I was under the impression that paths do not reset their daily rewards until the daily reset at 6:00 P.M. central time. Since daily dungeon rewards are account bound, IIRC, then you would have to wait for the reset. I’m not entirely sure on any of this though since I only have one level 80.
Farming the first chest in TA Explore is what some people do. You might be able to find a group for this on gw2lfg.com
You might get better responses from the Mac forums and a better idea how the game will run.
What is with arena nets lack of bug fixes.. I keep seeing patches and updates but nothing ever gets fixed.. what are these patches for?
I’v found places where you can walk through the ground/walls, found abilities that do not work as intended, monsters and other npcs that get stuck in walls/trees etc… I’v opened what feels like a thousand tickets in the month I have been playing and I’m getting a little fed up that despite this game being mobbed with bugs that nothing seems to be getting fixed
I think this game would be enjoyable if I could see it, but it’s so marred by bugs I don’t even want to play it anymore.
“Maintenance” is what the patches are for, whatever that means…
Something is eating a lot of RAM, the peak working set of memory only ever reaches approximately 1.4GB. I would double check RAM usage prior to opening GW2 and see what is hogging it all.
Perhaps its the crash that soaks up all the RAM. If the amount of RAM use is normal before launching GW2, then maybe you have a bad stick of RAM? I’m not really sure what else to check at this point besides the hardware.
if i were their supervisor, i would fire them all. No hard feelings is just my way of thinking, in work you should be serious and actually work the whole time…ofc getting good money and having a good working environment is a must…but no serious company would do this kind of stuff in my eyes.
glad..at least, you had your fun.
Agreed! If I jumped about like that in the Papermill I work in, I’d either end up sacked or inside a paper mulcher!
It clear that some have way to many breaks or free time, I do hope their bosses see these vids and start handing out the real fun!Smaller companies with a much different culture have begun in recent years to treat their employees more like humans and less like cogs in a machine.
In fact… in many newer/startup companies… and smaller companies… freedoms such as this are benefits that are advertised BY the company to attract talent.
At the papermill you are an entirely replaceable set of hands… at a creative or research based company its the employees market not the employers market.
Personally… if you work for a living, why do you kill yourself working? If you have the chance to work at a company that treats you like a live human, take it… many people are.
Exactly, people should come to work not for the money (not solely for the money at least), but knowing that they come to work to have fun with the people they work with.

May you post your system specifications please? Have you tried using the -repair option to make sure the gw2.dat file is intact?

googling takes ages….
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=awesomiumprocess.exe
that took less then 10 seconds….including typing out the lmgtfy url….
lmgtfy never ever gets old.
Have you tried repairing the gw2.dat file? What are your system specifications? Can you link the crash log so that we can have more information. Right now no one has any idea how to fix it without information.
The email authentication has worked for me since day 1 except when it was down for a few hours, thus not allowing me to log in at my parent’s house. Other than that, its a decent system.
Sounds like a bug to me. Your answer may lie in the Bugs forum. I’d also report the bug so that it will eventually get fixed.
They added them to areas with contested waypoints. These new waypoints can not be contested, thus giving us a point of entry into the map. You should be able to find the missing one by hovering over the name of the map, like “Cursed Shore” when the map is open. This shows a tooltip that shows the percentage completed of the map and what is completed.
It does not give more gold.
See this wiki page for more details:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic_findMagic find only makes the change for uncommon drops higher.
Gold is not uncommon drop but a common one. So it won’t change. However the magic find will help you make more money and yes they do stack. So in your case you have +75% more magic find. So if you had a change of 1% to get a rare drop from a kill it is now 1.75% change.
This thread is not about magic find, its about gold find. It’s something totally different. Please reread the thread topic.
That stuff stacks, just like magic find, but comes with the benefit of actually seeing the increase.
Don’t forget the gold find booster for another 20%. Just over double the money from drops, yum.
The amulet will retain the identity of being a utility slotted amulet even after you upgrade it with any versatile or utility infusion.
What OS are you using ?
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, check the attachments.
I can’t say for certain, but its not just the developers to blame here. There might be management issues where they decided to cut corners by using stuff they already had in-house instead of biting the bullet and starting over.
Define new, I would make sure the temperatures for your CPU and GPU aren’t going to boil water. Your computer could be shutting down due to extreme heat. I normally dust out my computers after a half a year to make sure they don’t get too nasty, but I know some people that do it on a quarterly basis because of how dusty their places are compared to my own.
It looks like it crashes because it can’t find a texture that it tries to render. This is judging from the huge amount of page faults and the log saying that it can’t find a texture.
It also seems odd that you are using over 9GB of RAM to play GW2/other programs. If I were you, I would try to close everything besides GW2 after a reboot. Then see how stable it is.
only thing thats running when guildwars is up is the game my virus protector and my graphics card manager. 10-20% CPU usage when guildwars is running
10-20% CPU utilization while the game is running is very low. I would be concerned that something is wrong with your hardware. I would go into your BIOS and turn off all energy saving features.

