Open on Sanctum of Rall at 10:38 am pst, Sunday.
I don’t know when it was defeated so not sure how long it will be open, feel free to whisper me ingame and I’ll check if you need it.
I have no information to add but thank you for pulling all we do have together!
crunching the numbers a little, and making the assumption that the average player might play for 2 hours a day (pulled out of thin air) 3 million copies sold would equate to 230 people per zone at any one time … not what I’m seeing, I’m probably seeing 1/5 of that excluding cities.
I have no idea how you came up with 230 per zone.
Why would you exclude cities, especially when Lion’s Arch is in overflow for 18 hours a day? Multiple overflows, how do you account for that?
What about Personal Story instances?
Did you also forget to account for the 25 different dungeon paths not counting Fractals?
What about WvW, there’s a constant queue for that on my server, that’s another 2,000 players right there.
Just looking at the 56 players online in my guild right now there are players in:
Lion’s Arch 2
Other cities 2
Fractals 2
Personal Story 1
Dungeons 11
Zones 24
Overflow 2
WvW 12
That would put less than 1 player per zone with 6x as many in LA, cities and overflow, not counting dungeons, fractals, wvw or personal story.
I think players who post but don’t play bring a very unique — and important — perspective to discussion about the game.
I think people that post but don’t play bring very little to any discussion. Especially those that say things like, “I haven’t logged in since 2 weeks after launch” or “WoW is so wonderful, you guys should come play”. They have no idea what updates and patches have brought to the ingame experience, they are operating on old info.
For all we know they haven’t even rolled a toon, just bought the account to gamebash or try to promote their favorite game, they may have been banned for exploiting or talking trash for all we know
The game did not die when you stopped playing. Colin stated in the interview yesterday that both sales and concurrency are up, we see iit in game, they lift the server caps every 2 weeks or so and within a week 1/2 the servers are already capped at Full again.
Game’s doing great, people everywhere. Not surprising, it’s a really great game
There was always supposed to be transfer fees, they just let us go free while the server populations stabilized and gave us a chance to find our friends. Also, the guesting feature wasn’t available yet.
The fees that were on the wiki at launch if you bought gems with cash were (as I remember)
High pop $22
Med pop $12
Low pop $8
Now that moves all your characters, it’s not a price for each toon. Also you can use ingame gold to buy gems to transfer if you like, what game offers that?
Sanctum of Rall has a very active PvE population.
Can’t comment on personal story since I haven’t tried them all.
I think Elementalist is the most interesting/fun class to play due to the mobility and all the abilities and attunements at my disposal. Haven’t tried Mesmer too deeply yet, but they look pretty fun – that will be my next character.
Player, 2-3hrs a day.
I think Facebook is the devil.
My guild has 200-250 people logging in daily (you can see on the guild transaction tab)
I think you may be used to the old school type MMOs which have quest hubs with players gathered around those hubs. Due to the dynamic nature of GW2 it works much differently.
I can be standing in an area and it looks deserted, like this:

Ten minutes later an event spawns and all kitten breaks loose:

