One thing I noticed is that they’ve also seemed to add coloured boarders to items, showing their rarity
That’s been there for ages.
So when is this mysterious coverage fixing update coming?
I recall Arena Net saying back in 2013 January that they’re actively working on Precursor Hunt, more than a year, still nothing, and Arena Net admitted that it’s not their priority.
How is the better question no one has given any good suggestion beyond “stop counting ppt when i log off.” There just maybe no real fix and just a flaw of an RvRvR system.
People have given a ton of different solutions.
For instance, if they simply made it so that you get points for capturing an objective rather than holding one, WvW would change dramatically and night-capping would become far less of an issue since you wouldn’t have servers ticking for 400+ on off-hours.
WvW is still very active so most ppl are not unhappily. And even if they where unhappily as you say shocking them with new changes maybe atone to giving a starving person lots of food (it will kill them). You must do things slowly or you will lose every thing about wvw that make wvw important to ppl.
Shocking them with new changes… lol. I’m referring to basic stuff people were asking for almost 2 years ago in the first beta weekend. Not just a couple people asking, but a very large number of requests.
I think I’d be dead in real life before changes in the game would kill anyone.
Ya that a real point of view….
Any way there has been a lot of things asked for added to wvw they may of just not been your ideals or the ppl you know ideals. To say changes Wxp to account vs hero bound means that every one is about to have well over 100 level in wvw added a lot of power to every sieges wepon in the game making def over all harder to pull off in both from an attk stand point say attking a wall or door and from a starving stand point supple gas and traps. To say give everyone one thing that may seem harmless at first can end up being very harmful to the over all system and how ppl see wvw. These things must be tested by a great deal. Say if you did make commander tag account bound this means more tag in the field more confusion for the “PUGs” and more conflict between commanders. Over all it will be more aimless then aim when it comes to having tag account bound. What else is there that you posted on let say showing what guild clamed what by name or showing up on the maps well how do you show this do you make the icon show up on the map? If so what do you do about ppl who take a camp and clame it and then remove that ckittenoon as they take another leapfrogging there clames as most real wvw guilds tend to do. Soon you map will be spammed with confusion of who owns what and there will be lots of rages that cant be realized by the player base in wvw (knowing about something dose not mean you can DO something about it).
I get that stream of consciousness works for some people, but I personally find a lot of your posts to be nonsensical ramblings.
The use of grammar and formatting goes a long way.
I’d recommend any profession besides Ranger and any race except Charr (the clipping is awful).
(edited by Flytrap.8075)
Another good idea that will sadly never see implementation.
The devs aren’t genies. They can’t crap an update out of thin air. Have patience! They already have their hands full with thousands of suggestion from all aspects of the game. It takes time to put things into place.
Patience? We’ve been waiting since the game was in beta for things that are essentially basic updates. Meanwhile, in PvE land, they get new content every two weeks.
It’s simply ridiculous at this point. #priorities
I’m sure devon is putting a lot of love into it and fiercely lobbies for us
I wouldn’t go that far.
Oh Ahmrill, still fighting the good fight. :P
I’ve given up. It’s not even just because it’s been requested so much, for so long, nope! The last straw was the insulting CDI threads which were only meant to pacify and give false hope.Pretty much resigned that changes players would like to see aren’t going to happen. That time has passed and many WvW focused players have left and moved on.
I blame the state of this game entirely on Scarlet and the ever-wonderous Living Story.
Completely agree with you. The “lack of developer transparency and communication” rings true as well. We want substantial features and bugs addressed in WvW, not new content.
Fix the meat and potatoes of WvW first. A functional and flexible C&S system, skill ability lag, bugs and exploits.
Your sentiment might be very true during the first half year of a game’s lifetime, but certainly not almost two years later. New actual content that isn’t an overflow map is long overdue.
You will not recruit new players or make old ones return with bug and lag fixes. They generate zero publicity. What WvW needs right now is a reason to log in.So true. Most of my guild stopped logging in, they lost interest in WvW. I’ve been advocating for a private/guild only squad system to allow our guild to organize the way WE enjoy. It’s all moot now. After almost 2 years of suggesting, we barely have over a group in WvW most nights now.
