Does this have something to do with my Golem Mini Pets (I have 3 different types) being practically silent now? I always loved the company of their mechanical thumps and clunks and whistles nearby. Now all of a sudden they are practically soundless. I’ve played will all the sliders, including the sound coming from musical instruments. No effect. My Golems are still deafeningly quiet.

Excessive Message Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

Very annoying.

I discovered only a couple days ago that it pertains to GW-mail as well. I had a fairly lengthy notice to go out to my Guildies (sorry, “Message of the Day” does not reach people. Nobody makes a special effort to go to the Guild menu and look at it). So I sent out mail, using CTRL-C to copy and CTRL-V to paste the message into a new letter. I got the excessive messaging error on the third person.

Seriously? This is already a slow method of delivering info. I’m sure there was at least a minute or two between sendings. It needs to be backed WAY off. Five whole people in my Guild, and I can’t even get a letter out to all of them without being told it’s excessive.

Excessive messaging should only be applicable to the “generic” chats (“Map” and “Say”). The other chats are for various groups, and we can decide for ourselves if we need to boot someone for being too talkative. And IGNORE should take care of people trying to use WHISPER in an excessive manner.

As far as mail goes, if you are in the same Guild as the recipient, or if you are on each others Friends list, excessive messaging should not apply. They really need better Guild communications (mass mail from officers, Message of the Day that appears onscreen at login, etc.)

The “Learn to Dance Volume 1” was a pretty heavy disappointment. Each one is just a 2-3 second repeating loop. Thank goodness for YouTube previews so I didn’t get suckered into buying it. They need to import some full dance routines from GW1. The female belly dance. The male “thrust” dance. The Thriller Dance. Even the Elaine Dance from Seinfeld. Each one was more fun than any in GW2.

As far as /chicken goes, that could be a dance too…

Right on the nose, Henri.

I mostly don’t hate underwater combat, but it needs help to attract more people to this realm.

Aquabreathers need to be comparable to other headgear. We need more skills too. My elementalist has only ONE self healing skill available underwater. What’s the logic behind that?

Weapon variety. More “pull-you-to-me” or “jump-me-to-you” ability for underwater melee weapons (and/or faster recharge time). It’s more difficult in three dimensions just to stay in swingin’ range.

Yes. Hair accessories. Not hair color.

People (who care about such things) get locked into a color scheme for their character because of the inability to change the color of their hair accessories (outside of a makeover kit).

I just think this is a logical way to handle coloring of these articles. It’d make Southsun Beach a more interesting place to vacation too.

If I may also be nit-picky, my female Asura’s hair ribbon got darker purple a couple weeks ago, and the pink accent square is now goldish. My armor was all color-matched to that little thing, mainly because it is not dyeable.

SUGGESTION (yes, I put this in the suggestions area too). When head armor is UNchecked (not shown), it should have a single color channel reserved for dying accessories.

Mini-Map Icon Power!

in Suggestions

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

We need to get MORE out of the mini-map icons. There are so many nowadays that they are stepping all over each other at the border of the map, and it is becoming a jumbled, confusing mess of information.

First, we need to be able to toggle on/off the icons we want to see, just like we can with the full screen world map. (The little “eyeball” icon in the lower left.) We need to add to that list:

- Party Members
– Guild Members
– Team Members
– Squad Members
– Commanders

Then we need to be able to prioritize what icons are on top of other icons. (Maybe physically rate them from 1-10, or however many items there are?) For me, for example, there are times I don’t mind Commander icons, but at other times they completely conceal merchant icons, waypoints, and other important things.

There are some other things that probably shouldn’t be completely toggled off, but which could still benefit from prioritizing which are on top of others at the edge of the mini-map. These include:

- Personal Story Stars
– Undiscovered Waypoints / Skill Points
– Dynamic Event Icons
– Living World Event Icons
– Direction Indicators (ALL FOUR directions desperately needed!)

Goodies:

We could use the ability to click a downed/dead character’s icon and either whisper them, or send an automatic “A noble soul is coming to your aid!”

