Outfits: How ANet is missing out on sales

I might be an outlier, but I really like the outfits. They’re so convenient and I like how I can change my armor and level my characters without having to use transmutation crystals for every piece to make them look good, lol. It would be kind of cool if they could separate the outfits into armor pieces and make it an option to use those pieces as armor skins or use the whole set as an outfit too, though.

Ew… no thanks. Most female mammals don’t really develop “breasts” in the sense of huge lumps unless they’re pregnant anyways. Even then, they’re not really like human breasts. Not to mention asura are sort of child-like, and so adding sexual perephenelia to them would be more distasteful than anything. Of course, that’s just my own opinion and I’m not trying to speak for anyone else when I say that.

Just experienced that today. Had a DH who continously pushed far, and dragged our the mesmer, and the druid to come help him. While we got dominated at mid. He musta died 3 times before he finally captured it with Druid, and Chrono helping him afterwards. Game was only close becuase they never went for our home but if they had I am sure they would’ve crushed us sooner.

Pls .. if you see going far is not working then regroup, and focus mid people.

I was in this match. It was so sad.

But in the next match I was put with that same guardian and we managed to convince him to not mindlessly rush far the whole match and we won. So some people CAN learn new tricks.

(It’s too bad that he couldn’t learn before the end of that first match though.)

Druids are pretty good at ranged combat. And in pvp if one of your teammates goes down in the middle of the fray you can use the shout “Search and Rescue” to teleport him to you so you can res him quickly without having to go into melee range. In my opinion, they are hands-down the best ranged profession.

Idk if it’s just me, but after changing my character’s hairstyle I noticed that it became extremely reflective. In my character select screen it looks good, but once I log in and look at my hero panel and my character in game, it’s a lot more reflective. Is this intended?

His hair is supposed to be dark red, and I could understand if it was a little shiny, but idk… Does anyone else think this is a bit too shiny? _

It seems to be this way on most dark colors with this hairstyle, too. Whites and blondes seem to look fine to me, though. Is there a chance the reflectiveness could be toned down a bit here? It’s so hard to look at like this. XD

It’s actually been like that for a while now, it’s just more noticeable now that these really popular professions fell out of the meta.

Necros and rangers had this treatment for a long time, but now warriors and thieves have taken their place as the ’worst professions 2.0."

That’s definitely not to say it’s right though, it would be nice if everyone could be more civil, but you kind of have to imagine what the lifestyles of people that act this way are like (and then feel sorry for them, lol).

My advice to you would be to keep in mind that there is some truth in what they’re saying, because thieves AND warriors really are at the bottom in terms of profession balance at the moment, and you would have an easier time on othe professions. However, that doesn’t mean you should feel forced to switch if you’re still enjoying your thief, especially if you’re just solo q’ing.

Anyone who doesn’t run a full-premade takes the chance that the solos they get put with could be on ANY profession and playing ANY build, so if these players wanted something other than a thief on their team so badly, they should have found someone else to team up with ahead of time.

This just shows that there are too many entitled brats in the game, lol. They must be thinking “this is my world and you just live in it.”

How to attract PvE players to PvP?

in PvP

Posted by: Kako.1930

Kako.1930

I would be more attracted to PVP (as a previous pvper who has since pretty much given it up out of lack of enjoyment) if the following were done:

1. Balance around 1 v 1 instead of 5 v 5 (thus making solo queue less painful).
2. Implement dueling.
3. Bring back solo queue and get rid of pug vs premade.
4. Create new game modes that make it possible to play with friends but not a requirement, and once again, doesn’t put full premades against pugs.

All-in-all, I’m more of a solo/casual gamer and would be more attracted to pvp if they didn’t blatantly discourage solo play. Not only is the balance so terrible that you’ll get called a troll for simply PLAYING a warrior or a thief, but then they have the nerve to put a bunch of completely random solo players against a full premade team with the perfect pug-stomping comp, and with the game only being balanced around 5 v 5, having a non-perfect composition AND being pugs means we’re only farming materials for the premades.

If pvp were to appeal to all audiences instead of just the elite few premade teams, it would be a lot more fun and popular in my opinion.

