MORE SUSPICIOUS BARRELS!
Even MORE Suspicious Barrels just north of the first one. …Must be full of those floating rocks from Morgan’s Spiral.
My CHARR WARRIOR holds his rifle up to his eye and sights down the barrel for all skills except “Aimed Shot”, which he shoots from the hip.
What’s up with that? Talk about your inconsistencies.
I see you peeps are WoW fans ei?
WoW took what? 7 years to implement the instant max lvl scroll? Plus, how long did it take to get to max lvl back in the time? Whatever the answer to that is, I’m pretty sure getting to 80 in GW2 is a lot faster.
It’s because of people like you that want gratification immediately that the maps are empty. I would nerf crafting xp even more, so people would actually have explore the world to get to 80.
Never played WoW. But someone always comes along on these threads and makes a comparison. “People like me” aren’t asking for immediate gratification. Read my posts. It isn’t speed I’m after. It is an alleviation of the repetitiveness. (But all it seems I am doing here is repeating myself).
IIRC=If I recall correctly.
I am really baffled at how you can claim to be about PvE and still not want to level up in PvE. Is what you’re planning to do at 80 really that different from what you’re doing before 80?
What’s the confusion? I will be leveling in PvE. Each “year” of College would be comprised of about 4 personal story-like episodes designed to let me learn about the Profession, each replayable if I want to tweak my play style to see what works best for me.
Speed of leveling is not really my concern either. Just boredom factor. But I don’t see them expanding the current Personal Story into a bunch of new paths to give us more variety. If they did go that route, I wouldn’t have a problem. But right now it’s like I’m watching the same TV show over and over again, especially after the Pact is created.
Thank you for the “IIRC” translation!
Again, sPVP. You’ll be able to level up in there after the patch on the 15th IIRC
Sorry… IIRC? Translation?
I don’t suppose I can earn levels quickly in sPvP without fighting other players? I’ve tried many forms of PvP in many different games. I enjoy friendly rivalries and good sportsmanship, but that attitude seems to be missing these days. Many PvP games seem to turn into ganging up exercises (boring zerging that takes very little of skill into account on either side) and bad attitudes from losers and winners alike. It just seems that trash-talk is today’s standard for success in PvP. So I’ve stayed away whenever possible. It just isn’t enjoyable for me when played that way.
if you’re not going to bother to read past a thread’s tittle, then don’t bother posting.
Hehe…
Yeah, I feel the same way whenever someone types “TL;DR” (Too long; didn’t read).
If you didn’t read it, then why are you commenting on it?
If I remember correctly you can get “level up!” books from sPvP chests. There you go, you can roll a lvl 1 character from any class, do Spvp which puts you on same foot as any other player and use the books to reach lvl 80.
There you go!? (Corrct me if I’m wrong about the books, I don’t pvp much lately)
I don’t know about that. They have books to get you to level 20 if you are lower than that. I got my first ones (I have something like 14 now) when they added Achievement Chests. Never got a chance to use one though, since by that time all of my characters were past 20. But if I see the need for another character (which won’t likely happen unless they introduce some new Professions), then I will be able to zap them up instantly to level 20. I still think the idea of “practice time” with a new Profession is good, but there’s not much to learn at the 1-20 range. Only new skills. You don’t have traits to learn yet at that point. Probably why they added the books… because below level 20 you aren’t really missing much if you skip over it.
Then bite the bullet and do some boring content so you can get to the content you want to do. There really is no other way around it. Not to mention you’d get there faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar faster than waiting for such a thing as this being introduced.
I am biting the bullet and doing some boring content.
I know there’s really no other way around it.
That is the point of this thread. A suggestion so that in the future we might not have to bite the bullet and do boring content.
Well guys you have to admit. It’s a lot better than those instant lvl 80 suggestions you often see.
The frequency at which those pop up does mean something.
Leveling is plain bad in this game.People want everything on a silver platter.Corrected for what it actually is. Leveling is far easier in gw2 than a lot of other games. Why? because events give 7-10% exp just for completing them. Depending on the event itself, you could make up to that much again just from kills. 10-15 events a level is not hard to do, especially when you can just do events in low level areas for comparable exp. Hell, I still take a trip every hour or so up to Eda’s orchard and mass murder spiders and collect apples. With the right timing, I’m done with 3 events in 5 minutes. Add in the harpies or elemental at the dam, giant wurm at jeb’s farm, and the water pump station event, I’m looking at close to half a level in 10 minutes.