I also understand we will be getting (or do we already have? ) the mini-map on our screen when we die. In this case, it would be nice to automatically see ALL friendly player dots so you know someone is actually coming and not just trolling.

We should also be able to toggle on/off “Breadcrumbs” on the mini-map (those little dots that show you where you’ve been).

Anything else? Your thoughts?

Ahh… the Bunny and the Dragon! My all-time favorites too!

We have WAY too many “mini people” and not enough critters. I like the idea of my mini pets looking like mini PETS and not mini DOLLS.

My Ranger has a mini black bear, brown bear, wolf (Goedulf), snow leopard, and stalker to go with their full-sized counterparts. I think it looks great running around with a mama and baby combo. I have the lion cub too, which looks awesome, but there are no adult lions in the game for my Ranger to charm.

I have 15 Jennahs myself (8 characters, each of which got two except for my Main who got left out of the initial sending). Selling them would be out of the question if they weren’t account bound, since literally everyone already has one or will have one for free. They REALLY need to be Mystic Forgeable.

P.S. – I love the Hall of Monuments Tabby Cat and Raccoon too, since they are “real critters”. But you do realize that the mini white kitten from the Gem Store is the same size as my full-grown cat, but with a huge, oversized head? The first time I saw one I thought somebody had rolled a four-legged Asura.

Legendary Control

Legendaries will now be getting more functionality, with the ability to reselect stats on the fly.

But Legendaries are still primarily about looks. And since everybody has different tastes, people should have some control over the LOOKS of their Legendary as well.

Imagine if you will, a drop-down menu like the stat selection menu, but with check boxes to individually toggle on/off special effects (Footsteps on/off, Glow on/off, Attack Animations on/off, Miscellaneous Effects on/off).

Not only would this make more people happy, but being able to turn everything off would help in WvW, where sometimes the particle effects scream “Here I am! Target me!”

How to Institute Hair Accessory Color Change

in Suggestions

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

Hair Accessories are not freely dyeable. For those of us who like to color-coordinate our look, this means our toons will be using the same colors for life unless we fork over gems for a Hair Makeover Kit.

I assume that ANet has not addressed the many calls for freely dyeable hair accessories because then they’d have to add another space to the interface, and not all toons have hair accessories.

Easy fix!

Just use the existing headgear slot. When checked, your headgear is displayed and is dyeable as normal. When UNchecked, you should have one dye channel for hair accessories.

We will soon be salvaging blue and green items for ESSENCES OF LUCK which will add to our account-wide Magic Find until it reaches a maximum of 300%.

So far, through a year’s worth of achievement points, I imagine that most people are sitting at around 4% account-wide Magic Find. ANet has stated: In order to get everyone started on this new system, all current players will receive enough luck to get to +20% magic find.

PLEASE! Do not let our 4% be for nothing! Give us a true +20% so that we have 24%. Don’t just boost us all to 20 like the mostly-useless Birthday Scrolls of Experience. Shouldn’t I be ahead of somebody who just bought the game last week? I know 4% isn’t much to complain about, but there’s a principle involved here.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

Hamfast.8719

I have a Female Asura Mesmer dressed to match the different shades of pinks, purples, and blues traditional to the Mesmer. Except I noticed that my HAIR RIBBON is different now than it used to be. It is a DARKER purple, and the little decorative square is normally pink. It is now GOLD. I checked with another player with the same ribbon… they noticed it too. I checked my Total Transformation Kit, and ALL of the ribbons have a gold square now. And there is another purple in the Kit that is probably a better match than this is now.

See the picture: The pink and purple of my shoulders and hood were almost a perfect match to the colors in my hair ribbon. Now the ribbon is a shade or so darker, and the square is gold.

Please fix!

P.S. – All of the hair accessories for every race and sex need to include a true black (Abyss) color! The world would be less colorful, but you would have fewer people after your heads to make hair accessories dyeable. (But yeah, they are right. Hair accessories need to be freely dyeable. We are locked into an armor color for life.)