Condi necro and diamond skin ele.

in PvP

Posted by: Kako.1930

Kako.1930

This game pretty much demands that you are in a 5-man premade team, and is balanced around 5 v 5 only. That means that we have to give up on any ideas of dueling being balanced, or having a chance as a pug unless something changes.

Account visibility/location- against stalkers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kako.1930

Customer support will ban anyone who has a terminated account if they please. Present your case to CS. If he keep showing up with a different account, CS will basically put him on autoban each time you submit a request.

Otherwise maybe you can switch territories so you can’t physically see his character.

Unfortunately, with megaservers in place, even changing servers doesn’t do anything in terms of avoiding someone from the same region (NA, EU, etc.) as you. One would have to change from NA to EU in order to be in a completely different population, which isn’t possible. :/

That’s what Kako meant by changing territories. It is very possible to transfer to a different region (either NA or EU); you do so at the character select screen in the same window you’d use to change servers. In the upper right side of the server select window is a drop down where you choose All, America, or Europe, and you can choose an EU or US server to transfer to. You’d obviously have to pay the gems to transfer, though.

I paid the gems to change the names of all of my level 80 characters, which was 800 gems a pop, then paid for the entire game all over again just to create a new account lol. I wouldn’t have hesitated to pay the fee to transfer to EU if I knew it was possible back then, and thought there was a chance I could get rid of that guy. Do you happen to know if transferring from NA to EU keeps your friends from EU in your contacts list or resets it to being EU-only? It would be a nice perk if you could just be taken off everyone’s friend’s list from NA and start fresh in EU.

With my luck back then, he would have probably found out I was playing in EU and transferred just to continue harassing me, though. Some people will seriously stop at nothing, I swear. :/

Last time I’ve checked blocking someone would still allow them to see if you are online and where you are via their Contact list.
I get that the worlds are now instanced and all, but all it takes is for the stalker to tell someone else (and its not like he does not have any other friends) a convenient lie and that other person can end up partying with us and voila – you know exact instance we’re in and they can port the creep over.
Also, even if you change your Contact status as “invisible” people are still being informed when you are logging in.
Those things make the block feature not good, as it severely lacking.

Just block the person, you can’t recive the whispers or see any sort of chat from that person. Just knowing on which map you are doesn’t mean he will get in the same istance of the map.
Block System works good enough. I’d rather have ANet invest their work into something more lucrative to everyone than build this stealth system you wish for.

I don’t believe that this change would require much work really. Granted, I am not a coder/programmer, but it appears like everything that would be required is practically there, as you can set yourself to an invisible status, it just could use a few tweaks.
Frankly, making the Contact invisible status carry over to all characters and preventing the “character has come online” information as long as it is selected would fix majority of stalking problems without preventing us from playing.

based on what OP and you suggest, the stalker is reading this thread already and knows they’re going to play the game again. nothing’s going to change much now eh? even if A.net adds 10k more layers of privacy features.
i think you might be over-exaggerating it and the options to block people or be invisible to others works just fine.

Even if he is reading this, if we could go “off the grid” and stay invisible he still would be unable to track us down via any means offered by game itself. That would be more than enough.

As some people already said it – it is one thing for a stalker to follow us using other means, and if he is trully creative he will probably find a way. But is a completely another thing if Anet offers the tools to him. Personal privacy settings at the moment make Anet appear either really naive or with no consideration to people who were unlucky enough to experience cyber stalking.

About going to Support to ask for account and character name change – no one who has already posted about cyberstalking problem got Anet to do that for their account only, so I have gotten discouraged as I would require to have that change made for 2 accounts – my and my niece’s.

The only way I got them to do it was by telling them my account name had my real name in it, but even then, the account name change didn’t work. It appeared changed to me but would switch between my old and my new account name to the people on my friends list, usually appearing as my old account name still. I also paid to have the names of my level 80 characters changed, which only served to backfire on me because my account name change didn’t work.

