If they just gave ascended armor the ability to change stats OOC and maybe add some cool visual effects or even the ability to change the look of it that would be enough to make it worth grinding out as a PvE player without having to add stat bonuses.
Why do PvE players need stat bonuses? It’s not like ANY PvE content is so hard that you’ll need it.

I don’t really think a reward for giving boons and heals is necessary in WvW. If you’re running a build that focuses on support, the incentive to do your job is so the group you’re running with doesn’t wipe.
Thats a terrible logic. Heck, by that logic no one should ever get rewards:
“Damage dealers shouldnt receive rewards because by killing stuff they prevent them from reaching allies and thus killing them, allowing for everyone to win”.
Sure, in that case it is different because damage is the prerequisite for getting loots, but if you decide to roll a boon/healing/shout guardian then you might as well give up on ever being able to buy anything because you wont be getting jack squat for rewards other than “satisfaction” from winning, which is completely mutually exclusive from getting in-game rewards.
@OP: I agree with you, I have always played healers in most games, I run a zerker guardian but I wish to run a healing/boon one, problem is: I tried it and got no loots, no exp, barely made enough damage to tag champions in keep, etc. As unrewarding as resupplying and defending; incredibly strong and useful, completely and uncalled for unrewarding to the point that I have to join the zerg out of boredom/lack of gold.
Though I can see how this can be abused by some people who would just sit on the back spamming some AoE boons on the front lines just to collect bags, out of harms way and possibly using boons when not needing them, making them go to waste instead of when it matters just for the sake of ‘tagging’. I highly doubt anything will be done about given Anet history of simply not caring for support archetypes too much, specially the well-hated healers.

No matter how you look at it, there is no denying; a server with greater numbers is very likely to be the winner for the most part, except for the weird case that the big server is totally clueless and the small server is super superiosly uppersly organized….and even then a big blob of chicken zergling can defeat a well organized group just by sheer numbers. That, is demoralizing. Also, there is absolutely nothing stopping a big server to be organized on top of having the number necessary to accomplish their goal. Like I said, I was ok with WvW being uneven, unbalanced matches, since at the end of the day it was just for the fun of it. When you make it a “sport” and give rewards based on performance, then you have an issue. Like everyone else has said in the thread; a sport should have equal footing if you are going to impart an unequal reward based on the assumption that everyone had an equal chance at getting said rewards
The winners were already decided before the league even started, all this league has done is reinforce the players hemorrage and demoralization of servers such as mine which has ranked 21-23/24 for the last 10 months. Something has to be done about this, as a community we have tried it all, from rallying and trying to recruit back people who left to other servers, setup server wide TS including all major and some minor guilds, commander training, meetings on reset, WvW events and rallies. It is demoralizing knowing that no matter how hard you try, you will be facing an opponent who has done the same thing….but has 2x or 3x your numbers.

Well, you cant make such a vague question such as that without providing a scenario. Example; guardians are really strong in clashes, they tend to be able to bring a lot of utility to the team and themselves with different weapon/traits, depending on gear. Yet, there is absolutely nothing more useless than a guardian in full zerker set in a fort raid, their lack of range makes them virtually useless except for the scepter #2 or maybe staff #3.
Another example is elementalists; sure they are amazing behind a giant zerg, but put a an ele in a setting with less than 5 people and you are giving the enemy a free bag.
Overall, nothing is all that bad, but if anything, my vote goes to playing staff ele in anything that isnt a zerg ball, you are just asking for a spanking.

Perma ability to reset fights and run away is pretty much, in the right hand, 100% immortality, specially when they can make an attrition war last forever until you die or they simply walk away.

16.5k (s) self buffed WvW, on lvl 80s…..goes to show “balance”
So how hard would you suggest a backstab should hit with 20 stacks of might, in a build that focus 90% around landing the first backstab, blowing all utilties, geared with full ascended berserk?
I think 16.5k is fine when someone isn’t equipped with toughness.
Since with some toughness and the protection buff it would take it down to 10k, with invulnerability 0. Someone can prevent getting hit at all by a build focusing 90% (the other 10% for casting 1 more cloak and dagger or 2 heartseekers) around hitting the first 2 attacks thanks to invulnerability and blocks, should invulnerability and blocks be nerfed?Also by turning at the right time, it would take down that 16.5k to 8250,
with protection and some toughness even down to 5k in that case,
that’s 28% of warriors base health! and the hammer can deal overkill dmg with 2 strikes on that thief.I would be happy if I could turn my front to the elementalist hitting me 10k to take 5k,
or turn my front to the warrior eviscerating me for 15k to take 7.5k dmg.the video would be 4 times as long if it included all the footage of him getting two shotted and insta-gibbed with that glassiest of glass-cannon builds.
but it isnt, because unlike most thieves, he isnt a bad player and knows how to use stealth, blinds, teleports and above all; common sense…… things that your average Joe thief player cant do and hence they think their class is “bad”
Wanna play a profession on tribulation mode? Try elementalists with full zerker, with no stealth, clones, aegis, mobility, heals, disengage on lower than 40 seconds CD and with cantrips on 70 to 90 secoinds CD for skills that other professions have on <30 secs CD, then come here again , we will all accept your apologies