Famous Last Words!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

From very early on in the game, I noticed that there are some mighty silly last words spoken by dying enemies. Stuff that’s either patently goofy, or straight out of the Supervillain’s Handbook. Here are some of them:

Bandit:
– You got me!
– Nice one! (My favorite!)
– What have you done?
– I’m dead.
– I’m going to get you!

Centaur:
– More will come… (I hope so! )
– Your victory will be short-lived!

Skritt:
– You’re on your own!

Hylek:
– You win… I die.
– I thought I was winning…

Risen:
– I’m gone

Got any other good ones you’ve come across? (Strangely enough, I haven’t noticed pirates say anything at all. Perhaps they’re a more “serious” bunch.)

NO MORE FOOTPRINTS!

The Flameseeker Prophecies is about the only Legendary I like. Most others are way over-the-top on particle effects, and they’re all the same. “Swooshing” effects through the air. Footprints. (God, I loathe those stupid footprints! It looks like you peed your pants.) Ridiculously oversized. They can do better than that!

I like bright, shiny metals and some effects if they aren’t overpowering. Legendaries should look epic… the “cutesy” stuff has been done to death in GW2. (I’m looking at you, Pink Quaggan hat!) There are darned few Legendaries that truly fit that description, which is why The Flameseeker Prophecies is the one I am working on.

Yes, OP, I see you want the option to turn off footprints. That’s great. But Guild Wars 2 has some great and imaginative artists. Time for them to start using their imaginations again and come up with new special effects.

I absolutely LOVE the downed mechanic. I’m pretty good at rallying on most Professions. But I speak of PvE. Please do NOT change a thing for PvE! The last thing I want to do while fighting to survive is accidentally hit some “suicide key” that replaced one of my valuable recovery skills.

PvE and PvP and WvW are different. If so many people in PvP and WvW dislike the downed state, I have no problems with ANet changing it for PvP and WvW. But many of my most memorable game times come from rallying to come back and win a fight. So leave it alone in PvE!

Who said anything about replacing your current ones?

And TBH if you’ve got 5 whole skills (usual 4 plus suicide) and are managing to hit the wrong ones, I begin to see why you’re on the floor to start with…

Sorry… it was pretty late when I posted. Brain not fully engaged. Downed skill 5 would be extra, not a replacement. Got it. Awake now.

The rest of your comment is just trolling, though. Who doesn’t hit the wrong key occasionally? I certainly don’t want a suicide key right next to the other keys I am using in a desperate attempt to save myself. I can see almost recovering and then accidentally suiciding because my finger slipped a quarter inch to the right. Change it from “5” to some other key further away and I won’t have a problem. [merged] Level 20 Scroll --> +20 Level Scroll?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

My argument against the scrolls as they are now is that they will very rarely aid the character that is celebrating the birthday. The scroll will most likely be given to an alt.

“Happy Birthday Timmy. Here is a bike with training wheels.”
“Thanks Dad, but I’m 25 and I already drive a motorcycle.”
“Oh well. Give it to your son. Happy Birthday!”

Yes. Perfect assessment.

I have 8 characters (one for each profession) all created on the first day of Headstart. As a player of GW1, I expected “birthdays” to be character based, and not account-creation day based. So all 8 characters still exist today. (Although I only got presents for SEVEN of my eight characters. My Main is still waiting, but that’s another thread.)

After a full year, all eight of my characters are above level 20, especially after already having received one of these scrolls from Achievement Chests. So barring the introduction of a new profession, they are useless as-is.

If they weren’t Account Bound, we could at least sell them to all those people making threads asking for Race/Profession change.

Several threads have reported the bug in previewing transmuted items. They appear in the preview window in their un-transmuted form instead of the form we changed them to. The Forum Moderators have even thanked us for our bug reports, and said they will pass it along to the game developers.

Now I see this under the WIKI Patch Notes for Build: 22,643 August 22: Previewing transmuted equipment will display the icon and skin of the item that provided the stats instead of the item that provided the skin.

Does this mean someone thought there was a good reason to do this?

BAD IDEA!

A) We transmuted the item for a reason! We don’t like the original look, and don’t want to see it.

