I’m disappointed it does not say “Conglaturation !!!”

Supported so hard it hurts. The current system is just plain stupid… if you want multiple looks you have to buy multiple sets of the same stats and then transmute the looks you want, wasting an obscene amount of money in the process. Plus it is an enormous pain carrying around all those sets of armor.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I agree. As an Elementalist, I only use Fiery Greatsword to escape from or kite foes in PvP. I doubt that was intended.
Actually it appears to me that it WAS designed around mobility… and what awesome mobility it provides! It has better mobility than even the ridiculously mobile D/D, and when using staff in WvW FGS is absolutely indispensable for escaping from enemy zergs (good luck running away with staff alone). If I can successfully summon it, I am essentially guaranteed survival as nearly no class is capable of keeping up, much less a whole zerg. In fact the only thing I find comparable to FGS is thief with shortbow.
But for sPvP Glyph of Elementals is actually an incredible elite that people (especially enemy players) tend to underestimate. Fire Elemental can do obscene amounts of damage when your enemy is least expecting it and turn the tide of a skirmish easily, and water elemental can likewise provide some insane healing (although I don’t like to rely on it). Air elemental stun is often priceless and enemy players tend to not notice it pew-pewing in the background until it is too late. Finally earth elemental is good for tanking lord and other npcs.
Whirlpool needs some help though…

It’s probably worth it just so I don’t have to buy extra pickaxes anymore… although given I have alts it kind of nullifies that benefit. I’ll have to think about getting it… If it was multipurpose and could gather and log too, it would be a done deal.

There is the princess wand scepter skin, which is super cheap AND awesome/particle effecty… so that limits the value of the super scepter a bit.

Profane armor on females is the tackiest armor in gw2. It’s trying so hard to be sexy but utterly fails, ending up as nothing but tasteless.
Endless Petrification Tonic
They should really just give all unique items an in-game description: “a single character may only equip one of this item”
The unique property does not exactly stand out visually, and isn’t very descriptive on it’s own. For all the buyer knows it could just mean the item is one of a kind (which is actually true, unlike most exotic equipment where multiple different sets have the exact same stats).
Endless Petrification Tonic
Agreed, I want just ONE pair of pants with no skirt bullcrap for my female ele. Variety is the spice of life…
Endless Petrification Tonic
They are the best PvE class for faceroll content, since they have the best damage support and do the best dps against dumb ai who can’t dodge and don’t live long enough to fight back.
They are the worst PvP class. Because other players know how to dodge.

I’d like a dev to see this, because you make a great case. After all, WHY would the different ele staff auto-attacks be given different cast times if it makes absolutely no functional difference? As you have answered, the most obvious explanation is: because attacks were initially balanced around cast time, but animation time unintentionally superseded cast time entirely post-balance.
I’ve always felt ele staff autos were unjustifiably slow, and now I understand why. It’s terrible to think that an animator arbitrarily deciding to make certain animations more elaborate can have such negative and far reaching impacts on game balance. Not surprisingly, it is the easily overemphasized motions like casting a spell with a staff or scepter that have caused the biggest problems.

Although this isn’t a dynamic event per se, I felt it would be good to make this thread in the spirit of “Uncontested temple of Balthazar” in which people can post when and where a 10% karma banner is up. I believe it fits best in this subforum, where it can grow and not get immediately get buried by general game discussion.
My reason for creating this thread is that when you have hundreds of thousands of karma worth of jugs or drops, that extra 5% karma increase over a normal karma banner makes a huge difference, but given the rarity of these banners (due to the 3 merit cost) it is often a painful waiting game when you want to cash in on your karma consumables.
So without further ado, post away! Looking forward to see if this thread can gain some momentum and help folks out.

Yes please, been trying to get this done almost since launch. I’ve opened 700 chests and only received one ever (and that was before black lion chests were updated in December, which appears to have nerfed the drop rate to even more obscenely low levels). I want to collect the other 2 but doubt I ever will be able to until they are made available in some other non-ridiculous fashion. Put them in the laurel store or make them tradeable, just do SOMETHING that makes them reasonably obtainable by those who want them. As it is it is significantly easier to get a legendary than get one of these tonics (I know since I have a legendary).
Endless Petrification Tonic
Don’t forget Bifrost also requires 750 crystalline dust. There are just far too many uses for dust and far too few outlets to get it.
Endless Petrification Tonic
How in the hell do you get 50-100 badges an hour following the zerg? Even as an ele with massive aoe attacks I get maybe 20-30 an hour, and that is when there are actually some decent sized battles (often there are none). And I feel like I get kill credit for most of the players I see die. 0-2 badges from taking a camp or fortification doesn’t really add up too quickly either.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Call me a whiner I don’t care. All I know is that as a resident of Crystal Desert I’m missing out on boatloads of badges every day because of the simple fact they we can almost never occupy the jumping puzzle. Tell me how it is fair that simply by virtue of being on a steamrolling server like Maguuma one can with near certainty be able to complete the jp every day (quickly and with all alts with the help of a mes), and thereby rake in 30 or more free badges a day, while those of us unfortunate enough to be on a dominated server have to pray and spam map chat every hour just to MAYBE have a chance every few days. Badges are the most patently unfair and poorly designed currency in this game, and it has everything to do with this kittening jumping puzzle.
And yes, I need lots of badges, since I make and sell legendaries. Badges are one of the biggest bottlenecks in making any legend once you have a sufficient amount of gold.

