Yeah, which server are you on? I can’t go to a zone without running into a fair number of other people. All of the starter zones on my server are very highly populated. Even “unpopular” zones like Lornar’s Pass or Fields of Ruin have pretty constant interaction with other players and semi-active map chat.
I’m from JQ which is one of the if not the most populated server.
JQ if I’m not mistaken is mainly a pvp oriented server?
Come to Gandara, I gauranee you that no matter where you go, you’ll find people at every corner of the game during peak hours.
I’m on Sanctum of Rall which is a Tier 1 server and the zones are busy as all kitten.
Maybe I should pay a visit to JQ and take some snapshots
i hope the new content is done smart and isnt “beatable” only with numbers of auto attack spammers.
It’s not.
Granted, there a bunch of different mission types and they all vary in difficulty. But given that this is guild content, we created some challenges that should hopefully require some decent coordination. And while the risen temple of Grenth is a fine example of very hard event, I think you’ll find that the guild content pressures you ways other than dealing lots of damage. A few missions haven’t even been completed by our internal testers yet (but they came extremely close).
BRING IT, ARENANET!!
(I likey)
The reason some servers have shorter queue times to get out of overflow is most of the population in LA is traffic.
*Exiting WvW takes you to LA
*Entering & exiting Fractals is done in LA
*Portal hub, many players use the Mists as a free shortcut to the portal hub city of LA
I don’t see how they could realistically increase the population limit in LA enough to accomodate your entire server…..maybe an alternative would be for TC to designate a server with faster queue times as a guesting option? Just an idea to try out
Rawhide leather strap is a salvage item, not a backpiece. Not sure what you are talking about, sorry
She should try putting in a ticket to see if she can get her quaggan backpack restored, they are very good about things like this.
Read this thread to get an idea of what kind of mayhem Josh is cooking up for us now

Last dev post on this topic clearly states Magic Find does not affect chests or Mystic Forge.
Fractals are the most fun dungeons in the game imo
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
Supposedly scales to infinity in difficulty. I think the highest anyone has gotten is around 80?
You’ve missed a LOT!
Dungeons are fixed.
DR is only an issue if you farm the same mob over and over and over – or run the same instance over and over and over.
To see the new stuff, just scroll back through the months you missed:

Colin interviewed with the fine folk at MMORPG.com and gave some details about Guild Missions coming this month.
I know of no way to obtain dungeon tokens without doing the dungeon.
However, the bugged achievements suggest there were changes/reversions made (either intentional or not)
I’ve also noted that Laurel prices for Goedulf and Chauncey have gone from 35 to 75 -_-; So there have been intentional changes which have not been announced.
O.o
It’s always been 75 for the pets…

Was working earlier, maybe getting an update.
Easy to learn.
Difficult to master.
Your friend is yanking your leg, you do not get ascended items from map completion.
The only time I ever had mail delayed was when I had mail in my inbox blocking new mail coming in.
I suggest putting in a ticket.
Then they oughta put a sticky on the forums saying: “We don’t communicate here. Check Twitter.”
You mean this?

