These builds lack direct damage and make up for it by using conditions. Conditions are delivering damage even when you are moving around so they are great for bunker survival builds where you need to run around/dodge alot.
All conditions completely ignore armor and Toughness.

They have asked for feedback, but it seems to be a one-way street. There are far too many people on the forums that are intent on dismissing others as white-knights or over-entitled whiners in order to make their own positions seem stronger. If someone enjoys something then let them it’s not your job to stop them, if they want to complain then let them it’s not your job to stop them.
Some people are having serious issues because of the features implemented in the patch. ArenaNet’s refusal to comment on those issues makes some of them feel as if they’re being ignored.
If ArenaNet were to open a frank exchange then most people would accept what comes of that (looking at Josh and John Smith’s contributions here). Saying nothing does nothing except further disenfranchise your customers.
Its partly the players’ fault for ignoring being told that its the holidays in almost every single thread. ANet does not have to make official annoouncements when they take time off, but given that almost every single company takes time off on the holidays, its extremely likely that they have also done so.
But no matter how many people have repeatedly posted this, five minutes later you get another conspiracy theory thread “they don’t reply on purpose!!!!!!”, which only ensures that nothing on this forum ever does get read when they actually get around to having to free time to read it and take it all in.
Its like someone said in another thread: “ANet” is being used as a curse word now. So how do people realistically expect them to actually read this stuff.
I have never seen the community this toxic towards them before. Not only that, this may be the most toxic I have ever seen the community towards each other, since this patch brought people who normally do not post on the forums into the forums and this creates alot of conflict with others who do not share their ideals.
Personally, I would not bother reading any of this.

You only have to unlock the XIII Trait if the character already existed….it’s not that big a deal. Now starting a new character will be a bit of a different experience and (IMO) better.
How is not fun to go out into the world and earn the traits you want as you level up?
Now I can understand those with mid level characters reacting badly to how the Trait points unlock now, but I understand they are trying to give players incentive to go out into the open world rather than level up at a crafting table or in a Champ Zerg (which is still possible now).
Only if starting a new character will the leveling up experience be drastically altered. If you didn’t like leveling up as before you can still do it and only spend the money to buy the Traits you want.
I don’t know about the lower tier traits but they did screw up on the grandmaster traits.
Karka queen? Spawns 3 times a day, if you can’t make it for those well too bad.
Promenade of the Gods? Wait around Cursed Shore until the event shows up and hope everyone around agrees to let the event fail. Same for the other temples. Slightly better for Grenth and Melandru but it is still standing around waiting for who knows how long. That is also what new players/characters have to look forward to.Alternatively you can go farm the gold and buy the guides because gold farming is just so fun and exciting ….
The most expensive trait is only 3 gold, and most of them cost 1 gold. This is a only single boss kill worth of Globs of Ectoplasms salvaged from rares.
Existing characters have no room for complaints. Newbies who wish to unlock all their traits with gold must pay 50g and 400 skill points. Most of my characters don’t even have 400 skill points even after an entire year of heavy play.
The gold takes two days to make ….