The kicking leader is probably the only thing I disagree. The main reason why I havent been kicked out of a Arah run this far is because I make sure Im always the one opening the dungeon, ( I have seen a 2 man team inside my own party kick a player before and get someone who paid them to get em in at the end, of course I frown upon these things and make sure to report, though I have no power over that as you only need 2 people to do that and totally screw that other person)
What DOES need to change is the part that a leader cant exit the dungeon because he opened it. I like to park my low lvl characters outside dungeons to share exp at the last boss and I cant do it when I open the dungeon.
Never had a 2 instance merged in my life, so no idea.
Soulbound story mode dungeon DO need to go ASAP, first priority, as a guy with several alts, Im already fed up with doing every. single. story. mode. on. every. single. character……..

I think that the steal function needs to be completely redesigned and the stealth access needs to be equal for all medium armor classes (either less for thieves, more for rangers/engineers, or a combination of more and less).
Thief survival should come from evades, not stealth.
And then we would be having a forum discussion on how Thieves have too many evades and its impossible to land an attack.
Timing evades requires player skill, especially against human opponents. Plus you can still see them which prevents them from simply resetting the fight if you gain the upper hand.
There will always be people who dislike a change, but people complaining about how they got outplayed by a guy who effectively timed evades shouldn’t be used as a reason to prevent good changes.

Currently working on my second legendary, must say that precursor is a pain, specially since Im now going for the most expensive one (750-800 gold , been up to 850). Im sure the prices will drop after scavenger comes, (i hope). It is a pain, but with the new rewards to dungeons and champion bags, I must say I feel it a lot less, since I can legitimately ‘farm’ my way there while feeling im getting somewhere (I hate RNG)

Thieves got a couple special attributes, not just Initiative. Thieves special attributes are :
- Initiative
- Dual Weapon skill #3
- Sneak attack that replaces skill #1 while in Stealth
- And of course, the as usual profession specific F1 skillPlease note that the 3rd special attribute of the thief class is inexistent without stealth.

That’s my gut feeling, especially since they’re removing Glory as a currency and replacing it with gold. I honestly don’t know how it’ll work with things like dungeon armor (especially after the Flamekissed armor fiasco), but if it provides a way for us to store our existing armor skins and create copies (possibly with Transmutation Stones) as needed, it would be a fantastic QoL update.

What if they changed Revealed so that it only makes thieves visible and indirectly targetable, while still otherwise treated as in stealth for backstab and traits, and then make it last much longer (30s or so). Then, since stealth is really the Thief’s main mechanic, you could convert the Thief’s special attribute to reduce Revealed length rather than Steal cooldown.
Or maybe you might think about the fact, that Thief’s special attribute has nothing to do with stealth – it might be a hint that stealth is not being considered this class main mechanics.

Stealth isnt thieves’ mechanic, it is simpl an enhanced tool they have, their mechanics are highest amount of teleports in the game, (also, they have highest amount of blinds in the game too and also very high evade uptime, specially with the new buffed initiative)

Agreed an ingame feedback system could be very beneficial. I’m not sure how it was done during the beta…
But I think that the feedback prompt could be triggered once you complete a meta and it can ask you to rate what parts you liked and didn’t like and include a textbox for added feedback if desired. I don’t think it would be too harmful, they can try it a couple times and if turns out to be a good solid way to gain feedback they can keep doing it.
As people said not everyone uses the forums and even with those that do use the forums typically people post what they don’t like, what they wish were changed, or what they don’t want to see again. Sure there are some posts about what they enjoyed, but there could be one post about how they really liked A and 15 posts about how they hated B, C, & D

