Are there craftable items that sell well?
Depends on what you are crafting.
Tips on how to maximize your guild influence earned.
First, you must be representing the guild you want to earn influence for.
Events:
2 influence per person solo
20 for a party of 2+ guild members
Best practice – split into parties of 2 members each to maximize influence at events.
Dungeons:
10 influence per dungeon completed for individuals
100 for completion by 3+ guild members
Best practice – split into parties with at least 3 members to maximize influence in dungeons.
Attendance:
10 per member for the first 20 members
5 per member from 20 to 50 members
1 per each additional member
Best practice – log in on all your characters each day. Influence earned is by character, not by account.
Post any other ideas or influence tips you have here!
Step 1: join large guild as one of your 4 guilds
Step 2: Enjoy guild rewards from large guild
Step 3: go back to representing small guild for the rest of the week
Step 4: eventually get all the big guild rewards for your small guildIt sounds like you only get the main reward for the first mission of each type you complete each week. So you can do those with a larger guild and the rest of the week you can build influence with your smaller guild.
Until the large guild kicks you for not representing all/most of the time.
Side question: If you buy a guild backpack in one guild, and then join/rep another one, does the guild icon on the item change? or does it stay the original one?
It changes.
Considering I don’t farm/repeat anything at all and I make 5-10g/day I think ours incomes are pretty fine.
A person who farm is prolly getting 3x or more that amount.
That’s been my experience also. I hate farming with a passion, I just play around whatever interests me and get 5-10g a day.
This amount of needed influence is killing many many smaller guilds but do not bother big guilds in any way. An extremly bad choice of design just make more player frustrated, as they have not a whiff of a chance in a smaller guild.
A full new meaning of “Guild Wars”!Guild Missions are for 15 players+. I think that 15 players are able to acquire this amount of influence pretty easily in a week.
The first Bounty mission requires only two champion-level bosses to be killed in 15 minutes. Unless those champions have a very large amount of health, a guild of 4-6 could easily do it.
if you can find them quickly that is.
Eyes in all the maps!
You get an ingame message that a new build is ready, log out (or the system logs you out after a set time), download the patch (couple minutes), log back in and you’re good to go
ANet has this patch thing down to a fine science. A thing of beauty that other games wish to emaluate.
Hmm, according to a preview article on mmorpg.com the initial influence cost has been reduced to 30,000
Wow advertising 26.2. and then just do nothing, not even commenting on it(and no saying there is no time frame isnt an info…). Fail.
It’s only 7 am pst on the 26th in ANet land. They are probably just waking up
Multi-guilding should help people concerned if their guild is too small to kick off missions until they build enough influence to do it themselves.
This should clear up any timezone questions:
On Sanctum of Rall we have formed a guild alliance so that small guilds can participate.
Check your server’s reddit or website to see if they are doing the same thing.

SUMMARY
*Guild Missions become available after your guild has upgraded the four categories within the guild panel, to a certain level.
*Guild Missions cost 50,000 Influence to unlock and 200 influence to activate.
*Higher tiered Guild Missions can be purchased with further influence and Merits (awarded from completing Guild Missions.)
*Merits are awarded on a tiered basis and are a natural limiting factor due to how many you can earn in a week, preventing large guilds unlocking all tiers instantly from influence they may have stored.
*2 Commendations are awarded to each individual who completes a guild event and can be traded for items from the new vendor in Lions Arch.
*Further rewards for completing a Guild Mission include two rare items or higher and 50 silver.
*Precursors are part of the reward loot table for completing a Guild Mission.
*Having World Completion is a huge benefit when participating in most of the Guild
Missions as Waypointing quickly to far flung locations is a must.
*Working together is paramount to successfully completing Guild Missions, as without it you will fail.
Upvoted for awesome.
I’m excited as a little kid on Christmas morning!
Guild Missions – my guild has tons of influence ready to spend, we are going to hit this hard
New PvP map with capture the flag – yesssssss!
Preview function on the Trading Post – I’m waiting for the TP to explode and alllll those skins people can finally see rocketing up in price.
The transfer includes all of your characters which is leagues ahead of other games that charge for each toon.
Transfer costs were supposed to ship with the game but they delayed implementing it due to the guesting feature not being live yet. Unfortunately it was causing problems with guilds server hopping for WvW wins, people have been asking for paid transfers since the game launched because of that.
You can delete all of your toons to start fresh on a new world (good for a new account, no way I would do that with 6 months invested) or you can pay with ingame gold, so you have a couple of other options than paying cash for gems.
I’ll agree it’s nice to never fall behind, but if there are no goals left for you to achieve other than purely cosmetic stuff with the exact same stats, why go the extra mile?
I guess it comes down to what you think is the lesser of two evils. A gear grind, or lack of content.
I prefer having the whole game still being current content than being limited to the last raid or couple dungeons at the end of a tier with the rest of the game obsolete at end game.
You can work on solely cosmetic items if you wish, I’m building different gear sets for different builds, tweaking them with sidegrades to min/max their effectiveness.
OP, there is:
Dungeons (25 different dungeon paths)
Fractals (which level to infinity)
Dynamic Events (3000+ events in the game)
WvW (build an army or support your server)
PvP (6 maps, another one coming today)
Exploration (find all the hidden items/places/events)
Achievements & titles
Legendary weapons (will always be BIS, will never get replaced on the next tier of a treadmill)
Of course there is the standard alt leveling/craft leveling, mini-games, etc.
And Guild Missions are coming today.