You can also buy Obsidian Shards for Fractal Relics and Laurels.
Doom, doom, doom, doom…
I’m not happy with alot in the patch (mainly town cloths), but this constant “Fix the game, it’s unplayable” thing is very overblown…
Going to sleep.
you should probably go in the bug section of this forum :P
Have a nice read, some of the bug in game are there since the start and yet, they are not fixed. Poor maintenance..
ANet is a game company. It is not cost effective for a company to devote resources to fixing bugs. This is because the majority of players only respond to constant new content (even if temporary) and to have something to do, a fancy carrot to chase, and only a small number of people will care that bugs got fixed.
We all need to just accept that were are the minority in online games, and always will be because that is just how people are. They flock to hype, flash and dramatics, and will only stay with something as long as they have a new “rewarding” time-sink.
In fact, MMOs are deliberately designed on this principle. I recommend that you do some reading up about Skinner’s Box and the true origins of games like WoW.
They will only consider that something is wrong when they are losing money, and that doesn’t make them evil, it just makes them a company.
At the end of the day the game is a business, not a toy.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Um can someone actually help me? That video only explained how traits work when you’re level 80, it didn’t say how or when you actually acquire trait points or how those books work with trait points you acquired. Like i’m level 10 and didn’t get any trait points.
You get slot skills from level 1-30, unlocking slots 7, 8, 9, and 10. Then once your #10 slot is finally unlocked and you have your Elite skill, you start getting trait points. After this you receive about 1 point every 5 levels, for a total of 14 at lv80.
Why not play them all? They all contribute different things in different situations. The Thief is likely the best for PvP/WvW, but may struggle in PvE. The Mesmer is extremely good in both game modes (some even say they are overpowered in PvP/WvW). Finally, the Engineer is only average at everything, but fun to play.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Thanks for the help and thank you for the build! I really needed help with my traits and that seems to work splendidly, I went to southsun cove and found that I could solo level 80s with ease and didn’t have to switch between all the attunements trying to heal and find the damage. It’s amazing how much of your characters strength is having the right setup, I wish I had known that a year ago!
I spent a good 12 hours playing today on a massive binge and did some dungeon paths and a lot of the world events. I made about 10 gold and 14 ectos using this build, it’s helped me an awful lot, although something I’ve noticed is that I am doing a lot less than a lot of the other players, but maybe that will come later when my skills get better.
I have a question about that though, 14 ectos is only about 5 golds worth and in a similar amount of time I made 10 from this dungeon team, why do people bother with the world events if you can just run dungeons and buy ectos?I was talking to a guildie about ascended today. I feel that it is a nice goal to go for but I worry that I am wasting my money. A guildie told me that it will cost about 80 gold to go from 400 to 500 and then a further 40 for each ascended weapon. Somehow, I don’t really see how I can make that money back using this, seeing as it is only a 5% increase, it means that I would have to earn roughly 2400 gold with this weapon before it makes its value back. I know that the ascended is entirely optional but I can’t really shake this little feeling that I’m doing it wrong if I’m not playing with the most optimised build.
People farm ectos because they are used in almost every high level receipe and can be salvaged for Piles of Crystalline Dust and a large amount of luck, increasing your MF.
Don’t mistake receiving gold as receiving profit; there’s a difference. There are many ways for your character to profit and while it may seem that earning gold straight up is the best way, eventually you’ll feel the lack of Magic Find hurting you or you won’t have enough crafting materials to create your items.
Its far more expensive to order all your materials (especially Globs of Ectoplasm) from the Trading post than to have farmed them out yourself and used MF promotion.
Also, Elementalist isn’t really “great” in any gear besides Celestial. They can do good in Berserker in PvE (highest DPS of all classes, but blink and you die), and defensive, supportive sets such as Clerics in WvW, but ultimately you’re always going to feel like a trash mob with your low stats, which is why most Eles go for Celestial.
Its just hard to compensate for having the lowest armor and lowest health in the game compared to the other classes, because you can’t just go damage duet o your high base health (Warrior, Necromancer), nor conditions due to your ability to Bunker (Ranger, Engineer) and lack the protection of stealth (Mesmer, Thief).
Its often regarded as the most difficult, overnerfed, hardcore class.

This is, unfortunately, typical of CenturyLink and other similar ISPs that oversell their service when they don’t have the hardware to support it.
Basically for example they support 100 customers on a line but put 200 on it.
You can get a hard line to your router by using Powerline Networking. These are small adapters that you plug into your wall outlets that share your network connection with the entire house at 200 Mbps. I use TP-Link devices myself.
Improving your Internet speed will not help. It is not a bandwidth problem, even 1Mbps would be enough if the ISP was worth a grain of salt, but they’re not.
The best you can do is to call them and complain, alot.

