If i recall shortbow was NEVER nerfed so i dont know how we would nerf it “more”. Second why should it be nerfed? Cause some people abuse its evade? Other class’s can maintain 100% vigor without trying and dodge to there happiest desires and its a issue that was can spam a backward evade 3 maybe 4 times (at what point were out of ini and sitting ducks) So i disagree, besides haven’t we eatin the bat of nerfs enough the last 6 months?
Trickshot is no longer heatseeking and clusterbomb damage was reduced and it’s range was reduced to 900 from 1200.

Watch out, next body shot is going to be nerfed because it has too many effects. After that backstab is going to turn into heal stab and you heal the enemy for striking their back. Maybe we should just get a pointy stick and stay in SoAB because people can’t seem to live with thief anymore unless it turns into easy mode for a 3yr old.
isnt it already easy mode for a 3 year old. I havent played my thief in months and was easily killing people with an outdated build. It dosent take much to kill as a thief just 5 and 1 and here and there a heal and a basilisk venom.

As far as I’m aware you just get the duration of the boons from the player you stole them from.

Honestly, unless you’re on a VOIP program, Shadow Refuge is a waste of a utility slot because most people will keep attacking while downed and get revealed anyway. Devourer Venom is aided by VOIP too, but at least you can use it for your bursts.

I absolutely love most of these changes, though I disagree with just a few of the nerfs (I cbf posting which, it’s not like Anet is going to magically implement your list anyway, as amazing as that would be).

How many times does it have to be said? D/P pseudo-permastealth was already nerfed on the 10th of Dec and it is now impossible to maintain it without the use of utilities with lengthy cooldowns. In fact, maintaining it while doing noticeable damage is close to impossible.

I have several thieves and I agree that stealth is laughably broken in this game. I find it ridiculously easy to down multiple enemies due to my ability to perma stealth at will after the last patch. Anet made it much easier to perma stealth, the opposite of what many of we thieves wanted. I strongly encourage that you persistantly send respectful feedback to ANET about the ability to stealth while in combat. I would like me thieves to offer a challenge again.
This is a blatant lie, it’s now harder to gain pseudopermenant stealth than before the patch.
Also, I seriously can’t believe the amount of people in this thread who haven’t even played a Thief commenting on what a Thief does and how. Half of you haven’t heard of the revealed debuff and the other half doesn’t even know how long Thieves can stay in stealth for in reality.

Similar experience here, I theorycrafted a roamer in two hours and does practically everything my Thief does but better and with less effort. The only thing I miss is SB, lol.

I took my thief into pvp for several days just because people kept telling me this. I ran sword/pistol and got damage and kills in with impunity. There was literally nothing that anyone could do to stop me even if I didn’t manage to kill a target. I didn’t even need practice.
In other words, you’ve played Thief for less than 12 hours and your only PvP experience with Thief was in hotjoin. I play Thief competitively in a team and I can tell just by reading that portion of your post that you have absolutely no idea about Thief or what it needs changed.
It also brings your credibility into question in relation to your other changes. Don’t get me wrong, I support your idea of making changes to skills to meet the original design proposed by Anet, but you clearly aren’t experienced enough to do so.
Also, Thieves do have cool downs, that’s what initiative is, a global cool down mechanic. It is a discussion for another topic that was done to death a year ago, but it is a fact that you keep changing to suit your posts.

Holy kitten at the amount of people who still spout bullkitten about Theives being able to permastealth. Not only does stealth != invulnerability and anyone with two brain cells to rub together can counter it, but permastealth was removed in the 10th of December patch by changing Infusion of Shadow to not give initiative if you use a stealth ability while already in stealth.

You’re right, Thieves greatest advantage is mobility, so why do you have none? Your lack of Shortbow drastically reducses your mobility to the point that you’re slower than anyone with swiftness (with the exception of Heartseeker spam down to quarry on LotF, etc).
Furthermore, your stealth traits are wasted in any fight you assist in and your toughness + amulet choice lowers your damage considerably.
This is just my constructive criticism, btw. I just feel like your build is suboptimal and inferior to even the old 25/30/0/0/15.

I have nothing against people posting their builds, but this is pretty much the standard x/30/30/x/x build, why would you bother posting it? I can’t imagine you’d be very useful in PvP either. Stealth is useless for capping points and time spent in stealth rejuvenating your health is time you’re not doing anything for your team.

Infact valk gear is better than soliders/zerkers and aint useless. Most of d/D thieves’s damage comes from backstabs which allways crits if you got hidden killer. And no you cant just think EHP and Attack power. As precison dossnt matter on a hidden killer backstab. And vitality matters more when youre bouncing in stealth due to heavy condtions and chaincondi. allows you to surive a burst/condi chain more. Valkyrie is total crap because your crit damage is worthless without precision. Full Zerker (weapons, armour, trinkets) with soldier helm, coat, and pants is the best mix.

I cbf recording a video, go watch Caed’s Twitch videos for an example of it being used in tPvP. You can also watch him use it in the 2v2 tournaments.
Also, it’s not a duel build, it’s a team build. Fighting you 1v1 with just Shortbow would prove nothing. A weapon set doesn’t have to be used as a primary in imbalanced, irrelevant duels for it to be good.

Basically they had 2 teams of 8 stand at the bottom of Skyhammer near the big panel, one team attacks the other and they jump off to their deaths and then when they respawned they switched and repeated… Something like that. It netted thousands of glory and rank points in a short amount of time and was stupidly easy to abuse and get to rank 50-60.
Anet has stated before that they know who did it and how many rank points and glory they obtained from it but have refused to comment ever since for some ridiculous reason or another.

Sole people still run S/D + SB 10/30/0/30/0 but they’re just gimping themselves imo. A lot of S/D Thieves switched to SB + D/P 10/30/0/0/30.

Shortbow is 100% fine as primary weapon set, stop asking for buffs just because you don’t know how to use it properly.

I hit for 8,344,000 all the time with Wild Strike on rabbits in WvW, hitting it on a player is impossible though.

Honestly, Shortbow is fine. I use mine 90% of the time in tPvP and only swap to D/P to burst. The damage and utility of the set is perfect, the only set that rivals it is D/P.

I guess you play a ranger or something else because thieves do not have a fire field AoE. Keep in mind that most other classes only have a few seconds of stealth so it ends quickly and that could be the cause of u leaving stealth. We have a poison field AoE and i think that might take us out of stealth (never really tried that, always had more important skills to use while in stealth) but that is not part of your original question.
No it doesn’t because it doesn’t apply any power based direct damage, the same goes for Caltrops. The stolen Engineer skill Throw Gunk is an example of a field that does direct damage which is why it applies revealed.

It’s still perfectly fine and most Thieves running D/D go x/30/30/x/x with Hidden Killer at the core. Look up Yishis and I Am Mugi before making your final decision, but keep in mind that they are very good players.
