I think you can make your home “server” in the US as long is it isn’t full. You are right if your home “server” you select is EU you cannot guest to a US server and vice versa.
For absolute clarity incase I am off on home server options you might consider contacting support before you make your purchase. This will get you the most accurate answer and will provide you with documentation from Anet should something go wrong:
support.guildwars2.com
“Ask A Question” option top middle menue.
Also if you do guest US server to US server or EU server to EU server you can do PvE but not WvW. Just throwing that in incase you still end up on a different server than your friends.

I don’t know either, but its sure is BORING standing around. Its like they don’t want you to have any fun in the game. They nerf everything that is fun.
There is no reason they can’t announce the times when the fireworks are on.
I think part of it is that it is suppose to be a festival of sorts. The idea is for people to gather and have it somewhat social. It is a good place to meet and talk to other players. I know that isn’t for everyone but there is a large player base that enjoy’s RP since technically this is a role playing game.
I had a decent time waiting for the event. People were talking and joking in /say. People were using those fun boxes. There was all sorts of RP going on and a lot of new players that had questions and I gave away a lot of bags, coin, dragon coffers via mail just to celebrate. For me it was kind of interesting to stroll about the crowd and look at other’s gear and color choices. For many there is more to the game than the basic PvE, PvP, WvW and farming.
So I don’t know if I would go as far as to say Anet is trying to take away the fun in the game. A lot of the fun is what you make of it. Everyone has a different idea of fun and so they try to include enough for everyone.
Happy Dragon Bash!

Yeah when I first started my Mesmer I thought toughness/vitality would be a good idea because I heard how squishy they are at low levels. I was taking agro about 75% of the time. It was as if my clones didn’t exist. I kid you not, I was just standing behind and to the left of another player, not doing anything, nothing active, and they attacked an ettin. It ran right past the other character and attacked me. I gave up on t/v soon after.
I don’t really get this because it would seem that mobs would be more attracted to who was causing them the most damage. I don’t see how they could tell how tough you are just by looking at you.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
My advice is that since we have a whole month, don’t buy the coffers from the trading post right now. Just open the ones you loot and maybe later in the month you can consider buying them if you have had no luck.
Yeah that is what I do and I’ve gotten a decent amount of stuff that way. Almost as much as some who said they bought them, aside from the ticket. I didn’t get that yet, probably won’t
I think I have opened about 300-400. So far:
A ton of candy, didn’t count it all yet but probably over 1,000
6 Mini Holographic Risen Knights
Some potions that when I drink turn into some fire bat, 4 I think
A bunch of fireworks
20 some cakes that look like lobsters
Some other cakes
A Deep cherry dye
Some other stuff I don’t remember.
I farmed or just got from playing so I didn’t keep a good count/list.
I just looked and Amazon free shipping right now I think. But yes depending on where you live it might take longer.
You might be able to gift the download version via Amazon but I’m not sure. Or gift him a digital Amazon gift card for them to use for it.
This video is perfect for this thread. Really it will probably make you smile and it is a GW2 video.
I think he messed up his Moa when he hit it with the Ride The Lightening skill.
Could you buy them the box DVD? I think they have it on Amazon.
What do you get if you get all achievements? I already got some wings and some hats. Do you get something else if you do all the events?
That map (is) shaped like a shade.
( ) = overly agressive language filter.
I ate a bunch of candy real fast and threw up on a Ranger’s pet. Not kidding.
LOL @"Chariots of Fire" perfect song for that.
I had one drop and had to buy one of those teddy bear back pieces off the TP so I could use it.
Have the back piece and the wings in inventory. Double click it and a window will open with the wings. Then drag the regular back piece into the window and click the button. Like others mentioned make sure you don’t accidentally don’t use a back piece that you don’t want changed to wings.
I think I mailed everything out now. If I missed someone or sent an empty mail please let me know. I got hit with the over mail message and might have lost track.