B) Unlike GW1, the icons don’t really look much like the actual item. Previewing is the only way we know which item is which without having to actually equip it.

If there is some reason we need to preview the un-transmuted form, then add “Preview Untransmuted” to our options. Don’t take away our ability to sort through our own inventories!

No birthday gift at 12 months

Makeover Kits are NOT the problem. I have used Total Makeovers on several characters from back when they were first introduced to as recently as a couple months ago. No problems because of that.

I created all 8 of my characters (one of each Profession) on day one of the Headstart, and kept all of them precisely because of birthday presents. (I played GW1 since the Betas too, and figured they would carry on the tradition in a similar fashion).

One of my characters (my MAIN character, in fact) did not get a Birthday present. I might have had a full mailbox at the initial mailing, but I don’t now. I have tried logging completely out of the game. I have tried zoning. Still no present.

I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Thank you, ANet, for giving us anything at all. But I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with 7 Account-Bound Jennahs (8 if my Main ever gets his). Bar Brawl Broken

No, I’m not talking about the Divinity’s Reach “Busted Flagon” bar. I’m talking about the event just outside the Black Citadel where members of the 3 “good” Legions are getting ready to start a bar fight.

It has been STUCK (in the Borlis Pass server) for a couple days that I know of. It reports one Ash Legion brawler still needs to learn his lesson, but there is nobody left.

And if you should happen to open the Busted Flagon for the GW2 birthday weekend, that’s okay with me too!

Norn Animal-Spirit Town Clothes

Every now and then, when someone asks to have access to NPC-only clothes (Town Clothes or armor), somebody else replies that they heard ANet doesn’t want to let us have them because it would be a monumental task; clipping issues, etc.

Well that can’t be correct. Everybody’s favorite Mesmer outfit is on a LOT of NPCs, many of which go into combat and have “chat” emotes and movements that even players don’t have. And what about Lady Kasmeer Meade’s feathery dress? Within a month of people on the forums saying they would buy it in a heartbeat, BOOM! …here it is!

What I guess I am saying, is that much of what we are looking for here in special Cultural Town Clothes is very doable. Much of the groundwork is already laid out in existing stuff. So keep at ’em, guys!

I personally think this would make a dandy 1st Birthday gift!

I dunno about that thing… standing there waving victoriously puts me in the mind of all those dictatorship countries with giant pictures of their “benevolent leader” all over the place. And when I spoke to Ellen herself at the base of the projector, she said “I’m the Law around here!” I think she’s on a power trip.

And what’s with the Queen’s new Fembots? They look kinda evil to me. Mark my words, revolution is around the corner somewhere soon!

Server downtime in news feed, please

Yes! I didn’t know about it at all until I tried to log in. It said there was a server problem and to try again in a little bit. When I tried later, I got the same message. No explanation. I clicked the link to go to Support, where it gave me a couple basic things to check. It took several minutes before I realized the link had jumped me halfway down the page! When I scrolled up, I saw the (skipped) notification of the planned outage.

So, YES… please notify us in-game at the same time you notify Faceboogers and Twits.

Dyes should be account wide

in Suggestions

Hamfast.8719

When GW2 started, yes. A year later, no. Way too late to do that to us.

I have TONS of money spent on dyes across 8 characters. Many duplicates. I do NOT want to have wasted all that money on my dyes just because YOU are too cheap to buy dyes for your characters.

You can not “refund” me the money… nobody knows what I paid. You can not give me back all the duplicates to sell – there isn’t that much inventory space in my entire account. I could never sell them for as much as I paid anyway, since if everyone only needed ONE of every color, there wouldn’t be as much demand.

I also have certain colors I prefer for certain characters. I do not want to have to sift through an entire account worth of dyes, if (for example) a certain character only uses browns and greens.

It has been a year. Don’t you have a gazillion dyes anyway just from drops? And if not, look at the Trading Post. There are TONS of super-cheap dyes to keep you happy.