Not the point.
I never said leveling was easy or hard. I said the process after 5+ characters is mind-numbing, and I am suggesting a way to skip unnecessary repetitiveness in the learning method.
I don’t want to instantly pay my way to 80.
I don’t want to skip learning about my new Profession.
I want to streamline the process because I don’t need the whole 1-80 learning curve anymore.
I wonder what the point of leveling to 80 without going through the only parts of the game that are interesting is? To skip-run through dungeons as fast as possible? To do LW updates? To do the meta-event cycle? I suppose I’ll grant that if WvW is your poison, the experience is somewhat better at max level — but failing that, what’s the point?
If the only parts of the game that were interesting was the leveling, then nobody would be using level 80 characters.
I appreciate learning. I don’t want to skip through stuff and be an incompetent. But as I said earlier, I already know much of what I’m supposed to learn in the leveling process. I would like to skip the stuff I know, and be able to have a little practice with a new Profession. Personal Story (now) and Crafting (always) bore me to tears.
If I learn High School Algebra, I have already learned the basics of math. If I then decide to take High School Geometry, I don’t have to start back at first grade and re-learn the basics of math.
If it bores you, don’t do it.
After 5+ level 80 characters, leveling bores me, yes. But I do want to experience each of the Professions. Can you tell me how to do that without leveling?
sPVP
I guess you didn’t read my post 7 spots up from yours (end of first paragraph). I am die-hard PvE. And I guess I shouldn’t have said “experience”… I want an actual level 80 character of each profession. Not just temporarily leveled for the “experience” of it. I want to do level 80 PvE events.
The first time I went to Disney World I was excited. The six hour drive was full of anticipation. The pretty countryside and the time just flew by.
Disney World is a big place. I enjoy returning, and there is always something new and exciting to see and do. But the six hour drive ain’t what it used to be. Much better now when I take an airplane.
If it bores you, don’t do it.
After 5+ level 80 characters, leveling bores me, yes. But I do want to experience each of the Professions. Can you tell me how to do that without leveling?
My suspicion, at least from what items HAVE been made into tonics, is that the new mechanic is that tonics will be what is used for the Costume Brawl mini-game (with all the skills that come with it), and that outfits will simply be a skin that you apply over your existing armor for combat.
We are supposed to take our Costume Brawl weapons to the Black Lion Weapon Specialist (or somebody) after the 15th and trade them in for replacements that will work with the new system. Perhaps our Costume Brawl Weapons are becoming tonics? (Many transformation tonics have Costume Brawl skills). Tonics will be the only way to enter the Costume Brawl, perhaps? Say it isn’t so! Man, this just keeps getting better and better.
But that’s WEAPONS. It still doesn’t explain why our CLOTHES need to be tonics. Brawl skills have always been tied to weapons, just like normal combat.
Dang it, GW! All I want is the mix ‘n’ match clothing I bought. Not more armor. Clothing. A down-time, sitting-around-town-relaxing costume without spiked shoulders and bristling weapons. Here I am fighting to get my tonics made into Outfits, and I don’t even want Outfits!
I’m bored and you want me to stand around at a crafting table instead of running around the world adventuring? That will certainly raise my level of excitement! Not to mention, your solution will get me zero experience in actually knowing how to play a new Profession. (I don’t care for PvP of any sort. Please don’t tell me to go there and try it out at level 80).
This is not about making it easier. I am fully capable of becoming competent in a new Profession a lot faster than it currently takes to get to level 80 following the Personal Storyline. Much of the first few trips up the ladder involve learning the game mechanics. How to dodge. How to spot enemy “tells”. When to heal. When to run. I know all that now, and don’t need to learn it again. But even with different races and different paths to follow, much of the Personal Story is still the same for every character. This is about making repeated trips to 80 less boring.
In order for single pieces to become outfits, they would have to be merged with something else, or you will end up with a shirt and no pants on. By making single pieces tonics, they’re basically cheating the system, making another workaround.
This is what I don’t understand. They have already made the extra pieces for these items that are slated to become endless tonics. They are already a full one-piece costume. They don’t have to mesh with existing armor pieces of any weight class. Why can’t they be treated as Outfits so we can at least dye some parts and not have to reapply after zoning?