It was a known error by ArenaNet. They tweeted about it a few minutes ago. I couldn’t login to the forums and had to sit here watching people respond while I couldn’t give the proper information, so frustrating.
none of my processes are running above 20,000 kb except guildwars.
That’s just how much memory they’re using. We’re looking at percent usage. In task manager it shouldn’t reach reach higher than 75% because of your CPU. Are you running anything else that takes up a sizable amount of CPU usage?
From your description of your problem it sounds like your CPU is holding you back. Though 5-15 is kinda low for a second generation i5, even if its a laptop version. My i5 M520 @2.4Ghz does better than this. I would make sure no other heavy processes are hogging time on your CPU. GW2 will likely use up most of your CPU, so I would check CPU usage and make sure nothing else is running while playing GW2. If any of GW2’s big three threads gets stalled for a second by another process, it holds up the other two threads, thus decreasing your FPS.
Its the convenience you get instead of individually making each armor piece in a set. In other words, they aren’t worth it at the current price of mystic coins.
If you’re on FA:

Slow down there buddy. Those are some pretty old graphics cards and I’d have to gander that they won’t be able to pull medium settings. What resolution do you intend to run GW2 at?
I would recommend a GTX 650Ti as a minimum for GW2. This will net you slightly above medium settings. Alternatively you could get an AMD 7770 and should be able to pull the same settings.
I would recommend at least a 550W power supply, but you may be able to slide by on a 450W.
Reboot your computer, don’t open GW2. Locate the local.dat file and delete it. If the file is still in use, GW2 or another program is using it at computer start up. Let me know how it goes.

I have not read through all the posts, but auto run and w run interrupt pickups. Basically, I find that I am not able to pick up items when using auto run and/or w movement. I find that I am forced to stop for a moment of time to pick up an item before moving again. Is this meant to be an aspect of game play, or is this a bug?
This is a bug, the name my friends and I gave it is ‘the run bug’. This is very unrelated to the topic of the OP though.

try using msi afterburner to run your gpu fan at 100% when gaming, see if that helps, if not downclock the card and test, I have seen alot of 600 series cards(and even 500 series) that where clocked to high to be stable with their pcb design.
I have also seen alot of cards from amd and nVidia that overheat causing driver rests(what i think is going on with your system) due to the fan profile being for silence rather then keeping the whole card cool……the vrm’s overheat more then the cores on current cards….
also, you should clock that cpu to at least 4.5ghz to get gw2 to stay abouve 30fps.
Its the non-K version of the CPU, so I’m not sure if he could get that high very easily.
I’ve bought 2 Ranger Laurel boxes & it won’t let me use either, says the content is disabled. Anyone know any info on this problem?
Currently there is a bug with the Ranger boxes. Normally the boxes only allow you to get items usable by the Ranger profession. In the case of the Ranger, it has been reported that you can get items that are unusable by you. In response to this, ArenaNet disabled the ability to open the boxes until a fix is worked out. The next major patch is next week Tuesday the 26th. If I were you, I’d try opening them after that patch.
OK, I’ll try the drivers, thanks. However, is there a crash log I can post that could help diagnose the issue? The only file I can see in documents/guildwars2 is a local.dat file with a timestamp of today. Cheers.
I believe the crash log is located where the gw2.dat file is. Usually
C:\Program Files\GuildWars\
The local.dat file is just a file that contains all your settings for the game. Such things like audio and graphic settings.
I got myself a Howl. I gambled by doing CM and it popped out of a chest.
I’m going to guess that the tapped author either had issues that have prevented it’s completion, or completed it, only to have it rejected and had to do a major re-write. If it was determined that it was time to find another author to pen the book, that would definitely push back it’s release.
I guess they could also have decided to make it tie in with the first paid expansion, especially if the book contains major spoilers on said expansion. That theory isn’t exclusive from the others, since clearly the book was originally intended to come out around the time the game released and the nature of the book itself would probably have had to have changed in order for it to have raised spoiler concerns.
The books were designed to bridge the gap lore-wise between GW1 and GW2. As for the author, she’s an ArenaNet employee who I’m sure is crazy busy with other things and the book was put on the back burner.
Not all infusions give the +5AR. The only ones that don’t give +5AR are the magic find, gold find, karma, and exp infusions.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infusion
The reason people get the Versatile Simple Infusion is because its extremely easy to get in comparison to the other infusions that give stats and AR.
Thank you for your answer, did all of it besides the repair option but unfortunately it didnt change a thing + on top of that I can’t run the repair option … When I add the -repair at the end it tells me that the path “…/gw2.exe-repair” is invalid.
You need a space between .exe and -reapir.
“…/gw2.exe -repair”