There is more to do in this game than any other MMO I’ve ever played.
They can’t realistically give a time because it depends on a lot of different factors.
How do pretty much all the other MMO companies out there manage to do what ANet can’t in your opinion then ?
Because of the way the patching works in GW2 I don’t think its that big of a deal, giving specific times of the day well beforehand is certainly possible though and there are several hundreds of pieces of evidence provided by Blizzard, SOE, FunCom, CCP etc.
Isn’t Blizzard still using that ancient technology where they have to take their servers down for like an entire day every time they deploy a patch?
OP, it is now 4am PST on the 26th in Seattle time which is where ANet offices are located. That gives us a window of anytime in the next 20 hours. I imagine the ANet team is cozy in their beds atm, so I wouldn’t look for anything in the next 5 hours or so – anything is possible in the 15 hours following that.
I love the flexibility of not having a sub fee. I can choose to support the game when
1) I want to show my support and approval of what they are doing with the game and
2) When it fits in my budget
MY choice, MY budget. It’s the only way to play games now.
I love the Angry Joe review where he goes into a game store and the clerk tries to sell him WoW as best the mmo.
That’ll be $60 then sir.
That’’ll be 15 more dollars by the way
Uh 15 more dollars sir
That’ll be fifteen dollars!
15 dollars…
15 dollars!
Fifteen dollars
$15
That’ll be 15 dollars!(Angry Joe punches out the clerk’s lights)
That would pay for 9 months of gameplay, which (going from release date) included 3 new dungeons, 1 new tier of raiding, the pvp honor system, 3 battlegrounds and an awesome glitch that killed thousands of npcs (corrupted blood from ZG)
I paid for that, and I have no regrets. It was money very well spent, and even if content stopped there, there would still be more to do than in GW2.
If there is so much to do, why do you spend your time hanging around the GW2 forums, hmmm?
I hear those dungeon and LFR queues are getting mighty long over there in pandaland, that wouldn’t have anything to do with it, now would it?
The only reason LA has overflow is the sheer amount of TRAFFIC that goes through there.
*Players exiting WvW exit to LA
*Players entering/exiting FOTM go through LA
*Asura portals to all major cities in LA
*Dungeon armor vendors are in LA
That’s why LA is in overflow anytime day or night – all the players!
I went to the Claw of Jormag event yesterday and as I ran up the hill I see a small group of about 30 players. Kind of a small crowd I’m thinking, then I take 2 steps forward and WHOA 130 people. Take 2 steps back, 30 people. 2 steps forward, 130 people.
Who knows how many players were really there?
/paranoid
Is there a good reason why they’re breaking their content-update-schedule and releasing on a Tuesday instead of a Monday? Are they just saying Tuesday so the Europeans don’t get mad again when it’s actually Tuesday for them, and it’ll be Monday for Americans?
Looking at past content patch release dates, I don’t think they have a set schedule.
10/22/12 – Monday
11/16/12 – Friday
12/14/12 – Friday
1/28/13 – Monday
2/26/13 – Tuesday
I can’t remember the last time I logged in without being shuffled off to an overflow server. Doesn’t matter what time of day or night, this game is busting at the seams!
Speculation thread on when the big patch is hitting tomorrow – GO!
(I’m guessing 6 pm PST)
I think a new PvP map with capture the flag AND Guild Missions is a pretty darn big update for a game with no subscription fee.
Free monthly updates, love it!
I just make 6000 achievement points (178 with salvage). And this is how i celebrate.
Pirate style!

