My boyfriend stopped playing guildwars 2 for 2 years. As the password requirement involves having a “special character” in it, he cannot remember what it is.
He also does not have the serial number of his digital purchase as it was 2 years ago and he deletes old emails.
he submitted a ticket earlier today about forgetting his password, however he received an inappropriate response stating that they can’t help him access his account, no explanation given AT ALL.
There is no other way, other than through tickets, to get customer support. He paid 60$ and did not play for more than a week.
This is a very simple matter and customer support should be able to resolve the matter in a few minutes, not respond in a completely unhelpful manner.
He also does not remember which email he used to sign up, as he has 2 emails he uses for games, so that might be why support is not helping him, however that info should be included in the response.
Please help.
It sounds like your boyfriend has little to no information related to his account including the email he used to register. Some information about the account is required in order to confirm ownership of the account for security reasons. One can’t just contact support and say, “I forgot everything about my account please let me change my password,” for obvious reasons.
If your boyfriend can recall more information related to his account he should respond to the message he got from support. If anything he should respond asking exactly what information they require to verify his account.
Side note: He may be tempted to submit another ticket. Please discourage him from doing so as duplicate tickets slow response time. Just have him respond to the email he received from support.

NOT ment to say 2000, meant to say 200…..
200 players crammed in a small house would just be a big blob that no one could make sense of. Perhaps a guild hall would be more suitable for what you describe. Also, how long before those house parties became old and boring? You can only dance, spam emotes, and stand around in a confined space for so long before it gets old. I just don’t see such a thing having lasting quality. Even though a dumbed down version of The Sims is nothing I’m interested in I’m not against the idea for those that want it. I just think it belongs way, way, way, way down the list of things to do.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
and I can ask what’s the point of legendary weapon when I can just get an ascended one
At least with a legendary or any other weapon and armor for that matter it is with you everywhere you go. A house you have to stand around in to appreciate. I’m sorry but I don’t see much long term value in that and at this point I’d rather not see resources dedicated to such a thing. Maybe later, much later once more parts of the game have been improved. Then maybe they will give your your house to stand around in for 5 minutes before you get bored.
-snip-
Well to be fair the housing system of Wildstar looked pretty beast.
We already have a home instance, might as wel make it more interesting than it is now.
Well, what’s the long term value of it though? You decorate it, make it look whatever, and then what? Are you going to stand around in your house looking at your pictures?
I’m not a big fan of player housing simply because I don’t care to see resources dedicated to it at this time when there is so much more that needs to be done. While some may like player housing I don’t see the point. So you get your little house, decorate it, basically play a dumbed down version of The Sims, then what?
> Whisper to someone on friends list
“Hey buddy, come check out my house.”
“I’m a bit busy working on my legendary, maybe later”
“No really come check it out.”
“Sigh, okay”
> Friend walks in and looks around
“Cool story bro. I have to go now.”
> Player with the house stands around looking at his beds and pictures or whatever, then what?
If it were a separate team working on it or there were not such a need for other things like new dungeons, new permanent zones, new PvP maps and so forth, then go for it. Until then I wouldn’t like to see it a priority because IMO housing has very limited use and even less long term value.
Wouldn’t a new race also mean a new permanent city for that race plus zones? I don’t see that happening during a standard living story update.
Look at one of your characters that has a great sword or staff from the side. See how it floats off the back of your character. They float to avoid clipping and even then with some armors they still clip. That is why capes won’t work. Well I guess they would work if they floated them even more than that and then floated back placed items even further than that. Imagine how that would look from the side. LOL

The “BUY” button is large, highly visible and placed in a good spot where one would have to intentionally click it unless they are careless and click happy. I’m sorry but I am anti-confirmation messages when it comes to things like this. If you move your mouse over that far and click it, then well, you bought it. If you didn’t want it, too bad. You just learned a lesson.

