Just hold on to your amigos and try to have fun. Also keep an eye out for others like yourself if you do some matches alone, maybe you could make new friends too.
Ever think of joining a pvp guild, too? That might help.
I’m not sure what they meant either. I know the dyes have different rarities, but the value is more dependent on supply and demand. Abyss was the darkest dye for most armors before the shadow abyss dye came out, but it was never pure black the way the shadow abyss dye is. On some armors, it appeared gray instead of black, sort of like how midnight fire appears brown instead of black (especially with leather armors).
They didn’t lighten abyss, its lightness is just more noticeable now that there’s an even darker black on the market lol.
My theory is that they did it so that people would PVP more to try to grind to the top of the leaderboard, thus making PVP more “popular,” which also explains the incorporation of PVE rewards into the PVP system.
I think he would learn a lot more by solo queuing and seeing from the point of view of the people complaining, rather than the people who seem okay with the whole system (AKA the premades that are farming all the solo queuers.)
Feel free to disagree though, that’s just my opinion.
Psh, you don’t even have to leave the forums to see how toxic our community is sometimes.
I hate to point out the obvious, but that’s like a diamond skin ele’s calling in life lol.
In my opinion, turret engis aren’t OP until they get a trait that allows their turrets to remove boons (prioritizing stability first) lol. Right now they’re fine.
Yeah it used to be better when it was Solo Q and Team Q. It was more consistent and I always felt like I knew that my matches were going to be more competitive and my teammates were going to be a lot smarter in team q than in solo q, and now it’s all mashed together into randomness and you never know what to expect. I still mostly do ‘Compete’ because I hate the additional maps in ‘Play’ and ‘Practice,’ but when I venture over to ‘Play’ I don’t notice the skill floor dropping much because it’s gotten pretty bad in ‘Compete’ now, too. :/
Those videos aren’t meant to be informative, they’re more for showing off and boosting the poster’s egos. If they were unbiased and informative then their flaws would be revealed and they wouldn’t look so perfect and brilliant to the viewers lol.
I think the answer you’re looking for is turret engi.
I think turrets need to be able to be fabulized. They need to have options for assorted colors and patterns, making us able to make them rainbow and glittery and have dancing llama effects whenever someone gets CC’ed by them.
Also, there shouldn’t be a cooldown if they get destroyed or put away – they should just be able to be instantly summoned again.
And Arenanet should also award players with a special title for winning 150 ranked matches as a TURRET engi, specifically, and call it something like “Champion Turreteer.”
You judge your skill level by fighting me. If you win your class is OP and needs nerfed. If I win you’re just bad and need to learn how to play because your build obviously counters mine. Good luck!
Pvp in a nutshell.
My guess is just it’s a bad streak for you. I get them sometimes too. It might be that you’re queuing up at the wrong time or something, idk.
Winning a lot won’t necessarily make your leaderboard rank go up quickly either. Surprisingly, your rank can go up even if you’re losing all your matches. The leaderboard is more about number of matches played at the moment than quality of matches or number of wins vs. losses. So if you go and play 100 matches in a day your rank should shoot right up whether or not you’re winning or losing lol.
I’m like rank 120 or something and my win rate is only like 55% because I almost exclusively solo queue, so that should tell you something lol. Good luck.
Don’t take it personally, lots of people get upset when their teammates don’t do what they think they should do. If you’re not constantly making the same mistake over and over and you recognize when your behavior is bad, then it’s fine.
It only really becomes a problem if you’re constantly and purposefully repeating the same mistake over and over again no matter how many different people tell you it’s not good.
I’m not sure if you’re in denial of the poor matchmaking system or just tired of all the whining, but there is a problem atm. There is no longer an option to choose to solo q, it’s like everyone has been funneled into team q whether or not they have a team, and that’s why people are so frustrated.
I used to play in both team q and solo q (mostly team q though) and I did notice that in solo q there is a lot less skill and perfect timing involved in matches. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, not everyone wants to make becoming an elite pvper a full-time job. The people who used to enjoy solo q feel robbed, and rightfully so. There’s absolutely no way for them to avoid getting crushed by full premades anymore unless they try to form their own premade groups, and that takes away the fun for a lot of people. And don’t kid yourself, not all premades think it’s fun to endlessly crush pugs with no challenge whatsoever, either. That’s just my opinion though, and you’re welcome to disagree.
On my other account I called my elementalist Coyote X, then changed it to Flash Flood Warning. I thought that was a pretty appropriate name for an elementalist, lol.
