maps are not deserted i would say you are either not in the right places or are having terrible luck with the mega servers
if you a pvp fan you got stronghold the new mode, that is hella fun
think the new wvw maps are for everyone too
its definitely much much more worth playing with the xpac than without it though so i hope you can join us on there soon

imagine if a mastery they give us for the crystal desert is sand surfing…. wouldnt that be sweet
well they have an under water dragon to address eventually so surely they will have to look at the water combat at some point.
i think the first thing that needs to be done is letting us set our traits separately for underwater.
next thing would be to sort out ground targeted skills so that they can work underwater, my suggestion would be to change how they work, instead of you targeting them they either affect a sphere of distance around you or around your target.
maybe shatterer is next up on their revamp list… heres hoping anyways
well cost wise they are not worth it unless you look very very long haul
i just like having them
tot bags are going to be far less attainable with maize balm in its current state so endless bat brew i do not see going down at all, more likely it will go waaaay up.
i do agree mostly that peoples complaints are ridiculous re: costing too much gold but just that one thing is really hard to defend because of how massively rng it is. i know its not much compared to some people but im coming up on 2000 tot bags opened since event start and not a single drop, nor am i any closer to a drop than i was at start.
give it time the issue will go away on its own, remember the days when multi colored commander tags first became a thing? also note how it is nowhere near as bad as it was then?
i think for map completion of each new zone you get an item, when you have all 4 you can combine them in the mystic forge for a gift of maguuma mastery. dont know if you get anything else at the same time
i only came in because i thought this was about map difficulty and was going to see if i could give tips or learn some new ones.
aint nobody got time to convince you to buy HoT OP, if you are really interested do some research, make up your own mind
Central Tyria Mastery Points more ways please

There is not only one Mastery point which you can obtain in WvWvW. That could be a another Way…
no it cant, they want world abilitys to be a separate thing from mastery points. its why if gliding gets added to wvw it will be unlocked via a world ability as opposed to just having it because you have pve gliding
fyi if the break bar stayed where it was then people were at least contributing some degen to it that overcame whatever regen the break bar had. i mean yeah obviously it wasnt good enough but just sayin
i thought it was the weapons you had equipped…

i quite like auric basin and verdant brink although id have to put auric basin on top.
tangled depths i can tell i will need to spend a lot of time on to get used to, that map has a lot going on. havent spent more than a couple minutes in dragons stand though
they are a very interesting type of enemy to encounter along with the rider type enemies.
they are not cheap and do not need to be changed imo
Guild Hall: Upgrade, bad item requirement

it says centaurs drop it, wvw is lvl 80 centaurs…
you can try your luck at silverwaste and drytop
i didnt think there were hostile centaurs in those areas outside of the story instances which dont drop loot
we did our guild hall the other night and had about 20ish players online participating. it felt like it was balanced very nicely in that it was a challenge but not impossible.
as for the guild hall requirements id imagine they envisioned it being a long term goal, yes richer or larger guilds would be able to do it faster but thats just life. more people contributing will naturally lead to the requirements being met faster so thats the sacrifice you have to make if you choose to stay a small guild.

lol 1g98s at the time i checked the wiki page. it is notable that it does not mention being able to acquire these bags from pve anywhere, has anyone actually checked it out themselves though?
maybe the problem is people dont yet have a good idea of where the best ways to get those chak eggs are…
if they are extreme rng only as op suggests then that kind of kills the whole point of a map currency based system where you can reliably work towards something even if it takes a while.

haters gonna hate
important thing is im happy with the xpac
i didnt like him, maybe now the pact can break up and the orders can become unique again. while the pact exists it doesnt feel any special that im in the order of whispers, id like to get that feeling back

your plan sounds like it might prevent people who havent learned what to do in the new map (probably that ‘awful’ group you mentioned) from having the proper chance to be able to learn what to do
love the xpac just wanted to pop in and add my thanks very much for all the hard work the team did and continue to do on HoT. I have been to all the new maps and through most of the story and still feel like there is plenty to do.
dear op
ima play my game
how i wanna play my game
thanks
i like the idea of account medals but only if they intend to keep on updating them as new stuff comes out. if not then better they are gone imo
so specifically the ones in black citadel, the 2 middle ones are right where you would expect them to be. the other 4 you have to be down the ramp from them to get it to work.
Possible Solution to the Hero Point Debacle
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

i think changing this would be a really bad thing for the game. pre launch there was not much reason to group up outside of very specific cirucmstances. with the new areas there are both the events and meta events requiring cooperation on a large scale and hero points requiring cooperation on a small scale. the event hero points give rewards even if youve already done them so people wont be discouraged from helping out, plus everyone will need them to unlock their elite spec
i hope if they do rebalance xp though they dont just go and cut from what you can get from mob kills, that would suck. i agree that event xp is not really in line with the xp/time ratio you can get from just finding a good mob spawn area