Leveling all the way to 80 gets to be boring after awhile. Some people would like to be able to pay to get there fast. But on the other hand, if you’ve never played a specific Profession before and jump straight to 80, you won’t know what you’re doing.
I also feel the pain of leveling, having 5 level 80’s of different professions (and nearly a sixth). But don’t quite agree with “instant leveling”. The player needs to learn at and pay his way through Leveling College.
The player must level one character on his account to 80 the old-fashioned way. Only then can another character on the account be granted admission to Leveling College.
Leveling College is a Four-Year school. Okay, a Four-STEP School. Freshmen will be Level 20 when they graduate. Sophomores will be level 40 when they graduate. Juniors will be Level 60 when they graduate. Seniors will graduate to level 80.
If a character is already level 20+, he has earned college credit and can enter Leveling College as a Sophomore. If he is level 40+, he can enter as a Junior. And if he is level 60+ he can enter Leveling College as a Senior. Each grade costs the same. You do NOT have to pay for grades you skip.
Leveling College is designed to teach the player a little about how to play their Profession. A “year” consists of up to 4 personal story-like episodes (personal instances) where the player is given a chance to learn his new skills. While in these classroom instances, he will be artificially bumped up to the appropriate classroom level (a Freshman will play at level 20, a Sophomore will play at level 40, a Junior will play at level 60, and a Senior will play at level 80).
The character is allowed to select gear, skills, and traits of his classroom level for use in the personal classroom instance. He can not use his own gear. Each episode of the training course can be repeated as often as desired while the player experiments with different builds. The player must succeed in the current episode of training before he can advance to the next.
The Leveling College is open to all, but if the player has already leveled one Profession to 80, then he need no longer do the classroom instances to level the same Profession to 80. He only needs to pay for the necessary classes to advance his level.
This need not affect Personal Story at all. The character can still go back and follow it if the likes. He will naturally be underwhelmed by the challenge and rewards for lower level content, but it is still there for him. He might even take this as a good opportunity for post-graduate work… the chance to fine-tune his new Profession in an instanced scenario where his lack of experience won’t hinder the efforts of other players.
(Gw1 had something very similar to this with the FACTIONS campaign. Low level characters did high-XP earning tasks for their teachers, who gave them new skills to use to complete their assignments. You could level up faster in Factions than in any of the other expansions.)
The Megaserver will affect the Roleplaying community in another very important way that I haven’t seen addressed yet:
EMOTES
Emotes are an important part of role playing. As a GW2 photographer, I also use emotes a lot to capture my toons in just the right poses.
But the non-RP community often complains about all the emoting that fills their chat. When the Megaserver cranks up to full steam, and each map is optimized for population, there will no longer be any quiet out-of-the-way spots we can go to keep from aggravating others. The Role Playing world will become smaller than ever.
The Megaserver system needs to roll out on Day 1 with an EMOTES SENSITIVITY SLIDER just like the one they gave us for player musical instruments. Otherwise RPers will be buried under an avalanche of protests even deeper than they are now.
There is sometimes a REASON for spamming emotes. It’s not just idiot trolls.
I am a GW2 “photographer”, and use the few emotes we have so that I can catch my toons in poses other than just “standing around in front of some scenery”. This often means spamming emotes again and again to get the right picture, just like a real-life photographer goes through many rolls of film to get a single shot.
I am conscious of this issue, and hesitate to tell people to simply uncheck their emotes chat if they don’t like it. They may like to see the occasional emote. I do my best to use instances whenever possible, so that nobody hears me. But with the new Megaserver system revving up, I am more worried than ever that my emoting will disturb the peace, since maps will (supposedly) be optimized for population at all times of the day.
I don’t know what the range is on emotes. Full MAP range would be ridiculous. Emotes should only be within SAY (local) range at most.
The designers added a “sensitivity slider” to let us tune out player Instruments if they were getting on our nerves. The same thing would be appreciated for emotes. It would give others some peace, and it would give me more places to take my pictures without worrying that I could be disturbing people.
“Some basic clothing items that are no longer available for purchase will be converted into endless tonics.”
As much as I dislike the idea of an entire one-piece “Outfit” instead of my individual pieces of Town Clothing, the thought of some pieces becoming tonics is even worse.
