Who is giving a kitten kitten about the manifesto still? Collin stated about half a year ago that the manifesto was a big mistake, as they were talking about ideas that turned out to be not realisable. Yet, the community nailed them down on each single word they stated back than.

Is there ANY mmorpg out there that really releases raiding/dungeon endgame on a regular basis (that is let’s say every two months)? I say no. Wildstar promissed but is dead now. Elder scrolls online promissed, went b2p recently. Even WoW doesn’t…had a short fallback a year ago…after siege of ogrimmar until the addon passed a year without new content.

It’s actually quite easy to make a game with no grind and only content. The thing is, you won’t be able to play it for a loooong time. All of the individual titles in those franchises I played like 100 to 400 hours each. Guild Wars 2 I played 2,500 hours.

And that’s what MMO devs want, to keep you playing. So yea, it is possible, they just won’t do it.

Note, those are all single player games…name an MMO that has no “grind” and I’ll agree you have a point. Otherwise it’s like talking apples and oranges.

P.S. – I put “grind” in quotes because one persons “grind” is another persons “fun”.

it’s all cosmetic and gear is easily maxed out, unlike GW2 where you get spit on the moment you wear rare armor instead of exotic.
GW has white armor as maxed gear, if that was the case in GW2 then you can talk about no grind in GW2, till then grind away.

Have you ever played GW1?! Man, grinding those achievements there for the HoM titles was a pure nightmare (sweet tooth, party animal, etc etc).

you chose to make it a grind for yourself if you decide to actively go for the required mats instead of bunkering them while regularly playing the stuff you want and wait until you can efford it. There’s no content in GW2 that’s not entirelly doable without ascended gear

they can’t bring it back as it was. It had a totally different game structure than season 2. Season 1 was very often based on mass event in the open world…very few things were actually instanced. Just think about the Marionette fight that required almost an entire map (comparable to the Vinewrath fight currently in Silverwastes) or the Battle for LA, where you had to kill 3 legendary bosses at the same time to get to Scarlet. Killing her hologram also required almost a full map etc.

I think it won’t be possible to bring back season 1 as it was.

Don’t forget the z-axis we have in that game. Dry Top and Silverwastes appear small on the world map, but with all those areas on top and below and each between, this would be a kittenload larger if they’d spread it just into a flat area. And in the video it appeared to be even more an explitation of the z-axis

First (or 2nd I forget live event) the Karka invasion anyway. The plan all GW2 players log in at the same time (!!!) to fight the evil Karka. Guess what happens? Yep everyone disconnects/massive lag, utter disaster really…lots of goodwill lost.

Don’t tell lies plz. For me and many, many, many others this was by far the most epic and interesting event I have ever seen in any MMO I’ve ever played. This really felt like “whoa, this is live…we’re experiencing an epic event all together that won’t return!”

You don’t need expensive buff foods for dungeons, you don’t have any repair costs,…anything you do in that game gives you gold. For me, that system is fine as it is.

Hi all,

anyone else experiencing game crashes (“Want to send error report go Anet?”) lately at Tequatl or the Great Jungle Wurm? Within the last week, I had 4 crashes that happend else maybe once a year anywhere in the game. But now it seems to be quite frequent to me at Teq/Wurm.

Is this a known issue? It woulnd’t bother me too much if it would happen somewhere else, but I just waited 40 minutes before the Wurm started and only 2 minutes after the event started, I crashed.

My PC spec is fine, got a pretty strong PC in October and had no issues so far.

Collin made (half a year ago?) some statements, that they made some mistakes in the past regarding communicating with the community. Cuz guys like you nailed the devs down for every single word they said, they have changed their communication strategy towards “no information at all, unless it’s done”. So no more “road ahead” or “GW2 manifesto” posts at all – that was the result of the unreasonable community responses.

So it’s done when it’s done – get over it.

Many people run their daily dungeons for tokens or other collection items, mostly without getting the desired item. Also when I’m helping out guildies, most of the time I don’t get any real reward (except for greens and blues). Still, I run AC very, very often. Same with Tequatl (only 1 hoard in 100 attempts) or Wurm (no hoard at all).

So my suggestion: why not implement a notoriety/reputation system, that rewards you for participating many, many times in a specific setting? I wouldn’t call this grinding, as I would do AC or Teq anyway, but this way you could also reward ppl that are regularly “playing the game as intended”. Rewards may be staggered (but achieveble), e.g. 1000 rep, 5000 rep, 10000 rep, 50000 rep, 200000 rep. Also the reward for each stage increases accordingly up to unique rewards at max. reputation.

So why not implement reputation for factions like “Dragonslayer brotherhood” (for slaying any dragon), “Durmand Priory” (for slaying enemies in crypts), etc etc

pros:
- no (additional) grind, as we do dungeons, world bosses, pve,…anyway. This would just be an additional reward for regularly participating in PvE content
- possibility to implement unique rewards/titles
- possibility to extend lore (e.g. getting neutral with Modniir as humans under certain circumstances)

cons:
- probably a very big change that is not easy to implement at all that requires a lot of planing and building around the current content

(PS: I have never played WoW, but I did like the factions in GW1 already, although it worked out differently there)

Just came back for the new LS after having started with RIFT 1 month ago…the question I’m asking myself after finishing the current episode: why the kittening kitten have I even started with Rift? Rift has litterly nothing that comes even close to what was offered here in terms of quality content. The artwork is a masterpiece…just wow wow wow! And that library…by Ogden’s hammer…that kittening amazing library!

Firstly, a legendary has a non-cosmetic use in the fact you can change its stats at will when out of combat; something that no other category of weapon in the game does. So it isn’t solely a neat skin.

“Hey, I switch to other stats after those mobs!” said noone ever.

You can roll almost through everything with green equipment…and if everyone runs ascended gear, it does not matter at all if I change my weapon from assassins to berserker to dolyak stats.
