Yes for the love of god, nerf it to the ground. I farm it all the time, but it is causing ridiculous inflation on high level items like precursors, and I don’t want to be forced to continue grinding this boring path just to keep up with the Jones’.
Instead of the inflation-fest that is CoF, make grinding directly for mats much more productive, so that people aren’t generating gold out of thin air at 1000 miles per hour.
Endless Petrification Tonic
You crystal desert too Murderin? Yeah, I’m getting sick of our wvw in NA prime time too. The only thing keeping us up in tier is our oceanic crew, which forces us to fight against ridiculous odds during NA hours. So fun /s
They really overdid it with the price to swap servers though… 800 gems would be more reasonable.

Prices could still fall a bit before the end of the month with people cramming in all the boss runs they can.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Honestly I don’t know why they don’t just up the precursor mf rate a bit more. Giving out precursors in events is certainly not the answer as we saw from the karka debacle, and this whole rare bonanza while increasing supply also increased demand a whole lot.
Also they need to nerf cof path 1 to the ground in order to stop the massive inflation of high end items (since every path is generating bucketloads of gold). It’ll be better for the economy if farming mats becomes as effective as farming gold.

Boon hate is the worst idea I’ve heard in while. They’re called boons for god sake, they are supposed to be a good thing. With our standard traits half the time we don’t even have control over how many boons we have, so punishing us for it is inane. Unless they want us to just stop using the traits that give us boons. Oh yeah and better stay away from those combo fields, you might accidentally get some might stacks.
Endless Petrification Tonic
It’s not being simple minded, it’s fact: Warriors have one of the best dps outputs with the smallest amount of work put in. There may be some crazy niche thief builds that could possibly beat war dps by a marginal amount (not even sure about that), but you would no doubt have to work 10 times as hard as opposed to just hitting frenzy and 100b while laying down some banners. And with how long you have to grind dungeons, do you really want to be exerting so much effort all the time (and risking messing up and dying)?
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’m left to assume this is about PvP?
I don’t run competitive play and my traits are all over the place, but I’ve done fine even with what would be considered “bad” gear for many 80s. I don’t use cantrips, either, and rarely use arcane skills (and only 10 in the trait line). I can see replies with “PvE /faceroll”, but spare it, and here’s why:
I only make a clarification because I wish people would stop ranting over classes because [insert PvP viability issue]. This is a general profession forum, with no indication in the title and a vague reference in the OP about counters to suggest that this issue concerns competitive play. I’m not saying take it to PvP forum, but at least be specific because the ele is not nearly as bad-off as this thread would have people believe, overall.
Ele is even worse in pve outside of cursed shore farming. War, mes and to a limited degree thief/guard are gods of dungeon farming and the same classes are the best for fractals as well (especially guard and mes with reflects up the wazoo). Ele is arguably better than necro, ranger, and engi, but that’s not saying much.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Anybody open on US servers?
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’d like to know too. Heard a rumor about it at some point… would be nice to get a high dps, low control weapon for pve.
Endless Petrification Tonic
As I thought… as much fun as ele was to play when everything was new, I’ve found that it just wasn’t designed as well as the other classes. First off the lack of weapon swapping completely kills the potential number of skillsets and thus potential build variation. Second despite having the lowest armor and hp in the game (and it is truly absurd just HOW big of a gap there is between low and high hp classes), it is impossible for us to achieve anywhere near the same dps/burst as the HIGHEST hp/armor class (war), even when ignoring survivability traits/utilities, which is completely inane. Cantrips and water traits just HAPPEN to patch our glaring defensive holes, but as a consequence we are for all intents and purposes forced to take them. Whenever your class lives or dies by 3 utilities, you know you are not well designed.

Once they fix the bug it’s not going to be worth 200g anymore… hell unless you get in really early fulfilling the buy orders you’ll be lucky to get 20g. I currently have 2 that I can’t sell, and many others are chomping at the bit.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Does nobody know what fine transmutation stones actually do? You CANNOT change stats by transmution UNLESS you already have a piece of armor with those stats, in which case you already have what you want. The way GW2 is set up makes it stupidly hard to change builds since you need multiple different sets of equipment with different stats. This is being made even worse with the introduction of ascended items, which completely lock you into builds since it’s very time consuming to get more than one set of them (hell you need a full month for the amulet, and that’s IF you play every day).
Yeah… Let me elaborate….
In gw1 there were upgrade prefixes you could use to change the weapon stats. I’ll put it in gw2 terms for those unfamiliar with how it worked in gw1:
I have a Knight’s Staff. I want to change it to a Giver’s Staff. I can grab a “Giver’s” prefix and change the Knight’s Staff into a Giver’s Staff.
also, don’t quote me but iirc, some weapons in gw1 were already upgradeable like a"staff heads" or “sword handles”
what other people are thinking about are inscriptions, which are much similar but were added later in the game
Why are you telling me this? My post already indicated that GW2’s system (as opposed to GW1) is ridiculous and locks people into builds. If we had the GW1 upgrades in GW2 everything would be fine and dandy, but we don’t, and as I’ve said transmutation stones do absolutely NOTHING to solve the problem, contrary to what others in this thread seem to think.