- Like Outfits, you can only use one Tonic at a time.
- Like Outfits, Tonics will be an entire one-piece look (“The endless tonic will grant the appearance of the clothing it replaced. (along with some appropriate complimentary pieces so you’re not naked). -Curtis Johnson).
But Endless Tonics have severe disadvantages when compared to Outfits:
- Despite the name, they aren’t “endless”, because they’ll end the moment we enter combat. (Even Tonics of the past that were supposed to work in combat had issues… for example the Halo/Horns that wouldn’t work in Dungeons, and were stripped in various other situations. Who knows? The new “endless” tonic Town Clothing pieces may even have a one-hour duration like the Halo).
- They need to be reapplied every time we zone.
- They aren’t dyable. At least an Outfit has up to 4 dye channels.
If the items becoming Tonics have already been updated to include “complimentary pieces” which will essentially make them a single-piece Outfit, then why not make them actual Outfits?
(Additional question: Will the old “Town Clothes Hide/Unhide” Toggle now apply to Outfits?)
I am unsure if this has been asked and or answered but will we have to roll 22 characters to get all of the biography armor options? (example: the starter mesmer masks) or are those skins going to be basic unlocks for everyone?
I would assume that when you create an Elementalist with the Fire headpiece, then it is unlocked for your account forever after. Then delete that Elementalist and create one with an Earth headpiece. Boom – that one is unlocked for your account forever after. Etc. In about a half hour you could zap through all the Professions and have all the starter-unique armor pieces unlocked forever after I would think.
I’m mostly scared that our starter Town Clothes will probably become one-piece “Outfits”.
(edited by Hamfast.8719)
Good luck finding a character name you like ever again under that system. They would have to free up any names used by the non-game owners after X-number of days of inactivity.
This could be very simple.
Some people were asking for the chance to wear Town Clothes as armor. They got their wish, but for technical reasons many Town Clothes wouldn’t convert over to armor as-is.
To keep Town Clothes in the game for the people who bought them, they adopted the “Outfit” system, which bypasses those technical issues at the cost of the ability to mix-and-match individual pieces.
I appreciate that they did what they could to keep us from completely losing our Town Clothes, but they didn’t count on something; that NOBODY who purchased Town Clothes bought them to wear in combat, because you couldn’t wear them in combat. EVERYBODY bought them to wear around town. These were Role Players and people who wanted to create new, individual looks for themselves to show off. If nothing else, it was a way to get attention without flaunting a Legendary weapon or flashing a Commander’s icon.
Unfortunately, the Outfit system does away with the ability to create a unique look. One size fits all, with very limited colors to boot. I’m glad they tried to let us keep our Town Clothes, but Outfits do not fit the people who purchased Town Clothes. I doubt they will see much use, since they are unable to provide the individuality craved by their target audience.
What I see as a solution: Start from scratch if necessary and remake all the old Town Clothes that we bought. Turn them into individual armor skin pieces that work under the new system.
The darker sides of this issue bring forth questions of future trust in the company, as well as anger at being hit in the wallet. I believe both those complaints could be mostly dissolved if they took steps to make all of our old Town Clothing pieces into armor skins. Not one-piece Outfits. Not one-piece undyable tonics. If they tell us this is happening, we will wait as patiently as possible while it gets done.
If I make #1 disappear within 24 hours, will you send those thousands of gems to my account? It’d be much appreciated. Thanks.
2 and 3 are old quality of life things dealing with the game just not remembering our preferences. They finally dealt with the text in the upper right corner opening and closing of its own volition. It’d be nice to see them apply the same fix to the Inventory and Bank. And I can’t count the number of times that my chat channel has changed on its own and I told the whole map “BRB – potty”.
Now that dyes are becoming ACCOUNT BOUND, each individual character will have a bigger assortment to choose from, when the whole account is combined into one big shared stockpile.
I trust that people will quickly come to see what I have known (and asked for) all along; that viewing dyes by HUE is the most efficient way of finding the one you want in a large collection.
Right now, dyes default to sorting by “set” (common/uncommon/rare). This means practically nothing when you are trying to locate a specific color out of many hundreds. Yet every time I log on, I have to reset my default dye chart to sorting by Hue. The game does not remember my personal preference.
Please give your support to either making “Sort by Hue” the default selection, or else remembering each player’s preference.
