HoT map completion items once per char?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

Are Hot map completion items only once per character? Meaning if you had 5 character slots and you did it 5 times you would still only be able to craft 5 new legendarys?

Titles?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

heros tab [h] > achievements
then at the top left of the panel just under where it states your achievement points should be either the name of a title or the words no title, it is a drop down box you click on and then you can choose between any title you have unlocked.

titles are unlocked when an achievement has been fully completed so if you did tier 1 of an achievement but there are 10 tiers you will have to finish the 10th tier before you have unlocked the title

Goatjugsoup.8637

well of course hero points are soulbound
i do think it is incredibly stupid that proof of heroics are tho considering how they are earned, you could do 99% of a wvw rank on your main and then just switch to an alt and take a flag for the last 1%. its really more of an inconvenience than anything else

Karma Armor Being Soulbound.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Goatjugsoup.8637

All non-ascended karma armor/weapon/accessory items are soulbound on acquire. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember, and I don’t see them changing it anytime soon.

I was going to say it feels like that is just a relic from when karma was character based currency but perhaps the point is not just to have earned the karma but also to have gotten that character up to the point where they can buy the armor

When others legendaries?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

The amusing part in all of this to me is that we were supposed to get these in 2013 and not behind a paywall. Now we are going to get 3(less/more?)every 3-6 months and they are behind the paywall of HoT? Most of these are skins that were designed years ago and just supposed to be a part of the GW2 pay once for content and not gem shop or even expansion pack stuff. Many of them were designed before ArenaNet ever thought about doing an expansion.

Maybe, and this is just a suggestion here but maybe you should take off your tin foil hat bro. I don’t believe for a second that is what happened

Separation of Balance (Yes this thread again)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

i dont understand why there needs to be a discussion, it seems obvious how beneficial it would be to have skills balanced separately for pvp and pve and i can only imagine the reasons anet dont do it are either because of lack of resources or because they are scared we are all stupid and will get confused if we have to remember two sets of skill information.

if its the last one all i can say to that is i dont think the group of people who spend equal amounts of time in all game types is going to be that big, most pick a favorite and then dabble in other types

Goatjugsoup.8637

i feel like someone merged topics incorrectly, isnt this two separate issues (one about instanced content like personal story or living story instances, another about open world maps)?

i do agree they both suck though, it is very discouraging doing a story instance then having to redo it because you disconnected, especially since you dont get any sort of reward till the whole thing is done that time is essentially flushed.

same again for participating in map metas it took me a long time to care about the octovine because i just kept getting dcd

in return anet destroyed any reason to go for any of the existing dungeons

really? you are going to exaggerate that much?

they took away ONE reason to go for existing dungeons and that was liquid gold
if that was your only reason to do them you need to move where that liquid gold has moved. loot drops and dungeon tokens are still there, you can still acquire the unique dungeon skins and then theres the content itself.

Goatjugsoup.8637

Hi im bumping this topic rather than creating my own, i have seen the solution people have come up with where they do the heart on an alt that didnt have the heart yet to get the item and i am in disbelief at what terrible design that is.
what if we had complete map completion would we be expected to buy a character slot or delete a character just to get this one item to finish the legendary journey?

On the wiki talkpage though there is mention of someone doing it on a 100% character and i believe i have found the chest that guy is talking about only it is open and uninteractable so this whole terrible ordeal may just be a bug

"It Begins!" - Farewell, Caithe

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

I like caithe – a lot more now that she’s a better fleshed out character through LS2.
Logan is and always was utterly forgettable. Eir is only a footnote because of Braham (and i guess her relation to Jora, if i recall that right). Zojja gets a nod on ascended weaponry, but she’s a little too… cliched a character to be really likeable.

Rytlock, on the other hand, is a good character and is rightly getting fleshed out further. I’m happy with that.

think you are mistaken there, eir carved a statue of jora but is not related to her

plus i feel all the original destinys edge were fleshed out quite well between the book (Edge of destiny), the personal story and the storymode of dungeons

Why I think HoT failed

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

Honestly, HoT did not fail. But it wasn’t great either. I would say it is in the middle.
The good thing about HoT is the glider. And if Anet is going to bring gliding to Core Tyria, all the better. Let’s not say it will trivialize JP’s in core Tyria. How many times can you glide upwards?

The bad thing about HoT is the same thing core Tyria is experiencing. Grinding. :P

a grindless mmo is just not something that will ever exist successfully, its a pipe dream
none of the grinding in gw2 though is required to be competitive so you can much more easily than any other mmo pick and choose what you want to do

[Suggestion] Key Ring [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

We need a Key Ring…

We need unified and simplified systems.

Not just for keys.
I think everyone is aware of the current flaws.

Sure your suggestion is valid but the problem doesn’t have to exist to begin with.
Bad/Unhealthy systems have to be fixed at their core.
No more band aid tactics.

the point of all the different keys is that they have to be earned by doing content in that region, if it were simplified people would just find an easy farm and grind a billion keys. i think its actually a good system aside from the inventory bloat which a key ring would take care of.

PLEASE NOT A GEM STORE THING, keyring should either be like the account wallet how everyone just got it or perhaps more interestingly earned somehow in game, because if things keep going as they have where more and more types of keys keep getting added it will not be a convenience it will be a necessity

64 bit client menu hitbox issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

With the 32 bit client i used to have a problem with the menu hitboxes all being off to the right from where they were supposed to be. I made a support ticket and the resolution from that issue came back as being to tick a box under compatibility settings of the shortcut that said Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

This worked and all was well but today I had one too many crashes with the 32 bit version so I thought I would try the 64 bit client that is touted to help with that issue only my original problem with the menu hitboxes has come back and i do not even have the option to change that setting on the shortcut (it is grayed out and nothing I can think of makes it changeable).

Dragon Stand Toxic Chat (Heart of Thorns)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Goatjugsoup.8637

Goatjugsoup.8637

Generally people don’t change if you tell them nicely. They will only act when they are emotionally involved.

Calling you out on being bad is TEACHING you how to be a better player. So instead of being the victim and playing dumb you should own up to mistakes and just accept that someone else may know more than you do.

Is it a nice way of teaching? No. Are there other ways to help people? Of course! But to really help someone would be time consuming and you don’t even know if they care about your opinions. However when you start attacking someone they will immediately focus their attention and read intently. Now how much is filtered because of anger we don’t know but surely some of the ‘mean advice’ must seep through even if they don’t admit it.

nope if someone is acting that way to anyone in map chat they go straight on my block list, everyone has to start somewhere and it does not help AT ALL when people act like its ok to attack them like that.
ive been quite fortunate with my gw2 first times and have had positive learning experiences that actually taught me what i needed to know, whether it was by being explained from someone or a group of us figuring it out together