Just wondering if anybody has come up with any decent trait setups besides the cookie cutter 0/10/0/30/30 or 0/0/10/30/30. My biggest gripe with ele is just how ridiculously little flexibility there is with builds, since arcane is basically mandatory and all the other elemental traitlines besides water are hideously underpowered (not to mention with our low hp we actually really NEED the vitality and healing power from water). I feel like eventually people will learn how to completely counter this build (or it will be nerfed into the ground), but since we have no other options there will be nothing we can do.
Personally I’d like to see the arcane tree completely altered so that it no longer provides the attunement switch bonus, since this makes going for arcane a non-choice. We should have the minimum attunenement switch already pre-baked in the class in my opinion so that we don’t HAVE to go for 30 in arcane.
Heh, I guess this turned more into a rant… but nonetheless I’m curious if anybody has ANYTHING that is actually viable besides cookie cutter.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Why nerf it?
best counters are proper played engis necros maybe rangers very good mesmas and very good thiefsjust overload the ele with a deadly mix of all condis and u will see him dieing
No you will see him CLEANSING, any good ele will be running enough cantrips and cleansing to completely negate condition damage, I know this because I used to run it on my Ele. And that is the problem, water as it is gives an Ele too many ways of clearing conditions, with the 3 cantrip cookie cutter build, you have:
Cleanse when you switch to water
An on demand cleanse when you use a cantrip
Cleanse on dodge roll with Cleansing water
Cleanse from the Glyph heal OR Ether Renewal.Your essentially immune to CC (You have 3 very good stun breakers/mobility tools), you negate burst with the nature of this build, you can put out some pretty decent self healing, not too shabby DPS and you have mobility, it’s too much in one package and needs balance. This is coming from the perspective of someone who has played D/D Ele from beta and stopped playing my Ele about a month ago, it just feels to imbalanced.
Hopefully aNet will review and tone down the amount of cleansing Eles can do and that way condition damage could be a viable counter.
Actually as an ele with all cleansing traits, mass condition necros and engis scare me far more than any wimpy burst classes that I can stunbreak away from and heal. It’s because they can consistently and very quickly load you up with a huge amount of short lasting conditions so that your cleansing is wasted on short condition stacks (and not necessarily the one you may have wanted, like chill or poison), and then they can go to town.

It’s not kill or be killed, and it certainly isn’t anything fair. It’s “wait for your server to capture the puzzle or be killed”. I can kill virtually anybody one on one, and many times one on three or more (depending on noobiness), but when another server controls the puzzle you just have to pray you won’t be mobbed. So fun.
And as you say, it was fun for the players who killed me in a completely unfair and impossible to lose (for them) fight. Great. I’m glad Anet is catering to such an excellent crowd of sadists.
Whatever, got it off my chest, and no doubt I’ll only invite more “l2p” posts, so might as well just delete it now.

Legendary regular sell for 1800+ so no, it doesn’t matter how much the buy order are. For example someone have been putting buy order for Bolt for around 2 weeks with a mere 1000g, and I have noticed at least 3 Bolts have been sold at 1799, 1888, and 1999.
In term of pure material cost, i.e cost of the stuff you can buy, a legendary comes around 1200->1400g already, adding the time for the badge, 400+ skill point and the insanity endured for world completion, to be honest I feel even at 1800 it’s too cheap. Because remember, if a legendary sell at 1800, 15% fee equate to 270g. That leave the seller 1530g, that means only about 100-200g profit margin.
It takes at least 3 days playing delicately to do 100% map completion, if the same afford was put in say … CoF, you’ll make more than 100g in three days, most will take a week or two. Depending on your server could be a week or more to get the badges, and 450sp can be used to make a lot of other thing. All of that for 100-200g profit it definitely not worth it. One can make that amount in less time doing other thing.
So no, unless you’re buying the cheapest legendary, 1500 is in no way a reasonable amount, unless you can find a trusty buyer to directly trade, maybe. But with the TP fee you would already sell at a loss in term of buyable mat, and pretty much gave out your account bound mat for free.
Is it actually possible to go from a new character to world completion in only 20 hours? You say you can make 100g in CoF in the same time, which is about 20 hours. If this is true world completion might actually be a valid farming strategy since skillpoints can sometimes be converted into a good chunk of gold (although not at the moment)… however I must suck at world completion since I took significantly longer than that.

