Wow, so it’s worth it after all… I need to hurry up with those achievements…

The problem with the current way of aquiring Boxes o’ Fun, is that a single person pays the cost, while everyone else benefits just as much as that one person who actually bought it. Since there is such a large positive externalize here, the supply for the Box o’ Fun will never meet the demand.
Also, Petrified is the best Box o’ Fun ability… maybe if we could get a “Box o’ Petrified” more people would by them, even with the massive positive externalities involved.

Hmm, maybe this is how those endless multicolored ooze tonics accidentally got given away…
Endless Petrification Tonic
With the proliferation of boxes o fun lately, I’ve discovered how fun the petrify status is. Striking a pose and becoming a purty statue for all to admire is quite excellent. The only problem is that boxes o fun are the only source of this nifty effect, unlike most of the other effects in a box o fun, so you can’t really take advantage of it on demand. For instance, we now have a book that allows the special dances, there are many animal transformation tonics, and there are hylek potions that can change your color.
Thus, as a tonic enthusiast, I propose that endless petrification tonics be added to the gem store a la the “learn to dance” book, for 400-800 gems. Alternatively, a recipe could be made requiring 50 lodestones like the other recent infinite tonics. I believe onyx lodestones would be an ideal candidate given onyx is a type of rock… and petrification turns you into a rock.
My character wholly approves of this idea… or at least I think she does. She can’t really seem to talk right now:

If you go in and out a couple times you can usually find a fresh race within a minute. Much faster than waiting 4 and a half minutes.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Fear not, for nobody gets an undeserved first whenever I race. I usually finish with about 4:40 left on the clock and then exit the race so I can start another. It’s no cof farm, but at least it’s a fun way to make some ok gold.

Adnul is still immensely overpowered and can only be beaten through sheer luck. His water heals twice as much as drinking damages him and his signature move is far more powerful than any of the others.
The only way to win is if he never drinks water. Finally managed to beat him after like 40 tries and it was only because he didn’t drink much water and I managed to belch when he was drinking water a couple times.

Each consumable multicolor ooze tonic costs 10s to craft, so after 4000 uses of this tonic I’ve got my money’s worth. And believe me, I use these tonics a lot so that will happen faster than you think. The feeling of losing money every time I use a consumable tonic considerably dampens the fun. Besides that it has value as a pure collector’s item.

I vote Kiel because that greedy son of a kitten Gnashblade has been scamming us out of gold with his monopoly since launch.

Robles is right on all counts. I thought it would end up cheaper but then found out its existence is likely a mistake. If I could go back I would definitely buy it at 150g lol (I nearly pulled the trigger then but unfortunately held back). But anet has shown enough disdain for tonic collectors (the account bound one in a thousand black lion chests endless mystery tonics, and the still unsellable halloween tonics) that I really don’t trust them to ever rectify this issue or release more if their existence is indeed a mistake.
I am an enormous tonic collector but everything has a price. I personally don’t think anyone can offer enough gold to make me part with it and that is just fine with me. I merely told you about the ballpark of what would make me consider selling it (and even then I would have to think it over).
And yes, the sale happened within a minute so it was too fast to be recorded by gw2spidy.

So instead of fixing cof Anet makes items unnecessarily expensive. Brilliant.
Risingashes brings up the most important point, in that all other pvp activities in this game are free (outside of siege and repairs in wvw). It’s dumb to lock actual content behind a massive paywall. Are we going to have to pay to enter dungeons next?
Endless Petrification Tonic
Infinite is 100g… completely ridiculous gold sink. Should be 10g max.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Even in the US I have occasional issues with 3 overshooting or checkpointing me upon apparently landing, so I can’t imagine how bad it must be for oceanic players. I hate to say it but there should not be a title for getting first place because of this (yes I have the title).
I’ve found the autoaim 3 chains work best if you make sure not to hold any direction keys, for what it’s worth.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I don’t understand why gw1 players feel so entitled. Wasn’t your character in gw1 reward enough for your achievements in that game? No, you have to get the best title in gw2 without doing anything in this game and now you get to monopolize the leaderboards. You don’t see anything wrong with that?
They really need to revert this change. If anything this is a last ditch effort to increase sales on the dead gw1. And no, I am nowhere near getting on the leaderboard, but the principal of this thing is just bs.