It seems that half of your post was crying about “they better not get real cool rewards”. The server I’m on (NSP) is looking at coming in next to last, Do a lot of people care? No. We spent this season taking on populations much larger than ours and it has done nothing but make us better. You can either transfer servers or help your server get better – it’s up to you.
Actually, our server has rallied up a bit, we set up a server-wide TS, got all big guilds into it, we even use it as our main communication channel. It isnt that we arent organized, it isnt that we arent trying, it isnt that we need to give moral to the troops. When even the best of your efforts end up in outmanned EB and own BL, closed temples, closed dungeons, LA without overflow, yet a server with a “very high” population, you know that something i wrong. Also, please, your server is 15/24, we have been consistently 21-23/24 for the last 10 months, no matter how much you try, you will never understand how pitiful this is until you transfer here and suffer it on your own skin.
Sorry if I come out all pitiful and what-not, but it is really frustrating to see my server dying and not being able to do anything about it. Should I have to reduce myself to leaving my server, my guild, my pride, all for a chance for fairer fights? Why should anyone have to go through that sacrifice? Is it too much to ask to have some incentive for big guilds to move to our server? Like say; free tickets for guilds in big servers to move to lower servers, or rewards for getting underdog servers out of their misery and into high tier server? Is it too much to ask to try to make things fair, specially when a one-time thing is being given as reward as opposed of just doing it for pride and fun?!

I think that you are taking the wrong attitude to towards this new content. Form what I understand, the new map will work on an overflow system based on server colours. Which could mean that most of the time the map should be evenly populated for all colours and there for less population disparity between opponents, which sounds like the kind of environment that you are after.
I would suggest that instead of seeing a proposed release and thinking to your self how will this adversely effect you, you could consider what advantages this could give you.
Once again, you didnt understand my point. This map was created, as you noted, to deal with queues. But her eis the thing; I havent had a single queue in nearly 10 months, except for a 3 minutes queue the first day of the league, and I wouldnt even count it tbh. What this map will do is without any questions; split playerbase on already desolated lands. Worst case scenario, the new map is completely empty after the initial rush to try it our wears off, since it adds nothing to the score of your server. Imagine beign paired agaisnt a server (HoD) who is allegedly on queue constantly. They would get to play the map AND have full servers doing their stuff on the main map. Meanwhile our server wouldnt even fill the first overflow, leaving subsequent overflow completely empty of our server.
No matter how you look at it, no matter how many sweetners you want to put on it, there is absolutely no other scenario for empty servers like mine but to suffer from even more empty maps, and loopsided matches. Seriously, if you cant understand that then you are probably in the wrong thread.

I understand that WvW is not supposed to be balanced, but the only reason i was able to deal with that was that; no matter how much of a loopsided fight was, they didnt really gain anything substantial. Fights were for fun, skirmishes would break out every now and then. Duels would not end up in stomping for points.
Now? You are introducing rewards as if it were an “sport”, but something that makes sports enjoyable is the equal footing principle. Nobody would watch a football game if the game was an 11 vs 99, where the team with 89 member each carried a ball per every 11 players.
Either they need to euqal out the footing per server , or equal out the rewards. And no, it isnt about “everyone is a winner”, it is because the moment you treat your costumers like crap and give them the scraps, they turn their backs on you and never look back at the failure of a “league match”. Plain and simple.

Forum and ingame wouldnt be too different… In any case, thats why i included some restrictions, like hours played (perhaps a 1500+ would be a good baseline, considering most people can get a grasp of the game around that much time) and history in the game (call it ‘experience’ if you will) of being here since release. It would reduce uncertainties and allow for better, more in depth results.

How do I assume most people dont know about the forums? Because every time I say something that have been on the website/forum top for quite a few days, like a patch or new big time releases, most people ask me: “where did you get that info?!?!?!” and I answer :“well the forums of course”….. and then comes the silence/small chat about it, and to them it almost feels like an entire new entity for them, as if they had to go through some complicated web of complicated steps and websites, then sign up for an entirely different thing, figure it out how to work it and then be afraid of it.
We need more ingame feedback.

Like Beta, I remember we had a feedack system which measured fun, engagement, difficulty, allow for a short text feedback, etc etc. Only available for people who have played a certain hours threshold and who signed up since beta or something.
I can guarantee you a lot of serious feedback, feedback that you cant get in a forum since only a small portion of the population even knows it exists. It would even delete a lot of uncertainty about why people do certain content (ie: doing a LS event for the rewards instead of the intrinsic reward, or buying certain item, etc etc)
Of course, results would be kept private and would not affect accounts negatively (or positively) in any ways, only for the betterment of the game!

@op: Nobody cares about the AP ranking, if you arent the first, then nobody cares…at all. Sorry to break it down to you. (some people dont even care about he #1). All the rankings are used is to see which one is that person with the highest [achievable] AP score and see how far away from it you are.