My guild has the same issue; we only run a group on reset (and even then, it all depends on how many people happen to log on) and maybe one other day of the week.
It doesn’t help that we’re on HoD and that the majority of our population are PvE karma train kittens; mad props to [Inc] and [Fin] for breaking the mold.
Comedy Gold, I’m glad someone dug this Gem up. If there was ever any doubt about how little they care or the lack of attention given to WvW vs. every other aspect of the game this post from Devon should put that to rest.
You can’t really blame Devon, he’s probably handcuffed with the resources and devs allocated. It’s more of a fail with NCsoft and Anet general lead. They have a game plan and revenue model and unfortunately it doesn’t include meaningful WvW updates.
I’d prefer him saying exactly that to “LOL SOON JK NOT REALLY HERE’S A BALL TO BOUNCE”.
Or, better yet, I’d prefer radio silence instead of meaningless teasing and carrots on a stick.
Let’s just kill the Living Story so we can finally get some meaningful updates.
EotM is a PvE karma train map where you happen to have the ability to kill other players.
Sure, the map looks nice, but the gameplay is very lackluster.
Incase you were wondering my current goal is 80 characters with one character for each class race and gender combo
I just threw up in my mouth.
I currently have five 80’s and I can’t imagine leveling another; the grind to 80 is just so dull.
It blows my mind that ANet still hasn’t realized that WvW is a major selling point for their game.
But no, let’s focus on Scarlet instead.
There are no changes to commander tags in this feature pack. In the future, were we to switch them to account bound, we would provide some notice ahead of time, as well.
Feature patch 2016 baby.
Anyone arguing in this thread obviously never played GW1. PvP in GW2 is a disaster, a massive disappointment to all those who played GW1 competitively.
GW1= eSport
GW2= CasualCasual = Money
end of story.
I do miss HA, GvG and even AB which felt a little like WvW does.. even had more organisation and skill in it.
I really do miss the PvP in the original Guild Wars.
You’d think that ANet would want to emulate it based on its popularity, but I guess Scarlet was more tempting. #priorities
So what your saying is that there is GvG but you do not like it. I am sry not every one likes the same things as you do and most ppl who do GvG in OS realty likes it most ppl who watches it realty likes it to i am sry not every one is like you. In fact its the thing to watch on twitch it may not be crazy numbers but there is a community behind GvG in OS to the point that you have players from NA jumping to EU to test them self and with the new worlds coming into play soon (Asian i am not sure what to call it) you will see even more ppl use OS to GvG.
I can’t speak for every guild that GvG’s, but most that I know of are not that happy with OS. Matches are easily trollable, only one can take place at a time, and the map can even get queued.
I think it’s awesome that the Guild Wars 2 community has done so much to continue GvG’s from the original Guild Wars. However, a community-managed replacement is not in any means a be-all-end-all and the Obsidian Sanctum solution is simply a Band-Aid fix.
I hope that when Guild Halls launch (if they ever do), ANet will implement an official GvG functionality. I mean, it’s been one and a half years since launch… let’s pick up the pace.
GW1 was not an MMO – EVEN A.Net said it was a CORPG -look at the FAQ on the Guildwars.com website. It was a Co-Operative RPG, not an MMO and (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game -which GW2 is but GW1 is not because there was a max of 12 players in your map and every group had their own copy of the map – think a more advanced Diablo 2).
Why does it even matter?
You’re just splitting hairs for the sake of argument.
Playing for PPT is just a nice way of saying that you like beating your face against a door all day.
AR is one of the most ridiculous traits in the game, and even after the nerf, it’s still pretty strong.
Engineers will still be in a good place.
People have been asking for official GvG functionality since the game was in development.
ANet probably won’t include it until Guild Halls are launched, and to be honest, it seems highly unlikely that this will ever happen.