I completely agree, and this problem will only get much, much worse if ascended armor is released. Made a thread about it recently here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Concerns-About-Future-Ascended-Armor/first#post1621570

Save it in case you ever want to make a legendary or two. They take a million karma each.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’m sure there are many rich people who don’t want to bother with farming the required karma, skill points, and world completion gifts, and so just buy the legendaries outright. Probably most of them gold buyers.

Have a named NPC (different color for uniqueness) announce on map channel that the event is starting. If there are too few players on the map (or it fails) then announce the starting of the event next time in surrounding maps. This should only be done for the major chains though as not to glog up map chat; or as an alternative give the npc’s their own channel you can ignore if you like.
For a second I thought you meant you can currently use npcs as puppets to say whatever you want… that would be fun.
Endless Petrification Tonic
For about an hour a month back I thought I could strike it rich since option 1 won 6 times in a row when I first tried it. Needless to say the streak didn’t continue. However, it’s convinced me that the rng in this game is quite streaky (since 1/3^6 = .1% chance of occurring given 6 tries if the rng was genuinely random).

2. good for people who want new skins. perhaps introduce lots of different types of ascended armor skins. more variety.
This would be even worse… if there are multiple good skins you can only choose one.
But yeah, it would be best if the cosmetic system was independent of stats, so we could have a closet of skins and not be shoehorned into using only one or two. Unfortunately I don’t see that happening anytime soon…
Endless Petrification Tonic
The problem is for people who want cosmetic flexibility. If I like the ascended look AND a different look, I am shoehorned into using only the ascended look because if I transmute I will never be able to get the ascended look back.
And if people only care about stats how do you explain legendaries? Skins can be a valuable commodity indeed.

Believe me, transmute stones do not solve the problem since they PERMANENTLY destroy the look of the item you are transmitting onto. For a 3g exotic this ain’t a big deal, but when you are talking a month to acquire one ascended chestpiece you are not going to want to destroy its look just like that. I have over 300 fine transmute stones (from blcs) and am not in any way comforted by them.
easy solution:
- ascended armor upgrade stone
- no new skins for ascended armoruse the new ascended armor upgrade stone to upgrade the stats of existing armor pieces to ascended level.
could be the same for weapons as well.
That’s essentially what I suggested in my first post, so yes. However as I noted I would prefer removable upgrades so we can have multiple exotic sets that we can switch the ascended upgrades between.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Nah, ArenaNet will just get to sell a lot of lvl 80 transmute stones at the gem store. People will keep their unique looks. The transmute stone lets you separately pick the appearance, the stat package, and the rune/gem.

Endless Petrification Tonic
TLDR: Ascended armor will make everyone look the same, and otherwise destroy cosmetic flexibility.
So far all the ascended items have been accessories/back items, but have you thought about what will happen to the state of cosmetics when ascended armor starts coming out? Given how ridiculously long it takes to get one ascended piece, it stands to reason that most people won’t be willing to transmute different skins onto ascended gear -especially if they actually look good- since the skin is as hard to get as the ascended piece. If this is the case we will eventually end up with all dedicated players running around in the exact same gear… which is incredibly dull.
Unfortunately for me I like a degree of freedom in changing up my look. This is already hard enough given you currently need different exotic sets with different skins to accomplish this, but ascended armor would completely and utterly destroy any notion of this. For even if the ascended armor had no skin (and had to be transmuted) it would still lock me into using the skin of the one ascended set that I managed to grind for.
A possible option to avoid this would be adding extra slots to all armor pieces and instead of actual armor releasing ascended “jewels” that we can freely slot AND remove from exotic armor pieces.
(and besides cosmetics there is the whole business of locking us into builds, which is even harder to address…)

The best is in cof path 1 at the braziers, when one of the mobs that spawns can lose aggro and become invulnerable AS you are smacking him with 100b. Not really a problem per se in this case since you don’t need to kill him, but it’s pretty funny when it happens.

