they do not mix that well any more.

I have given up playing on my IMac. I have a little Win laptop that I now use.

Once it was just the boss fights or the zergs that caused me grief but, even then, lowering my graphics helped. Now I can’t even play around in quiet maps because my game crashes over and over. I guess I could lower my graphics but that is not acceptable to me. What with my ageing eyes and low graphics, I can’t see much at all.

My iMac is an i7.

I use a Mac and alt works for me.

Sorry if this is a dopey question but are you dragging the stuff to an empty slot in your bank? You have to do that while holding down the alt key and you should then get the option of how many to make the stack.

If you are doing all that, then it is probably your Razer keyboard and maybe someone else will come in with experience with it. I just use the normal Mac keyboard.

I don’t mind world completion and it is so much easier now without having to go into those WvW lands to get it, as I did on my first two. I have completed seven characters now and my other eight are in various stages of completion up to Mount Maelstrom onwards. I won’t talk about my second account characters because they are pathetic.

I mostly do it alone but I take it slowly and I am not too embarrassed to hang around some of the more difficult (for me) skill points until someone else shows up.

I am not much interested in a legendary so my world completion tokens are just gathering dust. Maybe one day I will want one, but for now, I don’t care.

Anyway, well done OP on sticking with it and getting through. You may not have enjoyed it but you have earned that legendary.