Nobody uses minis. Know why? Every time your inventory fills and you hit the “deposit all collectibles” button, your minis are spirited away along with your tiny fangs and venom sacs. It would be wise to add a separate button for depositing minis so that you don’t automatically deposit them whenever you want to get rid of your other junk.
Same applies to pvp items. I almost never use glory boosters even though I have 60 of them because they are always in my pvp locker due to that cursed deposit collectible button.

Ironically it was the most fun boss I’ve fought in a while. But he’s ridiculously easy after the first time. Still, it is possible for him to punish you hard if you mess up.
But you know… one thing about him that differs from every other boss in GW2… he doesn’t have 500 billion hp! Imagine, the challenge is actually built on mechanics rather than cheap hp inflation!
Endless Petrification Tonic
The patch notes for it say: “Each Name Change Contract can change one character’s name once”. At first this gave me the impression that you can only change a character’s name once, ever. However, I suspect now that it means each individual contract can only change a name once. Can I change the same character’s name multiple times with multiple contracts? I fear commitment :P

Great, the bug exploiters get the tonic first. I was hoping to be among the first to get this tonic but because of the stupid pvp monthly bug I’m now 10 days behind.

For World 2 I absolutely want to make rifle and dagger skins.
Thank you so much for relieving my concerns about this! I was so looking forward to having an awesome particle effect dagger, but was disappointed when none surfaced. Now I’m happy again!
Endless Petrification Tonic
Is anybody else severely disappointed by the lack of weapon skins available from the super adventure box bubble store? Why for the love of god is there no dagger skin? There is already a great shortage of decent looking dagger skins with particle effects, so I was hoping that this release would help remedy the situation given how awesome the super sword and greatswords look… at the very least couldn’t they have just made a miniature version of those? I suppose as a non-greatsword user by now I should be used to being left out in the cold when it comes to weapon skins…
Endless Petrification Tonic
Was actually thinking of starting a thief who I level up almost purely on world completion. Probably won’t be so strict as to completely outlaw killing though (especially since skill points and hearts require it often).
Endless Petrification Tonic
I have to say… is it really a problem that people aren’t farming the dungeon? Dungeons paths weren’t intended to be farmed for hours on end long past the point you’ve gotten your dungeon gear and lost any sense of joy in doing them. Let the people move onto other things. We just need a nerf to cof now.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’ve figured out one of the scenarios where it routinely fails: I use the superior sigil of the geomancer (a weapon swap sigil), and when I am in combat and the sigil is off cooldown, conjuring a weapon triggers the effect of the sigil (a ring of earth bleeding nearby targets). This seems to have the side effect of preventing the weapon from conjuring in my hands.
However, I believe I have encountered the bug without the sigil, though not as frequently.

Can’t believe there is still no official word on this. Lazy programming like this has no place in a so-called “AAA” mmo, and this fluke should have been addressed immediately. Would it seriously be so hard to wait until the start of April to implement the monthly counter? The lack of foresight is mind-boggling, and the lack of response even more so. I’m losing faith in the developers of this game, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Hmm, well I’ve been thinking and think I’ll probably go with incinerator after all. It just feels more true to my playstyle, and dagger is still plenty useable in fractals and wvw (especially for mobility). Plus it will probably look pretty cool coupled with the arah, ghastly, or corrupted dagger (if only ghastly stayed glowing all the time it would be absolutely perfect as a companion).
Feel free to try and convince me otherwise though!
Endless Petrification Tonic
Yeah I’m kitten about this too. Now I’m 10 days behind everyone else for being proactive. I understand they might not be able to track when everyone completed monthlies, but at the very least they could have patched it out right away to limit the amount of people getting an unfair advantage, but it seems they didn’t even do that. Thanks a lot anet.