You deserve that little manic. How many points do you have? Share with all!
I’m not too high, i almost never do pvp points so probably there is a lot more people with 6k+
What are you doing to those poor little karka hatchlings, you fiend?
I’m sort of in his situation… have any particular fan sites become ‘the’ resource for builds, tips, instances, etc?
Fractals… can’t imagine what it will take to find a rank 1 group now… and then folks will expect you to be an alt and already ‘know’ everything… is there a site around that explains such things?
Here’s a good guide on how to do Fractals:
http://dulfy.net/2013/01/07/gw2-fractal-of-the-mists-fotm-guide/
This is not true. The time when this game lost the most players is the month or two following release. People that came to GW2 expecting a WoW competitor started realizing this game was not a gear treadmill and didn’t have raiding so they started leaving in droves. We are now left with the small percentage of the mmo community that doesn’t need raiding or a gear treadmill in their MMO’s.
This game will never compete with the BIG MMO’s out there that have raids and gear treadmills. Are there enough gamers in the MMO community that don’t mind the absence of raids, the gear treadmill and the trinity? I don’t know as only ArenaNet knows how many people they need to be playing this game and spending money in the gem shop to make it a profitable success.
If this game ever wants to achieve massive major success they would have to institute a gear treadmill, raiding and the trinity system. This game is a niche MMO as it stands.
Hah, less than 5% of WoW’s playerbase raids. That is a fact.
There’s a reason this game is so popular, maybe NOT having gear treadmills and raids is part of that reason
I have rebound all my keys to the G keys on the left side of my G510 keyboard. That with a few mouse buttons, works much better than the default bindings for me.
I also play Elementalist.
I don’t think you can close your account.
There are over 3,000 Superior Rune of Grenth on the TP right now, but it’s not a very good one. Only 3s ea.
But if you decide to skip out on runes you are really gimping yourself. Try going into the Heart of the Mists where you get free access to all the upgrades and try them out on a target dummy or a hot join match.
Hitting overflow servers at 3 am on Sanctum of Rall. People are playing the kitten out of this game!
Yeah, no one is asking for this. Why would they?
I have taken about ten times more screenshots in the few months since Guild Wars 2 released than I took in WoW over the course of four years. Tyria is gorgeous.
Haha, same. I have over 700 screenshots so far, this is the most beautiful game I’ve ever played.
It’s like playing in a painting. A true work of art.
So, THAT’S the madman that creates the jumping puzzles!
Ride that pony, Josh!
I’ve received quite a few rares and 2 exotics but I mostly get blues and greens. I try to run a few everyday, especially the one in Eternal Battlegrounds since it’s confirmed to drop precursors.
By the Six, this looks amazing!
I think you should pay a visit to Grenth
You want to think about refining the gear on your character. There are many ways to go about this, here’s a good guide:

Here’s a great place to pick your favorite looks:

Keep working towards map completion, participate in as many events as you like. Here’s a good site for Meta events:

World vs World, like a massive battleground on crack:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_vs_World
Join a friendly guild, it really is more fun
I’ve received 4 from dragon chests, 1 from a jump puzzle, a few from open world mobs & non-dragon meta events, I can’t tell you how many from dungeons/fractals and maybe 6 or 7 from map completion.
Just looking at the amount of exotics on the trading post alone, yes – they do drop, Virginia
The only issue I see (besides culling of course) is that mesmers can’t use shortbows.
wait less then 25 people wont trigger swords? so we wont have any idea if a keep is being attacked?
Will make it less zergy – more tactics needed, more scouts to watch different areas.
Something on your end I’m afraid, I can log in fine.
