I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.
/i’m a lesbiab… lesbiam… less bien… GIRLS/
This I can actually agree with. Things like this should definitely be instanced.
This is honestly just how RNG works: sometimes you get a lucky streak, sometimes you get a really unlucky one. Magic find, as Hannelore said, is only going to help a little bit when it comes to really rare things like precursors, because 300% is only going to take you from 0.0001% to 0.0004%. That sort of difference isn’t going to make a noticeable change in your ultra-rare drops at all.
Ok I Did It’s friend was just super lucky to get two precursors within such a short time. Was it a one in a billion chance that would happen? Of course it was. But that doesn’t mean it could never happen! Look at it this way: thousands if not millions of drops are getting generated every day. If a precursor has a one in a billion chance of dropping, then you’d expect one to drop somewhere in the world once every couple of days. So one random player is guaranteed to get a precursor drop every few days — there’s just no guarantee who.
If you still believe MF is bugged at higher levels, run an experiment: one person with 300% MF and one person with 130% MF go out and kill the same set of mobs a few thousand (yes, a few thousand, MINIMUM) times, and both write down everything that drops. If the numbers don’t look right, send your findings to ANet in a bug report.
Noticeable streaks are a sign of bad RNG.
There’s evidence that to save on processing power ANet uses precomputed “random-like” tables or a simple feedback algorithm and not a good RNG.
Apothecary is the bog standard bunker build for Rangers in WvW. Ranger has three regeneration sources (Shouts, Troll Urguent, and Signet) and many abilities that cause conditions (Fire trap can have a 6/12 duration/cooldown) although it shoehorns you into using Shortbow, Sword/Dagger or Axe/Torch.
Just add chat channels for multiple languages. Why is it so hard? Enable them all by default in the map chat tab and allow people to uncheck them, or move them to another tab in the same way the current channel system works.
At this rate we are going to see alot of language specific guilds pop up just so people know who to talk to who can also hear them in guild chat.
You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that will be bad for WvW.

In my year of play time I think I’ve only seen only around 50 Exotics drop, none of which was a precursor, and keep in mind that I have done hundreds of bosses, ran the champ trains many times, used the mystic forge, everything…
Since increasing my MF I get alot of rares, which has increased my income substantially due to salvaging them to Globs of Ectoplasm, but that’s it.
Keep in mind a legendary weapon costs around 1 million karma to make.
Its more that it robs players of an experience that cannot happen anymore…
If we’re gonna tell it like it is, then it’s more that it robs you and the OP of your chance to get that trait without paying for it. I mean, let’s not make it about players if it’s about the trait.
I never said anything about any trait, especially since I just purchase them. I actually care about the experience of the game and when it is being harmed.
Just adding the trait to the defend event will not restore it.
Tell me, would you like to see all events in maps completed at all times, and run around for hours with nothing to do because its all done?
Drops are still RNG-based, so it depends on how lucky you are that day. Also, keep in mind that +300% of .000001% is still only .000004%.
Megaservers are not online for higher level zones. The reasons why there are a lot of people running around Cursed Shore nowadays is because people are trying to unlock their new traits.
Actually you’re refering to outdated information. Megaserver is actually live on around 50% of all maps including Orr, as you can find out from recent posts.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Megaserver#Megaserver_system
Cursed Shore isn’t listed here, but the status seems consistent across all servers, so whether it is currently active on megaserver or not is debateable.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
This is better than it was before. I like that the zones aren’t in a constant state of “risen have taken over all the things!” like they were.
Maybe the defend events where people are waiting on them to restart for trait points can be adjusted, but having all of the players on the same map is fantastic.
Its more that it robs players of an experience that cannot happen anymore…
I already wrote my views on this subject in another thread:
Defend events should not exist. They just result in temples being open all of the time. I would much rather see that they remove these events, and make it so that the temple cannot be defended and the risen just overrun it.
Imagine being a new player who is on his way to kill Zhaitan after completing the whole of his personal story over a month’s time. Are you going to kill the Champion Risen Giant, Champion Eye of Zhaitan, and finally the guardian of the gate that your vision from the Pale Tree foretold? Nope, cause defend events.
Might as well just retexture the entire zone now since Orr has been cleansed. The fact that the Pact now holds permanent control over all locations shows it.
Megaserver is fine. Servers are what is broken, and it is time they went away. Maybe you guys haven’t been in the MMO scene long enough to understand what it is like constantly having to pay alot of money to transfer servers just to have someone to talk to in the game. When I started GW2, I chose Jade Quary (a very high population server) so that this would not happen in this game, but even it was barren.
I will not ever miss the server concept, I hope it dies and never comes back.
That said, Megaserver does have some issues that need ironed out. Most of the game was simply not designed for such large numbers, and increasing the amount of zerg content added to the game is not the answer. Hopefully ANet can come up with some worthwhile fixes to the many issues in the coming months.

