That is a news announcement article from three years ago. They’re under no obligation to do anything with that or change it. There are plenty of news articles they’ve made that are no longer relevant. Should they retroactively go back and write on all the Living Story Season 1 announcements that ‘this event is no longer playable’? Of course not. It is a dated news article… It is still there as a reference, it’s not something they can be held to.

Not that that excuses their lack of support or acknowledgement of issues. But trying to hold three year old articles against them is ridiculous. That’s like trying to hold the original manifesto against them. Things change.

There is a camera option that changes the vertical positioning of the screen in relation to your character. Just tweak that so that your characters head is a bit lower than the crosshair.

I have a second question:

Considering that Skritts minds are linked, that’s how Skritts can increase their intelligence.
What happens if corrupted Skritts comes near the others? Do they link other Skritts to the Dragon?

I think there was a lore article stating that they don’t actuakly have linked minds, they can just talk incredibly quickly and quietly when they’re close together and so they seem more intelligent in groups because they can share their information in a way that no one else can hear.

I use an iMac and I’ve never really had a problem but now I can’t play anymore. The launcher icon on the toolbar says that GW2 is open, but the whole launcher login box is “invisible.” I can only see it if I’m in that mode that shows all of the open applications, and only if I scroll over a large blank space on the desktop it will highlight in blue “Guild Wars 2” (screenshot).

I’ll most likely never play again from the sounds of all this chatter. ._. yayyy. I’ve also tried re-installing, using different Wifi connections (in two diff states), and I get nada. It was crashing hardcore multiple times a day prior to HoT around when Beta weekend went out.

I wait all year for halloween and now I’m missing it. Disappointing.

Have you followed the above instructions on deleting the GW2 application support folder. That should fix the problem…

I do not have that folder… There’s nothing related to GW2 in my application support folder.. Which I find odd, and I’m pretty sure I’m looking the right place. I haven’t fiddled with it in the past.

There are multiple Application Support folders on your mac. There is one in the root library, one in the system library, and one in your user library. The user library is the one you need. Open Finder, go to your user folder (the folder with the name you use to log into the computer) then click ‘Library’, then ‘Application Support’. There’s a folder called ‘Guild Wars 2’ in there. Delete it.

Btw i was able to open the game and play WvW for a couple hours and even do some SW only to crash when Waypointing to Lions Arch.

I’ve made some changes to my config file (the one in the actual app folder, not library one) which made me able to run the game ok on my mbp late 2011 15"

These were my changes:

“VideoRam” = “1024”
“AGPVertexRam” = “512”

“VertexShaderHash” = “600”
“PixelShaderHash” = “600”
“MTD3D” = “0”

and i also added a line that is not originally in the file right under “MTD3D” = “0”

“sRGBInPixelShader” = “2”

Please let me know if you guys see improvements

I’ve actually got a new crash since last night that actually crashes the login process or something and sends me to system login screen to log back in and load everything back up. I’m beginning to wonder if all these GW2 crashes are somehow causing some serious system problem.

You need to be careful with those settings. They’re telling the program to use more VRAM and if your computer doesn’t actually have 1GB of vRAM it could be harmful. If you just have an intel graphics card then I would advise against tampering with those settings. If you have a discrete AMD or NVIDIA card then check how much VRAM it has and alter the setting accordingly.

I must’ve mentioned my spec’s more specifically. But yeah, I put my VRAM there and the line under i halved it.

You have mentioned your spec’s, I just think other people won’t realise that unless their specs are the same as yours it may cause problems and that they need to adjust the numbers accordingly. Any mac with an intel graphics card for example, doesn’t actually have dedicated vRAM, or at least not very much at all.

Currency exchange to USD when buying HoT?

No that’s normal. The website lists the price in USD and you therefore pay in USD, which means that whatever currency you use is converted.
I live in NZ and so I also had to pay 49.99 USD, which translates to 74 NZD (awful exchange rate >.>)

Your friends in Europe would have seen a price in euros on the GW2 website since they live in europe, and so they would have paid that euro price and not had to have any kind of currency conversion.

After the HoT release it’s completely unplayable. Constantly lagging, running very slow. I can play it only on Windows on my MacBook 2014.

Restarting? I’ve deleted any trace of the application, even in Library, tried to reinstall it and the client doesn’t launch. No word from ANet? This is infuriating.

