…And since we’re changing swimsuit colors, here’s another. Not a “manual” emote; I waited around until she performed just the right “automatic” emote for me, as if she’s washing her hair under the waterfall. I like this one for the closeup detail… it is from the Betas when they let us take super hi-resolution shots. (Bring ’em back!)

I love screen caps! Especially beautiful vistas uncluttered by my toon in the foreground (/SLEEPing below the camera) or with my toon POSED. For this, I’m not talking about just standing still and saying “cheese!”. I mean striking an appropriate pose using emotes, and freezing the action at just the right spot.

Starting with one of my first, and still favorite toon-less beauty shots; Divinity’s Reach looking like Disneyland:

Nope. Entire game designed for being on foot. If they added mounts they would need to take away swiftness, make larger maps, make quests take longer, etc etc. Won’t happen.

I guess you didn’t read everything. Take the flying broom, but make it look like a mount instead. The people who want to be seen on a mount get their wish. And it changes absolutely nothing. What are you afraid of?

I would like LOTS of things to be account bound instead of soulbound. (Soulbound fireworks? Get real!) But changing now would mean I threw a boatload of money away on every duplicate dye in my account. It would mean a substantial loss of gold for me. Please tell me how you could institute account bound dyes without making a lot of people feel cheated.

Keep in mind: I do not have space in my inventory to be “refunded” all of my duplicate dyes. And even if I did, I could not sell them for anywhere close to what I paid for them (since people would only need ONE of each dye, and the demand would be lower.)

Whether they are or not, my personal opinion is that they are kinda ugly and I am stopped from working on several Legendaries that I would otherwise want because of that effect. (Besides, the footprints thing has been done to death.) I would be all for some way to cherry-pick what effects I show.

There should be race/class based mounts!

Hamfast.8719

First of all, there are no horses in the game. And most critters you see in the wild have a running speed that looks just fine, even though you can outrun most with a little speed boost. Some characters would look silly on some mounts. But to each his own. Some people like “silly-looking”. Which leads us right into my next point…

When did looking stupid-looking ever stop anyone? (I’m looking at YOU, oversized shoulder armor, and monstrous weapons!) I am against anything that blocks my view during combat too. But when you get attacked riding your broom, POOF! You are dismounted and thrust into your combat armor. Like the broom, mounts would respond like Town Clothes. They would not be in the way when it counts. How would they scale? How do weapons scale? (Besides, if they introduced “Cultural mounts” as the OP suggests, they would not look inappropriate to the race in question).

All I am hearing is that you don’t like the visual effect. Well guess what? Lots of people do like it. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you are no more “right” than the people who would like to see mounts.

Mounts as “Town Clothes” would do nothing to harm your gameplay. Does anyone complain about the broom? Is it hurting your gaming experience?

Change JUVENILE to TAMED once Charmed

Once a Ranger has charmed a pet, please rename it to “Tamed” instead of “Juvenile”. Since it is apparently too hard to let us rename our pets and have that name stick, then at least don’t make us run halfway across the map to charm a pet already belonging to another Ranger. That’s as bad as putting Bank and TP icons on the mini map when a player uses items to summon those for personal use.

I am guessing that one of the more difficult aspects of adding mounts (or new emotes for that matter) to the game, is that it would involve recalling all their human actors, dressing them up in the goofy suits with hundreds of motion sensors, and recording the many completely new motion effects. Then they need to be edited, hundreds of pieces of already-existing armors need to be checked and adjusted for clipping, etc. That is why (for example) the Consortium Harvesting Sickle used an existing animation. It’s a big time and effort thing I would think.

But yes, as far as the impact of adding mounts into the game as purely cosmetic items (like the Witches Broom), it would have zero negative effect. If they can get the riding animation accomplished, then mounts instituted as visual effects wouldn’t change a thing other than to make many people happy. I see nothing wrong with that.

I read your post, so you can put your sarcasm and insult ‘you-know-where’…
Your text is about floating castles, which you want to reach with flying mounts.

Or a Cattlepult. Or Bazaar of the Four Winds jumping skills on steroids. I don’t care. Reading and comprehending are two different things.

And that leads directly to that mount can be used anywhere else too.

No, it DOESN’T lead directly to that. It could take the form of a video clip, like the Sylvari “elevators” in the Grove. No player control. No detours off into the sunset.

Anyway, you should titled your topic properly.

My post was titled perfectly. Part of my intent was to show that there are people who are so inflexible and single-minded about certain topics, that they put in their two-cents without even reading the post. You’re just upset because it worked, and I caught you in my speed trap.

Maybe the Wizard is an Asura, and we will be able to get there via Asura Gate someday. I just wanna get there. The destination is my concern, not the method of travel. How about it, ANet? Can we visit someday?

Mounts have no sense in this game while we have so many Waypoints. It could work if all the WP’s would be removed and we could travel only by mounts (on ground or in air).

And the prize for inattention goes to… (the envelope, please).

You knew that somebody was gonna say something without reading the post, didn’t ya?

Well, ask the charr, they already have a cow launcher that you can use to get on top of Moorwatch Tower.

Yes, I mentioned the Cattlepult. About as exciting as a waypoint though. I’d prefer it if you actually went flying through the air and went splat, rather than just pretending that’s what happened.

No. Nope. Nuh-uh. No way. Never. It is WAY too late in the game to do that now.

And I would never come close to making back the money I spent on the ones that were purchased, since there would be less demand.

There are TONS if super-cheap dyes. I’m talking less than 1 silver piece each. Everyone can get plenty of acceptable colors for multiple characters without breaking the bank. And after nearly a year, you should have tons of dyes from drops too, without having spent a penny in the Trading Post.