Lets not forget the fact that the lack of any decent and permanently visible combat log completely ruins any feedback we receive from the game. So not only can we not see past the clutter, we aren’t told in text what is happening either.
I’m still hoping eventually ANet overhauls the log and moves it to another window, at least maybe then I can see BIG BORING BOSS → BIG ONE HIT ATTACK.

Making the game alt-friendly was the best thing they have done since launch. Now if they will just make it friendly to roleplayers again I will be happy.
Its all fun and games till you realise that altoholics like us have been screwed over severely by this new wardrobe. I was very excited about the wardrobe till i realised that each time you upgrade your armor on your alt you have to pay more charges to keep your look but not only that you also pay triple the amount that you used to in the old system. Im sorry but my excitement was turned into total dissapointment. I dont even feel like playing any alts atm. This is greed plain and simple.
No, you build an armor with that look and store it, then you can use it forever. If you stick to fine-quality gear, it will even be account-bound.
The costs are mostly for end-game gear where you really need Exotic stats.
That said the change does hurt levellers quite a bit since transmutation stones were common, however low level players can now use level 80 gear looks with just the rewards that they get from map completion as a compensation.
They can even use the big bad expensive stuff from their high level characters; Living Story reward items, BLC weapons, even legendaries.
I’m not saying its enough, but it is there. Plus the cost is now 25/600 not 25/800.
No you misunderstanding my point. let me explain lvl80 is fine you pick your look and save it no problems there. But at lower level 1-79 as you level you constantly upgrade your armor (not the look)to correspond to your caracter level and this happen very often. Now the thing is say you got a lvl1 caracter you choose your look in the wardrobe pay your charges and lock the look in.
Now you start playing get to say lvl5 now your armor is not good enough anymore and this is where the problem comes in you now upgrade the physical armor but just wanna keep the look you locked in but now you have to fork out more charges which is fine but here is my delema in the old days you used 1 stone a piece now its 1 charge which = 3 stones That means you pay 3x as much now and the rate of gathering these charges havent changed so you cannot keep your look anymore. I dont care bout the actual armor that gets salvaged.
Imo what should happen is you pick your look pay your charges and keep the look even if you upgrade your armor as you level. When you decide your tired of your look then sure pay more charges to change it again not each time you upgrade
I understood your point, but you didn’t understand mine. I have 8 lv80s in this game, and I used Transmutation Stones while levelling them all.
But you’re failing to see the positives here; for example the fact that you’re now getting the equivalent of a Transmutation Crystal (an expensive gem store item) every single time you complete map, or that you can use any look that you have ever discovered in the game including items that cost 100-3000 gold to create.
On top of this, they already lowered the price of the Transmutation Charges.
I’m all for making transmutation cheaper for people who are not level 80 yet. But all these flame threads just keep making it look like ANet didn’t provide anything good in this change while there definitely are many positives. Especially when they have sacrificed some of their income to give better map completion rewards and to sell the associated gem store items from a cheaper price than before.
What you suggest would cause a huge loss of income for them and is unrealistic, because people would always just keep upgrading instead of transmuting and their only income would be from end-game players who decide on final looks. Like it or not, the large majority of income in MMOs is from levelling players, because most players leave the game after reaching max level due to market saturation.

Its because your auto attack is a channeled skill and the game considers back to back channeled skills to be one long string of increasing damage.
Keep in mind that like other races, Asura can still fall in love even if they aren’t even attracted to the person; this is a mystery of love. We are sometimes forced to love someone even if we don’t really “want” to, by our feelings.
Just finding someone attractive isn’t a sign of romantic or reproductive behavior, except for the most apathetic, shallow or detached individuals. And personally I think Asura are one of the least shallow races – especially compared to the drunken Norn who value little more than a good hunt and drink, and their own legend.
Even Charr aren’t much different, with their obsession with battle. They barely even form cohesive family units (warbands), if you can even call them that.
Excepting the Inquest, the Asura seem the most “healthy” race next to Humans.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Bosses are no longer attached to events. They spawn at certain times. There’s nothing special about it in most cases, they just spawn.
The event chains were left around for newbies to do.
I usually run Sigil of Force and Sigil of Accuracy, except on Warrior where I run Sigil of Force and Sigil of Strength to stack with my Runes of Strength. Sometimes Sigil of Fire but usually only in ranged weapons where I need the extra AoE.
I avoid stacking sigils since one mistake resulting in a down = all gone.
Sigil of Battle is a good choice, but certain professions can’t weapon swap that comfortably due to cooldowns on their skills or other reasons. Elementalist and Engineer weapon swap the easiest, and Warrior isn’t bad since they can use alot of different weapons and have some good alternate choices without being stuck on a useless weapon set for the duration of the cooldown (e.g a crowd control weapon set versus a boss).
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Just use gemstones for now (Minor runes aren’t worth it, Major rarely are).
In solo fights or small group fights you need to constantly swap atunements to keep your Fury buff up, which you obtain on atuning. However in PvE and WvW this might not be such a problem due to Warriors using FGJ.
Also, you should swap as often as possible to master skill chaining.
I’ve always used the PvP locker to preview newly released armor. Just like many other players, I mix & match my armor and preview them with other sets.
The problem with the wardrobe system is that we can’t preview armor skins we don’t have with other skins. I don’t want to spend 800 gems or buckets of gold just to preview how it’d look when mixed.
Maybe I’m missing something (and fix me if I am). Maybe not.
I’d really appreciate it if they did something about this.
You can usually get preview codes from the wiki, which can be pasted into chat.