Until you can get rid of footsteps and other effects, I will not be making a Legendary. Just too goofy. If leaving footsteps makes a weapon “Legendary”, let me equip my wooden Pirate Sword and slosh through a mud puddle. You will gawk in awe at my apparent greatness!
What’s all the fuss? I don’t feel any different.
I feel your pain, Keanu. The Airship feels more cramped than usual today, for some reason. My neck is killing me. My head feels like it’s about to explode.
I don’t think GW2 does anything for April Fools except bring back the Super Adventure Box. Which is a shame on several levels: Lots of people could care less, so won’t have any special fun stuff for April Fools. Lots of people love it, but it’s only around for two weeks out of the year.
An easy thing they could implement at the last minute would be to turn everyone into the semblance of Scarlet when they enter LA. It’s hallucinogenic fumes from leftover miasma patches, I tell you!
Gender swap was easily the funniest. Everyone logged into every character on their account, I think! Exchanging sizes with your mini pet was kind of neat too. My first experience being Asura-sized! The stick figures were boring, becoming a Gwen Doll was interesting.
What’s the verdict on our basic town clothes that we had at the start? Will they be skins or a costume? Or will they remain at all? Anyone heard anything or have an educated guess?
it seems like you want to express here as there isnt someone answering you and you can go on and on as much as you like but when the devs answer you dont like what they say and dont listen so then you create a new one so to start it up again ?
As a matter of fact, I can go on and on as much as I like until THEY pull the plug on me. Not you. If you don’t side with me, that’s fine. But once again, you can’t tell me to quit. (You can, but I’ll just ignore you).
But please, I would like to stick to Town Clothes mix ‘n’ match pictures in this thread. I have gotten off track far too much already. Argue with me on the other thread.
Thank you.
I assume this is messed up? Isn’t it supposed to be 4?
this seems to be again i wont look special , and showing pics as well to prove your point? some how i just find this even more sad than before LOL
Yes, many people want a unique look. Many people appreciate a non-armor look for when they are Roleplaying or just messing around in town. Many people get COMPLIMENTS on a neat, unique look. Anyone and everyone can have a Legendary weapon or a Commander’s icon. But not everybody has imagination. (And imagination is cheaper!)
all i will say is they dont owe you or anyone on this thread an explanatation yet they have given you many and you will still not accept that as the person above states just because you do not agree or dont think its right doesnt mean your right
they did what they did the links show they did listen yet noo ones listening to thier answer due to the fact of your so full of your own agenda to listen to them you dont hear
theres a saying " you cant seen the wood for the trees "
I never asked them for an explanation. And as I said in my previous post, I will not stop trying to show them how important this is to me. I think that is a better way to get action than name calling, or threats that I won’t use the gem store, or stuff like that.
I have seen their responses. I am responding in kind. The forums are here for open dialogue. Do you always roll over and give up when the powers that be say “no”? Well that’s not me. At least I’m trying to do it in a non-hostile way. If you don’t care about my “agenda” that’s fine. But you can’t tell me to stop trying for a compromise for my side of the issue.
More pictures, guys! Loving ’em!
It is possible that some of these WILL be able to be replicated under the new system. Most will probably be gone forever. Even if our pleas against this change fall upon deaf ears, then this thread may serve as a fond scrapbook memory of the good old days gone by.
Cute thread I love the creativity. I jsut want the point out what you said about the pleas falling on Deaf ears. Just because you do not LIKE the response does not mean they aren’t listening. They have explained in the other larger thread about why they made the choice to make some of the older pieces tonics. It is a system issue and this was the only way to change some of them over. It was an all or nothing type deal, and they chose to give us everything instead of scrapping the town clothes idea forever. I love how snarky you are in your “Instead of complaining lets just show off” But in almost every post YOU are complaining about the tonics. If you wanna show off your looks that’s fine and great and I think its wonderful, but your snarky comments about the fact that ANet is “Ignoring” you is just silly. They are NOT ignoring, they are standing by their decision.