After the event everyone dissapates to whatever they were doing before the event and it looks just as deserted as it did before the event.
Go to any of the large meta events with the big chests. You will see tons of people.
This is changing in the upcoming patch. There will be 6 achievements, you can pick any 4 to do your daily
Effigy Fragment from Fireheart Rise will also light the room for you. The Mad Memories: Complete Edition from halloween back lights up the dark room as well.
Please make more of these!
There’s already over 30 of them =)
I believe we are up to 43 now
I love the jump puzzles, great fun!
Thanks for posting this!
Will players be able to choose from any range of levels or will it be a choice of what they are eligible for?
Say 1 player completed lvl 1, eligible for lvl 2
3 players completed lvl 10, eligible for lvl 11
1 player completed lvl 80, eligible for lvl 81
Will this group be able to choose from any range (level 1 through 81) or would it just kittenoices – lvl 2, 11 or 81?
Thanks for any info!
We have a large PvX guild, 4 PvE nights and 2 nights WvW – over 200 members log in daily and dungeons are run all day long.
Looking forward to hearing more about Guild Missions!
I love the dragon fights
I make it a point to kill a dragon or two everyday. The music, the great roaring screeching beast, the comaradie of my realmies – good fun!
Go to the park area in the center of Divinity’s Reach and take the asura portal to Lion’s Arch.
Once in Lion’s Arch, note the area around Gate Hub Plaza Waypoint. There you will find asura portals to all the major cities. Look for the portal guarded by 2 asura, that will take you to Rata Sum.
You can also access Lion’s Arch for free from anywhere in the world by entering the Heart of the Mists (the crossed sword icon upper left on your screen). Run through and take the portal to Lion’s Arch.
There’s a number of places you can get Onyx Lodestones:
Earth Elementals (of high levels)
Veteran Jade Colossus
Veteran Jade Shard
Chests within Twilight Arbor (Explorable Mode)
Chests within Fractals of the Mists
Bags of Alchemical Materials
Large and Heavy supply bags
I would suggest not limiting yourself to farming one kind of mob (especially since you will probably hit the DR). The dungeons are generally a very good place to get lodestones.
My main guild is a large active guild and we require 100% repping so that we can keep up all buffs 24/7 for our members. I like this guild a lot so I don’t mind.
My other guilds I think of like extended friend’s lists. I can always peek in to see what they are up to and party up with them for anything if I want.
They lifted the caps earlier this week, and lifted them again 2 weeks before that.
They’ve been lifting them every 1 to 2 weeks since the game launched. Keep your eye peeled for an opening.
Not mine but one of my favorites,

Thank you ArenaNet for the Guesting feature, we’ve been looking forward to this!
Great job and keep up the good work
Busting at the seams on Sanctum of Rall.
But you can send me your stuff anyway
At this time your guild & guild bank stay on the server it was created on. If you transfer back to that server you can use it again.
1) Would you prefer ascended gear to be the last tier implemented for the remainder of GW2?
No preference.
2) Would you prefer ascended gear to be equal to exotic gear in all statistics except agony resistance?
No preference.
3) Would you prefer the level cap to remain at 80 for the remainder of GW2?
No preference.
4) Would you prefer if WvW was set up on an equal playing field similar to PvP?
No
5) Would you prefer if WvW / PvP / PvE had separate skill functionalities?
No
6) Would you prefer if Magic Find was removed from the game completely?
No
7) Would you prefer if Magic Find was divided equally amongst all party members?
In dungeons, yes.
8) Is GW2 too ‘Grindy?’
No. The only thing grindy is pursuit of a legendary weapon.
9) Does GW2 need less RNG?
I think it has a good amount, enough to be exciting.
10) Has the Trading Post [and all its users/farmers] positively impacted the economy?
Yes. Love the Trading Post feature.
11) Do you have as much faith [and/or enthusiasm] about the game [and/or company] as you did before launch?
Even more so.
12) Do you reasonably expect [many of] your primary concerns to be addressed in early 2013?[/quote]
I do!
Here it is in case you missed it

