What happened to playing the game for fun rather than farming for gold?
Repeating events is really not that fun.
Meh, totally subjective. Also, the game isn’t all events.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
How much gameplay do you expect out of a single game? This is an honest question and one that doesn’t seemed to be asked too often.
Do you want 500 hrs? 600? 1000+? What is realistic for you and what you think a company can (and should) supply for your investment?
There are a lot of people saying there is not enough content for the long run, but that determination seems to be after hundreds (if not thousand) of hours of play. Shouldn’t we discuss our expectations before we start saying that Anet is not living up to what we want?
Or do we just expect that there should be unlimited amount of content to continue to provide entertainment for as long as we want (or can) play?
+1 Seriously, how come more people don’t realize this..
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
wow- I just looked up Moonshank and that is a seriously cool dagger- my thief would look great with two
I just need to get her up to 80
Oh yeah, theyre a great looking set. I’ve used them for a long time until recently switching to S/D instead.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I was in the same position after switching to Devona’s so I feel your pain
I waited for about 3 weeks to get back to TC, and it was only after the server expansion. Maybe they might do it after the patch, I dunno, But just keep checking back at dead hours to see if you might get lucky.
Good luck!

Just make a corrupted dagger, its easily the nicest skin this side of Incinerator.
While it would be about the best match, I’m not fond of the actual dagger skin and the particle fade on sheathe is annoying. I’m just going to stick with my Moonshank until maybe they update Jormag’s needle? Maybe possibly Anet?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Honestly, looking at that list made me realize just how unloved daggers went. 2 skins, both essentially the same model, and no particle affect. I really really wish Jormag’s needle could have a effect to match my Jormag’s breath, because as it is now, Its nowhere near worth it to craft. It’s the only thing I need to complete my character, a good dagger skin that isn’t the legendary.
sigh

there is a think called integrity.
With the internet and anonymity, the concept of integrity goes out the window in a lot of cases. While I agree that your idea would be good, there is just far too many people that will use this to try and bolster their own biased opinion. Unfortunately, this makes the actual people with integrity suffer due to their findings having no merit.

[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Nothing like this will ever work ever. Whats stopping me from saying that I got 2 exotics from 1 event? Can you disprove it? You can say it’s impossible, but its not. You can say I must be lying, but I can come right back and say you’re lying about not receiving an exotic in 500 hours.
As much as I wish to see the results of it, community reports on such a small scale simply can’t be used as a definite, concrete measure.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I’m guessing u’r talking about Perfect World.
Good guess.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
You can buy up a few Unbreakable Bells, and Endless Toymaker Tonics.
Then again.. I always fail at pump and dump.
Endless toy tonics have been dropping in price since Wintersday ended. Factoring in the number of people who got the tonic they wanted using the Mystic Forge recipe makes it a huge risk to take IMO.
As for the bells, who knows. What happens when the lute gets released with better sound and no delay? =P
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I love the way quickness was implemented in this game, it’s useful, but not over the top OP.
I come from a game where 5 attacks per second was the meta, and you had to spend hundreds of dollars to achieve it. The system we have now is a blessing compared to that.
I agree with you about the downed state though, I like it in PvE, but sometimes it just gets annoying in sPvP or WvW when you get one down and move on to the other one, but the other dude’s chucking rocks at you, which actually do quite a bit of dmg.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
As an artist and avid cosmetic enthusiast myself, I love this idea and would definitely participate.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
From what I gather, you want movement on mouseclick?
This would have the opposite effect on mobility in combat..
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I just don’t think this would be as popular as you think it is.
I can see this appealing to 2 types of people:
- The MMO player who heard about the original GW but decided not to buy it due to the graphics but hasnt played GW2.
- The MMO players who are playing GW2 but are still interested in GW1.
The rest of the people would just be wondering why Anet would even try such a thing, why would you buy the first generation of something when the second is already out. Not to mention it would cut GW2’s current population by I’d say 1/4th. Possibly more.
Also, I think it would be far too much work to do it in the way you suggest. They would basically have to rewrite the whole game.
Though I didn’t play the first GW, I understand that you miss it since I have friends that still love playing it alongside GW2.
Also, what about the people who already have GW? Would this be a complimentary upgrade or would they have to pay?