Examples of them not Ignoring and explaining why they did what they did with some of hte Town Clothes: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-Town-clothes-Costumes-Combat/page/14#post3817507
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-Town-clothes-Costumes-Combat/page/18#post3823361That doesn’t sound at all like deaf ears. It sounds to be they are listening, they understand and even sympathize. But they obviously have metrics over how many people use vs. don’t use town clothes on a regular basis, and they had to change the system. So they made a decision. It may not be popular, but its theirs. Don’t go on about how they don’t listen when it’s obvious they do. Snarkiness like this is the reason Devs shy away from talking to players. Even when they do, and the explain people still say they don’t listen simply because they don’t agree with what you said. Psh. Grow up. It’s happening, sure its sad, but they didn’t ignore you at all, they answered, many times about why.
Wow. That’s quite a lot to say about my one use of the phrase “fall upon deaf ears”. And now I’ve got to go look up “snarky” in the dictionary…
I admit that I deviated from the purpose of the thread a couple times when someone asked questions that I felt I needed to respond to. My displeasure is apparent there. But in all of my picture posts I believe I am pointing out what parts are what, and whether they will be able to be reproduced under the new system. I do express my dissatisfaction against tonics at least twice, yes. I dislike the way tonics are handled in this game in general, and don’t think they are an appropriate solution.
I am also not the sort to give up and say “there’s nothing I can do”. That’s what the forums are for… to give people a chance to express their opinions with the devs. I will continue to do so, and I still think this thread is a better way to make them understand how important this is to some people. It is visual, and more positive overall than the main thread.
SUSPICIOUS BARREL
Very well named! As you can see, this barrel next to the well in Applenook Village (just north of Lion’s Arch) floats in midair! Quite suspicious indeed!
(Borlis Pass)
this seems to be again i wont look special , and showing pics as well to prove your point? some how i just find this even more sad than before LOL
(And imagination is cheaper!)
will there be individual mix and match pieces in future releases? Or will they all be complete sets?
We will continue to release mix and match armor skin pieces
“continue” is kind of vague… up until now I don’t think you’ve released anything but Shoulder and Glove skins… any chance we will see the rest of the armor pieces at some point?
I think you meant to say “HUGE FLOATING Shoulder” and “OVERSIZED glove” skins.
But then again, a friend showed me his World of Warcraft game again. Compared to that, GW2’s stuff is tiny!
But weird styling aside, we would like some individual CLOTHING-LOOK pieces, not armors. (Well, both actually.)
And I can’t stress this enough… NO TONICS FOR CLOTHING! It gives us ZERO customizability, and they come off by themselves when you don’t want them to.
Ooh, guys! I didn’t realize for some reason that the Wintersday top was separate from the big poofy skirt (which I didn’t really care for). I thought it was a one-piece like most of the medium armors. Looks real good with the starter skirt, and now I need those shoes as well!
But… (sniffle).
Lol, fun times and some cool looking toons. I’m not one to play dress up, but I still think it stinks Anet is taking something it’s players enjoy out. What was their reason and why turn stuff into tonics? Why can’t they just let all that stuff be skins for use?
There had been a faction of players asking to be able to use Town Clothes in combat for a long time. My guess is that they saw an opportunity to do this when the Wardrobe was being developed. For technical reasons (clipping and who knows what else), many of the existing Town Clothes were unable to coexist with Armors unless instituted in a new way.
So they came up with all-in-one “Outfits” to replace most of the Town Clothes. (Poof! A ton of individual Town Clothing pieces are instantly gone from the game).
Some individually sold items do work okay along with armor, so they will be turned into Skins. No loss there (mostly).
Then some remaining items that don’t fall under either category will become TONICS. Since they are Tonics, they will be undyeable, and will be removed from your character for various reasons such as entering a new zone. And you can only use one Tonic at a time. The way I understand it, if you have the Dragon Emblem T-Shirt, for example, it will become a Tonic. When you drink it you will be in your T-Shirt, plus they are adding pants, shoes, and whatnot for the rest of your body. So everyone with that Tonic will be exactly identical. Same clothing parts, same non-dyeable colors.
All in all, we are losing a ton of customizability in our Town Clothing. I can appreciate that ANet was answering the wishes of some of their players. But they may not have realized what a large portion of their customers use pieces from this Town Clothing, and parts of that Costume etc. to individually customize their non-combat experience. Now our characters will look like they all came from the same cookie cutter. Everything will be “combat clothing” now (mostly), so down-time looks are going to suffer big-time, and perhaps disappear.