This must be something exclusive to the American servers because i’ve never experienced this at all on the EU servers, and i’ve been playing since the 3 day headstart.
I don’t think it is based on region. It is just a few people looking for something to complain about for the sake of complaining. They call it making mountains out of molehills. Heaven forbid there be a small blue icon on a map a player can choose to ignore if they want to.
I almost wonder if the people complaining are the ones that flock to the first blue icon they see because they don’t know what they are doing. Then when they see it is a commander not doing what they thought they come here to QQ. I know from my experience I have learned where to find the commander tag worth following and which to ignore. It isn’t really rocket science.
That said, I do support an option to allow players to turn commander tags off. That way those that freak out over a small blue icon on a map won’t have to see it.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I’m happy for you, Trogdor. I’m also quite sure that if you volunteered to pay all of those people’s bills instead of them learning how to do it themselves they’d be all for it and you would be very popular, but does that mean it’s a good thing? I don’t think it does and appeals to popularity in defense of a certain type of activity are always irrelevant.
And since when do new players need to be led around on some sort of “map tour”? The very idea of such a thing is ridiculous. Did YOU need to be led around by your little nose on a map tour or does it just feel good to lead others around by theirs?
It’s an MMO and it’s called helping other players that are interested in a joining a community to you know, have fun. These events are a lot of fun for everyone involved and usually involve great chat while more experienced players share tips with newer ones. I’m not the only one that does this and when events like this are held they are usually very popular. That should tell you something.
Hey, I’m sorry to see such things are so offensive to you. As you said you have almost quit playing entirely due to PvE commander tags. If little things such as this get under your skin so easily perhaps it is best you just quit all together.
If you end up not quitting over PvE commanders and people helping each other in organized events let me know next time you decide to roll an alt. Send me a PM and if the timing works out I’ll invite you on my next tour.
I’ve done map tours lead by a commander, it’s actually a lot of fun when you’re in the mood for that. Especially if you have 8 level 80s and it’s a map you’ve done so many times the very thought of doing it again is tiring.
So true and it is a lot of fun.

If Anet does decide to add a race change option in the future by the time they do so you could probably create a few new characters, level them up, and gear them up by then. So just roll a new one.
P.S.
Attachments:
10-15 gold a day putting in about a half hour work TP trading. Another 5-10 gold a day playing the game for an hour or two depending on drops and such. But I don’t play or trade every day.
Well apparently there is a Mac specialist with Anet now:
Perhaps they will have an answer sometime in the near future. It’s been almost a month since that was announced so I’m patiently waiting to hear from this person in this forum.
This is a known bug for a long time now. It doesn’t happen to me as often as you but the only way I know to deal with it is to open the graphics options and slide the gamma button a bit. That usually fixes it.
Cases of mischievous kids, brothers, sisters, friends, co-workers and so forth deleting things from your account will not result in a favorable result. Unless you were hacked and it doesn’t sound like you were, you are probably out of luck. It is your responsibility to secure your account from others in your household.
I didn’t see anything about this so I’m going to write it down because I have never notice this before so if anyone today buys deluxe they get the Primeval sets armor(or any other type)?! When the game come out, I buy it with the deluxe that comes with bank, wolf etc… So I’m sure I’m not the only one that will feel bit unfair, that people now can get more out of it than the people who buy it when game was release?!
When you bought your version did it say that it came with all future upgrades? If you answered “no” stop here. Also would you be willing to roll back your account from all the hours you have gotten to play since release and erase everything just to get the items in the current version?
Hmmm… has anyone tried using this right before the mini dolyak race in the Festival of the Four Winds? I’d be curious to see the results of that.
Yes it works.
My problem with scythes and polearms being the same is this: if they make one of the professions throw the polearm, and polearms have warscythe skins, that’s going to look really silly OR they’re going to limit who can use polearms more than I’d like. I suppose they could do scythes as polearms if they made it like, let’s just use this as a simple example, necros have an animation similar to their staff that gets that shadowy/scythe animation, and be able to use it in melee range.
I think you are in the wrong thread.
This post is more for further use, when the team has more time to work on these kinds of things, see my point’?
Oh, I wasn’t trying to be confrontational. I just wanted to share my opinion on the matter. I can see where some people would enjoy it for RP and what not. I just don’t think player housing has longterm value. I feel the same way about SAB. It is very popular for a limited time but it isn’t really GW2. While I hope they do bring it back at some point for the people that enjoy it and make it permanent, I don’t care to see resources dedicated to it.

I don’t mess with them myself but I found this thread that might give you some ideas. It is a list of songs and what keys to press to play them or something like that.

This whole poll thing is cute. Cupcakes and soda after the poll closes.
Do you know if I need to have to give my GW2 account login to answer this poll?
I don’t think you do. But…..

You people are sooooo impatient. The forum filter has only been broken for 11 months! That’s way too soon obviously to worry about it. It will be fixed any minute now! Or maybe any decade, whichever comes last.
(Sigh)
It is obvious at this point Anet doesn’t care and or they have no idea how to fix the search function. It’s a big fat blemish that I find odd they refuse to address.
Imagine a potential customer that decides to visit the forum and check out what is going on. They see the search feature totally busted. I don’t think that would provide a very good first impression.
Maybe it is just me, but if I was running the GW2 show I’d be furious that the official GW2 forum is so broken.

I’m running out of colourful ways to say no to every mount thread there is…
It’s no coincidence that pretty much every gold-making farm in the game has been nerfed.
I’ve gone from making 15g/h to nothing.
That’s funny you should say that since you were such a fan of the Queensdale train nerf.