Some people are jumping off cliffs and assuming this is a case of “why didn’t you research it!?!” and instead it’s a case of “why didn’t I get a popup?”
Simple.
I want a warning when I move my character forwards or backwards! Too many times I accidentally move and fall right off a cliff!
You get it when you are in overflow.
You get it, continuously, when breaking gear down above a specific quality level.
You get it when you’re about to drop something out of your inventory and will in turn delete it.
Basically, this is an issue of functionality. If this were some kind of dreamland, you’d probably be a little annoyed there wasn’t a safeguard in place to stop you from even accidentally moving and falling off a cliff.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Honestly, this is the kind of thing that gets me upset at game companies and their policies. The guy made an honest mistake brought on in part by an item label that makes no sense. Just be a person helping another person out and return the blooms and remove the item from his inventory. Why does it have to be a big deal? And the rest of you who would rather make snarky comments than offer sympathy, I guess you’ve never hoped someone would have your back after a mistake.
Anet has already made their stance on stuff like this very clear. From what they’ve told us, there is no possible way for them to manipulate what a character has in their possession. Trust me, people including myself have lost far more then one run worth of tokens in this game and the answer is the same every time. There is nothing they can do about it. When I make mistakes like this, I call myself an idiot and move on, I don’t make a forum thread calling Anet out for my own mistake and threatening to no longer support the company.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Well, I guess I better get back to TA and grind up more tokens. You know… since grinding has been “eliminated” from the game…. :P
Wow, so because you messed up and the tokens you got from running the dungeon (at most once or twice, since that’s all you need to do to get any of the rare pieces of armor) got wasted, suddenly everything’s a “grind”?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
It’s misleading as hell. If this was a product from a store, I would be entitled to a lawsuit.
Do you sue Great Value brand every time you buy their corn flakes expecting it to taste like Kellog’s corn flakes?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I expect a refund of either my tokens and stone, or fix my armor’s appearance.
They don’t do stuff like that, nor do I feel that you’re entitled to it. You bought what you previewed. I really don’t know why you would use your tokens even after seeing that it was just the cabalist set, it seems kind of obvious. While I do agree that they should change at least the icons for it, what I see here is user error, plain and simple.
I bought nightmare armor. I didn’t think they’d honestly have that garbage for sale at dungeon traders. It’s not obvious, at all. I have thought the previews were glitching for months, especially when they talked about working on the preview system.
I somehow knew someone would be in here talking about my entitlement. rolleyes
I bought nightmare armor, I did not receive nightmare armor. I received cabalist armor. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
I didn’t talk about a sense of entitlement that you may or may not have, I simply used the word in a sentence, similar to being owed, ya know?
And your logic isn’t correct because you didn’t buy the nightmare armor skin. Last time I checked, the actual exotic armor skins are around 6x the token price of the rare versions.

This has been suggested many times already, and personally, I don’t agree with race change. I and many others feel that if you didn’t realize you didn’t like the race you’re playing by the time you’re level 15 or so then that’s your fault. Adding such a feature in would effectively destroy the alt concept, which would cause starter zones to be almost empty.
As for your second question, no that’s not how it works. The only way currently to bring armor/weapons to an account bound state is by using the “transmute to white gear” method, and this is only useful for getting the skin.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
+1 I like this idea.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
+1 New and fun content is never a bad idea.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Oh look, its one of those threads.
Nah, I disagree on with almost everything you said there.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
The Commander icon means nothing more than that the person who has it had more Gold than common sense.
False. While I may not like to see it in PVE, there are some really good commanders out there who deserve to be recognized and followed, this is aided by the icon.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
You’re confused, the star next to the persons name means they have finished map completion. The commander icon is the blue arrow that shows above their head.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
So why is this in the thief forum again?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Yes, thanks Anet for your continued bug fixes. I remember when you fixed the clipping issues on daggers for human T3 armor and that was a huge relief, brought on feelings rivaling finishing the clock tower even.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Thanks a lot man, I’ve been waiting to get back on to Tarnished Coast for about 3 weeks now!
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I’ve been playing since release and I’m finding achieving lvl 80 to be too treadmilly for me… let alone ascended armor. I’ll probably never put any cash into the gem shop.
Are you kidding me? Please tell me you’re trolling.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
+1, This sounds like an awesome idea.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
It’s a bug concerning the Ogre Pet Whistle.
Ahh, okay, now it makes sense.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Im going to take a shot in the dark and say there players, which is why you have the UI off
Perhaps you should’ve turned the light on first.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
So what’s with all of the animals gathering outside of the bank in Lions Arch. How long have they been there for?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
What do people do about the gear/cultural armor they already have that a different class cant use?
Its plain to see you don’t want to hear anything that goes against your idea so I’m just going to stop posting now. If you want to level really quick, use crafting. I see no reason for this to be implemented and this would cheapen the whole leveling and alt experience.
I have never heard of an MMORPG that allows this and I have no inclination to see it happen here, regardless of Anet’s new and revolutionary take on things.