You have to click the slot you want it in with the dialog that pops up. In the future I recommend testing with major sigils on trash weapons instead.
Sorry, but ember farm is terrible. You have no place interrupting other peoples ability to progress through events, no matter how justified you feel.
There’s a cross-map champ-train now if you want to farm, do that instead.
Its ANet’s fault however for making it so that things do not progress properly if the game is played in the correct way, but that doesn’t justify arbitrary dictation.
Instead of blaming on everyone else, ask ANet to fix it.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
The only way is to charge 25 Quartz at a place of power per day. It takes exactly two months to gather enough crystals for armor, jewelry, and a weapon or two.
For exotics, you also need the recipes off the Trading post for each part. These are extremely expensive (~120g for my Elementalist, which was a few months ago). However for Ascended you need only the Inscription and Insignia.
Yes, they are offering refunds. The details are in the patch notes.
May have been an intentional nerf to might stacking.
Runes of Strength got strengthened, and Warriors got an aura that gives Might to allies whenever they also receive Might. You can stack 25 stacks of Might in a party now with just one Warrior + any other class, especially Guardian.
I run Runes of Strength + Sigil of Strength + GS trait to gain Might on crit. Against single mobs I get about 20 stacks of Might and that is also given to allies.
Might stacking is far from nerfed, it is going to be far more potent than ever before.
The Boon duration build I used on my Warrior (Water + Traveller + Major Traveller) is completely ruined, I went from 70% passive to 45%. That’s far too great a loss considering that mixing runes robs me of the 6th bonus.
Luckily my Guardian’s Shout build uses full Traveller’s, so with the tree at 6 she still has a passive Boon duration bonus of 45%, it seems that’s the intention.
I cannot possibly fathom why Celestial does not have Boon duration.
Its because its a lowly populated map. If not for megaserver those players wouldn’t even be there, so you are asking for less players?
I don’t get why you wouldn’t want what you get for free.
Too bad they screwed the roleplayers in every way imagineable. I don’t RP, but wow, they really dropped the ball on this in that department…
I want to praise this update, I do. But I just can’t knowing how much some people had their whole game world turned upside down, especially knowing that some of those people were the biggest buyers of gems in the game.
And on top of that, some of the nicest people in the game.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Do not send this much gold via in-game mail. This is a sign of gold selling.
They said they may be added back in as rewards in the future.
I ran 3 Wup Wup pieces of gear and 3 Berserker pieces of gear pre patch and had much more critical damage due to the higher crit dmg of the wup wup gear on head, chest and pants. Pre patch when hitting for upwards of 8K on a backstab build, and 5K on bow Cluster Bomb, now I hit for a little less than 5K backstab and 3K on bow. In WVW my ferocity is showing 1068 with Crit Dmg at 221% but the numbers are not matching up.
The other thing that is wierd is that ferocity replaced critical damage but runes of divinity which added critical damage have no ferocity now.
They are +all stats, which includes Ferocity…
I also cannot talk in any chat channel.
This would be an awesome feature that many other games already have.
for one of my friends that are color blind for red and green it all blends into brown so brown green and red all look the same and they cannot see aoe circles but they can see blue perfectly fine so i dunno just thought it would be a really good idea to add that option in the game and i know alot of others have it in them
It would be easier for them to set up color correction on their monitors using video card driver settings so that all applications are affected. For example, on NVIDIA cards, you can max out “digital vibrance” for a sort of high contrast mode, combined with adjustments to the individual RGB color channels.
don’t think brighter brown (for us red) is gonna be seen much better on brighter brown (green for us) if this guy cannot distinguish between the 2.
Seems like simple addition to graphics menu, AOE color.
but off course i know nothing about coding
Hence why I suggeseted high contrast and not color changing.
Those high contrast modes on monitors and video cards exist for a reason, because they allow color blind people to distinguish unique elements based upon brightness and saturation, not just hue. Just changing colors won’t work for everyone, because there will always be something in the game that is the same color (green circle on grass?) and you likely won’t be able to see it anyway.
Contrast does not increase brightness, it increases or decreases the distance between individual colors on the gamut, making them more “different”.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Transmutation will not use items as skins anymore. When you obtain an item, the skin is automatically added to your wardrobe. The skin is completely independant of any gear you use it on, and no item has to be wasted when transmuting.
For example, right now it is:
Generic Greatsword + Cool Greatsword = Cool Greatsword
But now it will be:
Generic Greatsword = Cool Greatsword
This works the same as the current achievement reward skins.
ArenaNet doesn’t owe you anything, Please stop making these threads.