As in turning your computer off and then on. Sometimes processes don’t quit properly and they prevent the GW2 client from running. Turning your computer off and then on again after deleting the GW2 application support folder would fix that.

Have you submitted a support ticket? They don’t respond directly to forum posts in Tech support (only very occasionally).

You’re only deleting the Guild Wars 2 application support folder. Not the entire application support folder. It doesn’t do anything to your apple preferences or any preferences outside of GW2. Deleting that folder just forces the launcher to rebuild itself. You’re not actually losing any game files or losing any important information.

As is the USD to NZD exchange rate. But you should never be purchasing the game from a non-authorised reseller. I’m pretty sure Arenanet lists the authorised sellers/partners for HoT somewhere on their website. If you purchase the key from anywhere else then it’s mostly likely attained through fraudulent means.

Simple question: When does the halloween event end? I’m in the final semester of my post-graduate honours degree at University and I’m incredibly focused on my dissertation at the moment. I’d like to play Halloween but I fear that it’s going to finish before I’m done for the semester (I finish on the 6th of November).
I assume that it’s just a two week release, in which case I’ll just go quietly have a cry in a corner somewhere Q_Q

Then you’ve fully entitled to ask for a refund. Submit a support ticked and they’ll most likely be happy to do so.

i want to play GW1 but to restart from scratch……..

So buy a new account? If support has said they can’t roll back or reset your account then there’s not much you can do?

However, you’ve already said that your characters have been deleted, so why not just play from scratch on your existing account? As long as you’ve changed the password on both it and your email you should be fine. Yes the HoM progression will still be there, but I assume that’s not too big a deal? It doesn’t stop you from doing the HoM stuff with new characters.

You’re sharing an internet connection on an intensive game. It’s really not surprising that whoever connects second gets issues. The fact that whoever connects second has a slower connection points to the issue being on your end. Your router is prioritising the connection that began first. You could fiddle with your router settings, though it may not make any difference. You could make sure you’re both wired into the router/modem. You could check that your ISP isn’t throttling your service.

Interesting how its a legal issue when my account was hacked…. Should this not also be a legal issue?

Being hacked online isn’t really a legal issue. If you were hacked then presumably it was by your own negligence (I don’t mean that as an insult, it happens.) either because your email account was compromised, your password was easily guessed, you gave out your information somewhere, or your information was obtained through malicious means such as malware or trackers.

Arenanet makes giving away or selling accounts against the ToS because it is incredibly difficult for them to police. What are they supposed to do if the original owner of the account decides to go back on the sale and starts complaining that the person they gave or sold their account to hacked them? Arenanet can’t play police in those kinds of situations and so its far easier of them to make it clear that if you are the owner of an account then you will always be the owner of that account.

You’ve clearly played GW1 a lot since you got 50/50. If you’re not going to be playing anymore then just leave the account sitting there. If someone else wants to play GW1 then they can buy their own account and support GW1’s continued running.

There are like 4 people in the US who own 4k. I’m sure they will spend their entire profit into pleasing those people. Just my 2 cent.

4K displays are increasingly becoming mainstream, even on a lot of laptops… What a poor attitude to have and a dreadful opinion. I don’t have a 4K display on my 4 year old computer, but when I next buy a computer chances are it may well be a 4K computer..

After waiting 12 hours nearly for the patch to complete (making the client open took a great amount of patience too) i crash within 10 seconds of map loading (SW)

Seriously…. words can NOT express how disappointed i am with this game.

Um. I hope you just patched your existing client instead of downloading the whole thing from scratch? 3GB shouldn’t take 12 hours to download :S

We know the Cider wrapper isn’t the greatest. One of the reasons we don’t tend to respond to a lot of Mac specific posts is because an overwhelming majority of them are shared with Windows users. I do want to assure you all that we are actively fixing bugs on all clients. Some are quick to fix, some take a fair bit of time. Please try to be patient and keep submitting those reports!

That’s simply not true. Look at all the issues mac users are having with trying to play HoT. These are not issues that windows users are facing. And yet you still aren’t responding or even acknowledging them.

Even if mac users face issues that are the same as those experiences by windows users. You still need to acknowledge the issues your customers are having. Otherwise it looks like you don’t even actually support mac users. Multiple times you’ve taunted us with “new mac specialists” who appear for a week or two and then disappear off the face of the earth. You’ve done a dismal job at supporting what is not a negligible player base.