Same here WTH? Heres the full text::
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. for additional support, please visit our support page
ArenaNet knows about it, they have responded to a similar thread earlier today.
Sigil’s don’t show their stats they give in the hero panel; they do work though. As far as stacking sigils with flat bonuses like that, I’m not sure if you’ll get both bonuses.

It really depends where you buy the processors. If you’re in luck like me and have a Microcenter close by, then the i5 3570K and the 8350 are the same price. Then, the 3770K is only 40 bucks more.
at the same time GPU is at 55°C
what i see is that CPU and GPU never work at 100% but always at 80-90% for CPU and 60-70% for GPU…
The temperatures are normal for both GPU and CPU.
What you are seeing is that your CPU is the bottleneck of your system. That is, your CPU is not fast enough to feed enough commands to your GPU to process. Since GW2 uses 3 heavy threads and a bunch of small ones, its doubtful you’ll see 100 percent utilization when just running GW2. Those percentages are about right since theoretically GW2 will use approximately 75% of your CPU while the other core is left to do other programs you have running, like steam or vent/ts3 etc etc.
If you had the 2500*K* then you could overclock the processor to get it to match your 570.
(edited by Ilithis Mithilander.3265)
As far as I know, there is no maximum percent for critical hit damage. Obviously the percent to critical hit caps at 100% since anything beyond that is pointless.
Nah, under load that temperature is normal for a CPU.
Sure, you can play on max settings, but I’m not sure what frame rate you would like to achieve while doing this.
Do you participate in chaotic 100+ man WvW battles? If so, you need to overclock your CPU to about 4.5Ghz.

Hi there,
Since I am quite sick of getting 10~15fps in WvW and about 30fps in PVE, I am willing to change my current PC to Intel.
Let me start of on what I am looking to buy:
MB: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770K
Ram: Corsair 16 GB DDR3-1600 Quad-Kit, Vengeance LP, XMPAnd maybe: XFX HD7970 Double Dissipation GHz Ed. (FX-797G-TDFC)
And this is my current system:
MB: MSI 890FXA-GD65 890FX
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3300 AM3
GPU: XFX 2GB D5 X HD6950
Ram: Corsair D3 8GB 1333-999 XMSWin7
PSU: XFX PRO650W Core Edition
Boot disk: Corsair SSD 64GB 130/215 Nova
Storage: Western Digital 1TB WD1002FAEX Black
Gaming: Corsair SSD 180GB 515/550 Force3 25nm SA3Il be using the current psu and ssd/hdd’s in the new system.
The moral problem I am having is that my current system is only 1,5years old. And I want to make sure that my new setup will give me a decent performance boost in WvW to justify its cost.
I am pretty sure that changing cpu/mb will do just that, if I am wrong, please do tell me before i buy. :P
What i am having doubts about tho is the GPU. Currently it really doesn’t matter if i run with high or low gw2 settings, the fps is the same (bf3 runs good on max settings in current pc)
So my question is: Would my current GPU be powerful enough in the new pc to run gw2 max settings? Also, if you see anything wrong, have tips on better parts in the same price range, please do tell.
I am asking this here since I am not really uptodate about the latest and greatest, and what works best for gw2, I think some/allot of you are, or at least more informed then me.
Never hurts to ask right? :-)Wait for NVIDIA titan(aka 7XX series). You can thank me later.
i7 is a must. Extreme if $$ is there.
Firstly, the Titan is not part of the 600 series or the 700 series, it’s off on its own. Its much more horsepower than GW2 requires since its more powerful than a GTX 680.
As awesome as the i7 is, with current gaming, a normal quad-core is fine which is what current i5’s are. However, if you can actually use more than a quad-core then the i7 is worth it, but most games don’t take advantage of this yet. You’ll see a benefit when you’re audio/video encoding when using an i7 versus an i5 but other than that not much.