With the introduction of the new WvW map which eliminates the main reason why people dont completely transfer to a more populated server, whats the excuse players in the bronze, losing servers have to not transfer to a more populated server?
Should I keep enduring the player hemorrhage and join the leak or is Anet planning to do something about any time soon?! The rewards better not be really all that different at the end of the league, because if i see that a zerg-server gets enormous rewards just by sheer population and that I missed [given ANet skins and rewards history] probably the only chance to get really cool looking stuff (which is the main point of ‘rewards and advancement’ in this game) then I will have no choice but join the [boring] train and also jump servers, leaving my already devastated and desolated server to even worse ruins.
Anet, Im warning you, this is not healthy for anyone, either give us a “WvW home server” second server option or start merging servers, I love my server and guild but being the lone man vs a zerg of 50+ is not fun.

I dont want to start an zerker vs crappy equipment argument, but it really bothers me seen an necro/engi with their PvP set in my dungeons runs…… specially if there is more than one….
Yes, thats the main reason people are so afraid and hate getting those classes (and why nobody asks for them) in dungeons, is because, sadly, some people still use PvP sets on PvE enviroments.
Leave the current things as it is, conditions are insanely efficient in PvP, if you are going to make these threads then at least make power based builds as strong in PvP or learn to have 2 armor sets like everyone else
Also, if you want to make precision affect condition, then you have to also get affected by toughness and armor. Right now conditions are incredibly overpowered vs non-vitality stackers because if you have a base health of 11k (eles, guardians, thieves) then conditions will literally burst you down. My biggest problem with condition is that unlike power/pres/crit, you also get access to good defensive stats like toughness and vitality from traits and equipment, THATS SO UNFAIR FOR POWER BASED BUILDS that you simply have no idea, so no, you cant have god mode with conditions, learn to deal with its drawbacks, which are considerably less than a power build

I usually dont like to get myself in these topics, but even I, a heavy roleplayer, agree with having race change in the game.
Immersion is subjective: I find sex change as much of an “offense” as race change, yet we have one but not the other. I find having more pink bagpacks a giant waste of ‘resources’ as compared to introducing dueling in the game which is long overdue (and no, sPvP does not count, open world PvP is what has been asked too many times to be able to count it at this point)
If something this demanded and with a analog (sex change) already in game, but it is missing, then it is either Anet being lazy and missing out on potential $$ or being held back by roleplayers (very unlikely, I highly doubt anet cares too much about us, in fact they seems to be able to go to the extend of closing roleplaying spots such as human town on the instance, they went as far as putting invisible walls to fix a ‘bug’ yet CoF invisible balls are still bugged since months….at that point you can take it as a personal attack to us roleplayers)

I was all for having no more than 1 big PvE server, perhaps even 3-4 “channels”, and then being able to pick a “WvW server”, butwhat about if we do this;
Now there will be 9-12 WvW servers, which you can pick apart from PvE Server.
This would condense the population, and make up for a little more populated matches. As a member of a ghost server I can say I did NOT enjoy WvW as much as i would’ve liked since being rolled by a zerg and being constantly outmmaned in EB was and will never be fun for me.
Please do something about WvW population, I love WvW but there is only so much frustration I can take, eventually i will do like everybody else and either: never go to WvW again or jump server….

I tend to talk to “enemies” in matches, and I like that. Sure there are children every where and people who can make for a bad experience, but for the most part I find th system fine, more than fine; great.
As suggested before; only activate /team chat, it literally solves the “issue”.

Certainly, big zergs would lose the most so it is not convinient for them, so yes, one vote per person would do it!! Maybe once a day so that “active players” still feel rewarde, perhaps it would work as an incentive for non-WvW players who left WvW dfue to down to go to WvW more than once!

As long as this isnt one big “placebo” to calm the masses (which at this point I would be ‘ruining’ it by saying it is a placebo) then Im ok with these threads.
I would like to see a little more of “Well, we are discussing these things: x. but these are completely out of question so please dont even consider it”. I liked how in the balance threa for Dec 10 we SAW the changes, we saw stuff being changed because we asked for it and we had good basis for this. Haven’t done merc camps because LS, SMC because CD, and repairs because wth is this.
There were a couple I didnt do either; Camps because the LS sure is harsh, even my completely geared lvl 80s have a hard time killing those HP bags veterans there, which are too many as well.
SM is 4/5; losing weeks never have it, winning weeks, never have it.
Sentry…….. too much , did dolyaks and was painful.

