Well, I hope so…the deleted character’s name should be reserved in and for your account only for 24 hours, and hopefully the Name Change Contract will be able to distinguish that. If not, you would have to wait until it becomes ‘available’ at the 24-hour mark, and then use the Name Change.

Good, as in skilled? Good, as in fun to play with? Good, as in efficient in making gold? I guess you can only ask them (or others around), and either believe what they say, or play with them and make your own decision. Nothing in the game really tells much about another person, except for a few titles….but, even those can be obtained in various ways.
Just my opinion, of course…I am sure there will be plenty of others. Welcome to Tyria!

Just wanted some feedback from the community.
So, I know I’ve had some other trouble with ANet before with some names, and I was ignorant about the naming policy at the time. Honestly, I just like to have a funny name and do it for the lolz. Making my friends and guildies laugh is what I enjoy the most.
Anyway, after reading a bunch of posts about people getting suspended for their names, from copyright infringements (which shouldn’t be an issue in the first place), to mild references, to obscenities (which make sense to sensor), it seems there is a lot of political correctness going on. I can’t help but think that ANet should spend time fixing bugs and other issues than concentrating on people’s names.
Anyway, I don’t want to cause ANet anymore trouble, since that’s not my intention, but I can’t move on with a better name until I have people vet my old name, and make me understand how it actually is offensive.

So, by V Card, I know what it usually means, but in my guild, I had a back story about stealing a valentines day card, which was why I thought it would be a funny double entrondre character name to have. I think it’s in the gray area, and doesn’t necessarily meet reasons for offense.. Also, it was a thief… so stealer went perfectly with it.

I think the bolded part of your statement answers all questions.
Although it may not be the optimal solution, there is little difference between guesting and home server (other than WvW). You do not have to delete your character(s) to transfer; you can purchase gems (either with cash or in-game gold) and transfer all characters when the opportunity arises. =)
Alright, I have a real problem I need help with, now.
I was playing with the menu a bit trying to make sure it the server lists were changing (Since they did not seem to) and accidentally used my one 7 day move.
I thought the 7 day move only applied to paid transfers with characters, not ones without.
As I am more or less only trying to play with my friend, on their server, I would appreciate it if someone would let me have another swap, as I really do not want to wait 7 days to try and get onto his server.
Unfortunately, there is a 7-day cooldown on any and all server transfers. But you can guest to any server within your region, and play with friends. =) You can not, however, partake in WvW whilst guesting. Welcome to Tyria, and happy adventuring!
I think, maybe, the idea was…the higher the risk (higher level zone), the higher the reward (higher level mats). Maybe it hasn’t worked out exactly perfectly, but placing all level materials in all zones would probably just entice people to stay in the starter zones as 80s and abandon even more zones than are abandoned now.
I have seen rangers that have perfectly acceptable names on their toon and most of their pets but then bam they pull out Mr. (insert offencive name here)
how do I go about reporting this since I cannot report on the pet directly? Do I just report name and hope that CS searches through all the pets too? or what?
I have yet to hear a case where someone was actioned because of a pet name. Probably the best way to report would be to take a screenshot of the offensive name and send that to Customer Support.
To preface this, I do not want a combative thread where people complain about this or that, I just want a simple question answered.
I played GW1 for a while, and I’ve played GW2 since launch. I haven’t played any other MMO (unless you count that one night of Man vs. Machine). I always see people saying that they want the endgame to include raids. What is implied by “raid”? Is it just the much larger group, or is there something deeper I haven’t gathered yet?
Thought the game was fun been playing it went to work came home account has been terminated…. I need to get back on so i can play with my friend who just bought the game can someone help me?

Hey, I bought this game yesterday, and I played it a lot yesterday…today however, when I try to log in it says something like….
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network.”
I’ve checked all of those and it should be working, and sometimes it will let me log in for a few minutes and play the game, but doesn’t let me anymore after about two minutes….the game seems really fun, please help me!!!!
Yes, Reddit is very difficult to read, and follow…in my opinion. Sans the opening post, of course. I like the forum lay-out much better. Though, there is the drawback of only those possessing a game account being able to participate, which may be why it would not be held here. =(
I think this is a good idea. A better chance at the higher-rarity items would be a great incentive for people to do some of the less-visited content in the game. Hopefully, the devs will see this once it’s moved to Suggestions. =)
They won’t respond to this, they must think it is below them or something cause there has been multiple posts about the farming nerfs and they haven’t responded to any of them. Really ignorant imho since they know what they are doing, chasing players away just for profits.
I was responding to this, which states that nerfing farming spots chases away players for profit. Doesn’t make sense to me, but I’m not a game developer, or economist.
Here’s the situation: I’ve been getting weird messages supposedly from ArenaNet with the content in [LINK REDACTED] I thought it could be some kind of phishing attempt, since after the first time I followed the mail’s link and input my information, I couldn’t log into the game with it.
But the thing is, I’ve been getting them from time to time and today, I decided to use an online link scanner and it gave me [LINK REDACTED] these results. I’m now in a situation in which I don’t understand what I should do in fear it’s a really elaborate phishing scheme, because the message doesn’t quite elaborate on the problem.
If you have entered your information on other scam sites, as stated above, you need to change your passwords for the game account and the email address associated with your game account.
It wont let me login using the launcher. “the account name or password you entered is invalid. Please check your information and try again.”
Are you using your password and email address associated with your game account to try to log in? Sometimes people try to use their display name, and that causes an error.
If you continue to have difficulties logging in, you can contact Customer Support and they will assist you.
What’s up with the “You can not guest an American server” for European players (or the other way around) I don’t get it, why?! And seriously a fee for changing ur server? I understand that you want your “unbalanced” WvW to be balance, only allow transfers every 7 days but take the bloody fee away.