The WvW Truce Bubble

in Suggestions

The Truce Bubble forms around the caster. It is not ranged. It can’t be used as a “blind all of the enemy” unless the caster wants to sacrifice himself trying to get into position. (And I believe I’ve read that AoE’s only affect up to 5 enemies now, to prevent massive wipes of the tight-clustered zergs?)

And there are “gentlemen” in WvW. I’ve been allowed to grab a Vista or two here or there without being molested. (Of course I’ve been gang-tackled just as often 5 to 1 by people looking to get their daily kills, too.

I intentionally left the Truce Bubble relatively harmless, with a slight penalty for breaking the truce while inside. Truces are like that. Very fragile, and easily broken. But also very helpful when honored.

Then don’t step into the AoE. If you are dead and don’t want someone to discover your name with a Truce Bubble, then waypoint out. (Yes, I meant SHIELD skill, thank you. Corrected.)

The WvW Truce Bubble

in Suggestions

Suggestion for a cheap WvW item… the “Truce Bubble”. It would be an inexpensive, stackable inventory item that could be purchased with coins or Badges of Honor.

When activated, the Truce Bubble creates a visible dome similar to the Guardian shield skill “Shield of Absorption”, along with a white flag flying overhead.

Opposing players inside the area of effect of the Bubble can see each others names, as well as speak to them using the SAY chat. This is all the Bubble does. It does not enforce any sort of truce.

The shield lasts for 5 minutes, and does not move. The Bubble drops early if the caster leaves the area of effect. Other players can enter or leave at will. If anyone inside the Bubble makes an attack, he will be Blinded for several seconds, and the Bubble will drop (with a nice special effect, indicating that the fight is on!).

The Truce Bubble could do many interesting things:

It could encourage chivalry. PvEers could use them to ask for safe passage to a Vista. A well-fought battle could end with the combatants congratulating each other and perhaps developing a grudging admiration as well as personal rivalries, or even friendships.

It could be an avenue towards deviousness. People may try to use it to get in close for spying purposes. Others may agree to a truce and then bushwhack their opponent.

It would likely be used to verbally taunt dead opponents. This would be bad from a “play nice, children” standpoint, but it would also discourage the dead people from sticking around and acting as spies.

People, or even whole servers could get reputations for good or bad. But I think it would add a whole new level of intrigue to WvW.

[Legendary] Reputation Discusion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hamfast.8719

Hamfast.8719

I think part of the issue remains the word “legendary”. I think if they changed that, most of the forum qualms would go away.

How about “Extraordinary” or “Pinnacle” weapons? Something that means they’re special or top of the line, but without the insinuation that there is some sort of history behind them?

OP: A weapon can’t give you a reputation. Only you can do that. Since LOOKS are a matter of personal taste, and Legendary weapons are all about looks, then my feelings towards another person’s weapon are going to be biased along those lines. But their weapon isn’t going to give me an opinion on the player. For that you need to see how they act.

How do I feel about people displaying Legendaries? I may scratch my head at The Juggernaut, wondering why someone opted to go to all that trouble to wield a lamp post. Or I may enjoy the galactic view inside the depths of Twilight while despising the oily footprints and black “swoosh” it leaves behind when swung. But I can respect the dedication required in getting something hard to achieve. Displaying the weapon for me shows dedication. Kudos for that. Your taste in weapons is a personal preference. My opinion of you depends on what you say and do.

I will finish for now with a double emote from my Personal Story. My character's stepfather Andrew has been injured by a bad guy, so she stands vigil with his daughter Petra at his bedside. I waited for the NPC to perform the “brushing her hair aside” emote, because it looks as if she’s swooning. I think my toon is caught at the split second upon entering the /cry emote, so she looks as if she’s reacting in grief upon seeing the poor man lying in bed. I believe I also angled the NPC the proper direction by interacting with her.

It took a LONG TIME to catch a double emote, and I couldn’t leave my personal story for a break, because you can never go back.

Here (previously posted elsewhere on these forums) was my solution to people calling for swimsuits to be sold on the Trading Post. (Same “fiddling with her hair” emote… sorry.) Sort of a duplicate of my previous shot, but the scene is just so relaxing. Makes me want to get away on a vacation.