Vol.7601:As a former hardcore farmer, this is the best change Anet had made in a long time.
They should have done it sooner, but it’s done.If you were farming Queensdale for gold, you’re playing the whole game wrong.
Some people did especially before it got nerfed the first time. I never really farmed the train often aside for doing events for daily/monthly every now and then. However, it was a farm spot to many for various reasons. It’s never a good idea to start cheering on nerfs because it seems game developers like to get a little nerf happy once they get started.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I am sure Vol is not refering to the Queensdale champ train in terms of his gold loss from farming. Go ahead and search the forum for his gold making guide, you are misinformed. He was doing his rounds at Orr.
I’m not misinformed, I read his guide and know where he was farming. That wasn’t my point. In this thread his complaint is that every gold-making farm got nerfed. That is a fair statement but hypocritical to complain about it while cheering on the nerfing of other gold farming of spots.

For those of you that don’t want to spend money on gems, you should be encouraging others to buy gold with gems. That way your gold to gem cost goes down. Anet advertising gems to gold conversions only helps you. The more people that buy gold with gems the less it costs you to convert gold to gems.
werent they talking about the permanent mystery tonics? the ones that cost 400g – 1000g now? if not then i feel dumb.
No they were talking about those dime a dozen mystery tonics that almost always dropped from opening a BLC. The ones I have in spades and never use.
Yeah, I don’t get this item. It isn’t that costly or difficult just to change over to the craft you want by visiting the NPC. Hopefully they don’t raise the cost of switching to sell this item.
Personally, I always thought all crafts a character has learned should just be available anyway since you don’t lose progress when switching. It’s a gold sink I guess but I don’t swap around that much anyway.
I’m a fan of the other connivence items and have all of them but I’ll pass on this one. I can’t imagine it will be a very popular item.

the refund for the game purchased from the website
Start here: https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
By the time GW3 rolls around, if it ever does, most of you will have moved on in life and found there is much more to happiness aside from video games. The GW3 crowd will consist of youngsters that have not figured it out yet. Then they will post in the GW3 forum about what happens with GW4. :P
By then you will be telling your kids, “Stop spending all your time playing that darn video game! I won’t buy you a gem card until you mow the lawn!” HAHA

Did you know they actually pay you real money to duel in WS? They deposit money in a paypal account for accepting and give you free 7 day trials for declining. It’s amazing!
I don’t know much about WS aside from it looks like an amped up version of Earthworm Jim made into an MMO. However, I’m certain you are just being facetious. Either way it seems you found your niche. Now, have fun with that. There is no need for you to keep going on and on about dueling in GW2, you obviously found your home in WS. It seems to have what you want.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
The only time i’ve heard people complain about duel based harassment are in games that don’t even have duels. You can find these threads for GW2 and ESO. I never heard anyone complain about duels in games that actually have duels.
Perhaps it has to do with people that enjoy PvE dueling are attracted to games that have that as a feature. Given that, they are used to the things negative and positive that are onboard with such a system and have less to complain about. Obviously, people that play games without PvE dueling have a right to defend against it. Maybe some of the anti-dueling crowd gravitated to games without it due to their experiences in games that had dueling.
Edit: Because the point below is what I’m talking about:
Now however I just avoid any game that has open world dueling instead searching out games that either don’t have it or segregate it to a designated area.
See, it works both ways.
As stated before, harassment isn’t my number one issue. I can deal with kids that want to act like tools. However, I have other issues with open world PvE that I have stated many times.
I have a hard time believing people picked up GW2 because it didn’t have duels. Games don’t usually advertise based on the features they lack…haha.
I’m sure Lanfear will post a link to contradict me, but i can’t recall any MMOs that actually use dueling as a selling point. It’s typically something that is just there (or sometimes not there). I’m sure people enjoyed this game first and then appreciated that duels weren’t here.
Well maybe they didn’t pick the game just because there are no duels, but perhaps it was a bit of a selling point. I know it was something I found attractive when I decided to buy GW2. Just like Wildstar, it has duels and I’m sure that has been somewhat of a selling point for people like yourself.
I think it is clear that a significant portion of the community, at least on the forums, is fine with no PvE dueling, I stress the forum community not everyone. While not necessarily indicative of the entire GW2 community, I think that says something.
I look forward to your future Wildstar reports though as I’m sure they will not be biased and have nothing to do with your pro-dueling agenda. :P