its not supposed to be cheap
the mystic forge method is a big gamble and buying it off the tp requires a massive amount of gold that is just daunting to many people.
the collection method of getting a precursor allows us to just pick a thing each day if we wanted and do that and see meaningful progress being made towards reaching our goal.
the choice is yours of how you want to go about it of course but i think it is wrong to cry oh this is bad because its not cheap or easy.
oh noes i cant solo everything in an MMO
what about city of hope? requires exalted mastery to continue -_-
i felt like all the other mastery requirements prior to suddenly needing to go from itzel 1 to itzel 4 were quite reasonable
We’ll take a look at the next step “Sign Cutting” being bugged out, as well as some or all of you having to jump through hoops to get the quest to update correctly. Sorry again for the inconvenience – we’ll have the quest’s designer and QA do a deeper dive on these issues.
Still silence on the larger issue at hand, when is the elite spec grind going to be addressed?
that is a non issue, its not a grind (that would be doing the same thing over and over) and its not that hard
yeah lol i was surprised each new zone seemed to have their own keys, thats about a billion different keys we need to hold on to
then theres the scribe mats
i wouldnt expect them to do black lion tickets or the other chef ingredients but cant deny id be pretty happy if they did
the elite spec thing doesnt need to be changed. people are looking at it from the perspective of a character that doesnt have any of the masteries unlocked. masteries are account bound though so once you get the hero challenges on one character they will be much faster to get on subsequent characters.
the mastery gating is also fine up until the part they have said they will change
i thought it was from arkham city
awesome, i was on the side that gating with masteries was fine up until this one which just expected me to go form 1-4 of itzel which is tonnes of xp and completely exponentialised the curve to epic proportions.
so glad to hear this news
It is a weird design decision to make the new weapon skill so hard to fully unlock.
It just cuts people off from trying it. Sure some more dedicated players will do it, but some people will see the grind and say “meh”, and stick with the still valid weapons they easily unlocked already, with many not bothering at all with alts.I mean the new weapons are not superior in any way shape or form and is just another play style, so making such a big grind gating that extra play style just seems like an odd decision to me.
To my understanding, I thought the mastery system was suppose to be the new “levels” to grind, not the hero points for a weapons kill that is completely optional. It comes off as one of those decisions that were made for the developers benefit and not the players. Something to pad out the grind, even if it’s to the detriment of the user experience, a pitfall that many MAAAANY MMO developers fall back on far too many times.
i dont see how its to the detriment of the user experience at all. what do pve-ers do when they are 80? either they stop playing or they pick something in the game they want to work towards. that something could as easily be a weapon or armor set as it could be the elite spec or map completion. if they want it its there to go for, if not they dont have to. if everything was just given for free what would they have to do?
ok a bit of misinformation there zoada if you have all of the main game hero points you only need 20 from the new areas. if you have none of the main game hero points you will need 40 from the jungle.
you might still see it as grindy but i just want to point out it is not all of x and all of y needed.
also i have to strongly disagree with comments about bad map design, i think they are coming from a place where people are not used to the maps, not used to thinking in terms of masteries (oh i could glide, mushroom jump/other over there) and in general just have not figured a lot of the stuff out yet.
its not even out of its first weekend of release yet so thats natural but i feel its important some perspective is put on it. i doubt very much the same kind of stuff will be said a couple months down the line
any chance of getting more slayer achievement categorys? they are something i quite enjoyed going after and there have been several categorys of enemies added into the game since launch that could be given one (karka, mordrem, dinosaurs, dustmites)
9.9/10 definitely have been having tonnes of fun and im only on the 2nd new map, so much to see and do that actually feels worth seeing and doing.
for me personally the masteries are taking a long time but the reason why is actually a really good thing, ive spent so much time exploring the maps as opposed to doing things that gain much more xp just because it is actually fun to do so.
maps are not empty they are large and people probably dont know where to go or are exploring. whenever ive needed to group up for something all it took was putting a call out in map chat and usually there were some others keen to group for the same thing

To those still having this issue. BEFORE trying the tcp/ip dealio, check your in game GRAPHIC OPTIONS. Check your INTERFACE SIZE. If it is set to anything other than NORMAL, change it to NORMAL. Close options and try to open the chests.
It’s a small/easy fix that has worked for some and is much easier than the tcp/ip deal.
yeah thanks a lot, seems dumb that it worked but it did the trick so
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t recall any other gw2 stories requiring me to learn something just to be able to continue the story!!!
i will correct you there, all the other story segments with the original personal story were level gated i.e. you cant start till you level 10, 20,30 etc
this is the same except instead of you being locked out until your level is high enough you are locked out until you have leveled a feature you are probably going to be able to use a lot across all the new maps.
bugged for me as well, please help anet
story step updated from glide to him to talk to him but i cant
was in a party just now, had a little chat while doing stuff but i noticed when we finished up and left that party the chat log deleted all the stuff said in party chat
just wondering if it was intentional or not to leave flax fibers without a material deposit slot