Also there is one other thing I forgot as far as spreading good deeds. Stop by the Players Helping Players from time to time. There is always a lot of good questions and usually a fair amount of new players look for advise. If you are here anyway why not take 5 minutes to see if you can help someone in the other forum.
I see several people from here already posting help there and some have even answered my posts, so thanks.
Once again, happy Dragon Bash!
i would like to say sorry to a.net and to a.net alone for my behavior. i guess i got carried away by my emotions and my inner @holeness. but i don’t care what others think of me after the things that i said anyway so yeah.
i was on the negative side of things. something is better than nothing. thank you, a.net.
I’m glad to see this post. It isn’t often you see apologies on message boards. I’m pleased that you have become less frustrated over the Anet thank you gift. Also I was rather rude to you at times and I’m sorry for that. I too was getting a little frustrated in the thread. Happy Dragon Bash!
As far as I know a race doesn’t really have an affect on the profession like some other games do. The only slight difference I can think of is a little variation in combat/general animations such as what they look like running and such. Well that and the personal stories for each race.
So I suppose it is more what you enjoy as far as the races story line and appearance. As far as profession, that again depends on your gaming preference such as combat style, where it is PvE, PvP, WvW you like best and so forth.
Personally I don’t like Asura or Charr. Asura in my opinion are just too small and easy to get lost in the mix. I don’t like Charr for their running animation and the way their claws stick out of their boots.
So given that I would suggest simply playing a race/profession combo you have not tired before or didn’t play for very long.
I hope you find the combination that you will enjoy.
They just raised the health of holos.
My armor repairs can attest to that.
Hello,
I’m sorry that you are having problems. Have you submitted a ticket to support yet?
support.guildwars2.com
“Ask A Question” link in the middle of the top menu.
That will be the best way to have your issue resolved. Also please note that you may not get a response right away. So if you submit a ticket don’t submit a second one as this will actually slow down the response. It may take up to 72 hours but is usually much faster.
I hope it works for you soon.

1 FREE DRAGON COFFER!!!!!!! RNG the gift that keeps on giving!!!
Hopefully the RNG spirits will give you something nice.
I’m also sending a mini to a person that posted in this forum that seemed they could use a little cheer. I will not name them but the mail message will say, “Happy Dragon Bash from your fellow friends on the Guild Wars 2 message board!”
I will have them in the mail shortly, probably over the next hour or so as I need dinner. The mail will come from my character named below.
How did I acquire such great treasures you may ask? As a newer player these rapid respawning bandits were not very nice to me. So I busted out my Engineer, Lonnie Wrench, for a little fun with flamethrowers. I still don’t understand how or why a bandit can say, “Ha! Your’e kidding right!?” while its head is engulfed in flames.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I can’t plat Asura or Charr. Asura are too short and too easy to get lost in the mix. Charr I just don’t like the running style and the way their claws stick out from their boots. They look to me like a real ugly cat got mixed with the hunchback of Notre Dame.
I like playing every profession and have one of each. Switching up makes the game more fun for me and less repetitive at times. Unfortunately my Engineer is just so slooooow. unlike many other professions they don’t have a fixed speed buff as in a signet or trait. Since I like to travel around maps on foot it makes things drag at times. Given the recent holo rush, good luck haha. I know there are temp boosts but you basically end up swapping kits non-stop which is a minor pain.
I’ve found all of my alts aside from 2 are female either human or Sylvari. I don’t do this for some kind of creepy role play. I just think they look better animation wise and in armor, especially medium armor which leaves a lot to be desired as it is.
Given that I usually see more female characters than male I’m guessing I’m not alone on this.
Hi,
It looks like your ticket was submitted today. It may take a little bit of time to get a response from support. Hopefully you hear something soon.
Thank you for being a part of the GW2 community and supporting it through gem purchases.
I’m glad to see participation in this thread and the sharing of good ways to make other players smile as they are part of the community as well. There are many good ideas here and I hope we all will have fun practicing them from time to time. Thanks for taking the time to share your ideas.