Let’s see the balance team’s pie charts!!!! Grouch, you don’t count.
Had my image ready and everything.
I feel bad now…UPLOAD AWAY GROUCH!!
Yay!
Is it possible to make the color differences between Engineer, Ranger, and Necromancer more noticeable?
Engineer vs. Necro has enough distinction, but once you throw Ranger into the mix, it’s just ugly. This has bugged me since beta >.>
These dev quotes are absolutely priceless.
And that is why we are pretty kitten glad that Bags left SBI.
If only you knew how excited we are to see our beloved friends on SBI tomorrow
I’m suprised you’re still QQing about us siege griefing you. For your info, we siege griefed our own server, SBI, a whole lot more than we siege griefed YB. We did this to our own server on a daily basis. siege capping the map.
It’s beautiful.
Chris likes to think that he’s the local authority on all things related to WvW.
Miss ya guys too, is beth and iLL still around?
Yes, but who the kitten is Beth?
As I said above, we will address these, ideally, by the end of the year. The rewards will be better and the numbers will be less crazy town. There will also be some changes coming sooner than that that will go some length to addressing the imbalance in terms of total achievement points in WvW compared to PvE.
This made me laugh.
Why is it that people feel warriors are so kitten OP.
Because they are.
OP: “Let’s remove any and all nuances that remain in this game”.
How about no.
I have a dream that, one day, every man, woman, and child that sets foot in WvW may claim the title of Yakslapper as their own.
I wish the difference between the Ranger green and Necromancer green was more… distinct.
This is my guardian and main character. A bit unorthodox, but as long as he’s happy…
He’s beautiful
Expect this in the 2016 Feature Patch.
I’m just going to say that I started playing on day 1. In that time I’ve seen ONE person with a WvW title and it was a thief with Yakslapper. I should have taken a screenshot. Needless to say I was impressed at his commitment.
I don’t believe you.
Alright enough flaterring yourself dude, YB and EBay didn’t just make a truce. If it was just that the match would be way more closer and EBay would have zero chances at second place.
Here’s the truth: Since reset, EBay and YB had all their teams focused on SBI. Which is still fine, then as week progresses YB used spies, siege griefers, mesmer portaled zergs into citadel to destroy omegas and even worst manipulated the match uos scores. How? By giving EBay their own BL towers, keeps for free and throwing YB zergs into EBays so EBay could stomp for PPT. This is the scummy moves I was reffering to the other threads, so like I said, dont flatter yourself.
Its no counsidence both of your servers lost a vast amount of players after leagues, karma is a kitten isn’t it
Coming from someone who was a memmeber of [bags] this bs is great. Keep it up mate.
I think the whole alliance idea was idiotic, but considering that most of of the spying/siege griefing was done by [bags] and the whole drama started due to them destroying siege/supply, your post is hilarious. Keep it up.
Coming from someone who knows almost nothing about [Bags], this BS is great. Keep it up mate.
I think your whole post was idiotic, especially considering that the spying / siege griefing was done by one member of [Bags] on their downtime and they stopped once they got bored. I guess the whole drama you’re blowing out of proportion was all because of one measly troll. Anyway, your post is hilarious. Keep it up.
P.S. – I miss you Nacho! <3
Please ANet?
Pretty please?
Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Yet another reminder that ANet teased “amazing changes” for Ranger a few months ago yet said amazingness is still MIA.
Keep in mind that ANet only performs balance changes every 3-4 months, and we’re actually right on schedule since the last balance was December 10th. Not justifying the speed that balance rolls out or anything.
Meaning that, because this thread was started a few months back, in between those dates, the reality is that between this thread and the CDI, the earliest we would see any progress coming from either thread would be around July or August even, at the earliest.
Keep in mind that ANet’s last balance update was in November because they wanted to focus on the Living Story and did not want to distract or confuse players.
Yet another reminder that ANet teased “amazing changes” for Ranger a few months ago yet said amazingness is still MIA.