On this account I called my elementalist Scatty Cat (short for Scathach, named after Scathach the Shadow from the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel book series, because they call her Scatty in that too. :P)
Yeah, I would really like to use my fuzzy cat hat with my shoulder scarf and wintersday outfit. They would go together so well. :c
Yes. I’ve been having lag spikes, as well as a ton of stuck glitches (having to emote my way out of them and usually dying) and stomp glitches (where I stomp someone and nothing happens) and I play on NA. It’s been happening at all times of the day for me too, not just at prime time. :/
Lol, just play what you enjoy and ignore the haters. If you get good at it, people will eventually be saying stuff like “Wow, you’re pretty good for a minion master.” It’s not like you’ll play something you don’t enjoy to its full potential, anyways, right?
If you play something you don’t enjoy, you won’t be motivated to stick with it and get good at it, so don’t bother with it. Also, if minion masters were really as terrible as everyone makes them out to be, you wouldn’t enjoy playing it because you’d just be getting endlessly crushed without being able to benefit your team at all.
Sure, it might not be the best, most optimized build for conquest with every team matchup in the game, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good for anything, and if you’re having fun then that’s all that matters because that’s what you paid for. :P
It seems like they’re doing something right to me, because I’ve gotten a LOT less blowout maches than I did 2 weeks ago. I solo ‘compete’ though so idk if most of these complaints are from play, practice, or compete lol.
I have noticed two things, though. First, there have been a lot of disconnects and 4v5/3v5 matches. Second, I’ve been lagging a lot and seeing a lot of other players complain that they’ve been lagging a lot, too.
I have had a lot of pug vs premade matches still, but they weren’t like the 500-0 losses from before, lol. I know that my experiences don’t reflect those of the entire community, though, so it could be a lot different for other players.
This guy proceeded to tell me that he was going to afk whenever he was on my team. I reported him but have no idea if something was done.
Seeing as he posted in this thread, the answer is probably no.
However I really, really, REALLY think you should censor his name out on that pic or something. o_o
This game would be super boring without mesmers.
Lol, it doesn’t matter which profession you choose, you’ll always hear that it’s a braindead noob profession from people who don’t play it. Don’t let that stop you from playing whatever you want to play. Warriors are great at pretty much everything, and if you don’t enjoy it, you can always try something else.
Yeah, I saw that earlier and at first I thought it was real but after thinking about it for a while I also believe it’s fake. There’s no reason for them to nerf any other amulets besides celestial, the nerfs to celestial and the builds that use celestial aren’t that big, and necromancers got screwed over big time. Also, all the bug fixes at once are too good to be true lol.
Yeah… people who are just casually pvping solo and maybe testing out their own new builds individually are getting put against organized teams who are competitively practicing to win the ESL tournaments and stuff, which isn’t right.
I’m sure it’ll get fixed eventually, but the last patch really shouldn’t have been pushed right before the holidays, because we’ve had to deal with it the way it is for so long and it’s taking them an extra long time to even start to look at fixing it. :/
Wow, if this is real then that means they plan to nerf the rabid and carrion amulets on top of the nerfs to condi necromancers, and they weren’t even the ones that needed nerfed. :/
Yeah, I’ve pretty much given up on leveling new characters, lol. If I find a build that interests me, I just try it out in PVP and use the tomes of knowledge I get from that to level, but I haven’t been bothering with the NPE or exploration. I’m just glad I finished 100% exploration and personal story on 2 of my characters before the NPE came out.
Yeah, on my elementalist I’ve been getting a lot of delay on skills like lightning flash, obsidian flesh, magnetic aura, and even attunement swapping. With the staff, my ground-targeted skills like eruption and lava font have been getting delays, too, and on my guardian the scepter skills are having delays for me, as well as teleports.
I have to admit that it’s especially annoying when my ‘oh kitten’ buttons aren’t working properly, hehe…
What about “scrub?” Or degrading people based on what area of the game they like to play?
Example: PVP scrub, PVE scrub, WVW scrub, etc.
I think I’m gonna be sick…
I think there’s a mixed feeling about this. I get long queues sometimes and the matches are still awful.
With the amount of players actively playing, I don’t think there is a strong correlation between queue time and goodness (for lack of better word) of match balance.
There isn’t, but there should be a strong emphasis on trying to get the fairest matches no matter what, in my opinion. Even if that means longer queue times.
But yeah, right now we still get long queues that lead to bad matches too.
Lol it was diamond skin.