Ele if you are more PvE oriented especially with group content and dungeons. But hey, check out Mesmer too. They are a ton of fun, at least to me, and very versatile in all aspects of the game.
Scrambles of course you are a bit biased (to say the least) and have an agenda to support so how do we know you will provide reliable data? While not really possible we would need a larger sample from players that are neutral on the position in order to receive more reliable information. But hey if you want to go ahead with your “project” good for you I guess.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I wonder how reactions would be if that was a girl asking for a guy around :P
Many that posted in this thread would be signing up saying, “Look for me!” LOL
Anet took the the middle ground here making them account bound instead of soul bound. I think that was fair. Prior to the change you had to buy them for each character. In exchange they refunded a ton of gems to people with duplicates and costing them money. If you want the convenience of not having to bank them on character swap then buy one for each character (when they are available again). I think the current system is fair.
No I am not sure if they are porting the windows client( which adds its own set of hiccups) or if they are writing new code, I suspect the the first.
It is a port through TransGaming.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-guild-wars-2-for-mac-beta/
To bring Guild Wars 2 to the Mac, ArenaNet worked with our partners at TransGaming, whose Cider technology allows us to mirror the game experience as closely as possible between the PC and Mac
By the way what is your suggested fix aside from recommending Macs be within the suggested specs? Most of us here already do that.
P.S. I hear you on TESO. I tried it for a few days and ended up getting a refund.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I know my PC is bad and I have the default graphic card inside but I played alot of games before and never had such bad FPS.
You answered your own question. Your PC is bad. All those other games you played might not have been as intensive as GW2.

I have two alts that turned year one a few weeks ago or so. Due to how bad the year one birthday gift was I have not even bothered to log in to them to get the gifts since I won’t use them. Let’s hope year two is better than “meh..”
Closing in on well over 12 months and the search function is still busted to pieces. I’m starting to wonder if they know how to fix it. Wait, if they did they would then it would be fixed. It would be nice to hear from someone from ANet to let us know what is going on.
Given that, I think it is time they toss a Google Search box up there and call it a day.
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
It looks like custom soundtracks are still unavailable on the Mac client. I tried creating relevant .m3u playlists of .mp3 files for a few categories, but none would play.
Previous posts said to place the playlist files in /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2 in the Music folder. Upon accessing the second Guild Wars 2 folder I saw that there was no Music folder and, unsurprisingly, creating one and putting the playlists in there didn’t work.
I’ve attached a screenshot of my system report, but it seems like it’s not likely an issue I’m alone in experiencing.
That’s probably because (and I haven’t confirmed this) an external process (that’s present in the average Windows install, but not present inherently in a Cider/Wine install) is what is called by GW2 to queue up the MP3’s?
Nope it used to work. I wrote a whole tutorial on how to make custom playlists for Mac but I’m too lazy to look that post up. I have not tried it in awhile but I ran custom playlist for months from about April 2013 to October 2013. I stopped using it after that because it was easier to just run iTunes in the background and rock out
. If it doesn’t work now it most likely has to do with some of the updates they have done to the Mac client over the last few months.

The fact that one outlier method has been taken away from someone does not limit their choices that much. Oh they took away crafting as a way to get to 80. Well, guess what, it wasn’t intended to allow you to do that. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t tons of other alternatives. Just the outlier ones are being restricted.
You seem to have changed your mind in a month.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Playing-without-doing-Dungeons/first#post3879617
But you can make the same or more running the champ train and you’re not “stuck” in a dungeon. You can always try a couple and see if you like it. If you do, I suggest watching video first so you can at least know what to expect.
How do you make good money on a Champ train. Don’t they only give a few silver each? I guess the gear you get nets a bit more, or maybe I’m running the wrong train?
Salvage and sell my friend. If you do the Frostgorge Sound champ train, you can make average 7-8g per hour (sometimes little less, sometimes more). Personally, I salvage all except exotics worth 1g or more. you get lots of T6 mats, and with salvage, you’ll get lots of silk. You get lots of blues and greens as drops. You also get dropped silver plus whatever silver you get in the champ bags/boxes. If I do the champ train Saturday and Sunday morning for a few hours I will net about 50g.
Ahh cool. That’s where I’m going wrong then. I’m still leveling all Crafting so I always just deposit all to my collection where ever I go.
Thanks, I will do Frostgorge soon. I’ve been running the Queensdale one.
Ha ha. On my level 80 of course. I always level up the right way
But you shouldn’t have been running the train at all. According to some it was a toxic mindless zerg that has been the bane of every new player in the game. You should have been earning gold and mats by doing dungeons, exploring, WvW, and world events, that’s the right way. See how that works?
(edited by JustTrogdor.7892)
I don’t see anything wrong with Lankybrit’s statements.
Just because you think the QD train was a bad thing in the game doesn’t mean you’re somehow bad for doing it. I think that adding Ascended gear was bad, but I’m still getting it for my characters.
It’s about the inconsistency. “People shouldn’t do trains they should do x,y,z.” Yet he does the train.