Bifrost looks awesome. As far as legends go only behind twilight and sunrise in terms of appeal imo. I guess if you don’t like rainbows…
Endless Petrification Tonic
I stand corrected. Now I don’t feel AS bad for selling one for 300g.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Alright, so I can afford and am considering making either incinerator or bifrost. I’ve been a longtime d/d user, using it from the beginning from everything to leveling to dungeons to WvW. I love the quick playstyle, mobility, and access to multitudes of quick non-target AoE. This is really the weaponset that made me choose ele as my main. For this reason I initially considered incinerator.
However, as I’ve been getting into high level fractals, I seem to be using staff more and more, since the risk of going melee often just is not worth it or even viable (especially since d/d damage isn’t top tier in terms of melee dps). Additionally, with how many people have been in WvW with the recent patch I’ve been using staff almost exclusively in WvW and am getting tons of kills and badges with it. I am in Crystal Desert (tier 4) and am unsure if this influx of mega-zergs everywhere will continue, yielding d/d forever subpar from now on.
D/D certainly is still the king of sPvP, but since you can’t use pve gear in spvp that’s a bit of a moot point. There is still dueling in WvW but that can be few and far between, especially lately.
Lastly, I do think bifrost looks a lot cooler and certainly more “legendary” than incinerator. It looks like they put a lot more work into the design (with the floating crystals and whatnot), the theme is a lot more interesting (rainbow vs fire), you get an aura, and it’s also just plain bigger/more noticeable. There is also the allure of it being a two handed weapon, so I won’t feel “incomplete”, compared to the incinerator where I’ll still have a non-legendary dagger in my off-hand.
Any opinions on which weapon I should pursue?
Endless Petrification Tonic
The problem is, prices will rise to absurd levels if something is not changed. 50s was honestly lowballing it. CoF is just FAR too profitable and generates FAR too much gold from thin air.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I actually don’t think it drops any more. The wiki is likely wrong. I think it only dropped from the wintersday gem boxes. I’m happy I have mine but I wish I hadn’t sold my second for a piddly 300g. Could go up to 1000g or more if they don’t rerelease it.
Endless Petrification Tonic
It will not get profitable to farm them until they are worth 50s or more because there is such a discrepancy in profit between CoF and farming mats (not to mention DR kicks in HARD on cursed shore farming after a piddly 45 minutes). I’m honestly shocked that Anet still has not reared CoF in. The quickness nerf did absolutely nothing.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Fiery greatsword still routinely fails to show up in my hand when I cast it, especially when I most need it to get away (ie. when getting mobbed by enemies in WvW). Please do further testing on this and deliver a true fix.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I play the wrong classes and builds, there is basically no time I would have a problem with any random boon being dropped on me… or has my change of medication overnight led to me missing a key point?
Apparently you play in a vacuum because nearly all class boons apply to teammates as well. Additionally as an ele one of our standard traits gives us boons whenever we switch attunements, which is hardly optional. The only “option” is whether or not to run the trait, and with how limited ele builds are already it just pigeonholes us even more.
Additionally with how many combo fields eles have, boons get thrown around willy nilly with little choice in the matter, since simply using a move with a blast finisher in a field will give one.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Yep, especially since this was the first month I even DID my pvp monthly… thanks a lot Anet. Give me my laurels.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Yes, most everyone agrees boonhate is a terrible crock of horse crap. Soon you’ll have to start worrying about standing around combo fields or eles because “oh noes, they might give me one of those dreaded BOONS!”
With how little control you have over getting boons, there should be no strategic disincentive for having them. Period.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Bullkitten. Remove the laurels from those who got them wrongly or reimburse those who did the pvp monthly earlier… 10 laurels is no joking matter, and puts many players a week and a half ahead of others for no good reason.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I think there is going to be an exodus from crystal desert… I will probably leave, despite having 2 “stash” guilds in it along with a pretty cool main guild. WvW is just too horrible for the forseeable future.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Heh, CoF nerf was the thing I wanted most too. Inflation is ridiculous right now. Time warp nerf will at least bandaid it, but won’t help much.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Time warp was the ONLY source of quickness in need of nerf.
On a side note, hopefully CoF farming will at least get slowed down a bit now, although I’m not optimistic.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Account bound eh? Now you guys know how I feel about endless mystery tonics… they have a drop rate of 1/1000 in black lion chests and are account bound. Utterly ridiculous. Harder to get them than legendaries.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I honestly don’t even know why they are making a leaderboard for this. The only people on it will be people who have never missed a daily or monthly (pve and pvp).
Endless Petrification Tonic
5 million items bought? Holy lord… just how much gold do you have now?
Endless Petrification Tonic
Use the spacebar. Good to have such a vital and clutch ability on such an easy to hit key.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Same, login server must be down… hopefully they get it back up by reset
Endless Petrification Tonic
Getting sick of cd. Eternally outmanned during NA hours. Honestly wish the oceanic players would leave so we could drop to a tier we actually belong (nothing against the players themselves, but it really is ruining the experience for us NAers).