As an ele, I absolutely love the extra crit damage. With our permafury crit damage is worth much more, and having mf at the same time is icing on the cake. I take back everything I said against the method for obtaining it… I will gladly grind for a month to get this gear.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Well for better or worse I am now the owner of one of the two tonics in existence. Can’t say my wallet is happy, but I am too crazy about tonics to let this slip through my fingers. So I am now 400g poorer and one tonic richer:

I’m not planning on selling this for anything short of something really crazy (like 2500g crazy)… so yeah. If you want the other one you should buy it.

Eles benefit from all 3 defensive stats (vitality, toughness, and healing power) since we have the lowest hp pool in game (need vitality to survive conditions) and our skills scale well with healing power. Armor/toughness is actually needed the least since we get protection from attuning to earth/armor of earth skill and a lot of toughness while channeling skills with obsidian focus trait.
Celestial also provides enough offense that we don’t hit like wet noodles. The crit damage coupled with our nearly permafury is most important. Celestial in PvE provides more total stat points than any other set, and since eles can use all of them, it is a no-brainer.
Endless Petrification Tonic
It’s because Anet hates eles, the only class that benefits from celestial gear.

If you bank all your money waypoints are free when you die. You could also try using a low level character for cheaper waypoints.
It withdraws it out of your bank. It would all need to be on another character. I think the purpose of this event is to correct the economy. Mat sinks and gold sinks here I come.
Ok, then put up a buy order of all your gold for something that will never sell like permanent hair style contract and then immediately cancel the order. All of your gold will now be in the black lion trading post pickup (this is how I always transfer gold from character to character most easily).

Why in god’s name does this trait only work in combat? As if it wasn’t bad enough already. The only worth it would have is for fast roaming, but since it doesn’t work outside combat it is pointless. Warriors can get 25% movement speed outside combat with an adept trait just for holding a melee weapon, so at least throw us a bone on a master trait which only works with ONE weaponset. I’m convinced it was not intended to be this way, but that they never bothered fixing it because almost nobody uses this trait anyways.
And if you do fix it, please don’t make conjures remove the bonus.

If you still have silk or leather, dump it now. It’s already far overpriced compared to other mats. It’s just a big bubble waiting to burst, and it probably will in the next few hours.
It will keep going up. If there is anything you can count on it is people to make bad investments and keep buying well past the profitability point.
plus right now all that leather is in holding. A lot of it will get dumped into boxes tomorrow which will initially be more profitable then dumping the leather.
You might be right lol. Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. I feel when the patch actually hits things might stabilize however, since actual players rather than just speculators will be buying the mats.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Typical warrior favoritism. Can’t only give them the best legendary in the game, nope, have to make every new armor especially for them too. Same thing happened with molten gloves and dragon helmet. They design armor for heavy classes and stick all other classes with them because they are too lazy to design more than one set.
Endless Petrification Tonic
The consensus on the Elementalist forums is that Arenanet deliberately wants them to be outclassed by everything.
Don’t have to ask us, it came straight from the mouth of a dev. Eles have been trampled on consistently even after falling out of the meta. The number of nerfs just adds insult to injury.

I agree. That’s why I made a thread a week ago.

You pay the listing fee of 5% too. That isn’t noted in projected profit. Just multiply total by .85 whenever you want to find out net gross.
Endless Petrification Tonic
unless demand rises for the monocles a 100% profit is hardly the “big winner”… coffers will make a much higher % profit. I’m highly doubtful most people are gonna pay 100+g for half of a pair of glasses that don’t go well with most of the armors..
They’re going for 80g+. That’s close to a fourfold increase and you won’t have to wait 10 years like for coffers. And the only reason coffers spiked today is because of the unforseeable new zhaitaffy sink. Zhaitaffy is already far overpriced now compared to other mats (45s for zhaitaffy vs 20s for mithril ore to get one quartz chest), so a crash is immenent.

Nope it’s 19.13 silver a stack if sold at 9c. Still better than merchanting at 7s (loss of 2.5s a stack). But if silk scraps remain above 8c, all involved mats will remain higher including mithril ore since all (lower priced) mats will rise to reach price equilibrium. Inefficient mats like orichalcum ore will of course be unaffected.
Endless Petrification Tonic
People are dumb. Even at 8c, 250 thick leather sections are less cost effective than 50 mithril ore (at 38c) or 30 cotton scraps (at 66c). Silk scraps are just as bad.