It’s just after WvW reset, of course it’s full.
I’ve been trying to switch back for weeks now, seems like TC is always full nowadays.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I care because there’s already an overwhelming amount of people in WvW who don’t know how to play their class, adding this in would make it 10x worse.
You didn’t address the equipment issues either. It’s a lot more then just a simple cash shop item.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
(a true pain since there is no people in pve anymore and do events is hard and boring alone)
That’s completely false. Please don’t over-exaggerate.
I disagree with the race and class change. If you didn’t figure out by level 20 that you didn’t like your choice, then the fault is your own. The equipment issues are also a major problem and I feel that there are much more things that need to be fixed and added instead of this. Also, the whole point of playing the game and leveling is learning your class as you level up. How can you possibly do that if you’re automatically leveled to 80?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Lol 60%? You crazy.
This would basically make the TP unusable and force people outside of it, increasing the number of scam reports etc.
Not worth it at all.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I wish there was more daggers that have effects but sadly there isn’t very many. I would really like one to go along with my Jormags Breath but i hate the dagger model of the corrupted dagger
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Honestly, if all you want is awesome loot and a gear grind, and from reading your comments, that seems to be the only enjoyment you get from a game, then this probably isn’t the game for you.
Unfortunately, you did what a lot of people, including myself, did and rushed to 80, probably skipping half the content on the way. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I feel like you did this because you were expecting the game to somehow get better after lv80. Once again, this is the wrong game for that. The game was marketed as “endgame starts at lv1” and it has stuck to that quite well.
What I recommend to you is to re-roll an alt, and really take your time going through the game. Play the dungeons not for the loot, but because they’re fun and tell a story. Try and feel that Tyria is alive while you wade through enemies, hacking and slashing them to bits.
I urge you to try that, and if you’re still not feeling it, then that’s okay too. There is plenty of content updates on their way and since there’s no sub fee, ther’s no reason to feel like you should be rushing through content.
(Oh, and if you’re looking for a challenge, roll something other than a warrior. After maining a thief for 4 months, I feel like warrior is ez-mode for PvE)
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
No, once you’re in the server you’re in there for good, there isn’t any queue times. TC is really the only on that’s full all the time except for prime time and WvWvW resets.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
You got 100 hrs out of a game for $60, compared to other games I’d say that’s pretty darn good.
Honestly, I don’t believe you’d ever get back into the game if you already hate it. There’s just no way for them to change it enough to incorporate all players ideas so they’re sticking to their course. It’s best to just move on to another game, Maybe check it out in a few months when they start revamping everything with updates.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
Just go for a very high population one, Tarnished Coast especially if you can find a time that its not full (which is difficult, I’ve been trying).
Tbh, even on Devonas Rest where I am, there’s a bunch of people in Queensdale all the time.
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
And how do you propose you’d get these “actual” drop rates?
I have numbers from before Nov15
But technically, if it’s your own observation, those are perceived drop rates. The only actual data is in the hands of Anet
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
And how do you propose you’d get these “actual” drop rates?
[OHai] – Northern Shiverpeaks
I love it. People with no idea of how the class works posting about how they got stomped and need the class to be nerfed into the ground.
And don’t say it wouldn’t have that effect on it because if you think that then you have no idea how the class works and really shouldn’t be suggesting any changes to it.