Alot of the changes have officially made the game unplayable…..The main one Trait points. My character sucks now due to the change and not being able to have all of our points and only have a few. My level 51 only has 4 points and when I place them he sucks hardcore. Its officially made my characters weaker then the lowest of foes on any map….there will be no completing even the easiest of maps the way it is now.
So you’re getting +400 stat points from your traits and you can’t kill things? What?
By the way, this still like 66% of what a level 51 would’ve had before, and the mobs were made easier, so I honestly fail to see the problem. People keep imagining that the changes are bigger than they really are.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Its a game, most people play it to unwind when they feel tired or stressed, not take on hardcore bosses with uber skill for several hours after a long day at work.
IMO, this kind of content does not belong in open world and never did.
If you guys remember in the character story, we once go in Orr with the sylvaries. Sure, it was simply an interactive vision which was all blurred out and yellowish but it could be a way to go back to Orr but at the same time, It wouldn’t make alot of sense since the sylvarie race is not that old and personally, if I could choose the time when I want to go back, I’d be before the exodus but well, the sylvaries didn’t existed back then. Also, I read the lore about the time B.E. and 1: humans were not allowed to enter Arah because it was the city of the human gods and 2: Apparently, they were so bright that it would make someone who stare at them for too long blind(Read the lore about Malchor the sculptor, it’s all explained there). If we keep in mind that we can’t go in Orr after beating Zaithan, there’s not a lot of things holding us from going there in the past but then it wouldn’t be lore-wise to allow us to enter arah/see the gods and that’s primarily what I would want to do if I had the chance to go back. Nonetheless I would still like to see Orr before it was all gloomy and ugly.
Believe it or not, that mission is actually a partial copy of Cursed Shore located between The Grove and Rata Sum on the world map.
Its not realistic to use this technique on a mass scale.
All i know is if my armor ever changes to some super sexualized version, I will be kittened. I like my armor the way it is.
All I know is no one here asked for skimpy or super sexualized versions of anything.
I know, but really there is nothing wrong with the current skins. What would you have be different?
You clearly did not read the thread at all. It was repeatedly explained by several posters. We want more girly armors and outfits. Girly does not mean skimpy, although honestly any variety is welcome by me compared to the current staleness.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Defense for missing armor parts is calculated in even if you are not wearing the required part if your level is too low to equip it. This is why newbies start without them; you don’t gain defense when first equipping them, just a sense of progression.
However I admit it may not behave this way in PvP due to its lack of levels.
Arah never had back items, because it is not a temple. The boss at the end also does not count as a world boss, and does not give you a daily bonus chest.
Melandru had Wayfarer, which was removed during the Magic Find update.
Get used to it, they have flat out said at a panel when asked, “There are just to little people who play Charr for us to give resources too”
Source? Part of the reason I ask is because I see plenty of charr characters running around Vigil keep :P.
Judging by my experience over the last year, I would say only 1 in 10 players is a Charr, and its almost always a male Charr. Female Charr are extremely rare.
Meanwhile I’m still one-hitting mobs in everything up to lv50 maps while they take about .000001% of my HP with their devestating autoattack skills.
I went afk on my Guardian and a Bear was on me the whole time and it couldn’t even kill me because my passive Virtue regeneration was out-healing it, and I don’t even have that much Toughness equipped (about 2500 defense).
This game is just too difficult.
/Gasp. Your Guardian has good survival. How shocking.
I leveled Guardian after Mesmer. Try doing reverse. You’d be surprised.
I have all classes at 80 and my main is an Elementalist, which has the lowest defensive stats?
There’s a post of some level <50 guy on another thread one-shotting mobs with only single-stat +Power gear because they are so weak now.
PvE is really easy now, so easy that it completely takes the challenge out of it and makes playing with friends a bore because you have to avoid hitting the mobs. I can have a character completely in Dire gear or some other set with zero Power-based offensive capability and still autohit <lv30 mobs to death in seconds.
Its somewhat harder for a levelling player with up-to-date gear, but not by much.
If you’re having trouble with it, you should play another game, because its just the beginning and its about ten times worse in lv80 zones and a hundred times worse in dungeons unless you have a good party…
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
If its a feature of your hardware, and not a macro program, I doubt there’s much protest that can be made because its not “use of third party software”.
But you’d need an official response from a developer to know for sure.

As Solandri has said, most of these prices are set by players, not ANet. Inflation is occuring because it occurs in every econemy. The more gold there is in the game, the higher the prices of everything will be, but the more materials will sell for on the TP, so you actually make far more gold now than you would’ve back then.
I brought in about 5g/day when I started, and now I can farm about 25g/day by doing the exact same things all day long as I did back then.
On top of this, the more gold there is in the econemy, the less people will be spending real money on gems because they can buy them with gold instead. This means that in turn gem prices will go up and up, until people start buying them with real money again and converting to gold, which will then make them go down.
People really need to take a break from all the conspiracy theories…
Title pretty much says it all. This megaserver made guild missions a nightmare and unfun. We couldn’t get our guild into one map, and spent all of our time trying to taxi people into the same instance.
People hate this change, and it is ruining game experiences/communities, and you guys still don’t make a comment. Great PR this is….
It is holidays right now, most of ANet staff are probably not at work.