I am running an i7 920 CPU and a Radeon HD 6750 GPU. Most of the time, even in a packed Lions Arch, I get a comfortable 55-60 FPS. Mysteriously, around Anchorage Waypoint in Cursed Shore, my frames drop to an uncomfortable 15 FPS for seemingly no reason at all. (Even when there are no nearby events.) I know the area is straining my GPU because the GPU fan kicks up to full speed while i am in the area.
I have the same problem when fighting the Bloomhunger in the swamp fractal. Turn down those reflections and you should notice a huge increase in performance. Currently there is a bug where your GPU will render all reflections, even the ones you can’t see under the ground, around the hill, and over the mountain.
As long as you have the right drivers, both AMD and Nvidia cards function properly in GW2. Just make sure you get a card that can play GW2 at the settings/frames you desire.
I hate to say it, but its your CPU that is holding you back. A dual core Celeron processor does not spell good things when playing GW2.
TBH you can try overclocking more, but I doubt you’ll get enough out of your processor to notice any game changing differences.
The only way to get a more playable experience is to build a new system. Even upgrading to a top end processor for your socket, it won’t be worth the money you’d spend on the processor for the performance gained.

4×4 GSkill Sniper (stock 1866/CL9 1.5v), it seemed smoother. Unstable RAM is probably the quickest way to nuke something in your Windows install so I didn’t try to make anything comprehensive.
What I do know, though, is when one of the sticks wasn’t in all the way (showing 12GB), FPS tanked pretty hard.
I can kind of confirm this. I used to have a bad stick of RAM but it would only show its bad nature after a while of playing GW2 or using other applications that eat RAM. When I had this bad stick, everything seemed a little off and slower. I used to literally chug in LA when moving my camera around in a 360 degree arc when I first loaded in. This could also be because my CPU was running stock speed at the time as well. Then, after a while I would get a BSOD because my RAM failed me. I run sticks at 1600MHz CL9 Since I have replaced that stick and overclocked my CPU, the game runs much smoother than it did prior.
Thanks for the advice but what is the local.dat? I’m a bit wary about deleting random files.
It’s not random :p The local.dat file is located in your ‘my document’s’ in a folder named Guild Wars 2. It holds all of your current settings and resets everything back to default (settings-wise). Sometimes this file gets bloated or corrupted and just needs to be refreshed by deleting it and when you launch the GW2 launcher, it recreates the file.
How big is GW2 right now? I am on 5% and 1gb downloaded. If my math is correct that is 20gb 100%
Fun fact, the percentage goes off of files downloaded, not how much you have downloaded. The client still sits at a steady 15ish GB for me. It may be that you are downloading larger files first which is why your percentage is lower than expected for the amount you have downloaded thus far.
People with slow internet connections, I recommend backing up the gw2.dat file in case it gets corrupted.
Another fun fact, GW1’s downloading system did not replace anything inside the gw.dat file whereas the download system for GW2 does replace parts of the GW2.dat file.
For instance in GW1, you download the client before Christmas and its 3.5GB. You download the Christmas patch and it increases the gw.dat’s file size to 4.0GB. You decide to reinstall/redownload the entire game after the Christmas event, you will download 3.5GB again.
GW2’s system doesn’t seem to follow this pattern, so for those who used to clean install GW after so many months because of extra space not needed from past events, there is no need to worry about this anymore.