People paid real money in many cases to develop their characters’ looks. I myself often bought a “set” just for one specific piece. They aren’t even offering Gem refunds for those sets. So in addition to taking away our creativity, they also hit many people in the wallet. Tension is understandable high.
We can only hope ANet hears our anguish, and agrees something must be done. If it is too late right now, that’s understandable. But I would love to hear them state that they WILL be looking into this. Promising to remake the old costumes (and the items that are slated to become tonics) as SKINS would be awesome. We would wait as patiently as possible while they replace our losses. Then if they want to continue down the one-piece “outfit” route thereafter, that’s fine by me. But I for one feel cheated right now.
Head: Shades (hidden, but I usually show them
Chest: basic shirt
Legs: Wintersday leggings
Feet: Wintersday bootsRIP
You look like one of the Divinity’s Reach Noble class!
Hey, guys! Hop on over to THIS thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-Mix-n-Match-TOWN-CLOTHES
…and post your Mix ‘n’ Match Town Clothes pictures to show ANet in a positive way how much you will miss it if they carry through with this ugly scenario!
Here’s Bubbles Powderpuff sporting another outfit I’ll be sad to see go; the “Farmer’s Daughter”. Merely the Cook’s Coat and Shoes replacing starter clothes.
“She was only a cowboy’s daughter, but all the horsemen knew ’er”

The Terrace lets you fast travel to LA. The Airship does not. Someday I hope to want to go back to LA again, and it would be nice to do so from the ship.
The Terrace is also much nicer to navigate for my Charr and Norn characters. The Airship is like a tight Jumping Puzzle. Even for smaller races it’s almost too cramped, and you have to fiddle sometimes to make sure you’re talking to the right NPC or using the right station.
The Airship forces you to sit through a DOUBLE loading screen if you do the Daily Activity from there. One screen to get back to the ship from your Activity, and then immediately it kicks you off the airship to Gendarran Fields below; another loading screen. Make that THREE loading screens in a row if you need to get back up to the ship again.
Fast Travel to cities puts you at different places. I actually prefer the Airship for this. It puts me right inside the main entrance, so I can just turn around and step out the door to get outside and begin my questing. But that’s just personal preference; to each his own.
Each have their advantages, though I also wish each had the same NPCs and destinations available. And I wish they didn’t cause multiple loading screens if you log out from there or do the Daily Activity from there.
Have you tried Jezza’s Flamethrower?
The flamethrower auto attack on engineer lights up areas very well so perhaps the auto attack on this consumable flamethrower would be the same.
I think you have the winner, Ronin!
Until they come up with a brighter light source I can use that is continual, I will be able to use Jezza’s Flamethrower. It doesn’t spread the light out in a big radius, but it does get the light far enough out into the distance that I can see my landing spot.
Thanks to Ronin and everyone for their ideas! If you come up with anything else, please illuminate me!
Just introduce him to some of the in-game content. Who’s your Daddy?
You guys didn’t read the info on Town Clothes did you? Some of them are turning into regular armor skins. gg.
Some. Only some. Lots of individual pieces are being lost as they’re being turned into one-piece “outfits”. It’s impacting a lot of people as you can tell since we’re averaging 6 pages of outrage each day so far over the last 4 days.
Toys will no longer have a Toy slot. They will be converted by the Black Lion Weapons guy. If you want to use them, you need to drag them from your Inventory into your weapon slot, REPLACING your “real” weapon. If I am an Elementalist (with no weapon-swapping ability), then won’t I have to flee until I am no longer in combat mode so that I can put a real weapon in my hand? …Or will the Transformation of a Toy also give it real combat skills? I’ve heard nothing about this.

Everything will be “armor” now, for the most part Angelica. I don’t see myself using the wardrobe much, but as far as I know it won’t have any size constraints. I already have many armor pieces that I carry around in my Inventory to switch my characters’ looks whenever I desire. I guess I will have to buy even MORE armors to use my old Town Clothes skins on so I can switch into those at any time without the transmutation costs of the Wardrobe. For me it all adds up to lots more Inventory space needed.
Many old Town Clothes individual pieces are being lumped into single whole “outfits”, taking a lot of the current individuality out of your town clothes choices.
Check the other threads here. You are far from alone in your outrage. The option for refunds also appears limited.
Probably my fave town clothing mix and match
Wow!
Why do I have this feeling that she’s actually made of liquid metal?
I will not mess with that!
