Basic math implies specific numbers, you’re just making casual observations(counting ticks) based on guesstimates(~60%, 1k hp/tick).

Also, the previously linked wiki’s description of the downed mechanic throws out all your “basic math” anyway… ie: what you describe has nothing to do with how the downed system actually works.

None of which really changes the fact that NSP has a reputation as a very active PVE server and that historically(I started noticing it just after xmas) our WvW participation drops off after the weekend.

What we’re able to do once on a Monday(during a long weekend, btw) doesn’t really say much about current trends.

Anyway, my point wasn’t that NSP is “hurting badly”, simply that I find it odd we both feel the same way about our server’s situation. Maybe it points towards a more universal experience? maybe most lower tier servers have had this experience at some point?

Strange, those are qualifiers(“more of a PVE server”, “strong weekend force that dries up come Monday”) that have applied to NSP for weeks now, if not months.

I don’t understand most of what you’re saying but this is by far the most nonsensical of your statements. Being out-manned has little to do with the reasoning behind building siege weapons.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say at this point but SW doesn’t favor larger groups over smaller ones, nor does it favor attackers over defenders.

I personally don´t think swirling winds should block siege shots, just makes the “zerg” even more powerful, spamming catapults and blocking every counter shot that comes from Tower. If they got the numbers advantage people can always go for long range trebs or catas glued to the wall, no need to frustrate more the few defenders that actually put the proper siege inside tower with some bugged skill abuse.

ps: the defenders can use Swirling Winds to block siege shots too.

Does it seem to you that A-net does an incredible amount of programming and development work for content that is only temporary and will never see the light of day again? some of this temporary content looks like they have seriously spent a lot of time and money and probably required some serious overtime work from employees.

Another factor beyond what’s already been said is that all these “one-off” events like SAB, Karka invasion, the BWE Games… they all let the devs try out new techniques, new methodologies, see what works and what was a better idea on paper than in practice.

So while the content itself might be of a limited duration, the experience and knowledge gained by the devs is a boon to the rest of the game in perpetuity.

If you have any alts in the 30-35 range that aren’t seeing much action you can park them at a JP chest and just log in every day to collect. With 2 of them I’ve averaged about 1 silver doubloon a day over the last 3 months.

btw there’s 7 sentries per BL and camps are not worth 10(wiki says 75 but I can’t confirm off the top of my head, definitely more than ten though). You also appear to be ignoring player kills, which is where I got most of the WXP… melting away enemy zerglings with siege during those keep/tower defenses.

I didn’t break down the math or pay attention to the numbers while playing, I just kept doing my usual thing till I hit rank 5 and then switched chars.. after those two sessions all 5 were done. Not much more I can say.

Feel free to keep trying to compute some kind of answer that satisfies you.

nope, 2 sessions of about 4 hours each. no zerging required.

Take a char into red bl, cap all the camps and sentries,
go into green bl and do the same.
then spend some time defending keep and home towers in EB.

Added armor and weapon sets, titles, and no culling. What about fixing the orbs? Many players and I also discussed how back when it was the “Feb” patch there was suppose to be a new map? Also i feel the “weapon and armor skins” on the WvW sets are completely boring. I cant believe it took a year since launch to throw this together. I cant help but feel a little shafted.

In my point of view, it’s a ridiculous concept to put a virtual character ahead of the living breathing, real life person who paid to play the game.

So when you go up a level in PVE, all your alts should go up a level, right?

And if your Warrior character learns a new elite skill, all your other chars should have access to it too, right?

Absolutely, I even made a suggestion post about it a few weeks ago.

However I’m still unsure if this could/would favor certain classes/builds more then others.

Apparently they were both Medium this morning.

Looks like the list on the site is generated dynamically on view… so the free transfers apply to whatever server is showing as Medium when you try to transfer.

This means that if you pick your time right, you can transfer anywhere for free.

It also means that if you can only make a transfer around prime time, you won’t be able to take advantage of the offer.

I don’t think you can deduce anything about active population from wiki page hits, plenty of active players never use it and plenty of players hit it 20+ times a day.

Heck, some ppl go to check out and don’t even own the game :P

Experience varies greatly based on what tier/server.. but in general, spend a week or two just exploring the maps and getting to know the locations, you’ll end up in groups of varying sizes along the way and get a decent feel for typical activities.

There’s a lot to learn(PvP itself, how siege works, how scoring works, how to gauge which way a crowd will move, etc..) so don’t worry if it takes a while before you start being less confused.

I am on a five year old dual core with an 8800GT and 4gigs of ram …and it runs perfectly fine with the appropriate settings(no shadows, everything else medium)

Was a bit scared of what WvW would be like without culling.. pleasantly surprised not to notice any drops in framerate or responsiveness.

SFR is not included in this, nor is any other T1 server.

Anet actually employs professionals to crunch price-point math for things like this… and the demand for a service like this is not that elastic.

Anet mentioned around February that the concurrency and playtime/player/week numbers had been growing steadily since mid-december.

This definitely matched up with my own guild’s activity as well as what I had observed in-game.

While they haven’t changed the wording, They changed the list from the initial 3(ET, FC and HoD) to all 6 servers in the bottom two tiers.

I don’t think that NSP, GoM and SF magically lost a large amount of population in the 2-3 hours in between the two versions of the announcement.

I think pretty much all three tier7 servers will fit your criteria equally well.

I don’t think that’s actually true.

Weapon/armour skins are loaded up in local memory, your client doesn’t ask the server what “axe-skin-42b” looks like, just which skin a given object instance is using(and dye info for armour pieces). The bandwidth/processing cost of that reference is the same whether the game has 15 possible axe skins or 600 of them.

I think they removed the requirement for population to be at medium… once they realized which 3 servers were medium at the time and how it would unbalance WvW they just changed it to be all 6 servers in T7&8

They turned off the karma/XP/coin rewards for the Dolyak escorts after release because of how badly it was being exploited, this would be the same.