Sad but true, GW2 is built mostly on exclusive content. Be there or be square.
They haven’t even finished half of Tyria yet, its unlikely they’d go to other continents.
You’ve probably blown through most of what you could’ve enjoyed, to be honest. The whole point of this game is the adventure in levelling up across various zones.
That said, because you’ve rushed it and have now already completed some end-game goals for yourself in a hurry (e.g full Exotics), you’re left with only end-game content to complete. This roughly includes the following:
- Complete Personal Story (This ties into story dungeons)
- Dungeons (Story & Explorable)
- Fractals (although these may require upgrading to ascended gear)
- sPvP
- WvW (Eternal Battlegrounds, not EOTM)
- PvP Activities/minigames such as Crab Toss
- Farming (champ trains, world bosses, harvesting)
- World Completion (for Gift of Exploration, star, and title)
Most of this was stuff that you could’ve already done at lower levels, and which may be too easy now that you’re a fully-geared lv80 Berserker warrior. But YMMV. Out of them, I would say PvP, dungeons and fractals will offer the most challenge, while WvW can also offer a challenge if you stay away from zergs.
Most of the problem with challenges in open world were recently introduced with the megaserver patch and will hopefully be corrected in the coming months.
There will be more to do when Living Story season 2 begins near summer.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
The blueprint and Blade Shards can still be used. The rest can’t, though some people are still holding onto Belongings and Heirlooms in case the merchant returns.
I think the tricolor chest was removed from Kessex Hills, but I would double check. It should be near the Veteran Toxic Wurm Queen spawn point.
You can check Scarlet’s Lair to see if the keys still work, but I think the chests are gone.
Those skins are just cultural weapons skins, nothing unique.
I don’t know why people think ANet is trying to save money after they claim to have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the China release alone.
The servers probably only cost them .01% of that to run.
They should remove the defend events from the Temples already, of course Gates of Arah event included. Simple and effective solution to the Temple problem.
Completely agree with this, those events just need to go away….
Kulvar, please try to keep your arguments coherent. It’s a bit hard to decipher what you actually want to argue.
But, in case I understood you correctly, I’d actually agree to a certain point. The idea, the basic concept of a “Megaserver” isn’t even bad.
It’s just that it’s so horribly implemented. That’s what we’re discussing here. We know the megaserver won’t go away anymore. We just want it to be better than it is currently, because currently, it destroys communitys, playstyles and creates a hostile enviromnent for some people.
Name one thing from ANet that hasn’t also been “horribly implemented”.
Isn’t it kind of a given, by now?
That area is for premium users only. You want the one north of Dwayna’s waypoint, you will see about 50 people standing around it.
You can also find a trading post at Shaemoor market, and access your bank, collectibles and wardrobe (vault) from any crafting station.
Your Personal Story always takes place in instances. You cannot receive the bandit disguise until you start your next story mission. This is because the open world is separate and your Personal Story is historical (in the past).
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
And because ppl like you Nage.1520 who doesent care about game mechanics were getting more updates that are ruining game
I dont care how many ppl ill see on map i want to do my stuff without problems and this update made a lot of problems…
Dead servers with empty maps wasn’t ruining the game? What planet do you live on?
The game had basically been reduced to nothing but high-level farming prior to this. Almost no one did anything outside of farming world bosses, temple events in Orr and run champion trains in Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound.
The only people who did otherwise were dungeon and fractal runners, PvPers, WvWers and role players (on some servers). Of those, most of them were unaffected except PvPers who got some improvements and roleplayers who get screwed.
The biggest problems from megaserver right now are open world difficulty being way too easy due to the lack of proper scaling, and guild missions…
But honestly these problems are smaller than what we had before.
And they can be fixed.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Although these are minor issues currently, i still have to upvote this because I do agree with them and you simply wrote it in a way that was amusing.
Its part of an event chain, you have to do the pre-events. It involves some Order of Whispers operatives fighting Ogres at an area to the south, near a tower.
Superior sigil of bloodlust. Just sayin’.
Why would you use that in anything but end-game gear? The Major sigil does almost as much damage and costs a few silver in comparison.
This topic is about getting better loots, i.e not end-game gear, except for the rare case of going from Exotic to Ascended from an Ascended drop box. And in those cases, if you’re worried about a 12gold sigil for a 50g item, you shouldn’t be.
Besides, the old item can usually be salvaged to get the sigil back.

Its a third party mod and thus is bannable. ANet does not make any distinction into whether a mod is safe to use or not, thus using any mod is risky.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/SweetFX-and-Co/
“This is our only stance on this matter. I’m sorry but we cannot and will not investigate third-party software to declare it safe or unsafe, as this takes away resources from our primary responsibilities. If you choose to use third-party software, you do so at your own risk.”
They have to say this, so they aren’t responsible for idiots downloading SweetFX or something similar from “NotavirusiPromiseXD.ru”.
I think it’s sad though that they cant take a couple dev hours away from making the next hit cash shop armor to vet a couple mods.
I think you misunderstand the content. A developer clarified in one of the other threads; it does not matter what you are using, if it gives some advantage, they will ban it. However, as SweetFX does not give an advantage, they probably won’t. But they reserve the right to do so at their own discretion, and can.
They are telling you that it is always a risk to use it, that it is not “okay”, but that they probably won’t act on it unless they have good reason to.
Its just hidden for now, but still works. They “removed” it because there was a conflict between the name “Ferocity” used in both personality and stats.