Honestly this Dragon Bash event has been the most fun I have had since I started playing a few months ago. I like to role play every so often. I have used this event to do so. Every now and then I send a mail to someone I don’t know with a short note like, “I hope you are enjoying Dragon Bash. Have a great day!” and attach maybe some candy or food, sometimes some coin if they are new. I have had a few of those holo minis drop so I hid in Divinity’s Reach, gave a few clues and had a race to find me. I gave the mini to the winner and a little coin to 2nd and 3rd place. I jumped to my death in Divinity’s Reach and stayed there until someone revived me (About 10 minutes LOL). I said thanks and then mailed them some candy “For saving my life.”
It really has enhanced my game experience doing little things like this from time to time. Every now and then I get a mail back saying thanks and I made them smile. That’s great since that was the purpose. I didn’t expect the mail back but it was nice to know I enhanced someone else’s game play if for only a brief time.
Oh and I sent some candy and a few coffers to someone that posted here today that seemed a little unhappy.
All posts in this thread have given great ways to help new players. Let’s not forget that experienced players that have been playing for a long time could use a smile too. I will be giving away another of the holo minis that drop to a lucky person that has posted something positive in this thread. I will assign each poster a number based on the order of their post up to the 40th post not including mine. One number per person. At 7:00 EST I will use http://www.random.org/ to generate the winning number and mail the winner the prize. I know it isn’t much because they are on the TP but just for fun.
Well for PvE I really enjoy my Thief and my Elementals. However, I play less common builds that others don’t recommend. I run my thief pistol/pistol which more or less negates the advantage of stealth. But I can role pretty tough solo through PvE stuff and I brought her up for the first time in a bit today to farm dragon coffers in Bandit camps and with the unload skill 2 it was a bandit massacre. However I’m not going to get many, if any, invites for dungeons.
Same with my Elementalist. I run d/d which limits to closer range attacks. Mostly I do this because I think it looks cool with the electric whips (pretty much the only element I use). Again, used her to farm coffers today and I was tearing through bandit camps. So good PvE solo, at least for me.
My highest is a L54 ranger. I’m not a big fan of it because it just seems slow. Attack with pet, shoot arrows, swap to sword with what I think are choppy mechanics. It’s great for solo PvE, probably better than the others I mentioned. It just seems like a yawn fest to me with no real challenge. Also I have read that a lot of groups are not keen on inviting Rangers into a group but I’m sure that isn’t the norm. I just read that around here a lot.
Really aside from saying that you want for PvE it would be helpful if you shared what style of play you want. Do you want in your face combat or stand back and fight from a distance? Do you like more involved play including more dodging and straffing? Any other details you can share. As you can see from what I shared I like a certain flashy, fast kill style.
Oh and all mine are power/crit builds. Add in some sigils that 20% chance fire burst or lightning on crit and it’s almost like being an Elementalist.
I got the idea for this thread from several observations. The main one being my own behavior in this forum. While I am generally a very kind person, this forum as with many I have been a part of, can bring out my smart kitten side pretty quick. When I stepped back and evaluated that, I came to the conclusion that I was being overly judgmental of others that play the game.
Yes there are a lot of posts I don’t agree with or that I think are just plain ridiculous. However, in real life if I hear someone say something in public that I think is stupid I don’t get into some debate over why I think what they said was wrong. I just go about my business and often think to myself that I hope they have a better day. I don’t care for constant complaining but it really gets too much when I find myself complaining about complaints.
So reflecting on all these posts I have been involved in and, admittedly rude at times, I started thinking about the person on the other side of the screen that I can’t see. I thought about how I felt as I purchased and downloaded the game. How excited I was once the install was complete and when I first made my first character. So then I thought about this other mysterious person living in wherever and I imagined they felt the same as I at one point. I started thinking that this is a real person that wakes up everyday just like me and they want to have a good day which in many cases means enjoying the game.
The thing about the Internet, and I found this out early during the USNET years, is that since you can’t see that person you forget that they have feelings as well. It’s easy to forget that maybe they just had a bad day and an unpleasant gaming experience later in the day was kind of the final straw leading to rage posting on the boards. It’s easy to forget that when they click the login button they want to have fun also. It’s the reason for playing a game and people like to have fun.