It is most likely one of the hidden jumping puzzles. These do not have any map objectives in them, nor any markers, so they will not appear in any way, shape, or form unless you have physically been to them.
I recommend doing all of the Jumping puzzle achievments (except the WvW and Not So Secret), and Dive master, except for the final dive in Not So Secret. This will likely indirectly get you all of the hidden areas for world exploration.
Its kind of true that Warriors can’t contribute much to fractals besides DPS.
However I found a Regeneration banner Warrior borderline overpowered in fractals. An Engineer, Guardian or Mesmer can in theory keep the same Regeneration uptime, however it doesn’t work out in reality because of combat and self-survival, where as the Warrior banners are completely immune to attack.
Try it some time when you are bored, you’ll be amazed at how much everything changes with 24/7 regen boon on your entire party. Any mistake that doesn’t result in a one-hit kill has a greater chance of recovery.
(Plus, that same tree also offers the +250 power aura and boon duration for FGJ.)

PvP just got the Edge of the mist.
If anything they will do new PvE contend.
My 2 centsWvW =/= PvP
You’re talking about Structured PvP (sPvP), don’t confuse it with “PvP” which just means Player Vs Player as that is exactly what World Vs World is (PvE + PvP).
In this next update they are completely overhauling all PvP gear by merging it with PvE/WvW gear and allowing you to make gold from killing people, which will then directly translate into rewards from other areas of the game.
If you mean new game modes or new maps, unlikely. They have their hands full with the China release and the upcoming Living Story season 2.
The OP (which is now deleted) specifically mentioned sPvP.
Well I still see “PvP” not “sPvP” in the thread title. With the original post gone, that is all that we can go by and pretty much just make assumptions.
That theory crafting doesn’t take into account how hard it is for other classes to have high damage setups, such as the Elementalist (highest DPS) which is a two-hit-kill even from a random trash mob while wearing full Berserker gear.
Warriors have the highest effective DPS because they don’t really have to do anything for it since their high base stats and high HP regeneration means they can just dump everything into damage without a care, that is the difference.
Most effective =/= the best. Effective DPS takes into account downs and recoveries, and time spent casting other skills that don’t directly damage.
PvP just got the Edge of the mist.

All existing restrictions will likely remain unless otherwise noted.
There is not a restriction of wearing armor according to your order, just on buying it. Cultural armor is different because it has “Requires Race” and persists even after being transmuted onto another item and made account bound.
This thread again, these threads have gone from weekly to daily.
No, it won’t make the slightest bit of difference. Warriors still have the highest base stats, most % boosts to damage and still gain Might on every GS crit.
Everyone but necro (engi?) is already on par or better than warriors. Pugs are stupid and there’s nothing anet can do about it.
/apugslife
Actually due to the health pool and wells I would say that my full zerk power necro is alot closer to Warrior’s status than my other classes…
Engineer probably the furthest.
(edited by Hannelore.8153)
Let me tell you what all these threads always come to
Basically 1 camp want to have a DPS for legitimate theory crafting purposes, and I don’t think anyone disagrees with them, or whether or not they should be able to do so.
But 2 camps are pretty much at war with each other, the ones who follow and expect pugs to be in the most efficient (best) gear for PvE (Zerker), and those who want to play in whatever gear they want.
But the argument always boils down to: Do I have the right as the creator of the party to enforce a dps/gear check on randoms/pugs that join.
As in, if a make a party “LFM zerker gear 6k DPS only” and someone joins and does 4k dps you kick them for underperforming.
and why are people mad that these topics come up? The whole point of the forums is to have discussion on things, especially controversial things. If you just instantly delete threads like these and suppress any kind of outside thinking then you have an echochamber not a forum.
The other threads were deleted because they spoke about using an illegal third-party program to monitor the DPS and devoled into TOS arguments.
This thread will likely be fine if people stay on-topic and avoid insults.
On-topic: I am fully in support of combat logs, but not meters. A log showing attacks from your entire group (without damage) is just fine to me. This would help others to see how much they get carried in a fight, and I think this would be very beneficial to the game because the “elites” would see how much they get carried.
Yes, it may turn back into “You didn’t heal me!!!” like in other games instead of “You’re not doing enough damage so I died!!”, but its better than nothing.