In the end, the only way to avoid being stalked in GW2 is to create a new account entirely. I lost a bunch of characters with 100% exploration and level 500 crafting professions, ascended light armor set with light of dwayna, and a ton of account-bound sentimental things like the minis a friend had gifted me and the selfless potion, champion magus/phantom pvp titles with legendary champion title, plus all the birthday gifts I would have gotten from my 3 year-old charactes.

That happened about a year ago so I’ve managed to get a lot of the things I lost all over again, but it’s still not the same as the originals.

Account visibility/location- against stalkers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kako.1930

Kako.1930

Some of the things my stalker did included:

1. Paying others to send messages to me via mail/pms.
2. Finding me on every map and following me around, jumping up and down on my character whenever I stopped to let me know he sees me. (He couldn’t message me directly because I blocked him).
3. Telling people around me lies about me to try to get them to either question me or try to help him get through to me somehow. (He would tell them some sort of sad story that made them feel sorry for him and try to get them to try to convince me to talk to him).

This went on for WEEKS! Keep in mind that these people can be really extreme, and this was one of those times. I reported it to arenanet and asked to have my account name changed, which I did, but for some reason it only appeared changed to me and everyone else saw my old account name so he was able to continue harassing me for another week or two after that before I finally just created a new account altogether.

I tried appearing offline, but you can’t do anything involving parties or communicate with friends while appearing offline and as soon as I changed my status to online to try to talk to my friends he would find me. He seemed to be online 24/7 and completely obsessed with finding me at all times.

I know it’s hard to believe, but things like this happen and something that would help would be a change as simple as making you always appear offline to people you block and not sharing your location with people who you blocked. It might not fix the problem entirely, but it would help with the following issue and make it so they can’t always know when you’re online and where you are whenever you play.

Edit: This was someone who was also stalking me IN REAL LIFE and calling me at work over 20 times a day, and he also had some women call me at work to try to trick me into talking to him. My co-workers and I wrote down the time that he called me every single day for about a week to get a restraining order put against him and report him to the police.

It took me moving to a new home, getting a new job, changing my phone number, and creating a new account before I finally got rid of him, that’s how bad it was. The in-game problems were only a sliver of the problem, lol.

Lol, that just reminds me of the toddler’s rules of possession. Some people just don’t grow up.

I agree with what has already been said: you have just as much right to kill those ambient creatures as anyone else. You should obviously try really hard to find places that aren’t filled with other players who were already farming them before you, but if you’ve already tried and can’t find anywhere then you and the other players need to come to an agreement, like taking turns or something.

You could also go to areas with high concentrations of non-ambient creatures that are easy to kill to get your achievements. The problem with balm-farming is that the balm ONLY works on ambient creatures, but the achievement can progress for anything.

Paper: Wow, Scissors are really strong. Is there anything I can do to fight back or are they too strong?

Rock and Scissors: Scissors are fine, honestly. You obviously just need to l2p.

To answer your question, condi builds have always been a guardian’s weakness, especially necros with their unblockable skills and boon corruption (since guardians rely heavily on boons). If you played necro you would have no problem at all with condis, but you’d have a harder time with high burst and CC-oriented classes.

It’s not a l2p issue, this just happens to be your build’s weakness. It’s not broken or OP because those condi builds have weaknesses of their own (professions with high burst, high condi removal/immunity/transfer, high CC, etc). If you want to be able to beat them by yourself you’ll need to try a different build/profession, though.

Lol, your sig is perfect for this topic. Sadly, I agree though. Thieves should have the option to do more than just decap and +1 fights. They’re in a catch-22 right now because of the way stealth and shadowsteps work, though. They’re the masters of getting to a point, shutting down an opponent who is already fighting their teammate, then getting to the next quickly, so to be masters of anything else would require sacrificing those abilities, not adding to them.

That’s kind of why ele is godmode atm. They used to have to choose between a high burst build or a high survivability build, but now they can be both simultaneously, while also having high mobility.

To make thieves balanced would require making them either have lower mobility or lower burst while giving them a higher potential to win 1 v 1 in an extended fight, or the ability to bunk (lol).

That’s just my opinion, though. I don’t think one profession or build should be able to be the best at everything. :P