Hamfast.8719

I don’t particularly care for any of this batch of weapons either, OP. If I ever get a weapon claim ticket I will be saving it for future offerings. The lack of shiny blades in GW2 has always been a concern of mine too.

As far as armor goes, I am glad some people like the trenchcoats, and butt-capes. More power to them. I just want to point out that (not including the new offerings) those styles account for over 80% of what is available to medium armor wearers.

Human Males: http://www.gw2armor.com/human/male/medium_list.php

Human Females: http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/medium_list.php

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

I know your artists have imagination. Let them use it! Long coats may be fine for an Engineer who needs lots of pockets. But “realistically” (if I may use that word in a fantasy setting) Rangers would get them caught in the underbrush, and Thieves wouldn’t be sneaky and maneuverable. Take a gander at the GW1 Ranger armors and tell me what percentage are long coats: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger_armor

It doesn’t rain long or hard enough in GW2 to warrant all the medium wet-weather gear we’ve been given.

Way ahead of you: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Norn-Animal-Spirit-Town-Clothes/first#post2472476

I started with the idea of using Town Clothes to let Norn use their animal forms. (As Elite skills, they can only use it for 30 seconds every 4 minutes, so you almost never see them).

The thought evolved into cultural clothing for all races. You are right; the percent of Sylvari players in “plant clothing” is way lower than the percent of Sylvari NPC’s wearing it.

I’m not endorsing plant clothes for everyone. Just cultural clothing based on your selections made during character creation.

Interesting idea, but needs work. The thing that pops out at me is weapon-swapping. If I swap away from the weapon that grants me the special utility skill, I don’t want to have an unused utility skill slot. (And even if I have a weapon-based utility skill for the new weapon, I may not wish to equip it). There would have to be a system in place to select an alternate skill (like when we go underwater).

And what if we want to swap from a Greatsword to a different Greatsword, but don’t want to use the special utility skill for both? (I know, it won’t be the case very often, but it will come up.)

I understand how you are thinking but since this is a game “realistically” does not apply.
I´m sure they could implement a race change ticket to the gem shop that lets you keep your achivements.

Also the cultural armor could automatically switch to the race you choose.

Suppose you don’t like or don’t want the armor from the new race?

Just start a new character. A lot of the fun playing a different race comes during the early parts of your storyline, when you are still in your own lands experiencing the culture. After that, invest in some XP Boosters.

Tooltips for ALL Asuran Gates; not just LA!

Pretty straightforward. In LA, hovering your pointer over a gate icon on the mini map tells you where it leads. It needs to be this way for all Asuran Gates everywhere. The main offender has always been Rata Sum, since it has the most gates crowded into one area. If (like me) you weren’t born and raised there, it means running up to within jumping distance of every gate until you locate the right one.

Easy fix. I don’t know why it still hasn’t been implemented.

And if you are a Norn or a Charr (or otherwise just too darned tall), them make yourself shorter! My Charr uses the ENDLESS TOY SOLDIER TONIC from Wintersday. He becomes as tall as an Asura, and travels on two legs (much easier to gauge jumps than when galloping along on four). I am sure there are others, but my Charr refused to be a Toy Princess Doll.

I think the Cultural Town Clothes idea could give Costume Brawling and Roleplaying a big boost, not to mention vastly increase the variety of what you see people wearing in town. Plus, of course, giving the Norn the shape-shifting ability we all want them to have so they aren’t just “big humans”!

It seems to me that you believe we have to mouse-click to select a target? Is that your problem?

Open your OPTIONS and go to the CONTROLS tab (the mouse icon). It should look like Envy’s attachment. Scroll down to the TARGETING section and set it up to use any keys you desire. No need to target by clicking your mouse on an enemy.

Viola! Problem solved! (Assuming my reading comprehension was adequate.)

Commander Tag in PvE

I get it. There is a valid reason for you to have your Commander’s Icon in PvE sometimes. Why can’t you understand that it doesn’t affect you in the least if I have the option to turn it off?

Heck, I’ve had numerous instances when I can’t find the merchant because the map symbol is obliterated by a Commander’s symbol.

Give us the OPTION. How can you argue against a personal option? You like it, you use it. I don’t like it, I don’t use it. Everybody wins.

Seemed to me they were mostly (mostly!) ganging up on lesser numbers. Did look fun though… for 30 seconds once every 4 minutes.

Yes. It’s bad enough that they only made a heavy-armor look for each skin. Kinda unfair to the other 6 Professions.

Many people now have Commander tags because it’s a cheaper way to say “Look at me!” than waving around a Legendary weapon.

See what you think of my solution in an earlier post:

Simply can’t work, because mobs scale with amount of players in the area and such, and it would look very silly if an enemy suddenly went from 100 HP to 150 without the ability to actually heal.

Excellent point, Lordkrall.

They just need to adjust things so that when there is no red color left in the health bar it means he’s DEAD!

Can’t stand the footsteps. Hate ‘em, even. Twilight users look like they’re leaking oil. And I refuse to follow anyone leaving yellow puddles everyplace they go.

@Hamfast – The number was a random estimate. It’s like when someone says “Subway has a thousand different sandwiches!” They don’t actually mean Subway has one thousand different sandwiches. They simply mean Subway has a lot of them.

A thousand pardons. …I mean a lot of pardons. Oh, I don’t know what I mean. But I think you mean sandwich combinations with all the ingredient choices, right? Drat! Now I’m hungry! What was this thread about again?