I’m curious about how/if guild influence will be earned while guesting.
I do wonder how much it’ll cost though.
Last I looked, if you purchased gems with cash it was about $20 to transfer to a High pop server, $12 to go to a Medium and $8 to go to a Low pop server.
That includes all of your characters since your account is server bound.
Thumbs down.
Right now (aside from cosmetics) you run the different dungeons for different stats.
Currently, players are free to play around with different stats & builds in the Heart of the Mists before committing to dungeon running or crafting for a set.
In closing, reforging makes sense in a game with tiered progression, not in GW2.
That is amazing!
Is that the underwater organ in Caledon Forest?
Grats on 3 million sold ArenaNet!
I’m very excited to see the changes coming to the game. Such a unique, exciting MMO experience to have a living breathing everchanging world to play in
If you’ve been wanting to transfer, grab it now!
You can find patch notes here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news
They put them up shortly after a patch (like within 5-10 minutes)
Balthazar defeated 5:50 pm pst on Sanctum of Rall.
But…it’s not like when you level a healer and your whole role changes in a group dynamic.
You seem confused. Are you a solo ganker that eschews teamplay or someone who wants to heal in a group dynamic?
I stuck it out for one of my other characters (Mesmer) and got him to 80. I haven’t touched him since. Gearing him up seems like a waste of gold and there isn’t anything he can do that my Ele couldn’t do.
Portals – Hello???
Lol, have you really played? Admit it, you haven’t!
I’m not really a team player in WvW. More of a ganker.
Yeah, I know. Judge me all you want.
Then you should love your Mesmer.
Stand on a cliff. Pop Portal Entre.
Jump off, gank. Pop Portal Exeunt.
Port back up to safety.

Colin spoke about it on this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/January-updates-Any-sources/first
We should see his blog this week
The jumping puzzle “Fawcett’s Bounty” in Harathi Hinterlands has a scene straight out of the movie “Goonies”, complete with One-Eyed Willy
D’awww – permanent infatuation buff.
Would be awesome to have a new race in the next expansion though. Speaking of which, does anyone know when will the next expansion come?
End of this year (according to a recent report by Daewoo)
http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/guild-wars-2-expansion-predicted/
You can preview items your toon can wear by copying the code from a site like guildwarstrade.com into your chat.
The code looks like this [&AgFiKwAA]
When you copy it into your chat it looks like this []
You can then right click it for a preview option.
It’s not optimal but it’s a good workaround until we get a Trading Post preview feature.
Lies, the game is busting at the seams with people. After midnight pst on a Sunday night and I’m still in overflow. Just attended a dragon event in a mid level zone with a ginormous crowd of people. And it’s everywhere you go!
As fast as they lift server caps, the servers fill up again. The game is a smashing success
This is exactly my sentiment OP, hopefully you’ll enjoy what it has to offer pre-max level. Once you reach level 80 however you’ll notice a huge difference a massive grind for very little return and a push toward the gem-gold conversion to stay competative. That is in fact the majority of the complaints in this game so far, that and the sudden focus on a single dungeon.
The only thing grindy is going for a legendary, they designed it that way for people that wanted to put in a thousand hours to get a really rare item.
Otherwise gearing your character is very easy, much easier than pay to play games like WoW where they need to stre-e-e-e-tch out that payment plan.
You already bought it, you paid them. That’s their business model.
Anyway, you;ll soon see once you level your toon there are cracks in the design all over this game. Its not apparent right away, but this game cannot hold your attention like WoW did for so long.
You mean World of Deadrealm Daily Craft?
OP, exploring is amazing in this game. Look behind waterfalls and bushes, there are whole zones tucked away in the most unpredictable places!
I’ve been playing since the beta and I can assure you it just keeps getting better and better
I want to be 100% effective in WvW and open world PvE/group PvE.
Why do I have to spend 3s each time to do so or be sub par?
I don’t mind the cost, but I think that we should be allowed to respec at any time so long as we’re not in combat.
You can even keep taking 3s from me every time, I just want to be able to change my traits along with the rest of my build. It makes no sense that everything else is dynamically changeable when traits are not.
This would make it much easier for PUGs to strategize on the fly and change their strategies to suit the situation, which is what the game is supposed to built around.
Thumbs up for this idea!
Better question is how do people find the named Weapon Exotics, i see hundreds on the TP but i’ve never in 1330 hours of playing ever got one drop…
A lot of the named exotics are from the Mystic Forge. Not Mystic Forge randomly throw a buncha stuff in and hope you get something, but Mystic Forge specific recipes.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Forge/Other_Items
I made my named exotic scepter in the forge.