The easiest way is to just get 1 single Blade Shard from Aetherblades, and then slowly invest your gold into Watchwork Sprockets, and promote them in the MF.
You buy it, and the crafted items are Account bound.
The problem is, stab simulators are pretty much all that people really want to play these days due to being spoiled by modern games. Most players who are new to the MMORPG scene do not undestand what older MMOs, or game console/tabletop RPGs for that matter, were like in comparison.
All they know is whether its “WoW” or “Not WoW”.
Guild Wars 2 was one of the exceptions, actually, due to having an active roleplaying community and players who sought to play in more traditional ways. The problem is the player base themselves has eroded this away over time; WvW has been turned into leagues in which two sides gang up on one side, and PvE has been overrun by the zerker meta, speedruns and mass prevalence of farming.
Then people get their finally legendaries and ascended armor, and quit.
Some of the mistakes were ANet’s fault, however many of their changes were a direct response to mass critism from players. In fact, you can find many responses to threads around here about people first wanting something and demanding it, then whining about it when they finally get it because it “sucks”.
There’s no way to have it all, but players will not stop until they have it all. This puts both the players and ANet betwen a rock and a hard place.
Most of the things that you listed the “elites” do not want, for example.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
There’s already three other threads about this:
More voices = more chances of being heard. And if A-net is indeed on vacation, having our thread on the first page with 1000+ more voices added to it, will definitely attract attention. Oh, and… The day a company starts ignoring it’s customers and supporters, will be the day it dies.
Actually, due to how forums work, its almost guaranteed that the more pages you keep adding to this thread, the less of them will be read.
A company does not have infinite time and resouces for its employees.
I hope they make the low level maps alot more challenging for high level players. I’ve tried to play with my friends and help them through their personal story, but even if I’m not wearing Berserker gear I still melt all the mobs…
Its not fun to me, at all.
One of the reasons I started playing GW2 was so that I could play with anyone in any zone and still face the same kind of challenge. Instead, now it has become exactly like any other game where I can kill 100 trash mobs with my fist.
So for my level 80s almost 90% of the map is now only good to look at.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
It’s about +50-100ms to your ping, depending on your location. Hardly notable if your ping to the EU servers is already less than 100ms.
So many posts raising conspiracy theories about ANet not caring because they are silent, without realizing that it is holidays and they are on vacation.
You’re just blowing hot air at the wind.
I sympathise with alot of what people say, but when you’re repeatedly told that they are not here and keep going on about how they’re doing it on purpose, everyone is just going to stop listening to you completely, especially ANet.
You can mix Purity with Generosity.
Chefs have several karma-heavy recipes available. There’s also Lost Orrian Boxes in Orr, although I found these have a poor return rate, with only one lodestone per 500k. Also, just investing your karma into Orichalcum harvesting tools (if you don’t have permanent ones) can save alot of money over time.
Not all of those waypoints are contestable, its a bug. Only Plains of Ashford has been seen to show nearly all waypoints as contested so far (besides Orr).
oh thanks alot!!! wow i calculated and its much cheaper to convert T5 into T6 maybe i can do it for about 300gold. only have 340SP
You could do skill challenges on an alt character. Its very fast. The character making the legendary doesn’t have to be the one creating the T6 materials.
Buy the materials using buy orders a little at a time. This way you slowly lose your gold, and if such an update comes around, you won’t have lost all of it.
Also, if you have enough skill points, use MF promotion instead of buying T6.
I just hit lv80 and I’m really confused about what to do now. What’s the quickest way to gear up my character? Should I farm dungeons or pvp?
The quickest way would likely be to do dungeons and buy exotics with the dungeon coins. This also gets you the unique looks of the dungeon armor that are not normally available to other players who have not completed them. Alternatively you can also use the gold that you get from dungeons to buy Exotics off of the TP.
The easiest way is just to run around harvesting things across various maps. If you do this all day it will net you about 20-30 gold per day by selling crafting materials and you need only about 60g to completely gear a character in Exotics (assuming expensive ones like Knight or Berserker, cheaper sets take less time).
Buy the named sets, e.g Zhed’s armor, not Berserker’s Exaulted armor.
There are many other ways too, such as using your karma to buy a few sets from Orr. For example , you can mix Knight armor with Cavalier (Balthazar) trinkets to get a nice combination that has medium damage and medium defense.