I agree that bootcamp isn’t a solution. We’ve all paid for an account with access to a mac client and that access should be upheld. They actually need to address the problems when they come up.

However, in the mean time if anyone is able to bootcamp I strongly recommend it. They’ve shown they don’t really care about fixing the bugs in the mac client and so if you’re waiting for fixes you’re potentially waiting indefinitely

Have you already purchased extra character slots. The screen I got after activating the exp, says you may not receive thing s for which you have already reached your limit. The only thing on that list that could have been affected was slots.

The character slot limit is incredibly incredibly high. You can have 69 character slots. That’s incredibly expensive and I imagine less than 1% of players have the max number of slots.

Anyone else didn't get their character slot?

I would have expected them to do the final group on launch day. A little bit sad that they didn’t. Means I have to wait a bit to try the revenant out >.>

Yes I have the same when I fired up the launcher it seemed normal but when I got ingame everything HoT related was disabled and my key was revoked from my account.

Masteries are unlocked only after completing the first HoT story instance. So that’s not a good indication…

That popup on windows seven has to do with programs and administrator permissions. It won’t have an impact on OSX and can be gotten rid of by changing your permission settings in Windows.

For OSX. You need to try this:
you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.

Their account is an NA account. If they apply a HoT key to it it will remain an NA account and they will have to keep playing on the NA servers while they’re in Europe.
I can’t speak to the physical copy thing, but a digital copy shouldn’t matter.

These are issues that have been occuring since the mac client was released almost three years ago. So yeah, they’re aware of the issues. It just seems there isn’t much they can do about it, or that they just really aren’t willing to pay and have it sorted out. :/

You can absolutely do it. I’m not sure how it works with the whole US/EU server thing though. if you live in the US I would assume your friend in NZ is also on the US servers, in which case you won’t have a problem (I live in NZ and am on the US servers, I assume most NZ players are).

Because it would be expensive, and they haven’t determined that the trade-off in development resources would be better spent there than on developing new content.

I don’t know what kind of answer you’re expecting.

i suspect better performance in my gameplay and this DX9 is interfering with it.

Expectation is not entitlement. Just because you would like the game to perform better doesn’t mean that Arenanet is going to decide to pour the time, money, and resource into creating a DX11 client. The game is running on a reworked version of the GW1 engine, I imagine that making it DX11 compatible is a very arduous and costly process.

You’re supposed to jsut update your regular GW2 client, which it will do automatically when HoT releases on the 23rd. You can’t specifically download HoT. That’s not how it works.

It’s the person’s responsibility to know not to carelessly give their account information out as well. There was a very noticeable message at the bottom of the mail, the name for the GM looked conspicuously bot-like, the website was obviously illegitimate…

There’s really no excuse. This message could be made to flash constantly, pop up in your face, and people would still manage to find a way to fall for it. Arenanet is already doing enough to warn people— they can’t completely hold everybody’s hand, because unfortunately the people who fall for these ploys are people who don’t really understand what phishing is so it’ll inevitably happen to them at some point until they learn about it one way or the other.

For some people, all it takes is reading up online what it is or hearing from others but sometimes it takes someone to actually mess up and lose something before it sinks in. Everybody’s different in that regard.

Yes people have a responsibility not to be stupid and give away their account information carelessly. However, not everyone has the same knowledge or gives the same care when these things happen. So lots of people fall for it, and it isn’t because they’re stupid or careless, they just don’t know what things to look out for and they panic. Hacked accounts impact EVERYONE negatively. I think its important for Arenanet to minimise how often this happens to try and make sure that gold sellers are kept out of the game and aren’t given opportunities like this to hack peoples accounts.

You could very easily argue that people shouldn’t be able to send mail in game like this or use certain words that clearly suggest some sort of scam is being conducted. I would also question why they’re able to put a URL in in-game mail. That seems idiotic. If someone needs to send their friend a website then do it out of game or do it via a whisper. Links or web addresses shouldn’t be able to be sent within a GW2 mail.

I don’t think server populations are based on how many people are actively playing inside it at that moment, it’s based on the total number of accounts that have that server as their home server. Checking it constantly isn’t going to help you. If it is full now it will stay full for a long time.

The megaserver system means that in PvE it doesn’t actually matter what server you are playing on. Everyone plays together and you can play with anyone from any other server. Your server only really has an impact on World vs World.