There are two databases: European player data is stored in our European datacenter, American player data is stored in our American datacenter. This is to ensure that people in these regions can still properly play in case there is an issue with the connection between the datacenters.
When you do a world transfer from the US to the EU (and vice versa) your player data is transferred from one datacenter to the other. This is not the case with guesting, as you are still “registered” on your home world.
I understand that some of you are disappointed that you cannot guest on worlds in another region, but considering the complexity of internet routing, our main priority is to ensure that players have as much of an uninterrupted game experience as possible, which is the reason why we have two datacenters.’
i recently had my account banned for 72 hours due to an unacceptable name. when my account was unbanned i changed the name of a character that was flagged as inappropriate, but my account got banned again for the same issue. im not sure what char it is until i get the ban removed. i wish when my account was banned the first time that i would have gotten an email notifying me of what char’s name was inappropriate and if there was another char with an inappropriate name it too could have been resolved. is there anybody who has had this happen before and how do i fix this so it never happens again. i am perfectly fine with changing my chars names if i know which ones they are and why it was banned.

Well, as your display name is inappropriate, you might take a hard look at all your character names. You can always contact Customer Support and ask them if any and/or all names are inappropriate and ask to be allowed to change them. Good luck. =)
I find this happening more and more often. I enter a thread, find grey-out buttons. Check my history, none of the posts are listed in my ‘posts liked by…’. If I click on the grey button to turn it back to red, the post is then entered into my history of ‘posts liked by…’.
So, I have to go back and turn it grey again, to remove that post.
I have found, however, that refreshing the page often gets rid of this anomaly of having posts liked by me before I’ve even read them.
Hello Everybody. I been having a hard time figuring how to change my guild name. I Wrote 4 Support tickets to have my guild name change and no Answers. If theres is a way for a MOD to help me do this it would be fantastic. I know there is a way to change a guild name b/c it’s a common idea. It would be Great to settle this problem Quickly.

The only way known to change a Guild name, at this time, is to start a new Guild. Start everything from scratch. Also, writing multiple tickets for one subject slows the process down, so that’s frowned upon.

No, it was not within 24 hours. Actually, it has been about 2-3 weeks between when I last used the name and then tried to use it again.
As stated, names are only reserved for 24 hours. If it’s been two or three weeks, the name was probably used by someone else in that time. Sorry about that. =)

Are you using the email address associated with your game account to log in? Some people mistakenly try to use their display name (xxxxxxx.1432) and this causes an error.

Yes, unfortunately, headwear tends to remove hair, even facial hair, it seems. I’ve never come across that because I have no Male characters. Hopefully, some day they will fix that. If you are the only one that has happened to, I am sure you could submit a report to CS, so they can be aware of your problem. Good luck. =)
I am curious about one of my character names. It is a name that I use in Guild Wars and I have used it in Guild Wars 2. I remade the character a few times and the last time I tried to remake the character, the name was in use. How is that possible?

For me, attaining a Legendary is a long-term goal. And I mean long-term. My style of play is to enjoy the game (probably frivolously to you), and slowly gather items I may need in the future. I don’t farm or run dungeons, it just isn’t my thing. I don’t feel forced to buy gems or grind anything. Again, for me, it’s a game, and I just enjoy it. So, the model works for me. I really like Living Story, always something new to do, if I feel so inclined, so the way the game works suits me. I may be in the minority, or I may not. Still (for me) so far, so good. =)

How can you get an underline without having a star? This thread has a post with an underline (and no star), but it doesn’t seem especially popular forum-wide. The post isn’t popular within the thread, but IS popular forum-wide? I still don’t understand how it works.
I know it is always nice to be responded to with perfect grammar, etc., but since Support must assist those of many languages, maybe they thought you would prefer to be helped more quickly, rather than wait for someone who speaks the language as a native. Just a thought. =)
There is no need for the Agony mechanic. I was just pointing out some of the questions that may come up as to how your suggestion would work. =) There are many things to consider when we think up ideas, and how each idea might affect other parts of the game. Ideas are always good to have, though. =)
If there is no barrier with ‘dungeon levels’, then what makes it different than the way it is now? I mean, as far as scaling goes? Does it scale to the lowest person’s level? The highest? How are the rewards calculated then?
How does the PUG know they are skilled enough if their level is low? Take them at their word? I am not sure how this would be administrated. (Sorry, it’s late, and I’ve not had much sleep.)