Im very concerned about the population of losing servers, if the rewards are too good I can only forsee the departure of masses of players into more populated servers. This is catalyzed by the introduction of the new WvW map; before that map, most people way of thinking was : " I dont want to transfer due to queue", but now such problem disappears.
Think about it, a already low-populated server who is already outmanned in EB most of the time, will have a hard time holding a fair fight even in the new map!
Lets face it, most people dont care too much about contributing to WvW raking as long as you have large population. Chances are, if you are in WvW queue then you have a big server, and we know that bigger population = winning. So basically the new map will attract the WvW fight lovers and the people who are just in queue for the real fight, all while the servers with low population dont have queue and have no real reason to go the the queue map, leaving that as an option that would actually hurt your server.
Basically it is a lose/lose situation for the low-populated servers like mine. Is there anyway we can prevent this player hemorrhage?! Are there any plans for ANet to deal with this? Or should I follow the tide and join TC/BG/SoR?!

I agree with it being a nightmare, but for other reasons; I had t run back from keep to SM with 10 supplies at a time in on eday to get that achievement.

Though I understand that it hurts the server, Im also not going to hold back on it given that the options to complete the meta achievemnts were all as equally BORING.
I would’ve been fine with getting a “daily WvW” which would count towards it, and make it so that the meta was a total of 25 total “steps”
I go to WvW fairly often now (thanks to the Meta luring me into WvW and rediscovering the fun of WvW, which tbh after getting rolled so many times I simply gave up on it)
Though I would recommend you to ot bash the PvE players too much, after all, you are only hurting yourself. Like them, Im also a PvE player which had little to no interest in WvW. If WvW players start bashing me for not knowing what to do, instead of kindly explaining the reasoning, I will assume WvW is not for me and leave the WvW again (like many people have already). So bear with it for now, after all, you are now getting PvE players who had a taste of WvW and might be giving it a try!
As for the rewards, I dont expect anything higher than 2 blues, perhaps even greens, a couple of champion bags, 20 dragonite/empyrial and maybe 100 badges, but nonetheless, I want my rewards because Im a completer; I complete stuff.

I use 30/20/0/0/20 Zerker-Scholar staff build, and as far as pve goes I do fine, most open world mobs dont last more than a rotation for the most part, dungeons are fairly doable, except for Arah which requieres its own build and armor which i have separated, and the other boss you should watchout is the spider in AC, which I drop a coupole of zerkers for 4 PVT pieces. Other than that, zerker staff is probably the most fun and safest thing you can use in PvE

Since my ele is mostly staff and I tend to stand on the back most of the time, glass cannon, scholar is all I use in PvE in ZvZ, though Im starting to lean towards my third Traveler Runes set to lose that signet of air for another cantrip of some sort

Yes, that one. But you can read between the lines, also, in the map after caleddon forest there is a dialog right by the WP entering the zone, a warrior sylvari talks about how he already knows his purpose, and how to make it happen, and even though he and the other one shared the same “purpose” the means were different. Imagine, how much of a handicap it is to train baby charr; you see the dangers they have to go through, some dont even make it, and as you can see by how they play outside by the ascalon catacombs and LA, that they are still kids that have only been trained into war by brainwashing. All races have to train adn teach their people, but sylvari are simply born, and voila, ready to roll.

I’m going to hunt down this conversation before making a full reply (around Guardian Stone, is it?) but I would like to point out that Nightmare harms nature, not defends it. Just go and take a look at Kessex Hills- once a fantastically beautiful zone, one of my favorite in the game, now largely a blasted landscape reminiscent of Orr.
Well, I would blame Scarlett for that, but for what i have gathered, the only reason the nightmare behaves as “evil” is solely because they are trying to “break free” from the Ventari teachings, only then will they be pure and able to know their true purpose.
Perhaps they werent meant to be “good”, perhaps they werent meant to “protect” nature, what is they are nature, and you want to retake everything back, all the suffering the six gods and the charr and the asura have done to Tyria.
Sounds to me like Aylvari are truly the ultimate battling race, they are even immune to dragons.

I was roaming around the area of the Shattered dragon and came upon a conversation between a norn and a sylvari, they were talking about how handy sylvari were as a fighting race. Im paraphrasing here but basically the conversation went something like this:
Sylvari are born adults, fully sentient, educated and trained in their matters. Though naive, they can be “programmed” into basically any task before they are even born. They can be mass produced with only air water and sunlight, and from the moment they are born they are ready to march into battle with suits and weapons which are also made from the same tree. They share knowledge among all individuals and are connected to a central thinking machine which can relay said information anywhere in the world. The pale tree can even “see” the past.
I know they are fairly young in the world, but I think a race such as this could possibly harness magic and technology at a rate asura and charr could only dream off, since if sylvari want to, they could potentially have a “shared intellect”. If the nightmare wins, could they become the ultimate race and dominate the world as we know it? Will nature truly win at the end? Were sylvari made to destroy all which harms “nature” ? Is the nightmare, correct?