Good site, would visit again
I have seen a thief with dual wield Incinerators so I know for sure that’s not Unique.
I’ve spoken to a few of them, and generally they seem to feel both really honored and humbled by the game’s success. A common theme is also that it’s sometimes difficult to see the forest for the trees- and the ratio of negativity to positivity around here can make it easy to see why. And more than anything, a really intense drive to keep working harder and making the game better and better. In all honesty, they’re tougher on themselves than anyone else is whether you believe it as a player or not.
It’s nice to see posts like this. If you ever get to speak to a dev in-game or otherwise, make sure to tell them you’re enjoying the game and to keep up the good work- remind them that it’s not all hellfire and brimstone, and in fact the vast majority of the playerbase is beyond happy with the product.
I always give them a /cheer when I see them in game in addition to try to charm some information out of them
Speaking of which……
A few days back I was chatting up a dev that showed up for a meta event and the following conversation happened:
Me: ______, what department are you in if I may ask?
Anet person: Map artist…I create the final maps you play in. Mine have been Ashford, Metrica, Hinterlands, CoE, CoF…..some Fractals.
Random person 1: awesome!
Random person 2: wow cool
Anet person: And Guild stuff to come
This is kind of a crazy question – You have 1700 hours of gameplay… in 5 1/2 months (roughly 3960 hours). That literally means for 5 1/2 months, you spent approx 43% of your time logged in playing primarily only 1/3 of the game (since you probably spent very little time in pvp and only got 500 badges in wvw). Honestly, kudos to you cause this is a great game and obviously you like it if you spent this much time on it. But if you spend almost all your time doing something, it’s going to become repetitive and eventually you will get bored (why do you think 50% of all marriages end in divorce?
). I doubt any game out there could keep up with your pace.
I agree, OP – you are a BEAST!
If you’ve got nothing to do, see if you can find Final Rest for us – thx!
This is the first time since the game launched 5 1/2 months ago.
It is a big selling point
I’d love everyone championing this game’s broken “no trinity” design to spend one day raiding with a top 100 WoW guild. You’d be kicked before the first boss was killed. This is a classic example of how casuals think: “I’m a bad player, so when I chose an easier path I must demonize those with more skill to make them appear in the wrong, justifying my poor performance.”
I did my share of WoW raiding. All raiding is in WoW is following a script. In Beta, the top guilds are given access to the raids and they’re told by Blizzard exactly how they are supposed to work. Those guilds practice them in Beta, learning the scripted fights, then create videos of those fight for posting so they can teach everyone else the script. I’ve main tanked many raid up through Lich King as well as dps’d on my MM hunter… it’s all the same. Watch the fight, learn the script, beat the fight.
Yup. The only “challenge” is the gear check.

This game isn’t targeted to those 2500 or so players.
And that’s a good thing
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stealth
Taking damage does not break stealth. Dealing damage breaks stealth. However, if the player uses an attack which is blocked or evaded, they will not break stealth. Abilities that do not deal direct damage (like Choking Gas, Caltrops, or Traps) will not break stealth, even though they apply damaging conditions. Shadowstep or Teleport abilities will not break stealth; however, they will cause the transparent stealth effect on the player to end.
This daughter of Ascalon will not pay a sub fee for ANY game.
However, I gladly throw gems ANet’s way when 1) I want to show my support and approval for what they are doing with the game and 2) it fits in my budget
I really like the flexibility of not having a sub fee.

Think about this for a minute.
If you were locked out of doing the event for a week at a time, I could see them upping the drop rates on rares and exotics, but with the event resetting every couple hours it really doesn’t make sense.
There are lots of meta events with big chests – there are ~170 dragon events alone each week. If they all dropped rares and exotics for everyone we’d be vendoring them the way we do blues and greens now.
Maybe what we should be asking for is an event with a reaaaally long reset timer that drops better loot
There has only been one trial since the game launched. It was during the weekend of the Lost Shores patch launch and limited to friends of current players only.
Haven’t heard anything about another trial.
I love the Angry Joe review where he goes into a game store and the clerk tries to sell him WoW as best the mmo.
That’ll be $60 then sir.
That’’ll be 15 more dollars by the way
Uh 15 more dollars sir
That’ll be fifteen dollars!
15 dollars…
15 dollars!
Fifteen dollars
$15
That’ll be 15 dollars!
(Angry Joe punches out the clerk’s lights)
I completely agree, OP.
I logged into a WoW trial account and it was so awful and ugly and stale and linear and BLECH.
Can’t believe ppl actually pay for that kitten.
I approve.
I think pets get dropped when we change zones or use a portal the way buffs and transformations get cleared.
I keep a couple pets in my invisible bag so they don’t get deposited to collectibles but it would be nice to not have to remember to pull them out.
Found it:
Respawn rate
Most nodes respawn on the same map in a few hours, sometimes as little as one hour, with the following exceptions:
Rich metal veins: approximately 23 hours.
Node farms: approximately 23 hours.
Orichalcum Ore & Ancient Saplings: at midnight UTC (4 pm PST), i.e. once per day
Note that resets are per-character and not per-account. In addition, the physical location of nodes will change after a server reset or game update.
I imagine you are running into the respawn timer.
Not sure how long it is on regular nodes, seems to be every few hours for me on Mithril ore. Rare ore like Orichalcum is on a 24hr respawn I believe.
That was So Much Fun!
I especially liked how they transformed an existing zone into a battleground, gave us costumes and weapons for the event – complete with Aviator Shades! The feeling of hunger and desperation as your life ticked away…….so, so hungry…….