So where am I going with this? I thought it would be a good idea to brain storm some random acts of (kindness) in game to maybe make that random person smile for a second, maybe make their day a little better.
Here are a few things I have done:
*When I see a player that is obviously new and low level running around lost, I help them for a minute. Then later on I mail them a few coins and or maybe a piece of armor they could use. I simply write “Welcome to GW2” and attach the coin/item. I imagine as a new player something like that might give them a brief smile.
*If I see a downed player in PvE I rez them and if they are not down leveled I mail them some coin with a note that says, “Thought you could use some coin to help with your repairs.”
*I shadow obvious new players and only jump in if they get in a real dicy situation then disappear and do it again for a bit.
*I’m maxed on cooking skill so when I get low level cooking mats that don’t sell for much I’ll just mail them to some random name I see in my area with a note that says,“I bet you are hungry after all your travels.”
*I haven’t done this yet but I think once a day when I see some negative posts here I’ll just send one of those people that are unhappy some small gift. Something that has been in my bank and I will never use or sell. (Disclaimer: Please don’t start posting negative threads just to have a chance at a prize.
)
Anyway, these are the main things I do but I’m looking for more and hope others will share ideas and participate. The thought isn’t to give your bank away but just some small token of (kindness) that might just make someone think, “That was nice.” even if just for a minute.
tl;dr
I’ve been rather rude here at times and I apologize. I’m really a pretty decent person in real life. I think most here on both sides of arguments are as well. The idea is fun and to some degree I am guessing when everyone logs in each day the idea is to add something pleasant to their day. So let’s help random people out with that.
Please share other ways myself and others might just send our own little “token” to random players as a way of saying in game, “Hope you are having a good day.”
P.S. (kindness) due to overly aggressive language filter.
Throw them on my bed and roll in them naked.
LOL. I’m gonna make it rain!
Now that would make for some interesting RP if you could toss gems up in the air. :P
Thanks everyone for the help and information. I guess when I get back in game I’ll have to map a few extra mouse buttons I don’t use so I can hot swap kits easy as I’m trucking down the road.
Edit: It would be cool if there was an item like a ring that would give a fixed speed buff.
My thoughts are….I am quite enjoying the Dragon Bash Festival, and I feel quite fortunate to have received a Jade Weapon ticket and Holographic Wings the first day…from random drops. Good job, ArenaNet….keep it coming! =)
That’s not fair because I played two days and didn’t get them and I really really wan’t it. Stupid Anet is just trying to keep me from getting something I’m entitled to because it looks cool and I play a lot. Did I mention it isn’t fair because I really really want it and shouldn’t have to play anymore than I have already because I’ve played a lot and they owe me? It’s obviously not random if you got one the first day and I didn’t. :P
So you logged in here just to say you won’t log into the game? o_O
Speedy Kits which you can combo with Invigorating Speed
Good luck being speedy.
EDIT: Sorry this isn’t an item, but I think it suits your needs just fine, if not better.
Thank you for your help. If I am reading it right I will need to keep swapping kits every 5 seconds while I am just trucking down the road?
I took my engineer off the shelf today just for all this fast massive killing going on. Not just holos but farming for dragon coffers where there are a lot of mobs in close areas. People fly in and slaughter them so fast. Flamethrower, problem solved. Not much range but one blast and a strafe and I tag everything in reach and watch them burn. Anything left alive gets straffed/blasted again.
Oh and a p/p thief with 20% chance AOE fire on crit does this pretty well also but with longer reach. Let lose with the unload skill and watch the fireballs light them up.
Tag, you’re it.
Is there some kind of accessory, amulet, ring that provides a fixed speed buff so you have it all the time you are wearing it?
My problem is my engineer is so darn slow. Other professions seem to have a signet or trait that makes them faster when active. The only one I could find for engineer is a master trait and it only gives the 25% while in combat. I don’t really want to throw that many trait points toward that line just for that since I mostly need the increased speed to reduce travel time.