They’ll get around to it…. eventually……….. hopefully…. whimpers
Elementalists used to have to choose damage or survivability, and in turn had to work extra hard to cover their bases in what they lacked. For example, cleric elementalists did hardly any damage (and since rune of strength/hoelbrak and sigil of doom/battle/strength didn’t exist they couldn’t just maintain 25 stacks of might to make up for that), but berserker elementalist had little to no survivability.
Even celestial elementalists back then couldn’t do what they can do now because of the lack of might (and the slightly lower stats), so they played more of a support role than anything.
Now you have celestial might stacking elementalists capable of doing it all themselves without having to work very hard to accomplish it. Instead of having to carefully plan a burst and watch your enemy’s skills like before, you can just cycle through your skills with a low-risk high-reward playstyle.
The reason elementalist is faceroll now is because they can have high damage and high survivability without having to think about it or choose one or the other.
Nah ha, you edited I saw that, you did’t had Guardian at “In a good spot” before.
Lol, guardians are forever “in a good spot.” xD
I really like these proposed changes. I’m not sure if it’ll be enough to satisfy everyone, but those seem like pretty good ideas to me.
That’s exactly how I win most of my fights on my staff elementalist, lol. Everyone else uses predictable rotations and doesn’t watch my skills to know when to dodge or where to stand, making it really easy to CC and lock them into my burst combos. That, and they’re probably still in the mindset that staff ele = free kill, lol.
That actually goes for bad d/d elementalists, too. People don’t like to accept it as a learn to play issue, though. They always blame it on you being OP and at an unfair advantage to them, because they’re obviously much more skilled than you are. xD
I miss it a lot, but I think reverting it back would be too good to be true. :/
PVP was my favorite thing to do in gw2 before this patch… now it just makes me feel sick because 90% of my matches are pugs vs premade and the other 10% is complete noobs just doing their dailies.
I keep wanting to take a break from PVP but there’s not really anything else fun to do in the game for me. I keep hoping I’ll get lucky and have a good match but it just hasn’t happened. Q_Q
R.I.P. PVP.
mini turtle. :P
Hi, I’m a diamond skin elementalist.
Haters gonna hate.
There isn’t a class that I don’t like having on my team, it just depends on the player behind the profession. Any profession can be good in pvp, and if they play well then that’s all that matters. I just don’t like when people compete with professions and builds that they don’t know how to use lol.
Most of the premades nowadays pride themselves on being able to stomp pugs and just farm pvp for the ego boost, which makes it even more hilarious when they lose to a team of full pugs. I think Anet said they weren’t bringing back solo q, but they might eventually update the filters so that solos don’t get put with premades anymore. We don’t know when that’ll be, though. :/
Idk… I don’t think abusing an exploit should be the defining difference between a good player and ‘the best’ player. It’s like saying you’re not the best unless you know how to speed hack or something, doing something that wasn’t intended. :/
It’s not a huge deal, but it would be nice if it were to either be fixed or to be announced that it is working as intended.
You shouldn’t have to reset it. Open your hero panel, go to finishers, and select the one you want. If your using one with limited users, it will reset to default when all uses are consumed. If you purchased, it will have unlimited uses and never need reseting.
It’s been glitching and resetting itself a lot lately though. I’ve noticed this with my dragon rank finisher and permanent gift finisher. It seems to switch back to the default as soon as you close out of the finisher tab on the hero panel a lot of the times. :/
All I got from this thread was “[I’m convinced that] I’m the best and I want my bragging rights.”
I’m surprised it still hasn’t been fixed. I guess it’s not something that can be easily hotfixed though. Still, it’s been mentioned enough times to at least receive a little notice from anet, you’d think. :/
What’s a “map awareness?”
I was referring to when you look at the map to see where your teammates and enemies are, which of your teammates is struggling, and of course the basics of moving between points quickly and the different buffs and side objectives that go along with each map. For example, if there are 4 of you zerging down 1 guy at home while another of your teammates is struggling in a 3 v 1 at mid and another enemy has already capped far, it would probably be a good idea to split off and help the guy at mid, especially if the guy you’re zerging down is a bunker guard or something that is keeping the point contested and not dying quickly. :P
Or, a good example from my recent experience is that your teammate pings the mid point saying an enemy engineer is headed there, and there are 3 of you chasing a warrior away from mid, then all 3 of you head to home to help a bunker necro who is fighting a bunker guardian (when your necro has the point capped) leaving mid unguarded. That’s poor map awareness and coordination because the 3 that went home to start a 4 v 1 didn’t realize they were leaving mid unguarded when an enemy was headed there (either that or they just ignored their teammates pings and callouts lol).