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ba_Dvd_PBQ4
I can’t bring myself to play it now even with no obligations…
Same here. An MMO subscription doesn’t cost much compared to most hobbies. I’d rather pay to play an MMO that respects your time than play a grindy f2p game.
Good thing GW2 is a non-grindy B2P game
Sub fee games like WoW are all about how to keep you paying longer with artificial gates like ilvl gates or reputation gates or OP trinkets with microscopic drop rates just to stretch out their meager content over the longest period possible.
I much prefer the B2P model where I can choose to support the game with gem purchases if I like the content they are giving me.
I probably dropped enough sub fees on other games to buy myself a new computer.
Never again.
I think subscription fee games have gone the way of the dodo.
Pretty good actually. There are a couple tweaks they are working on, but it’s not bad.
Here’s an interview with the devs from some high ranking players from a couple days ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=I0togRMEc_o
I heard they are adding custom maps to pvp that you can rent, with a pword you can give to your friends and you can do anything you want in there from dueling to working on strategies.
Not sure when it’s coming though.
There are no login queues in GW2 since they use an overflow system but the higher tier servers will have queues for WvW since there is a limit on how many players can be on those maps.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Updated-World-Ratings-Feb-1/first#post1391228
The reason you can only have toons on one server is because of WvW, we can’t have you creating a character on another server to spy or sabotage.
If you like RP I know that Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server for US.
I know Best Buy has them, also Amazon – but check the price, sometimes the retail cards have a mark up.
Suddenly in gchat…..
Guildie1 wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Guildie2 RUN!
Judging by the size of my screenshot file there are entirely too many epic/humorous moments to pick just one.
From falling through a crack in the ice to discover an underwater zone to finding an underwater cave hidden behind some seaweed that housed a champion that one shot me to too many epic WvW battles to count.
But the final chapter of the personal story will always stand out for me. Me and a group of friends did it together, we all experienced it for the first time together. We must’ve stayed in there an hour afterwards taking screenshots and talking about it.
So many good times in this game. Best gaming experience I’ve ever had
Zommy and I have a relationship that can only be described as “stormy”.
One day he loves me and lavishes me with gifts and delightful surprises.
The next he hates me with a passion and will barely speak to me, barely contributing anything to our relationship.
It’s complicated.
I also got a lvl 55 rare with a major rune of Divinity worth 33s from a random risen mob in Sparkfly Fen today.
Post your lucky/unexpected drops here!
This should not be implemented as it will result in “elitist” behaviour with any sort of group activity and encourage discrimination against sections of the community who do not have the “expected” setup.
As an example someone might want to speed run dungeons, and have it in their mind that only people setup for DPS can do speed runs efficiently so will start inspecting anyone who wants to join the party to see if they have a class cannon build or not, and remove anyone who does not.
Also, how far do you take a system like this, just armour, jewels, weapons, what about traits and skills? Implementing a partial inspect system will result in some vocal members wanting more information from the inspection.
Guild Wars 2 is about, using ArenaNet’s own mantra, playing the game the way you want, this include armour setup, weapons, jewels, traits and skills. Allowing an inspection tool would ultimately result in a reduction of variety in player builds as people will standardise their builds to what groups expect them to have.
Agree and upvoted!
Plus it leaves room open for conversation starters with other players, asking them what weapon they have or helm they are wearing, etc.
I’ve thought about maybe an armory of sorts that only shows your toon, it’s level and acheivements – what do you guys think about that?