Ah, thanks for quick correction, looks like you thought this through. Thanks again!

If you don’t know already, only ONE of your characters can get the home instance quartz node. Sadly the best way to take advantage of it is to make a trash character and park it permanently outside your home instance.
The way it should have been done is, give all characters on your account the node but only allow one character to mine it per day. That way you don’t have to choose between completing your main character and being able to mine efficiently.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Told ya’ll monocle would be the big winner. Tiny supply and an unfarmable dungeon means they’re worth a lot.
Infinite recipes I expect to spike in the next few days as well.

Been playing with necromancer and my god is the flesh golem elite so much better than our elementals, because YOU CAN ACTUALLY CONTROL IT. Can’t count how many times I have escaped or sealed a kill with its active knockdown command, and every time it makes me hate our elementals that much more. It would bring so much more strategy to a fight if I could actually control when my ice elemental knocks foes back and heals. Maybe they would have to tone down the damage/heal numbers a bit on fire/ice, but it really boggles my mind why our skill gets such lazy treatment compared to theirs.
Additionally, why do our elementals die after a set amount of time while flesh golem stays forever until it is killed, and with a MUCH lower cooldown (60 seconds versus 180 seconds)? Never have to worry about timing when summoning golem, unlike our stingy elementals.
Speaking of necro elites that blow ours out of the water… plague form. It’s like tornado form but good. But that’s for another thread.

This would be pretty great.
Endless Petrification Tonic
The profit is so tiny that it would hardly be worth it (20g for a 150g investment and risk being undercut). It’s possible but unlikely imo. If someone was really convinced there wouldn’t be anymore on the market they would list it for much more and make hundreds of gold, not 199g for a piddly 20g you can make in cof in a few hours. For this reason I think it is the same person listing both.
Endless Petrification Tonic
(edited by Jabberwock.9014)
Hold the presses, the first one has been bought and a second one has been listed. This almost certainly means it is NOT rare anymore, or the person who found the first one found a recipe or something for making it.

Holy fazoli, this thing has been in gw2db since launch and someone finally figured out how to get it?! I must know how.

Well my summer break from college started at the beginning of May so… for me it is :P

I sold an incinerator for 2250g in less than 10 hours a couple months ago (600g profit). Honestly I’ll never do it again though… too risky with the listing fee, and now I’m out of gifts of exploration (made a second incin for myself after selling the first one).

Still waiting on PvE/WvW rtl cooldown rollback. Honestly it’s almost ok in sPvP (should reduce to 35s long cooldown and make it so blocks don’t put it on long cooldown) but one of the reasons I chose ele in the beginning of the game was because of fast roaming with 12s rtl cooldown. Back then I wouldn’t have even fathomed a four-fold increase in cooldown, but here we are.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’ve been trying necro and it’s nearly impossible for me to die against a d/d ele… and I’m a complete noob to the class. However, they are still able to run away easy enough with lf or rtl. Honestly in 1v1 scenarios running seems to be the best bet against necros with how op they are now and how fast eles melt to conditions.
I would recommend ether renewal in almost any ele build at this point too. Complete condition cleanse is a must in this condition apocalypse. You can couple it with obsidian focus for added survivability while channeling (more useful in s/d though with air channel).

Yeah, costume maker is desperately needed, and would make people want to collect (read: buy) all the clothes even more, so it’s a win-win for us and anet.

As an ele main, this viable build variety makes me drool.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Anecdotal evidence, and I have anecdotal evidence with the opposite conclusion in that I’ve had buy orders unfulfilled overnight. I’ve already outlined the reasons why there is so little supply and not much more will arrive. You can take advantage or not. Buy orders are steadily increasing and sell orders are continuing to disappear. This is happening even without the aid of end-of-event speculation.
And I’m only debating on principal right now. These things are gonna rise whether I help them or not, I’m just curious how much.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Hell, they could give us necro hp and our glass canon builds still wouldn’t be op, since we are so easy to catch and focus down compared to thieves and mesmers that constantly cause foes to lose target. Even bunker builds wouldn’t be really op since max hp is almost an afterthought when massive healing comes into the mix… effective hp would remain almost the same but just with a one-off hp advantage at the start of fights which would help against burst.