I mostly solo PvE or open world with a few other people. I’m always lagging behind unless someone is constantly giving me some kind of buff. My poor engineer just clunks along weighed down by her backpack. Maybe that is the point I guess
tl;dr
Is there an item I can buy that will at least increase my speed even a little all the time I am using it? I don’t have many of those speed boosters that drop from chests and don’t want to buy keys just for a chance to get more.
Thank you for reading my question and I hope everyone is enjoying the Dragon Bash as much as I am.
It’s nice to see threads like this and it is nice you took the time to show your appreciation. I hope you enjoy your time in GW2.
I buy parsley leaves in bulk. You can find them for sale everywhere so they must be really popular.
Thank you, for some reason that fixed the problem perfectly. Isn’t that strange?
I’m glad it worked for you. It is a rather strange work around. This has been an issue for several people since the last few patches. I find it odd that there has been no discussion about it from the techs. At least there are friendly people around here to share this knowledge.
I’ve cut back on my waypointing to increase my odds of finding one. I’ve found several live ones now just doing my own thing that I normally do. I smile and wave as I see the same 5 people camping the same holo, go on my way exploring and usually find one within a few minutes. They are often in an isolated spot as I’m on my way to a different location. After my last few times calling them in /map now I just look around and if no one else is close or on the way I take it. Then later when I head back to the TP or wherever I came from, I see the same 5 people camping the same holo and wave as I go by again.
This may sound odd but some people have been able to get it to work by changing the language to French finish the download and then back to English. I’m not kidding either it works for some people:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Help-Game-won-t-load-completely
Hope it works for you.
I agree that knowing the odds on purchased RNG crates would make it a bit less shady. I’ve mentioned this in many threads related to the RNG crates. I’ve bought some here and there and just got the basic stuff. Generally I buy them after some other gem store purchase and have a few gems left over. If there isn’t something else I want at the time I’ll pick one up to take a chance. However, it would depend on the odds if I do this again. If it was 1:100,000,000,000 I probably would just save the gems for later.
I’m guessing you are not using the Mac client. “Mac Beta Tech Support Forum” is more like Mac users helping Mac users until they come in once a week or less and randomly close a helpful thread, wave, and say goodbye.
LOL today I saw a holo pop and I was the only one around. So I thought I would be nice and announced it on /map which I did. Someone asked for the nearest WP and by the time I stared to map link it someone ran up and killed it then way pointed out. HAHA
I still announce them when I find them though. The mentality seems to be that they want the achievement done. That’s understandable but there is plenty of time to do it. I’m actually having a good time watching all this madness going around. I’m a little over half way through that achievement just from playing normally and even after people gank the holo from me.
I failed an event and they sent me back to GW1.
Yes if you are new you might consider deleting your characters and moving to a higher population server. Just make sure you put anything you want to keep from your characters in the bank first. I know some of the most highly populated servers had their space expanded just before the Dragon Bash update. I moved to one of the most popular servers and that made me happy.
Also guesting is also an option if you are just doing PvE, you can guest up to 2 servers n a 24 hour period I think. However that just means you can only switch to 2 of the same servers in that time period. You can guest on the same 2 servers in 24 hours even when you log out and back in.
I would suggest you check out Tarnished Coast. It is the unofficial RP server. However in popular zones like Lions Arch you may end up in an overflow server because of the popularity of the new content. That’s the server I’m on and even the overflows are pretty popular these days.
EDIT: Like mentioned above I would recommend the guesting option first until you find a server you like if you are considering the delete character option for the move. Even that doesn’t guarantee you can move there if the server is full. So if you delete you may find you need to move to another server that isn’t full but may not be your first choice.
Welcome to the GW2 community!