Wow this sudden spike in precursor cost has me scratching my head. There were 17 sparks for sale and now overnight that’s been reduced to 6. I was expecting the new boss drops to keep prices stable due to lower rare costs, but evidently not. Is demand really up that much due to cheaper ectos?
Endless Petrification Tonic
I ask because I’ve been pvping on my d/d bunker/condition ele recently (carrion amulet), and by far the class that gives me the most trouble are necros. They seem to have great survivability while still being able to wreak havoc with conditions. Are they just a good counter to my class/build, or have they seen enough buffs recently to render them a major threat?

Nonetheless I agree that a couple of the recent dailies have been a bit ridiculous and made me go too far out of my way even with 9 choices (since 4 are almost non-choices), and made me pine for the dailies of last month that I could do consistently in an efficient manner (since there wasn’t too much variation, I learned the best places to accomplish them quickly and didn’t have to waste much time everyday figuring out what I had to do). The “do x in zone y” dailies definitely need to go away.

Endless Petrification Tonic
No, because the Hall of Monumens is in the Eye of the North and is good to have all the expansion to get most of achivements.
To OP, all items are the old ones, they dont put “new” items, simple now the mask and the gloves could wear in heavy, medium or light armor, but there are the old ones.
The Hall Monuments are a reward for people who get X achivements in GW1, is known sice 2007 when they launch Eye of The North, the Fiery Dragon Sword was a skin in GW1 and is not new in this update , is in GW2 since beta.
The same with the players who unlkitten Title “God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals” to people who get 30 Max titles in GW1, they still have it in GW2.
Is a reward for all veteran GW players who work hard for their characters for 7-8 years, maybe if someday launch GW3 they will do the same thing.
Honestly it seems a bit unfair to have the most desirable sounding title in GW2 be exclusive to (hardcore) GW1 players. Such an awesome title should be one of the ultimate rewards in THIS game, not the previous. My opinion of course. Thankfully titles aren’t too big a deal but it’s a bit of a turnoff.

Yes, but it is next to impossible to shatter even one, ever. I personally have never even seen a crystal prison since they shatter so quickly. Still sitting at 0 broken after 10 or so shatterer events.
Endless Petrification Tonic
This achievement seriously needs to be scrapped now, since it is all but impossible to achieve. There are literally hundreds of players spamming aoe at every Shatterer event now, and only 5 (!) players get encased in crystal per event, with the crystals shattering in 1 hit. Just shattering one crystal is like winning the lottery, and you have to shatter 5 for the achievement. Just a tad ridiculous. I say either buff the amount of players encased in crystals MASSIVELY, or change the achievement.

Might actually be worth it to try my hand at the forge given that mf materials (ie level 75-80 rares) have already fallen, yet the most sought after precursors haven’t yet.

After wintersday, platinum doubloons were selling for 5s apiece. I was considering buying up to 300g worth since I KNEW the same thing happened after halloween, but stupidly invested only 60g because I thought for some dumb reason Anet might have increased their drop rate (and anecdotal evidence based on some personal farming SEEMED to confirm it, which I know now was a bunch of crap). Their price increased more than 10-fold a month later. So I made about 400g (since I sold some before the peak), but could have made 3000 gold… yeah.
And now it feels like I’ll have to wait another year for an opportunity anywhere near the orders of magnitude that wintersday offered (princess wand skins I also fudged on by not buying enough at 2s).

That’s . . . an interesting problem.
I’d say the moral isn’t “don’t fiddle with stuff” it’s “double check your work”. The Bank/Bag tab problem, some other things that don’t ask for confirmation, in general the moral of all these problems hitting people is: pay closer attention to what you’re doing.
It’s your own doing, your own fault, and while I take my hat off in sympathy . . . the lesson is not that things are badly designed (and even if you can successfully make the case they are) it is more that you should ‘measure twice, cut once’ as the old adage goes. Double check before you do something you might not be able to undo.
Come on I have to press an OK box to break down a green item and there is no confirmation box for changing guild leadership?
Best response ever. Seems like a pretty big oversight to have no confirmation on such an important change. Hell they shouldn’t even allow demoting yourself without first choosing a successor.
On a side note, anyone know if there is a confirmation box for leaving a guild? With this news I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s not, and given the location of the button (right next to represent), I may one day end up leaving one of my solo “stash” guilds by accident and lose all access to my guild banks forever.