Try learning your community. Back in my day we had to memorize phone numbers to call people we talked to regularly. There are around 90 guilds that play WvW regularly on my server. I know the leaders of over half of them and the symbols for at least a couple dozen. It is call familiarization and memory try using it.
That’s a cool story. Did you find $5.00?
In all seriousness, memorizing every single guild on my server and their respective emblems is not a feasible task, especially considering the fact that someone could always create a new guild and that pretty much everyone is capable of claiming a WvW site.
The Living Story concept is not a terrible idea; however, the way ANet chose to implement it most definitely was flawed.
All we got were PvE zergfests with a laundry list of uninspired, dry achievements. A few things here and there were done well, but the majority of it was just bland and lost its luster a day or two after patch day. Not to mention that this content was completely temporary and is forever gone now.
I understand that they are planning on doing another round of Living Story, and hopefully they learn from their past mistakes, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
I see all the complaints about new permanent content. You know what is funny. There are some in the community, I don’t have numbers and only know of the ones I talk to but with how large the community is I assume there is more, really enjoy the way the content is done. There is something going on all the time when the LS is going.
Some of the LS stuff I don’t like, some I do, but there is always something going on and it is fresh. They go in and add new permanent content and within a month it is stale and been done. That is what permanent content gives us, something to go stale. Then you know what happens, all of you that complain about wanting new permanent content come right back here and do it is again.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I would like to see new zones, some new dungeons that stay in game, but the point I made above is going to be the same. I hope they do add some permanent content in the second LS, I hope things change with the existing zones, but don’t say drop the LS, cause the moment they do that, then we have long periods with stale content while we wait.
The majority of the Living Story after Zephyr Sanctum was a long period with stale content in my eyes.
TLDR: Drop the Living Story and start delivering new, permanent content.
To be honest, I’m actually amazed we get any new content at all in a non-subscription game. I’m really surprised they didn’t just make GW2, leave it as it was, and all started working on GW3.
You all act like this game is a charity and that ANet and Co. give us things out of their kindness of their hearts.
The truth of the matter is that the Gem Store exists for a reason and it’s extremely naïve to act like they’re not profiting from the player-base.
(edited by Flytrap.8075)
The API shows the guild that claimed an objective. View a live map that uses the API on the mos.millennium site or gw2score. There might be some overlays that show that information as well.
This is not an acceptable answer.
The fact that you need to use a third party in order to figure out such basic information is super annoying and inconvenient.
We’d really like to do things like that to make guild claims more visible, but it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon as all our resources are working on more pressing priorities at the moment.
Kitten you Scarlet.
No no no this is an awful idea. My guild can field 60+ players on reset night. We already almost que a map dropping it down to 45 to even 60 means that my guild alone will que a borderland and we will be leaving a few of our members our. Leave it how it is if you don’t like giant zergs run 2 20 man zerg busting groups and hit the zerg at the same time its that simple.
Sounds like a personal problem.
Personally, I’d love to see ANet come up with a way to discourage massive omniblobs. That being said, I don’t think this idea is the right way to go about it.
TLDR: Drop the Living Story and start delivering new, permanent content.
Short answer: Nothing.
Long answer: Rewards that you could get by doing anything else unless you want a specific armor / weapon skin, and even then, you can get those through sPvP when the feature patch launches on April 15th.
Can we get some more armor skins that you can obtain through actual gameplay rather than swiping your credit card before we come up with some grand scheme for Legendary armor?
That’d be great.
We’ve seen a lot of feedback regarding the commander system and what to add to it next, so keep the constructive feedback coming!
Observation indicates that enhancements to the commander system are an inverse function of feedback.
E = 1/F
To quote Flytrap.8075, “Still waiting babycakes.”
I imagine that we still have a lot of waiting to do or else they would have thrown it into the feature patch.
I’m so glad that we got a year and a half of Scarlet! #priorities
Feature patch 2016 baby!
I can imagine the blog post already.
There are so many clipping issues in the game already, just freaking add capes. I don’t care if the cape clips halfway into my body, just gimme one already.
Pwease?