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
That is my one complaint about minis, well I have 2. One is the speed of them. I look back and they are half a map a way, okay a little exaggeration. I don’t see why they can’t be like ranger pets and keep up with you aside from they have tiny legs
The other is that when you switch zones they have to be activated again via the inventory. Other than that I like them.
i don’t intend to be rude. i’m not even a whiner. this is the only time that i whined bigtime in the forums coz i received 3 useless green account bound minis for financially supporting the game within 10 months.
Okay I’m going to try this one more time. If the gifts had not been sent at all which would mean this thread didn’t exist would you be complaining? Where were you yesterday complaining that you didn’t get some cool gifts after buying gems?
Really, just look at this thread and others in the sub forums. The response is almost entirely positive.
I have spend A LOT and I mean A LOT of money with a certain computer company because I love their products. I never once have expected some kind of free gift from them. If they sent me a mouse pad with a thank you note I’d probably just smile. I don’t even use a mouse pad but it’s one of those things where I would probably think it is nice that they took the steps to recognize me as a customer. I certainly wouldn’t call them up complaining about them sending me free mouse pad.
Thanks to my now ex-girlfriend I also spent a lot of money with a major jewelry store chain. Once I got a nice hand written note from the sales rep that usually helps me. I wasn’t upset because they didn’t give me some free jewelry. I just thought it was nice she took the time to hand write a rather nice note.
I’m not mentioning my purchases just to say hey look at all the money I toss around. It’s more to demonstrate the point that spending money should not lead to feeling entitled to receive some great gift.
Also if they gave some amazing whatever it is you think you deserve as a gift to everyone even if they only bought 150 gems then people’s heads would start exploding because they spent more than the guy that posted above them. They would be complaining that it isn’t fair for one person who spent less to get the same reward because they have been playing since beta and spent more money.
Now I can somewhat see a complaint if from the start the gem store had a sign that said something like, “Buy X Amount Of Gems and Get a Free Gift” but even that is marginal. I’ve seen these promotions in real life stores and the gift is usually junk.
It’s one of those things where it truly is the thought that counts. Just having a large company take the time to send a simple “Thanks” is something you don’t see that often.
So this is my last response to you regarding this. Go ahead and keep bashing your head into the forum all you want because you don’t like a gift that was given to you.
Yes it is an odd fix but has been working for a lot of people with the same problem since the last few patches. The first time I saw the fix was a customer in the “Mac Beta Client Tech Support Forum” who said he was messing around with stuff and that was what fixed it. Since then the knowledge has been shared for both OSX and Windows users so it’s good it works for both.
Yeah, some people are impatient and have to do everything within 24 hrs of the release of new content, then spend the rest of the month complaining there’s nothing to do.
Did you notice when the SS update happened, how soon people started showing up wearing the flower/tentacle backpacks? I saw some within 24 hours of the patch going live. Likewise you’ll see people getting the title and whatever rewards for doing 10/14 achievements, when the other 4 can’t even be completed until the next patch happens.
Myself, I’m not in such a hurry. I wandered around Lion’s Arch for an hour or two while waiting for the dailies to reset, smashed about 50 pinatas and ate some candy, set off 50 fireworks… only thing I completed was to talk to the eight captains.
I don’t even know what the achievements are yet aside from apparently camping holos
I am pretty sure I even saw a warrior try to kill a little kid in Beetleton LOL
Edited because the low level map farming has inhibited things for new players.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
Some people are seriously just rude and feel entitled. What ungrateful little children some people can be lol. I’m glad they sent out these, I didn’t expect it but was very happy. Now I think I might use all my gem cards to wallpaper my sons bedroom…
I’m gonna buy some gems to buy some gold to buy some minis from the TP and then mail them to some people so they can have more to gripe about
Head to a super dead server, then find areas people cannot stand. Win.
Keep your guesting to low servers and you should be ok, I seen the zergs as well but most people I met waited for me or vice versa. Can’t promise that happens everywhere but on TC and most on BG were really nice.
Oh it wasn’t a complaint but more of an observation of something I had not seen before. I already found my secret farm. Also as I said it is making map completion a breeze.
I’m not concerned about the holos. I’ll get those as I play the game.
I get plenty of coffers from mobs.
